Minnesota Democrats Demand $200 Million for Complying with Federal Law - "Angry Minnesota Democrats want $200 million in taxpayer reparations because Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers prevented Minneapolis businesses from employing low-wage illegal migrants. “Minneapolis taxpayers should not be left to foot the bill for this situation that has been created by the federal government,” said Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. “The city’s very financial stability has been called into question because of the actions of the federal government,” complained City Operations Officer Margaret Anderson Kelliher at a February 13 press conference. The claimed cost comes after city officials deliberately used low-skilled and hardly-working legal and illegal migrants to spur economic growth in the city. They have also established “Sanctuary City” rules to shield this low-productivity, welfare-boosted economy of restaurants, retail, and rents from the American families who lose wages, housing, and wealth. Their resulting Sanctuary City Economy suffered an economic heart attack when President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement officers arrived in December to arrest illegal migrant workers, migrant criminals, and far-left activists who are trying to protect the Sanctuary City Economy. Amid the ICE enforcement, illegal migrants rationally skipped work and hid in their apartments. Restaurants and other businesses cut services as the few American employees gained overtime pay. Their employers lost revenue, and the city lost tax payments. ICE also arrested more than 4,000 illegals, costing many landlords rent payments. As ICE continues to deport local migrants, the free market will pressure CEOs to raise Americans’ wages and pressure landlords to cut Americans’ rents. But Democrats are demanding that American taxpayers compensate their city for the damage caused by their illegal Sanctuary City Economy. Mayor Frey complained about the impact of law enforcement without distinguishing between Americans, legal immigrants, and illegal immigrants... Minnesota’s Democratic Governor, Tim Walz, made similar demands... The Democrats’ pushback against Trump’s deportations is an indirect attack on Trump’s low-migration, high-productivity national economic strategy and his 2026 policy on affordability. Under Trump’s low-migration, high-deportation reforms, Americans’ wages are up, housing costs are down, inflation is declining, transport costs are shrinking, crime is dropping, and corporations are spending heavily to help Americans become more productive and earn more wages for each working hour. The pro-citizen, pro-wage policy is deeply opposed by Democrats, who instead promise to raise living standards for migrants and citizens via government benefits. Business leaders in multiple states are complaining about the cost of complying with popular federal law. RestaurantBusinessOnline.com reported on January 23 that Trump’s deputies are raising voters’ wages by deporting illegal migrants: “Fewer workers mean restaurants will once again have to compete for employees the only way they can, by paying higher wages. Wages over the next two years are expected to accelerate, according to Oxford Economics, from 3.7 percent this year to 5.6 percent by 2027. In Idaho, federal enforcement “equates to slower build times, lack of availability on people, and higher rates of wages,” Steve Martinez, from the Idaho Home Builders Association, said at a February 13 press conference.Democrats promise massive resistance to the popular immigration laws that benefit American families"

If you repeatedly tell people it's okay to assault police, assassinate right-wing influencers, and try to murder the president, you will by default end up with middle schoolers beating the crap out of a classmate over politics that none of them are capable of really understanding. What they DO understand is that they've consumed about ten thousand TikTok videos of people celebrating Charlie Kirk's murder, radicals in Minneapolis assaulting ICE officers, and leftist influencers calling for violence and revolution in the streets -- as well as school faculty who likely share those same attitudes. So from there it's a very short road to 'middle school girls commit gang assault over ICE wrongthink'. This will continue until the left faces consequences equal to or greater than what they're currently inflicting on everyone else."

wanye on X - "Liberals still think it’s a pretty big gotcha to say, like, “but what about Irish and German waves of immigration! Doesn’t that prove that people who come here assimilate quite well? Doesn’t this show that all the people who were worried about it at the time were wrong?” Setting aside whether we should expect a person from literally anywhere in the world to assimilate as well as the Irish and the Germans did (which seems like a pretty bold assertion to me), it’s also just not true that Irish and German immigrants didn’t change the country. They probably changed it a lot! The people who were warning that Irish and German immigration would change the country were correct. Now, of course you can say, “I’m glad it changed.“ You could say that about any immigration. But it did change. The people who warned that this would happen were entirely correct. Their views, not those of the pro-immigration faction, have been validated in the fullness of time."

‘Don’t go to the US – not with Trump in charge’: the UK tourist with a valid visa detained by ICE for six weeks | ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) | The Guardian
Homeland Security on X - "What the media won’t tell you: this woman was BANNED from our country for 10 years for violating terms of her visa. Here are the facts: Karen Newton has violated the laws of our nation, and overstayed her visa waiver admission for almost FOUR years after visiting her spouse. Her husband, William Newton ALSO broke the law for nearly 20 years by overstaying an H-1B visa. The Biden Administration granted her a tourist visa, and she traveled to the U.S. under this visa and was let into our nation. When she and her husband attempted to cross the Canadian border, they did not have proper paperwork for their vehicle and were denied entry into Canada. During her inspection re-entering the U.S., she was unable to provide clear details about her situation, including her husband’s legal status. Given her history of overstays, her husband’s unlawful presence, and the vehicle documentation issues, officers determined scrutiny and detention were warranted under the law and she was detained."
Surprise, surprise. The media was not presenting the full story, once again. It used to be basic journalistic practice to get the other side of the story. But pushing the left wing agenda is more important, of course
Weird. Left wingers keep claiming that ICE just targets minorities. So much for that.

Thread by @jeremykauffman on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "All of the disaggregated data shows that many immigrants make America worse. It's disappointing that libertarian institutions have chosen to push propaganda for infinity Bomalians. What I wish Cato, Reason, etc. would be saying is this: It is true that many people in many places are incompatible with a libertarian America. It is also true that America wouldn't be America without selecting for talented, industrious, pro-social people from around the world. We'd be France or England. We're better than them. Immigration is a classic example of a central-planning problem. Using democracy to set a single, nationwide quota is guaranteed to be an inferior solution because it doesn't utilize local knowledge. America ought to adopt market-based immigration systems. A prospective immigrant must purchase insurance and/or have multiple sponsors. If the immigrant a) fails to contribute, b) behaves criminally or c) fails to integrate, then the insurance provider and sponsors pay substantial financial or criminal penalties. Solutions in this direction would allow utilizing local knowledge to identify those who would make America more American, rather than inferior central planning. [Instead of making reasonable libertarian criticism of conservative policies like above, libertarian institutions are going around intentionally lying. It's pathetic and disgusting.]
We can tell that immigrants on average make America less pro-liberty from Cato's own research All of these graphs were published by Cato"
