The murderer in Montreal has been named: Seth Hatfield, from Alberta. He murdered a policeman in a shooting spree in a Jewish neighbourhood in Montreal. Soon afterwards, government journalists at the CBC and elsewhere started describing a manifesto that he had left behind. But none of them published the actual document — they just quoted the odd phrase from it, and called him an “incel”. That’s a term for someone who was “involuntarily celibate”, or someone who didn’t do well with women. The usual suspects were doing the media circuit claiming that Hatfield was a “right wing” extremist. But if that was true, why was the manifesto being shown only to selected, government-friendly journalists? Why were the rest of us blocked from seeing it for ourselves? Well, that just changed. I just finished dissecting the manifesto left behind by the terrorist responsible for the tragic murders of Constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane and Michael Moshe Mizrahi in Montreal. Beyond the clear indications of severe mental instability, this document is a blueprint of modern marxist radicalization. It is a radicalization unfolding daily on Canada’s streets within socialist, Marxist, and pro-Jihadi movements. It is a pathetic, dangerous fusion of incel-style sexual grievance, Marxist class resentment, and the exact brand of anti-Western, anti-Zionist (Jewish) conspiracy theory that has become all too common in the contemporary activist Left. At its core, this is an incel manifesto. Its entire foundation is the infantile belief that women are to blame for the suffering of "ordinary" men. The author whines that female mate selection excludes him from the life he feels entitled to, and rather than looking in the mirror, he projects that failure onto society. He blames women, he blames capitalism, he blames Western civilization, and ultimately, he blames the Jews. This is where the transition from personal failure to political violence occurs. The author takes his incel worldview and dresses it up in the costume of Marxist theory and anti-imperialist rhetoric. What we are seeing here is the inevitable endpoint of an ideological ecosystem where the West is labeled as inherently corrupt, capitalism is treated as the root of all evil, and "Zionist" is used as the preferred rhetorical shield to mask raw, unfiltered antisemitism. It’s the same "not all Jews, just the Zionists" shell game we see played out in protests and on campuses every day, a rhetorical sleight of hand now echoed by institutional players, from the NDP in Canada and factions of the Democratic Party in the U.S. to local politicians like Zohran Mamdani in New York. They have sanitized this hostility, providing a mask for the exact same conspiratorial garbage that fueled this terrorist's rage. Consider what he wrote on page 15 and in the accompanying footnote: "It is the case that there was amongst the western bourgeois class many Jews, who in their newly acquired power immediately set about creating the state of Israel, which became essentially a kind of base from which they were to assist in the expansion of capitalist hegemony..." He goes on to claim that the "influence of Zionist Jews upon the western bourgeoisie is so strong that he refers to the western ruling class itself as the "Judaeo-bourgeois class." On page 16, he offers the classic extremist disclaimer: "...it is very important not to fall into the absurd delusion of thinking that all Jews globally are somehow the participants in the globalist/imperialist scheme..." It is a predictable pattern: first, he pushes the blood libel of "Zionist" control over the global order, then attempts a half-hearted qualification. The accusation remains exactly the same, only the packaging changes. He is not an outlier. Mainstream politicians and pundits in left-leaning circles have been peddling these exact narratives for over three years. That’s before we even get into the right wing "bro" podcasts and the algorithmically fueled echo chambers of TikTok, where this poison is repackaged and fed to a generation looking for someone to blame for their own stagnation. What is chilling is how much of this "manifesto" is a copy-paste of the narratives currently being normalized in activist spaces. While not every critic of Israel or capitalism is a terrorist, we have to stop pretending these ideas exist in a vacuum. We are seeing a synthesis of ideologies that creates a perfect storm for individuals who feel entitled to a world they haven't earned. This isn't a political philosophy; it is a manifesto of profound, pathetic bitterness. It is the cry of a pathetic man who resented women for rejecting him, resented the West for not validating his self-importance, and invented a Jewish “Zionist" boogeyman to explain away his own failures. Ignore any simpleton who tries to reduce his ideology to simple "left" or "right" -- or even "incel." His main ideological belief is opposing "hypergamy," which he blames for creating a social system where most men, he claims, are heinously deprived of female romantic connection. He therefore opposes capitalism, which he views as a primary enabler of hypergamy. He praises (what he calls) communist societies such as China, North Korea, and the Soviet Union, in contrast with the "West," because he claims communist societies are superior at engendering communal structures that facilitate monogamy, wherein the average man has better access to stable female partners. It appears he may have targeted his mass shooting attack at the headquarters and/or CEO of a porn company (PornHub?) in Montreal. Indeed, porn companies are one of the targets he recommends his followers planning attacks against, because he regards pornography as one of the vilest contributors to male suffering and larger cultural degeneracy. He gives advice on how to cultivate good intellectual habits (reading lots of books, giving up video games, moderate physical conditioning, firearms training) so as to best enact revolutionary violence. Here are the ideological movements he recommends followers of his movement infiltrate, if they are not inclined toward violence, and prefer to overthrow the "hypergamy state" through legal or political methods: conservative socialism, Duginism, communism, Islamic theocracy. So those are the ideological tendencies he would regard as most compatible with his own -- particularly, I would say, "conservative socialism." Envisioning himself as some sort of revolutionary thinker, Hatfield encourages the publication of his manifesto in Russian, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese and Mandarin, suggesting it may be “even more well-received” in these countries than in “western nations.” His goal is to “elucidate the true nature of the West to the inhabitants of those places, so that they may be disillusioned of any residual notions of western advancement or ‘superiority’ that they might still hold.”... Hatfield certainly has complaints about what he sees as common relationship problems with women, but he actually doesn’t blame them directly — he blames capitalism for what he refers to as “gloomy and pervasive male loneliness.”... Hatfield suggests that the primary mode of intimacy in Canada and the United States is hypergamy. Once again, he blames capitalism for this state of affairs, leaning heavily on Karl Marx’s “Communist Manifesto” and using terms like “bourgeois,” “proletarians” and “lumpenproletariat” throughout. He complains about bankers, merchants and businessmen. He argues that monogamy simply proved to be less profitable for the bourgeois than hypergamy. In fact, he says the characteristic feature of the hypergamy state is “an intense and appallingly unequal distribution of intimacy within the human population,” which sounds like a bizarre reformulation of Marx’s critique of wealth distribution under capitalism, but applied to intimacy. And, of course, if you blame capitalism, you likely see communism as a cure for all your woes... [He] decries the fact that there are “but five communist countries left on earth.” You may not be surprised to hear that someone who loves communism is also anti-Zionist. I wasn’t, as the two go hand-in-hand these days... The most shocking part of the document is when Hatfield muses over who is “most worthy of being liquidated,” after already deciding that terror is both “effective” and “moral.” He then moves on to his targets. Hatfield doesn’t advocate for people to run over women with a truck or anything like that. In fact, the only mention of women as targets isn’t even specific (he lists “prominent individuals who are pornographic actors or actresses”). Surprisingly, Hatfield writes, “Women, though their behaviour can be very hurtful, are generally not at fault for things, nor are most of their male partners.” Instead, he insists, “It is the highly powerful and influential people — favoured males or otherwise — along with their most loyal, vile and crucial accomplices who are at fault for everything.” He then lists two classes of targets. Class A includes individuals like powerful CEOs, billionaires and elite bankers. Chillingly, it also includes places where they should be attacked, like conferences and corporate headquarters, echoing the alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by Luigi Mangione, who some on the left consider a hero. Class B includes individuals like drug dealers, pedophiles and creators of depraved content, like porn... Hatfield then writes about “permanent revolution” and the “preservation of the future order.” Again, he draws on Marx for his future vision of a world without hypergamy: the abolition of private property without compensation, the centralization of credit in a state bank, a planned economy and full state control over transportation and communications. Disturbingly, he ends by encouraging readers to use blades, bombs, guns or all of the above to attack the people and places on his list, advising them to: “Be unflinching, go forth, and KILL THEM ALL!” Is Hatfield an incel? In some respects, yes. But his violent, ideological bent is unarguably communist."
