The universities where all students are given extra time in exams - "At Sheffield Hallam University, the explosion of the number of students declaring a mental health issue or other disability and asking for special treatment in exams has led to an unusual solution.  Instead of continuing their efforts to individually allocate extra time to each of those who appear to require it, the university has declared – in the name of inclusion – that everyone should qualify for it... Around one in five UK undergraduates now declare some form of disability but at some institutions the figure is nearer to 40 per cent. The impact of this on UK campuses is massive and growing. University spending on mental health has risen by more than 70 per cent on average in the past five years, data suggests. Cash-strapped institutions are funding ever-expanding wellbeing, mental health and disability teams, while also insisting academics are trained to spot struggling students.  Some institutions, such as Newcastle, have set up “neurodevelopmental assessment services” to provide free ADHD and autism assessments by trainee psychologists... As well as more time in exams, students are demanding essay extensions, their own rooms in which to sit exams, the provision of slides and course content before lectures, different standards of marking for conditions such as dyslexia (not deducting marks for incorrect spelling), and an exemption from oral exams and presentations.  For some students, “reasonable adjustments” that are outlined in “individual/personal learning plans”, include an exemption from being asked questions in seminars, often because of their anxiety or conditions such as autism. “You’re meant to memorise who these students are,” says one academic. “In one of my modules, which has around 85 students, 20 of them have a learning plan. Occasionally I’ll ask a student a question by mistake. I’ve had an instance where one came up to me afterwards and said ‘my learning plan says you shouldn’t have done that’. I don’t know how much of it is real and how much of it is overdone or students gaming the system.” By the same logic that is prompting universities to give extra time in exams to all, many now giving essay extensions automatically.  Cardiff Metropolitan University has just introduced a “more supportive and flexible approach” allowing students to submit work late, within five working days, up to four times per academic year with no penalty.  No evidence is required, candidates simply complete a short self-declaration form. Even after these four extensions, undergraduates can still submit work late but it will be capped at a pass mark of 40 per cent... “We are increasingly being asked to treat students like children but at the same time, we are constantly being told to prepare them for the workplace. You can’t do both.”... a growing obsession with wellbeing, mental health and trauma is making young people think they are ill or at least that they face bigger challenges than their peers... Professor Joanna Moncrieff, an academic at University College London and a practising NHS psychiatrist, is concerned that labelling young people with particular conditions can limit them.  “People think they’ve found an explanation, but they haven’t; they have just acquired a label and labels can be really pernicious because they limit you,” she says. “You think ‘I have this thing, therefore I can’t possibly do this and I can’t possibly do that’. It is really worrying.”  Frank Furedi, emeritus professor of sociology at the University of Kent, has a similar view, that what used to be called “problems of life or problems of human existence”, are now framed in the language of psychology and medicalised.  “So, we no longer have shy people; we have people with social phobia. We no longer have kids who are just very energetic; we have ADHD. We are inciting young people to feel unwell. To me, the mental health industry is actually complicit in creating a mental health problem,” he says. Whatever the cause, academics fear that in a bid to try and meet students’ ever-expanding needs, scholarship has drifted down the agenda.  “I think it chips away at academic standards and I think it is very bad for the self-respect of these students,” says one lecturer. “They are effectively holding themselves to a lower standard.   “And even if they do not have entrenched mental health problems at the start of this, they come to think of themselves as people who are anxious or autistic and they grow into the role over time, and I think that could be very destructive.”  Another fear is that in the rush to label everyone, those students that need the help most are being lost in the masses, particularly when students are allowed to self-declare.  “I think if you go to a position of saying anyone can have anything that they ask for, you water down what it means to be disabled,” says the disability lead at a Russell Group institution. “And I don’t think that helps disabled students at all.”  Professor Alan Smithers, director of the centre for education and employment research at Buckingham University, has similar concerns: “The height of absurdity is reached when everyone is allowed extra time, which both makes the exams easier and takes away the consideration that should be given to the very few who have genuine disabilities.”"

The dark comedy of the Islamo-left alliance - "The phenomenon of Islamo-leftism did not come from nowhere. From the 1960s onwards, a combination of disillusionment with Soviet Communism and a growing estrangement from the working class prompted a then emergent New Left to look elsewhere for a challenge to capitalism and increasingly the West itself. And so they looked to anti-colonial movements in the so-called Third World. Islamism, a thoroughly anti-Western form of religionised politics, born in colonial Egypt and India in the early 20th century and resurgent in the 1970s, soon began to make inroads in the West – and not just among the Muslim population. Think of the admiring glances some Western leftists cast on the Ayatollah Khomeini on the eve of the Iranian Revolution in 1979. Or more recently, think of the coalitions and alliances left-wing groups sought to form with assorted militant Muslim groups during the 1990s, and again in opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan during the 2000s. Indeed, the very term ‘Islamo-left’ emerged to refer to the left’s bridge-building efforts of this period.  Over the past two-and-a-bit years, the Islamo-leftist alliance has flourished. The bourgeois left’s increasingly reactionary hatred for Western modernity has pulled them closer to militant Islamists than ever before. Thirty or 40 years ago, leftists might have seen Islamist groups as flawed but useful, as channeling a ‘feeling of revolt [that] could be tapped for progressive purposes’, to quote a well-known 1994 tract by a Socialist Workers Party activist. Today, the roles seem to have reversed. It’s as if the left itself – wearing keffiyehs, chanting Islamist slogans and waving flags in support of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic Republic of Iran – is being ‘tapped’ for Islamist purposes.  Yet towards the end of 2025, in Britain at least, we have also seen signs that this political coupling might just be starting to come apart...   The first signs of strain between Muslim sectarians and the woke left became apparent during Mothin Ali’s campaign to become a Green Party deputy leader. On 7 October, the day of Hamas’s massacre, he said Palestinians had the right to ‘fight back’. In 2024, he celebrated his election to Leeds City Council with shouts of ‘Allahu Akbar!’, declaring it ‘a win for the people of Gaza’. Ali is certainly keen on the Greens’ anti-Israel zealotry and general anti-Western misanthropy. Yet, as a committed Muslim, he is rather less keen on the Greens’ Pride-filled, trans-rights activism. And so during his deputy-leadership campaign back in August, he refused to sign ‘pledges’ on behalf of the Greens’ various LGBTQIA+ groups – much to those activists’ apparent shock and dismay.  But the tensions in the Green Party were nothing compared with those that have humiliated Your Party in recent weeks and months. Semi-launched last July, amid bickering and squabbling over precisely who Your Party belonged to, this Corbyn 2.0 vehicle was clearly designed to exploit the surge in Islamo-leftist sentiment. Fronted by Jeremy Corbyn himself, sometime ‘friend’ of Hamas and Hezbollah, and onetime Labour MP and permanent sixth-former Zarah Sultana, it also featured four independent, ‘pro-Gaza’ Muslim MPs: Shockat Adam, Adnan Hussain, Ayoub Khan and Iqbal Mohamed.   The ‘pro-Gaza’ Muslim men were certainly on board with Your Party’s anti-Israel zealotry. But it seems they were less keen on Your Party’s support for every hue of gender-identity politics. And so, following criticism from Your Party’s leftist fanboys, fangirls and fantheys, Hussain flounced off in mid-November, citing ‘veiled prejudice’ and ‘generalised accusations and offensive slurs’ towards Muslim men. He was quickly followed by Mohamed, who also complained about ‘false allegations and smears made against me’.  The cultural chasm between let-it-all-hang-out ‘progressivism’ and illiberal Islam was fully exposed at Your Party’s calamitous conference in late November. In between denunciations of Israel, a series of pasty-looking social inadequates stumbled up to the lectern to shout their pronouns and denounce the ‘transphobia’ of their ‘socially conservative’ (ie, Muslim) comrades. The absurdity of the Islamo-woke coupling has been laid bare. Activists who think bearded men can be women marching alongside bearded men who don’t want women to be seen in public. How was this ever going to last?   Another event in Tower Hamlets in late October captured the emerging conflict in starker terms still. The setting was, absurdly enough, a counter-protest against a UKIP march that had already been cancelled and moved elsewhere. It was here that leftist activists, marching under the banner of Stand Up to Racism, coalesced with hundreds of masked Muslim men chanting ‘Zionist scum, off our streets’. Phone footage captured a momentary exchange between one of the left-wing marchers and one of their supposed allies. ‘There’s no need for that’, the leftist activist says in relation to something or other, ‘We’re on the same side, bruv’. The masked Muslim man’s response is sharp: ‘No, we’re not.’  These are portentous words. Leftists might not realise it yet, but as that masked man said, they are really not on the same side as Islamists and Islamic activists on the vast majority of political issues. They have allowed their shared loathing of Israel, animus towards the West and turn against modernity to blind them to this most blatantly obvious of truths. The crumbling of this silly and sinister alliance cannot come soon enough."
A common enemy is not enough to paper over the paradoxes and contradictions in the Islamo-left alliance

Mosque has recently started playing very loud prayer music at 3/4AM - England : r/LegalAdviceUK - "  I know this could be a sensitive topic so I’m posting here for advice as I just don’t know what to do.  I purchased a home directly opposite an Islamic house of worship a couple of years ago and up to this point we’ve had absolutely no problems aside from it being a bit difficult finding somewhere to park now and then.  A few weeks ago my partner and I started waking up in the middle of the night to very loud pre-recorded singing coming from the mosque. We didn’t think much as first, thinking it was just a one-off but it’s been consistently every night since for several weeks now and is always at 3 and 4 o’clock in the morning.  With the heatwave recently we’ve been wanting to sleep with our windows open to combat the temperature but it only makes the music louder so we’re constantly getting interrupted sleep. It’s every night of the week and my partner and I both have 9-5s that we need to rest for.  I’m quite an anxious and non-confrontational person and I’m especially nervous given the cultural sensitivities involved here. What would be the best course of action? Can anything even be done?"

"Whites-only" group plans Missouri expansion, sparking more controversy - "A “whites-only” group called Return to the Land (RTTL), derided by critics as racist and antisemitic, is looking to expand its reach from its base in northern Arkansas to an area near Springfield, Mo., a co-founder of the group said recently.  The prospect of a growing “whites-only” community — where members are evaluated based on European ancestry and where Jews are denied membership — is raising concerns among state and local officials and activist groups.  RTTL, which describes itself as a private member association, began development in 2023 on its base in northern Arkansas, which sits on 160 acres of land.  A co-founder of the group, Eric Orwoll, told KOLR that he hopes to expand soon to an area of land outside Springfield, and, eventually, expand to all 50 states."

Major British university urges end to exams as part of plans to 'decolonise' its business school - because 'they favour white students' - "Birmingham University says the traditional methods of assessment are measures of ‘smartness based on white privilege’, adding that it is harder for students from ethnic minorities to do well.  The university – part of the prestigious Russell Group of universities – made the astonishing claim in a new paper about how to ‘decolonise’ its business school.  It decreed business degrees must change their systems and structures to cut links with ‘colonialism and its legacies’. And in a commentary released with the report, Prof Sally Everett, from another renowned university – King’s College London – waxed lyrical about the ‘unearned advantages of being white’ and ‘the privileges of whiteness’ and advocated ‘decolonising assessment’.   She claimed that traditional assessment methods ‘perpetuate systemic inequalities’ and suggested ‘low-stakes assessments’ such as ‘writing reflective journals’ should replace them.  The report concluded that assessment practices, such as in-person, timed exams or graded essays, should go because they are potentially ‘tools of exclusion’.  It said these ‘marginalise knowledge’ and devalue skills from ‘non-Western traditions’. It is all part of an equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) drive launched by the university’s business department in response to the Black Lives Matter protests... The report, called ‘Decolonising a business school in context: from theory to practice’, is part of a three-year project.  Other activities have included taking business students to an art gallery to hear race theory interpretations of paintings and sculptures. The report noted: ‘This work may be uncomfortable, but it is hopeful.’... A University of Birmingham spokesman defended the project as ‘a product of academically rigorous research and discussions with academics within and outside of Birmingham Business School’."

These people don't understand that they won't get past the probation time. And employers aren't dumb. If word gets around that students from a particular school don't have to undergo exams, their chances to be even invited to an interview will shrink down to zero - no matter if they are white, pink, green, brown or yellow rainbow unicorn cupcake."

MSNBC’s Paola Ramos told a pronatalist couple [Malcolm and Simone Collins] she was interviewing that there’s no scientific evidence Black and white people are genetically different.  She repeated it multiple times, even after Simone Collins told her that basic genes, like the ones for melanin production, obviously differ between populations.  Ramos kept insisting that science says otherwise, even after being told the data comes from places like the NIH and American Medical Association.  The couple pointed out hard science: genes vary across populations.   That’s why certain groups have different risks for diseases, fertility windows, or how meds affect them.  It doesn’t mean one group is better than another. It just means humans are genetically diverse.  Ignoring genetic differences between human populations doesn't make you enlightened, it makes you a science-denying ideologue.   Online backlash came fast, with people citing real science, from SLC24A5 to Lewontin’s fallacy, and wondering how someone with a Harvard degree could say something so disconnected from biology.  Source: @EndWokeness , @Mrgunsngear"

No white tears.”  While white people cannot be members of the festival’s organising group, “white allies are welcome” but also urged to “remember this event will focus on people of colour”... The festival was founded in 2016 as a DIY punk collective, and in 2018 released a documentary about the purpose of an event for “punx of colour”.  In the documentary, a contributor states: “It can be a bit isolating sometimes, going to gigs and being surrounded by white people, and looking on stage and seeing only white people.”  The issue of white audiences has been identified as a problem in other arts. In the West End, a series of “black-out nights” has been trialled, in which white people were asked not to attend a given play so black ticket-holders could enjoy the show without their presence.  In 2024, the production of Slave Play held two such nights for an “all black-identifying audience” to ensure they could be “free from the white gaze”."

Full stops in words? Non merci, says French education ministry in ban on gender-inclusive language - "France’s education ministry has banned the use of gender-inclusive words in classrooms, saying they "harm" learning and risk cementing the status of English as the world’s dominant language.  The decree sent to schools across the country took specific aim at the practice of introducing full stops into the middle of words to denote both masculine and feminine endings, such as turning “amis” (friends) into “ami.e.s” - a so-called 'midpoint'... two members of the Académie francaise, the 400-year-old institution which guards the French language, banned the use of midpoints in schools, saying they are “harmful to the practice and understanding of the French language.”   In its defense of the ban, France’s Education Ministry said spelling out words with midpoints was confusing.  “It dislocates words, breaks them into two,” said Nathalie Elimas, the State Secretary for Priority Education. “With the spread of inclusive writing, the English language - already quasi-hegemonic across the world - would certainly and perhaps forever defeat the French language.”  In an interview with the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, France's Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer said the use of midpoints also put people with learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, at a disadvantage.  “Putting dots in the middle of words presents a barrier when it comes to teaching the [French] language,” Mr Blanquer said, arguing it was harder for students to read words with midpoints out loud.   The SUD Education Union, one of the largest teaching unions, called for educators to ignore the Ministry’s decree, and demanded that Blanquer “stop trying to impose his backwardness on the education community.”   Some concessions were made to proponents of inclusive language. The decree calls for the feminisation of job titles for women, such as using “présidente” instead of “président” when referring to a female leader.  Most job titles in French are masculine and linguists have found evidence of women being discouraged from applying to roles with exclusively male titles.  The decree also encourages the use of femine and masculine options when posting a school job announcement - for example “le candidat or la candidate,” to make it clear the role is open to both men and women...   The debate over inclusivity in the French language also sparked headlines in February, when 60 MPs proposed a new law that would ban public servants from using gender inclusive words in their work.  “The advent of inclusive writing makes the learning of the French language harder, since it creates a gap between the spoken language and the written language,” the MPs, a mix of centrists from President Emmanuel Macron’s party and the conservative Les Republicains, wrote in the proposal.  In the fall of 2017, then Prime Minister Edouard Philippe also banned the use of inclusive words amongst cabinet colleagues, stating “the masculine [form] is a neutral form which should be used for terms liable to apply to women.”"

FDR

Thread by @Will_Tanner_1 on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App

In my opinion, FDR was one of the evilest men in American history, particularly since he bankrupted the British while simultaneously aiding the Soviets with no strings attached

The result was communism controlling half the world, killing tens of millions in the process🧵👇

First, FDR had used his power well before the Second World War to destroy old America

He not only was a class traitor whose own family despised him, as @NormanDodd_knew pointed out in a recent podcast, but used the "New Deal" to demolish non-leftist power and rule across the country

Particularly, he would ensure that funds were withheld from those jurisdictions and localities that were politically opposed to him, hindering relief and recovery for those who simply wanted to live like Americans ought rather than being part of some socialist hellhole.

He then directed the funds only toward New Dealers, ensuring that those who pushed his brand of socialism and Big Government, both of which were formerly abhorrent to Americans, and solidified the power of such thought in the country

And, of course, he destroyed the legitimacy of SCOTUS by browbeating it and threatening it with court packing to get it to go along with his unconstitutional, un-American agenda

As a result of FDR's firehose of money to socialists, Old America, a land of ordered liberty, small government, and little regulation, died

What replaced it was the bureaucratic state of today: a massive governmental apparatus, welfare and social aid programs, high taxes to pay for it, a predilection for relying on the national government rather than community members, and federal agencies that reach into every aspect of formerly private life

As might be expected of such a man, FDR didn't just push socialism on the country

He also filled his administration, from the Cabinet-level positions to minor bureaucrats, with Communist Party members

For example, Harry Hopkins was a Soviet agent; he was close with FDR and headed much of the New Deal, then handled American WWII relations with Britain and the USSR, with which he was quite friendly

Then, as Whitaker Chambers, himself a former Soviet agent, exposed in "Witness" and Congressional hearings, much of the low-level bureaucracy was full of Soviet agents

That included men like Alger Hiss, who "aided" FDR at Yalta and was behind closed doors with FDR as he handed Europe to Stalin, letting communism advance like a murderous wave across half of Europe

Then there's World War II

FDR has a reputation for saving our Anglo brothers across the ocean, which isn't true

Instead, he bankrupted the Empire, drawing every last ounce of gold out of Britain and taking over its bases. The Brits even had to confiscate wedding rings to pay for the outdated equipment, from rust bucket old destroyers to near-useless airplanes, that FDR sent them

He also prodded the Germans into war with us by sending US destroyers to, under the flag of neutrality, sink German U-boats or radio their locations to the British, much as Wilson had done during WWI

Meanwhile, as @realDianaWest exposed well in "American Betrayal," and Sean McMeekin notes in "Stalin's War," FDR did everything possible, well beyond necessity, to aid the Soviets

In addition to the weapons and equipment, from trucks and tanks to planes and trains, we sent in massive numbers, FDR provided them with all the bases of American success. Industrial secrets, intellectual property, factory processes and equipment, and so on, were sent to the Soviets en masse, along with vast amounts of raw materials. The Soviets were, as Diana West exposes, allowed to steal whatever secrets they wanted, whatever the cost to American business and industry, as a matter of FDR policy

None of that was done for the British. They got to bleed themselves dry financially while the Soviets were freely given whatever they asked for

The aid to the Soviets continued even as the war's end was a foregone conclusion, and much of it ended up in the hands of post-war communist guerillas, while the industrial aid led to Soviet economic might that long threatened Europe and challenged America

Meanwhile, as the Soviets were given all they wanted, they also tormented our men and even imprisoned Americans in their slave labor camps

Sailors who braved U-boats to deliver supplies were berated and demeaned, and airmen who landed in the USSR were often thrown in gulags. At the end of the war, potentially 15,000 Americans remained imprisoned in the USSR, never to be released. Neither FDR nor Truman did anything of note to help them; even non-military, economic aid wasn't conditioned on their release

So, like the German units and Eastern Europeans that FDR handed to the communists, thousands of Americans rotted and died in Soviet slave labor camps thanks to FDR

Then there's the matter of war policy. "Unconditional surrender" needlessly prolonged the war and led to the Soviets r*ping and killing their way across Eastern Europe, r*ping millions, if not tens of millions, of women and killing millions of civilians

FDR's Morgenthau pressed to deindustrialize Germany after the war, something that would have meant endless suffering and yet more Soviet power over Europe, as there would be no German bulwark. FDR entertained the idea

Meanwhile, Ideas like invading through the Balkans to block off Soviet forces from invading Europe were scorned, and instead we trodded across France and Germany as the Soviets gobbled up territory

Throughout the war offers from the Germans to kill Hitler and replace him in exchange for peace and an alliance against the Red Menace were shunned; instead, FDR wanted the Soviets to march across Europe and commit endless atrocities as they did so

FDR was all on board with such behavior

A particularly gut-wrenching story shows that: during the Tehran conference, Stalin said the Allies should execute 100,000 German officers after the war to break the back of Prussia.

Roosevelt joked that, "maybe 49,000 would be enough." His son and aides laughed

Only Churchill was outraged and stormed out, and it was only at that point that Stalin pretended he was joking.

Then after the war, Americans and Brits often handed German units to the Soviets, who proceeded to work them to death in slave labor camps, well exceeding the 100k Stalin initially suggested

FDR, though dead for most of that, would have been all on board with that, as Truman was

So, if a man is to be judged by his accomplishments, what did FDR achieve?

The r*pe and murder of half of Europe

The turning of the Soviets into a global hegemon, armed and industrialized by America

The bankruptcy and demolition of the British Empire

The destruction of Old America and replacement of it with a bureaucratic welfare state administered largely by Soviet agents of the Alger Hiss and Harry Hopkins mold

In short, pretty much all of it was evil, worst case scenario for the formerly free world

FDR is regarded as a savior of sorts

If you're a communist or Soviet sympathizer, I suppose that's true

But if you support Western civilization, if you view the modern bureaucratic welfare state with horror and despise what the Soviets did to Europe and the post-colonial world, often with the aid of communist run-America, then FDR was one of the most evil men America has produced

And following WW2, of course, was the Cold War “against” our former “ally”…

But what was that period really about?

Judge reduces sex criminal's jail time because of his race - "A former university football player who sexually assaulted two women has been sentenced to just two years in prison because he is black and was feeling intense pressure around the time of the attacks, the judge said.  Omogbolahan Jegede, 25, had choked one of the women almost into unconsciousness.  “It should be noted that but, for the contents of the Impact of Race and Culture Assessment (IRCA), the pre-sentence report and all the mitigating factors surrounding Omogbolahan (Teddy) Jegede, this sentence would have been much higher,” Justice Frank Hoskins said... The author of an Impact of Race and Culture Assessment, a report funded under a new initiative from the Trudeau Liberals, wrote that Jegede was feeling intense pressure around the time of the assaults and did not have culturally appropriate support to turn to."

"NO COTTON HEADED NINNYMUGGINS ALLOWED"
clevelandremembrance.page: BRECKSVILLE- Parents and students are outraged after an offensive display was placed on the wall of the Brecksville high school. The school claims the quote came from the movie ELF... but being that the school is mainly an all white school with a small amount of Black students the students find the quote very offensive. After multiple complaints a parent claimed the school allegedly stated they will not be removing the display."

Cancelled – Jon Holbrook - "‘The Equality Act undermines school discipline by empowering the stroppy teenager of colour.’     Holbrook, a barrister, was expelled for, according to the BSB, expressing his view of the law!  This 13-word tweet was enough, following his Chambers’ intervention, to trigger Jon Holbrook’s cancellation. Unable to cope with a political challenge to the Equality Act the woke left engaged in a Twitter pile-on that resulted in Holbrook’s expulsion from his Chambers after a thirty-year career at the Bar. On principle, he refused to remove the tweet. Although Holbrook’s chambers, Cornerstone Barristers, expelled him, his tweet was, as the Bar Standards Board noted, an expression of his ‘personal political opinion on a piece of legislation’ – a right that is protected in law. He has accordingly been exonerated by the barristers’ regulator and all those who called for his professional cancellation should reflect on how they behaved; and lawyers amongst them might ask if it was not they who have brought the profession into disrepute... In August 2021 the Bar Standards Board cleared Holbrook of all except one the 18 tweets it investigated. Rather like the playground bully desperate to save face the BSB imposed an ‘administrative sanction’ in respect of one tweet. This sanction ‘does not constitute a disciplinary finding’ as the BSB explains here. Holbrook wrote about this twist here and his appeal notice is here.  The legal commentator and journalist Joshua Rozenberg has argued that ‘it is absurd to suggest that the tweet for which Holbrook was fined £500 could damage public confidence in the barristers’ profession’.  The Bar Standards Board sought to keep Holbrook’s appeal in private, meaning that the public would not see or hear what was said, however, a judge ruled on Holbrook’s application that it had to be in public."

Schools are turning children into judgmental, Left-wing hysterics - "We did not for a moment mistake school for a surrogate family, teachers for stand-in or improved parent figures, or anything they taught as sacrosanct. We didn’t look to them for much sympathy, largely because they were often not very nice to us, and we didn’t think they were particularly clever. The same applied to most adults, actually.  Since that rougher but perhaps more robust era of childhood, the scope, remit, and – most disturbingly of all – the political function of schools appears to have grown dramatically. At their worst, some look to have become more like indoctrination centres – pushing green and gender ideology – than places where, when you aren’t laughing at the teachers, you learnt your times tables and the dates of the two World Wars. More than a decade of Tory government has not stymied the direction of travel, and last week saw Rishi Sunak try to claw schools out of the ideological swamp in which they have sunk. The Prime Minister made a long overdue pledge that the Government will finally publish guidance on how they should approach transgender issues.  This followed a Freedom of Information investigation by the think tank Policy Exchange that found that a policy of always “affirming” a child’s gender – for instance by calling them by a new name or pronoun on request – has become “embedded within the classroom, meaning secondary schools are effectively facilitating medical interventions on site”. Crucially, parents are often kept in the dark about their children’s “new” gender at school – in defiance of common sense and, potentially, posing a so-called “safeguarding” risk to children.  Sunak’s pronouncement might well be too little too late. With multiple genders now standardised, sex education classes have become such involved, complex courses that schools often buy in teaching materials from external organisations – some of them nakedly partisan in their approach to contested subjects like gender ideology. But despite being activist organisations, pushing an extreme vision of sex and gender, their packages can often be presented as simple, objective fact. In less political, more irreverent days, this might not have mattered so much because children wouldn’t have wanted to listen to anything a grownup had to say about sex. But a new generation of anxious teenagers and progressive teachers, in tandem with charities and a woke civil service, have transformed the educational – and cultural – landscape. Something similar is happening with climate change. Many schools seem to be doing their utmost not to inform children on the facts, but to terrify them into thinking the world is on the verge of being destroyed because of our selfishness. This must be part of the reason why nearly half of people aged 16-25 are petrified about climate change, driven to a state of nervous apprehension and into feelings of powerlessness so extreme that they do not want to have children.  A large-scale study published in 2021 in the Lancet of thousands of young people around the world found that “climate anxiety and distress were correlated with perceived inadequate government response and associated feelings of betrayal.” This is a far cry from the frolicking, mischief-making, junk food-snacking childhoods of previous decades, when children tended to worry more about missing an episode of 90210 than their country’s carbon emissions.  The politics of race have also been foisted inappropriately onto schools, with children taught about “white privilege”. Once again, the Government has been inept at cracking down on this. Despite weakly warning, in 2021, that teaching critical race theory as fact is unlawful, some schools appear to be continuing to do so. One Berkshire academy is reported to have handed out a worksheet which defined the police as “workers chosen by, protecting and serving people in power”, while promoting the problematic concept of “micro-aggressions”. A Lewisham secondary school also reportedly told pupils that white skin conferred privilege and that all should participate in protests.  The woke – and green – axe has been ground and ground to the point that school children have been turned from jaunty jokers guzzling 99 Flakes into terrified basketcases – over-sensitive, morally judgmental, and carrying round a latent sense of injury. Getting them while they’re young is one thing when it comes to maths and chemistry – there’s no better time to learn the periodic table off by heart than childhood. But teaching them that the world is ending, that their elders are squeezing the life out of it, and that everything they thought they knew about gender and race is a big transphobic, racist lie is immoral because it is untrue.  It’s good that teachers are nicer and more engaged than they used to be, but I fear that too many of them might be abusing their newfound positions of trust."

Police ‘brushed aside’ concerns about mosque visited by Manchester terrorist - "Police have been accused of “brushing aside” concerns about anti-Semitism at a mosque visited by the Manchester synagogue attacker.  Lancashire Constabulary has been criticised after saying it found “no evidence” of hate speech at Masjid Sunnah Nelson, near Burnley, where an imam was filmed describing Jews as “treacherous”.  It later emerged that Jihad Al-Shamie, the Manchester terrorist, visited the mosque years before his attack in Heaton Park on Yom Kippur in October, in which two people died. The Telegraph revealed that Abul Abbaas Naveed, the imam of the mosque, made a series of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel comments in his sermons... “There appears to be a reluctance by authorities to recognise hate speech when it is dressed up as theology.”  The imam, speaking in October 2023, described Jews as “treacherous” in a sermon about a hadith, or Islamic holy text, that claimed a Jewish woman tried to kill the prophet Mohammed with poisoned meat.  “This also shows us the traits of the Yahud [Jews], how treacherous they are and how much they betray and oppress people, because they did this with the greatest of the humans,” he said. Other sermons delivered at the mosque include one on Oct 1 this year, when the imam said: “Whoever has knowledge and does not act by his knowledge, then he has a resemblance to the Yahud [Jews].”  In a third sermon on Aug 15, Mr Naveed branded Israel a “murderous Zionist regime”. “The people of Gaza ... are being suffocated of life, and starved by death,” he said.  “And each day when you think that the murderous Zionist regime cannot become more evil and more depraved, they surpass themselves, and they add a new level of cruelty and brutality not seen the day before.”... “We strongly reject accusations of anti-Semitism or hate crimes at our mosque, based on out-of-context clips selected from a whole lecture. Our mosque regularly condemns extremism and terrorism, and emphasises the importance of living together peacefully.”"
Of course, if someone criticises Islam, that's Islamophobia and no amount of context makes a difference

In our post-Soviet world, we have lost sight of the new enemy within - "There was a time when we knew who the enemy was. In our post-Soviet world, we have lost sight of the new enemy within - "There was a time when we knew who the enemy was. The people who were responsible for running the country and providing its essential industries had to be aware of the ever present threat of organised infiltration by Communism and its fellow travellers... You were instructed to join what might seem like any socially desirable movement – a community organisation, a local protest action, an apolitical social agency – and then to “bore from within”. That is, through persuasion and persistent argument, convince the membership that the real sources of their discontent were capitalism, and the “liberal democratic” order which seemed to be offering them a genuine platform for dissent was actually a tool of repression.  That formula for undermining the West was hugely successful in its day. It mobilised scores of people, from industrial workers to academics to intelligence double agents, who engaged actively in destabilising the Western system of government. Then, with astonishing suddenness, Soviet Communism collapsed. There was to be no more contest between two competing (and basically coherent) ideologies for domination of the modern world. But the instruction book was left behind for future generations. The techniques for infiltrating and turning an existing organisation into an organ of a political campaign were there to be adopted by whatever cause wanted to make use of them. Like a virus that escapes from a laboratory, organised infiltration was set free to infect the world. So here we are – in a world in which all manner of things have become politicised: where politics has, in fact, become the raison d’être of everything from public events to intimate personal relationships. Gradually, the awareness is dawning that there has been a takeover of our entire discourse and understanding of the established purposes of national life. Political activism does not need to be hidden or insidious any longer – because it is no longer in the service of an official enemy. The transformation of institutions and attitudes into overtly politicised forces is now so widely accepted as to be almost imperceptible. To the extent that it is perceived, those who are critical of it are seen as putting themselves on the wrong side of history.  But there are signs of a hopeful awakening. In one field after another, the whistle is being blown. Baroness Margaret Hodge released a resoundingly critical report on Arts Council England’s “Let’s Create” strategy last week, making it clear that ACE – which determines the fate of the publicly supported artistic activity of the country – had been consumed by political intentions.  The notion that art should be judged on the basis of excellence or aesthetic criteria rather than on its social engineering goals had been almost entirely abandoned.  Of course, the arts are an obvious target for political manipulation. Judgements about its purpose and quality have always been open to manipulation by authoritarian rulers. Stalin promoted Soviet Realist painting over what he saw as “decadent” abstraction because it was thought more relevant to the lives of workers. Hitler condemned abstract painting as “degenerate” – for largely the same reasons. Perhaps it was inevitable that once government subsidy became a dominant force in the arts, political priorities would dominate the scene.  But what about health? How could medical treatment itself – as opposed to the funding of it – have become politicised? Surely illness and how best to treat it are empirical matters which cannot be subject to ideological dispute. But there is a whole branch of healthcare now which has explicitly dedicated itself to the furtherance of a very contentious political idea: that it is possible for people to be born in the “wrong bodies” and thus require medical intervention to correct that mistake.  This field of what is now legitimate, officially sanctioned, medicine emerged because of an organised campaign by an activist lobby. Politics is now dictating not just the way medical care is financed and distributed, but what constitutes the subject matter of medicine itself.  Then we come to the ultimate example of political activism in contemporary life: pathological Islamist aggression. There is nothing new about religious war. The hostility between Muslim and Christian nations is as old as the Crusades. But there is something quite anomalous about this latest manifestation. Most of the Arab nations of the Middle East seem determined to achieve respectability and influence in the Western world. They are eager to buy up American and European cultural outlets, to stage Hollywood-style film festivals, and to create viable tourist industries which will attract Western custom.  So determined are they to be seen as modern players with social attitudes that will be acceptable in today’s world that they make special allowances for visitors to break what would normally be national taboos on alcohol, relations between the sexes, and public codes of dress.  They have clearly gathered that their own younger generations do not wish to go on living in the Middle Ages, and that the life that is lived in the West, with all its personal freedoms, has too much to offer to be resisted forever. In their determination to join the modern age, they are having to produce a difficult and contradictory accommodation with their religious doctrine.  To that end, they will not permit the anarchic forces of Islamist terrorism to flourish within their borders. The Muslim Brotherhood is a banned organisation in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, but not in the UK or France. So, ironically, this is where activism can flourish: in the mosques of European countries. They can become centres of violent sectarianism of a kind which most modern Muslim countries would not permit. Their ambitious leaders detest the hostility and fear which Islamism has fostered in the West – and they may be, in the end, the only ones who can put a stop to it."

Sir Keir Starmer sued by The Christian Institute over civil servant LGBT Pride marches - "Sir Keir Starmer is being sued by a religious charity over civil servants’ participation in LGBT Pride marches.  The Christian Institute is seeking a judicial review of government employees taking part in such events, arguing that their involvement suggests they have “taken a side” on gender ideology.  The charity has filed a High Court claim against the Prime Minister, who is minister for the Civil Service, on the grounds that “taxpayer-funded participation” in the marches breaches the impartiality required under their code of conduct.  The claim referred specifically to civil servants who joined a Pride march in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, in September.  Officials who took part were told by the Civil Service’s LGBT+ Network that it was “important to remember that at Pride events we are representing the Civil Service and must act in accordance with our rules and code”.The civil servants wore T-shirts and flags that identified them as government employees, the legal claim said... The Christian Institute is being represented by the legal team that in July successfully challenged the involvement of officers from Northumbria Police in Pride marches.  Linzi Smith, a gender-critical activist, took the case to the High Court, claiming that the force’s “uniformed participation” in a march in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 2024 broke a police oath to act “with impartiality”... The legal action has been backed by the Free Speech Union"

‘The Office’ Actor Rainn Wilson Admits There’s ‘Anti-Christian Bias In Hollywood’ Following ‘The Last Of Us’ Episode - "Actor Rainn Wilson admitted there’s anti-Christian bias in Hollywood.   The former star of “The Office” made the comment regarding the penultimate episode of “The Last of Us” on HBO Max. In episode 8, “When We Are In Need,” the show’s main character Ellie encounters a group of survivors led by a cult-leading cannibal who keeps quoting the Bible.  “I do think there is an anti-Christian bias in Hollywood. Museums hide objects because of tribal gender rules - "Museums have hidden sculptures of naked males because they were designed for women’s eyes only.  Manchester Museum has ensured carved figures and other objects remain in storage and out of respect for African cultural taboos.  Part of the University of Manchester, the museum keeps wooden sculptures from public view because in their original cultural context, they were only intended to be viewed by women.  Sculptures depicting naked male figures, created by the Vai people of Liberia and Sierra Leone who have a range of female-only rituals, are kept out of sight.  Other objects intended for men’s eyes only are also hidden.  These include a charm from the Ogoni people of Nigeria, who have several male-only rites such as masquerade dances, and look to “juju” men to lead spiritual practices.   The Manchester Museum said: “We honour the specific cultural restrictions in each circumstance, providing access according to agreed protocols.”  Curators have also ensured that sacred stone pipes created by the Sioux and a stone phallus from Australia are not on view. Pipes can be considered sacred, while Aboriginals have a range of practices and objects specifically for men.   National Museums Liverpool has removed a Native American rattle, probably used in sacred ceremonies, from its own displays.  The museum group has other artefacts in storage, such as another sacred rattle and two pouches filled with male-only Aboriginal ritual objects that will remain off public display to respect cultural taboos.  Sensitivity about transgressing rules has been on the rise in British museums, where content warnings are increasingly used to warn visitors about encountering certain artefacts. At the Pitt Rivers Museum, attached to the University of Oxford, the image of a mask created by the Igbo people of Nigeria was initially not shared on an online database because it was labelled “must not be seen by women” by its initial collectors."

Rabbi Poupko on X - "Jews to a starving Ireland in 1847: "we are here ready to feed you!"
Ireland to Jews in 1939: neutral to the Nazis.
Ireland in 1945: Ireland's president visits the German embassy to offer a condolences on the death of Hitler.
Ireland in 1946: we will take in German children as refugees as long as they are not Jewish.
Ireland in 2026: we will fund UNRWA, an organization whose members participated in the horrors of October 7th and which ensures the perpetuation of the Israeli Palestinian conflict."

Rachel Moiselle on X - "Hello, all. An important post. Please read this document. This is what institutional antisemitism looks like. In Dublin, there is a park named Herzog Park. It is named after Chaim Herzog (1918-1997), an Irish-Israeli man, born in Belfast and raised in Dublin, who went on to be Israel’s 6th President. Chaim was the son of Yitzhak HaLevi Herzog, who was Chief Rabbi of Ireland and Israel’s first Chief Rabbi. He was a firm friend of Eamon De Valera, Ireland’s most famous political leader, and strongly supported the Irish Republican cause during our War of Independence. Dublin City Council has made an antisemitic decision to change the name of Herzog park, a blatant attempt to erase Irish-Jewish history. Last year, I wrote in the Irish Times: ‘now that the Jewish population in Ireland has been reduced to the smallest fragment, my great fear is that in 20 years it will be reduced to nothing at all: due to this lack of welcome in a land that purports to offer a thousand of them. Irish people will follow the well-paved path of the citizens of so many nations before them: walking through quarters where the whisper of Jewish memory lingers, a memory that may, over time, also be erased.’ This erasure has not come gradually over 20 years as I anticipated. No—it has come a mere 1 year later, purposefully and maliciously by Ireland’s political class. Ireland is an institutionally antisemitic country. To deny it in the face of such overwhelming evidence is pure folly."

After uproar, Dublin shelves plan to remove Chaim Herzog's name from park - "The plan to remove Herzog’s name came after a campaign to replace it with the name of Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl killed during the Gaza war. Another reported proposal was to name the park “Free Palestine.” One member of the Dublin City Council Commemorations and Naming committee, Conor Reddy, wrote a post on X on Oct. 7, 2023 sharing a photo of a bulldozer from Gaza tearing down a barrier with Israel and added the text: “Tear down the fences, demolish the walls.” In another post that day, he said, “Resistance is heroic.” The following day, he wrote on X that the massive Hamas terrorist attacks “should be celebrated and supported … [and] should be embraced by everyone who values justice … It is beautiful.” The entire naming committee, except for one member, voted last week in favor of excising Herzog’s name, and to initiate a consultation process to select a new name... [Former Irish Justice Minister Alan] Shatter, a lifelong Dublin resident who had a 14-year national political career, lamented on X that “Ireland’s politics … has become systematically antisemitic.” Following the proposal’s withdrawal, Shatter said that “Dublin City Council’s Mayor should publicly apologize to the Jewish community for the stress [and] hurt caused [and] also apologize to the Herzog family.” “Until the government adopts a more balanced approach to the complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, demands Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups end their violence and like [the Provisional Irish Republican Army] decommission their arms and abandons its inflammatory rhetoric, antisemitism in Ireland will continue to escalate and there will be further egregious, shameful examples,” Shatter wrote. If Dublin eventually moves to change Herzog Park’s name, Shatter told JI that there may be legal recourse against it, should the council move to do so. “In my analysis, the city council has violated its legal obligations, both international and domestic,” he said. “They failed to engage in any consultative process with the Jewish community in Dublin, failed to communicate its intentions to the Herzog family and violated its own development plan.” The plan in question requires the city to “consider cultural and minority sensitivities.” In addition, as a member of the European Union, Ireland is meant to protect minority cultural rights, he noted. In 2014, a plaque marking Chaim Herzog’s birthplace in Belfast was removed following multiple occurrences of vandalism and amid concern for the safety of the building’s staff and nearby residents."

There's a sinister shift underway in Ireland's national conversation - "the Eurovision Song Contest entered an already charged atmosphere. Considerable space has been devoted to Ireland’s national broadcaster RTE’s decision to boycott Eurovision because of Israel’s continued participation. That decision can be defended on political grounds, including Israel’s conduct in Gaza and its restrictions on foreign journalists reporting freely from the territory. What is troubling, however, is the re-emergence of claims suggesting that Israel may have manipulated Eurovision televoting. This is despite the fact that months earlier, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) stated explicitly that it found no evidence of vote manipulation. Against that background, a recent Irish Times editorial nonetheless referred to “alleged vote-tampering on behalf of Israel in recent contests”. Claims of Jewish manipulation or fraud have a long and well-documented history as anti-Semitic tropes. For some readers, the decision to revisit such allegations – particularly after they had been formally dismissed – risks reinforcing damaging suspicions. The subsequent move to diminish the weight of televoting in favour of national juries may also be read, by some, as reflecting a discomfort with popular votes delivering the “wrong” outcome. For Jewish readers especially, this discourse can carry unsettling echoes of older ideas. Richard Wagner, the 19th century German composer and notorious anti-Semite, wrote in 1850: “The Jew … is incapable of creating art that belongs to the people.” The concern here is not equivalence, but resonance. Within days, another Irish Times opinion piece appeared under the headline “Eurovision glitz is part of Israel’s claim to be European – and that matters”. The author argued that “Israel’s Europeanness is a political construct”, describing Israelis as simultaneously seeking to maintain a European identity while being “European Jewry … reborn in the Middle East”. For some readers, this framing risks suggesting that Israeli Jews do not truly belong in Europe – while also implying that they do not belong in the Middle East either, as they are cast instead as European colonial interlopers. Such arguments inevitably recall, for historically minded readers, Heinrich von Treitschke’s 1879 assertion that “the Jew is a foreigner everywhere”. Again, the issue is not authorial intent, but interpretive effect. Most troubling of all, however, was a headline published the day after 15 members of the Jewish community were killed at a Hanukkah gathering in Bondi Beach, Sydney. “Dubliner … tells of fleeing gunfire as a father and son allegedly opened fire at a Hanukkah gathering, killing 15 people…” It is frankly impossible to understand what the sub-editor intended by the word “allegedly” in this headline. But given that the number of deaths and the relationship between the assailants were widely reported and verified by the Sydney authorities at the time of writing, it is not unreasonable to assume that the choice of “allegedly” is intended to raise doubt on the motivation of the attack, an attack at a Hanukkah party. At a moment of collective shock and mourning, the phrasing raised serious questions of editorial judgment. It is difficult to know whether such articles and headlines reflect a lack of historical sensitivity, a failure to appreciate the weight of certain framings, or a more general insularity. Several things can, of course, be true at the same time: a profound ignorance of classical anti-Semitic tropes, a willingness – conscious or unconscious – to reproduce language that echoes them, or simply an unconscious desire to downplay anti-Semitism. One troubling article or headline in a fortnight might be forgiven. Two is unfortunate. Three indicates a pattern. But four?"

Rachel Moiselle on X - "In 2019 Jewish filmmaker Tuvia Tenenbom came to Ireland to film a documentary about Brexit. He said: ‘I don’t think I ever have met people who have so much hatred for the Jews as I met in Northern Ireland and Ireland, and that includes Derry.’ Some of this hatred was caught on camera, here is a video of Northern Irish men going on an antisemitic rant. Many of you might struggle with the accent so here are a few choice words: Tuvia asks: ‘you have a lot of Palestinian flags here? Why do you support them?’ An Irish man responds: ‘because we hate the f***ing Jews.’ Another Irish man (in the orange hi-vis jacket) says: ‘the only thing Hitler did wrong was he didn't kill enough f***ing Jews.’ As you can see, this was met with laughter from the rest of the group. He continues: ‘Hitler didn’t kill enough Jews. They're the scourge of the world. The Jews are the scourge of the Earth.’ Again, this was in 2019. Long before the Israel/Hamas war that started on October 7th, 2023. But always remember, folks, there is no antisemitism problem in Ireland."

Ireland proves you don’t need Jews for anti-Semitism to take hold
Muslim countries have few or no Jews, yet they hate them, so

The Palestine flag that shames Dublin - "A Palestinian flag is currently fluttering from the top of the Spire, Dublin’s tallest landmark, looking down on the Irish flag which flies from the historic General Post Office a few metres away. Pro-Palestinian fanatics dropped the flag – emblazoned with the words ‘Stop Genocide in Gaza’ – onto the Spire from a drone hovering 120 metres above ground, in defiance of aviation laws, in September. More than three months on, the authorities seem powerless to remove it... It is an offence under the Irish Aviation Authority regulations to fly drones at such a height over public spaces and restricted areas. But aviation safety or that of people on the ground matters little to those hell-bent on forcing their ideology on the rest of us and damn the consequences. When Dublin City Council became aware of the flag three months ago, the city fathers went into a huddle to consider their options to safely remove it. As of late December, they would only say they were reviewing their options. But internal correspondence released under freedom of information legislation shows there is ‘no current methodology for removing objects this high up the Spire.’ A council engineer suggested ‘engaging the services of a rope access company for an external climb’ but warned that someone would only repeat it. As indeed they would. The engineer then wondered: ‘Can the Irish Aviation Authority make this a red zone for drones, and would that have any impact?’ Not one whit. These morons who put aircraft safety at risk are of the same ilk as the fanatics who endangered 70,000 spectators at a US college football game at Dublin’s Aviva stadium by dropping a drone with a Palestinian flag into the crowd. Footage of the incident at the Florida State versus Georgia Tech game in August 2024 shows the drone circling the stadium at speed before it came crashing down onto some of the seats. Cheerleaders had been sitting there seconds before they took to the pitch to perform. The gardai investigated the incident as one of ‘endangerment’, an offence punishable by up to seven years imprisonment. Officers began raiding properties (they clearly had suspects in mind from the start). They seized a ‘significant number’ of electronic devices, but no one was arrested, much less charged. The investigation is ongoing, they say. Seriously? No doubt the Pro-Palestine crowd celebrated this stunt as another stunning act of derring-do. After all, what does the safety of a few young American cheerleaders matter when the freedom of Palestine is at stake? Back on O’Connell Street, the Palestinian flag is still flying high on the Spire. A tattered symbol of a fanatical ideology and official impotence on top of a poorly conceived monument to hubris."

Bin Laden ‘voice of freedom’, says Moazzam Begg, Palestine Action activist - "A pro-Palestine activist described Osama bin Laden as a “voice of freedom” just hours after news of the Bondi Beach terror attack started to emerge, The Telegraph can reveal. Moazzam Begg, a former Guantanamo Bay detainee, claimed The Guardian removed the former Al-Qaeda leader’s infamous manifesto from its website because young Westerners were beginning to “understand” the group’s motivation for the Sept 11 attacks."

Khaled Hassan on X - "Let me help you out. Israel, with its tiny population, even at its darkest hour, is greater than the entire Middle East across its entire history. As an Egyptian, I could stand in the heart of Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, in the middle of a war, and criticise the Israeli government if I wished. No one would touch me. No one would kill me. The first and only time I experienced true freedom and democracy was in Israel. I don’t support Israel because I converted to Judaism. I converted to Judaism because this is what the Jewish people gave to the world. Maybe some imbeciles in the West will never understand what this means. That's fine. They’ve never known the horror of authoritarian regimes. They don’t know what it’s like to lie awake at night, terrified because you made a single comment criticising the government on social media. Some have vanished for less. That’s why I fight for Israel and would die for it — because it is the only true embodiment of freedom and democracy in the history of the Middle East. No amount of Arab money, nor a bunch of Hitler fanboys who call themselves “groypers”, will ever change that. Israel is the Middle East’s only democracy. This is the Israel I want to introduce to the world. This is my Israel, now and forever."

Imagine if Jews came to Mecca and did this there? It would ignite a region-wide holy war against us."

Mark Zlochin - מארק זלוצ'ין༝ on X - "Let’s keep the facts straight. The “Nakba” wasn’t caused by Resolution 181 - it was the culmination of the process that began when Arab militants opened fire on Jewish buses - killing 7 passengers - one day later, on 30 November 1947, triggering the 1947–48 civil war in Mandatory Palestine. In May 1948, the conflict widened into a full-scale war when five Arab armies invaded the newly declared State of Israel. They lost that war - and that is what “Nakba” originally meant: A catastrophic military defeat of the side that launched the war. Only decades later was its meaning retroactively rewritten into a narrative of supposedly pre-planned “ethnic cleansing”."

David Harris on X - "Headline, in 1948, in @nytimes: “JEWS IN GRAVE DANGER IN ALL MOSLEM LANDS" NO Jews left in Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Syria, Yemen… 850,000 Jews driven out, including my future wife & her family. Yet all we've ever heard about are Palestinian refugees. WHY?"

Investigating claim DHS runs official X account from Israel | Snopes.com - "Shortly after a new feature on X in late November 2025 revealed from where accounts on Elon Musk's social media platform were posting, a rumor began to spread that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was running its official account from Tel Aviv, Israel... Some posts claimed that X turned off the feature 20 minutes after the DHS account's location was exposed. The viral screenshot did not include a gray checkmark — which is used for verified accounts of governmental organizations and officials — putting its authenticity in question. Further, on Nov. 25, the account that first posted the screenshot appeared to share information on how it had been created (archived). In other words, it seemed to be an admission that the claim the DHS X account was run from Israel was based on a fabricated screen capture... After he became aware of the DHS rumor, Bier said it was "fake news" and that @DHSgov, the agency's official X account (verified with a gray check that indicates a government official or agency) never displayed its localization for security reasons... the DHS X account's About page did display a localization, saying it was based in the U.S... Bier said in an email that X added the localization for the DHS account "with their permission" after the "hoax." Snopes examined the X About pages of the Department of Defense, Department of State, Department of Justice and Treasury Department. As Bier said, none of them contained geographical information."

CMV: There will never be full peace between Israel and all of its neighbors and there is no "solution" to these conflicts : r/changemyview - "Palestinian identity as a unique identity separate from other Arabs started with the Nakba, it's inseparable from conflict and so far no one has been able to propose an alternative societal structure which does not revolve around conflict. Israel started much the same as a poor and traumatised nation coming out of the Holocaust but after multiple wars was able to reinvent itself into a nation of survivors and innovators. The IDF isn't the pride and joy of Israelis, their start-ups and technological advancements are. They have an identity wholly independent of their conflict with the Palestinians. The Palestinians do not."

Elliot Kaufman on X - "BREAKING: “The Emirate of Hebron shall recognize the State of Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people," write five Hebron sheikhs, backed by 16 more. This unveils a peace initiative they've been working on with Israel's Nir Barkat since February, meeting at his home."
Richard Hanania on X - "How would this not be a good thing? Hebron sheiks want to give up on the idea of "Palestine" and form an Emirate that would live in peace with Israel. The concept of Palestine has produced nothing but misery for all involved. Arab nationalism also gave as the Assad and Saddam regimes, and has made Egypt a miserable repressive backwater forever. The Gulf Arab states who have given up geopolitical ambitions and embraced capitalism have given their people the best living standards in the world. If the world doesn't jump at this opportunity, it's yet another sign of how morally bankrupt discourse around the Palestinian issue is."

The Church should focus on saving persecuted Christians – not attacking Israel - "Close to 400 million Christians live in danger of persecution, and last year almost 5,000 were murdered because of their faith and more than 7,500 churches and religious properties were attacked. The number of countries where persecution is deemed likely has steadily increased, with North Korea, Somalia, Yemen, Libya, and Sudan acutely dangerous for Christians. Currently we’re seeing another outbreak of anti-Christian violence in Nigeria, with churches invaded and Christians murdered, sometimes in front of their families, and Catholic and Methodist clergy abducted. The culprits are usually members of the Islamist Boko Haram insurgency, many of whose victims down the years have been other Muslims. All of this – and more – has been condemned by churches in the West, but it’s not a dominant theme in the mainline Christian narrative. Instead, what has been given a great deal of time and space recently is the ostensibly unacceptable treatment of Palestinian Christians by Israel. Now, this is different from a Christian support for peace in the region, the backing of a Palestinian state, or campaigning for justice for the Palestinian people – it is something far more worrying. It’s also misplaced, and I wonder if church leaders who visit Israel are being shown the full picture. Let’s look at the make-up of Israel. To begin with, there’s a major difference between Israel and the West Bank. Israeli Arabs –full citizens of the country, who represent more than 20 per cent of the Israeli population – are predominantly Muslim, but include a substantial Christian minority. They have the same legal rights as Jewish citizens and are not a persecuted class, though they do suffer some socio-economic disadvantages (such as poorly funded schools) depending on where they live. There are also guest workers in Israel who are Christian, and Israeli Jews who follow Jesus. Take the case of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, the young couple murdered in May in Washington DC by a gunman shouting “Free Palestine”. They worked at the Israeli embassy. Lischinsky was born to a Jewish father and a Christian mother and was a believing and practising Christian who was dedicated to the Israel state. During the October 7 Nova festival massacre, Arab-Israeli paramedic Awad Darawshe, a Christian, was killed while caring for the wounded. There were also Thai and Filipino victims, some of whom were Christian. There are Christians, as well as Muslims and Druze, who serve in the IDF. It could be argued that in recent years an anti-Christian attitude has developed among some within the ultra-orthodox settler movement – indeed, I’ve experienced it myself – but this is confined to specific areas, is fairly recent, and is utterly condemned by the rest of Israeli society. Within the West Bank, however, it’s a different matter. There can be no denying that a combination of settler aggression, military indifference or even support for that aggression, and harsh government policies, have made life extremely difficult for local Christians. Those who visit these communities see the injustice and speak out. They’re often justified in what they say – but a failure to present the whole Israeli-Jewish attitude towards Christians and Christianity has played into the hands of those who would do Israel harm, and is manipulated by the new wave of Right-wing anti-Semites with sizeable followings online. Why this misplaced focus? For one thing, it’s a lot easier to criticise the wrongdoings of the Jewish state than the sins of countless Muslim ones, where active persecution of Christians is rife. There’s a fear of alienating the Muslim community, and a desire for ecumenism with a large and growing minority faith. Another factor is the growth in popularity of replacement theology – or Supersessionism – the doctrine that the Church has replaced the Jewish people as God’s chosen. It may sound obscure and innocuous but, again, it’s being used by those with a strong bias against Israel and Jews."
Muslims are incapable of persecuting Christians. Only Jews can do that

Brianna Wu on X - "The idea that Jerusalem belongs to Palestinians because Jordan briefly held the city from 1948-1967 is literally offensive. When you visit Jerusalem you can go to Zion’s Gate. And you see the literal damage in the wall from where the Jordanian invaders tried to capture the Holiest city on earth in 1948. You can stand atop the City of David. You can go to the Western Wall where Jews went 2000 years ago praying for liberation. Jerusalem has literally been a Jewish center for over 3000 years. And Jordan never legally annexed either East Jerusalem or the West Bank. Jerusalem belongs to Israel."
