Eyal Yakoby on X - "A leaked BBC memo told staff that “the argument over how much aid has crossed into Gaza is irrelevant” and instructed them to blame Israel—regardless of the facts. The BBC doesn’t conduct journalism, they conduct propaganda."

Meme - Max Abrahms: "The Israeli withdrawal from parts of Gaza has ended speculation about the famine hoax. We now know based on Hamas' own numbers that nothing like a mass famine happened. It was a giant anti-Israel PR campaign by liars and dumbasses."
Casey Babb: "This was filmed in Gaza yesterday. My God, the Palestinians bounced back from famine and genocide quickly. It's almost as though neither of those things happened."

Meme - "Maybe share some of the bread you've obviously been scarfing down Mr triple chin."
Fat Gazan: "And I can't even provide him with a loaf of bread"

Meme - "The absence of famine photos is 100% consistent with the stat above that Gaza malnutrition rates are low. The world we observe is exactly the world where there's no famine and no genocide, just a world of people motivated to make false accusations."
Aizenberg @Aizenberg55: "Gaza "famine" hoax exposed: the claim has another FATAL flaw besides lack of starvation mortality. Asked for ONE photo of Gazans visibly thin @nirhasson of @haaretzcom-who has endlessly pushed famine narrative-can't produce the most basic evidence. Only "Gazans told me so.""
asa kaizer @AsaKaizer: "Hi Nir. A simple question- Do you have a picture that shows a number of people thin from hunger? A whole family that looks starved? (Not a picture of a single sick child suffering from malnutrition because of the disease)"
Nir Hasson: "One hundred percent of the people I speak with from Gaza-doctors, international workers, and residents-are talking about how most of the population has lost an extreme amount of weight during the famine. Every doctor will explain that children, due to their body structure, growth needs, and energy consumption, will suffer from malnutrition-related illness much earlier than adults, This is especially true for sick children."
There're so many starving people in Gaza that there're no photos of them

Max 📟 on X - "Wikipedia's "Gaza Strip famine" article almost reads like satire. It includes endless quotes from early 2024 about how the entire population of Gaza is starving to death. The fact that this didn't happen is, seemingly, unimportant to the article's writers."

Uri Kurlianchik on X - "The Wikipedia article about the "Gaza famine" (which according to Hamas killed 400 people) is 34K words. The article about the 1992 Somalia famine, which killed 300,000 isn't even 3K words. The famine that killed 50% of Lebanon is 1.9K words. Fucking Clown world."

Thread by @Aizenberg55 on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "🧵Famine in Gaza debunked:
➡️U.S. malnutrition deaths 2023= 23,000
📈Annual rate per 100K= 6.8
➡️Gaza malnutrition deaths since 10/7= 313
📈Annual Rate per 100K= 7.9
U.S. malnutrition death rate is ONLY 14% LESS than Gaza in a supposed famine during war. It's fake. Sources: CDC research tool shows 23,000 malnutrition deaths in 2023. Simply search “malnutrition” on CDC’s mortality database. Note that if one searches using only Code E40-46 (Malnutrition) the result is slightly lower at 22,300. CDC reported 21,000 malnutrition deaths in US in 2022, see CNN report. Many were older people with illnesses reducing appetite or younger people with congenital issues. In Gaza, same conditions are undisclosed to falsely present deaths as “intentional starvation by Israel." Below is CDC search result for 2022 confirming CNN report. This link cites the UN OCHA report (source: Hamas) noting 313 “malnutrition-related deaths” in Gaza since 10/7. Every malnutrition death is terrible in Gaza or US. Just tell the truth though."

Experts question famine claims in Gaza amid serious data concerns - "Even as aid continues to flow into Gaza following President Donald Trump's ceasefire deal, one expert is questioning the veracity of claims by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) that famine conditions took hold in Gaza this summer — and the organizational ties of the agency. "What makes famine different from just hunger or deprivation is that it’s lethal," David Adesnik, vice president of research at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies told Fox News Digital. "Using the IPC definition — that famine claims two lives per day per 10,000 people — the famine in Gaza directorate should by now have resulted in about 9,000 deaths from hunger or hunger-related disease," he explained. "They didn’t have data showing that mortality rate had been reached." On Aug. 22, the IPC claimed that famine was occurring in one Gaza governorate and was projected to reach two additional governorates by Sept. 30. As of Aug. 22, the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health stated that 273 Palestinians had died of famine and malnutrition during nearly two years of conflict. By Oct. 7, the number, it claimed, had reached 460, a difference of 187. "I imagine it was a horrific end for those 187 individuals. But an accusation of famine is supposed to rest on evidence," Adesnik said. He noted that "the IPC forecast a major worsening of the food security situation," which he said "should drive prices substantially higher. But in fact, we’ve seen the opposite." The World Food Programme’s Palestine Market Monitor shows that prices for 60 of 89 key food and non-food necessities in three Gazan governorates have remained the same or declined between the last week of August and the third week of September... Recently, U.N. agencies and international NGOs have come under fire due to allegations of alignment with Hamas... The U.N.’s food distribution model has been questioned due to the severity of looting from both armed and unarmed actors. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) shows that 80.5% (6,800 of 8,440) of U.N. trucks have been intercepted since May 19. "That can’t possibly be the fairest way to distribute aid," Adesnik said. "There’s some indication that when in a situation like that, it’s the strongest who can claim their share of the aid. And that’s sort of the opposite of how we probably like it to be, and it doesn’t seem the U.N. is doing anything to fix the situation."... Not long after reports between July 21 and Aug. 18 indicated that more aid seekers perished at U.N. convoy sites (576) than near GHF distribution sites (259), Adesnik said, "we noticed that for the first time, [OCHA] omitted that number of people killed while seeking aid. " Adesnik said he wonders whether "because the numbers turned against them, they’re just going to stop reporting it."... Adding further confusion to the question of hunger in Gaza was a statement on X from UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, who recently said, while praising the ceasefire agreement that his agency has "enough to provide food for the entire population for the coming three months." In response to the claim, Adesnik noted that "For the past five months, the U.N. has sent in thousands of trucks, knowing that eight or nine out of ten would be looted. If they had coordinated with Israel on security, that aid could’ve been delivered into the hands of those who needed it most.""

Thread by @Aizenberg55 on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "🚨Final Gaza fake “famine” analysis: IPC declared famine on Aug 22. Through ceasefire on Oct 10 there should have been 10,000 starvation deaths. But Hamas/UN counted 192 (most if not all with pre-existing conditions). That's 98% below famine levels. It was always a hoax.
And it’s critical to distinguish deaths from pre-existing conditions that cause wasting vs deaths from literally no food available. 23,000 Americans died of malnutrition in 2023. No one says they were “starved to death”—they had underlying conditions.
I've been asked for my sources here they are. On Aug [22], UN OCHA, based on Gaza Ministry of Health data, reported 269 malnutrition deaths, see link. On Oct 9, UN OCHA reported 461 such deaths (see link), so in this period we arrived at 192 such deaths from Aug 22 through the ceasefire. On Aug 22, 2025 the IPC declared Famine in areas of Gaza. The report noted 500,000 Gazans in Phase 5 Famine and 1.07 million in Phase 4 Emergency, see link. By definition per IPC, Phase 5 means 2 per 10,000 in this condition die daily, and 1 per 10,000 in Phase 4. This is well known, but can be found in the IPC technical manual (see link to view manual) on page 51."

Liron Shapira on X - "Gaza has had approximately same rate of malnutrition deaths as the United States. I never want to hear about a Gaza famine again (@paulg ). I don’t like being gaslighted. Condolences to people suffering from Cystic Fibrosis and cancer in both regions, but no more photos please."

Shirion Collective on X - "🚨BREAKING UN REPORT: “Palestinians” Fatter Than Israelis! You just can't make this stuff up. “They’re forcing us to gain weight.” “After two years of bombarding social media with lies about a famine in Gaza, Hamas is now trying to cover up their obesity by claiming that Israel is making them fat.”"

Shirion Collective on X - "A more believable lie at this point is Israel actively trying to make them fat so they die of diabetes and lower life spans. Said it for months. Never seen a starved Gazan. Ever."

Parle G, Gaza, Israel, Hamas: NDTV Exclusive: How Rs 5 Indian Biscuit Is Being Sold For Rs 2,400 In Gaza - "Guy Nir, spokesperson of the Israeli embassy in India, reacted to the inflated rate of the biscuits, saying, "This is why free humanitarian aid directly to the people of Gaza is so important." "Because over 80% of products in all previous aid attempts were looted by Hamas, and resold to the Gazans for an outrageous price," he claimed."

Motasem A Dalloul on X - "This is why they saturated Gaza markets with junk food.. This reiterates that what we said about it was true.. We have noodles, sweets, snacks, cooking oil, potatoes, etc But we don’t have meat, chicken, eggs, milk or dairy products.. I, myself, have lost 38kgs during the the Israeli-made famine, and have regained 10kgs since the ceasefire due to compulsory consumption of canned food, snacks and noodles."
Michal/Michele -מיכל✡️ 🟦 on X - "We went from “Israel is starving us” to “Israel is making us fat” in breakneck speed ."
"Compulsory consumption". Apparently Israel is force feeding Gazans now. Maybe it's because they kept claiming there was famine, so Israel is trying to save their lives.

Eyal Yakoby on X - "Crazy how now that there’s a ceasefire, suddenly all of the videos out of Gaza show the exact opposite of genocide and famine."
Featuring Mr FAFO

Meme - Shirion Collective: "BREAKING UN REPORT: "Palestinians" Fatter Than Israelis! You just can't make this stuff up. "They're forcing us to gain weight." "After two years of bombarding social media with lies about a famine in Gaza, Hamas is now trying to cover up their obesity by claiming that Israel is making them fat.""
"UN Report shows Gazan Palestinian Arabs fatter than Israelis. What some are calling the 'Fatocide' reflects the reality that there was never a famine in Gaza, but there was a very real obesity problem."

UN Report shows Gazan Palestinian Arabs fatter than Israelis - "While Hamas propagandists accused Israel of a ‘Fatocide’ by making them gain weight with pizza and soda, high obesity rates are actually common among Arab Muslims across the region. Indeed, the UNICEF report revealed that “obesity among school-aged children and adolescents in the Middle East and North Africa doubled since 2000, and is surpassing underweight rates”... If ‘Palestine’ were a country, it would be the 27th fattest nation in the world. And if the childhood obesity rates seem bad, the 38.5% adult obesity rate is even worse. We were told that the Arab Muslim settlers in Gaza were saving food for their children, but the obesity rates show that the adults in the terrorist territories are fatter than the children. The nearly 40% obesity rate not only puts ‘Palestine’ far ahead of Israel at 23%, but far ahead of much of the world which receives far less ‘humanitarian’ aid than the UN lavishes on the ‘Palestinians’. While many African nations have obesity rates in the single digits and suffer from actual hunger, fortunes were spent and lives were lost shipping food to Gaza that it didn’t need... Before faking a famine to bail out Islamic terrorists in Gaza, international agencies and propaganda outlets had faked a famine in Yemen to bail out the Houthi Jihadists. Even as the Houthis went to war against the United States in 2024, the Biden administration went on supplying hundreds of millions of dollars in aid: much of which was taken by the terrorists. Despite the pictures of starving bony children (actually children with medical conditions) and claims that 85,000 children had starved to death, Yemen’s population increased 30%. Since the famine began, Yemen’s population shot up from 30 million to 39 million. While Yemen’s child obesity rates don’t top Israel’s, except in the 5-9 range, at 27%, 21% and 15% respectively, they’re well in excess of anything to be found in a country with an actual famine. Yemen’s kids are significantly fatter than those of nearly every African country which have real food shortage problems, not NGO fatocides faked for the cameras. When the biggest problem for 1 in 4 children in the country is obesity, that’s not a famine, it’s a ‘fatocide’. Over 60% of ‘Palestinian’ women are obese or overweight. 20% have diabetes. After blaming Israel for a famine that didn’t exist, they’re now blaming Israel for making them eat chocolate and pizza, drink soda and gorge themselves on all the free food being sent by their victims. From the pizza place to the ice cream shop, Fatostine will be free. Just not calorie free."

Mohammed AbuNaser - Gaza🇵🇸 on X - "The huge influx of modern smartphones entering Gaza doesn’t add up in any logical way. Even in the best of times, phones never arrived in Gaza by the carton-load, and the current prices make even less sense. Israeli authorities have allowed large quantities of smartphones, luxury chocolates, and biscuits to enter Gaza. This appears aimed at creating the illusion that there is no poverty or starvation in the strip, even though people are unable to access essential food and basic necessities. At the same time, Israel is blocking humanitarian aid, tents, and caravans that are urgently needed to protect people from the winter cold and heavy rain."
Eylon Levy on X - "We have reached the “Israel is flooding Gaza with iPhones and high-quality chocolate to cover up its starvation policy” level of libel. NOTHING Israel ever does will be right for people who begin with the premise Israel is evil, then force the facts to fit that conclusion."

David Lange on X - ".@yipengGe seems to have fooled people into believing he was unjustly suspended from his medical residency at the University of Ottawa but I don't think they knew of his vile terror support"
Dr Yipeng Ge (Ottawa) Supports Hamas and October 7 - "The posts that earned Ge his suspension were tame compared to many others that should concern anyone possibly relying on medical care from Dr Ge – especially “Zionists.” And not just “social media posts from his personal accounts” – Ge has also been holding disturbing placards at rallies. You see, he outright supports Hamas terrorism, which he calls “justified resistance” and “honorable struggle”. There’s that inverted Hamas red triangle again. I mean, he really supports their terrorism: even linking it to “good medicine”: And make no mistake about it, he fully supports their goal to destroy and dismantle Israel ‘”from the River to the Sea”: and supports October 7:... Naturally, not a word from him about the Israelis murdered and kidnapped, nor about Christians being murdered in Syria. Unbelievably, he has even been published in a health journal, the International Journal of Health Policy and Management (IJHPM), promoting the idea that health professionals should be” supporting through unwavering solidarity for collective liberation through the Indigenous resistance and resurgence movements in Turtle Island to Palestine.” So while Ge denies these views affect his “professionalism” and “clinical competency and conduct within the clinical setting”, I beg to differ. How could anyone trust he would treat “Zionist” patients well? He supports our murder at the hands of Hamas after all. And I am not even sure regular Canadians – who he sees as “settlers” – would feel too safe either. Yet he continues to practice and was even recently invited to give a lecture at McMaster University about “decolonizing anatomy education”, and “to spend time strategizing and building community together for Palestinian liberation and collective liberation.”"
The Mossad: Satirical and Awesome on X - "Me watching a dude named Yipeng Ge come from Wuhan, China to Anishinaabe First Nations land, dressed in a white man suit and call Canada a "settler colonial" state while calling for the death of Jews. 🧐 Make it make sense."
Naturally, he's complaining about being oppresed because people don't like that he's supporting literal terrorists, terrorism and mass murder of Jews

Meme - Mark Wickens @mwickens: "With his usual air of moral superiority, Ottawa doctor Yipeng Ge expresses his support for the Oct 7 massacres and kidnappings on the eve of its anniversary."
"Palestinians as an indigenous population living under brutal military occupation and colonialism have every right to armed resistance against their oppressors. Solidarity with Palestinians and their right to life and dignity, must extend to solidarity with their armed resistance."

More Antisemitism From the Canadian Medical Association - "Dr. Yipeng Ge, an Ottawa medical resident and Canadian Medical Association Board Member who on LinkedIn describes himself as, “passionate about tackling health and social inequities by addressing the social and broader determinants of health, including anti-racism work” has been sharing his thoughts about the Hamas-Israel war in Gaza. Those posts include explicitly equating zionism with the genocide of Palestinians, upholding and sharing conspiracy theories about the hospital blood libel, and the support and defense of the eliminationist and/or genocidal chant “From the river to the sea” which his post explains if it makes you feel uncomfortable it’s because you probably believe Palestinian freedom is a threat to Jewish safety and that if the phrase “Free Palestine” makes you uncomfortable it’s because you probably benefit from the oppression of Palestinians:... Clearly the Canadian Medical Association has a great deal of antiracism work left to do."

Yipeng Ge 葛义朋 on X - "I woke up this morning to see a video of a healthcare worker colleague in Gaza be shot in the head while working in the hospital. Shot in the head by the Israeli military. While working in the hospital. Israel continues to target healthcare workers with impunity. Fuck this world."
Strxwmxn on X - "I still have an open challenge: a single clip showing a member of the IDF killing a civilian in Gaza since October 7, 2023. The clip must show both the perpetrator and the victim (there are plenty of clips of Hamas doing so). Nobody has been able to meet the challenge."

Leviathan on X - "Yipeng Ge @yipengGe is a formerly suspended Ottawa-based Primary Care Doctor accused of Anti-Semitism, but currently practicing & good standing. Yipeng Ge previously tried to tread the line of obscurity in regards to support for the designated terrorist group Hamas, but October 7th & the weeks prior blew the hinges off this Jihad door. Yesterday Yipeng Ge decided to post pictures of Paragliders & Parachutes that were used to infiltrate Nova Music Festival, which killed 364 concert goers. "The Defeat of Zionism" with a picture on October 7th with Hamas terrorist on a tank. "So-called Israel." Glorifying the bulldozer that allowed Hamas terrorist to storm Israel and kill 1200+ people. Disgusting. "Resistance by any means necessary." "Power to the Indigenous resistance in all of its forms." Why not be a coward and say "I Support Hamas" instead? Does resistance mean treating Israelis, or anyone you consider a "Zionist" with equal medical care? Hamas would tell you not to and that their form of resistance would be to kill patients who are Zionists. How would that bode for you? This is a Notice of Public interest to any patients who are Jewish or identify as Zionists to stay away, and there should be a measure enforced to ensure he does."

Meme - Yipeng Ge @yipengGe: "When we see severe wildfires due to the climate emergency in one part of the world, we must also acknowledge how exorbitant amounts of excess carbon emissions have been produced because of the US-made Israeli bombs used to genocide Palestinians in Gaza. We live on one planet."
Joanna @BlissPJoanna: "What about the daily salvos of rockets sent into Israel already for half a century now? Less lethal for the environment since you adore the launchers?"
The left wing agenda is all connected

Meme - Casey Babb: "Canadian physician Yipeng Ge thinks that the rape, murder, mutilation, and kidnapping of civilians, including children and Holocaust survivors is a form of love. So few people are paying attention to this - but the intifada is coming to your doctor's office."
yipeng.ge: "I think about the people who have resisted against colonial violence and erasure - and it was not simply about fighting for what you are willing to die for, but fighting for what you are hoping to live for - an expression of love for your people, for humanity, for dignity."
"Unity of Fields. Sometimes - history needs a push flood. The Eternal Martyr. Yahya Sinwar"
Rape is an expression of love

Eyal Yakoby on X - "Primary Care Doctor Yipeng Ge of Ottawa vows to not stop chanting in support of Hamas, despite the ceasefire agreement being signed. Would you trust him to take care of your child?"

annanimiddy on X - "Go into google and type https://t.co/aZVyJgppP0: Yipeng Ge Keep scrolling and count the fawning articles. Look at just these 3 screenshots. We're all subsidizing this and our government thinks of preserving the CBC as a national security matter."
Clearly, CBC media bias is a right wing conspiracy theory

Andy Lee on X - "If you had Yipeng Ge collaborating with the Chinese Communist Party-linked CODEPINK network on your bingo card, collect your prize. How much of the civil unrest on our streets is being orchestrated by well-funded, foreign communist groups? Credit: @VTmxk @csiscanada"

Yipeng Ge 葛义朋 on X - "This is what genocide looks like. Withholding water to an entire population of over 2 million people. Water is life. Israel is exterminating life in Gaza, and making the conditions unliveable. Those supporting Israel are supporting genocide."
Max 📟 on X - "One year ago, Yipeng Ge declared that Azza had run out of water. Since then, everyone in Azza has died from dehydration. Just kidding. He was lying. Palestine always lies."

Links - 9th December 2025 (2 - Diversity)

Jamie Sarkonak: The CRTC is trying to tell local newsrooms what to report. It needs to stop - "It shouldn’t be the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s job to regulate the demographic composition of the people we see on television. Nevertheless, it’s become a growing CRTC priority — and a critical threat to media independence in Canada. The latest round of diversity measures in broadcasting was proclaimed by the CRTC in early June. In concluding a review of its multi-million-dollar subsidy program for local news, the regulator determined that eligible broadcasters should be given incentives to bring about “increased production of online content responding to the needs of members of equity-deserving communities, Indigenous communities, and (official language minority communities).” Since it was created in 2016, the Independent Local News Fund has worked without diversity incentives. Broadcasters had to pay 0.3 per cent of their broadcasting revenues to the fund, which was then paid out to various small-market private TV stations to support local news reporting. The idea was to support local news production, and support it did: the fund collects about $18 million annually. Fund-eligible stations, CRTC-watcher Howard Law has observed , collectively spend about $27 million on news every year, which means that the CRTC is covering around 70 per cent of their collective news budget. In the past, funding was doled out according to a broadcaster’s TV offerings... Now, grant calculations will include news that appears only on a station’s website — but only if the online news “relates specifically to an underserved community” within a station’s area and “portrays an onscreen representation of the underserved community by, for example, depicting its members or representatives or featuring coverage of an event related to the community.”... In 2013, the idea of even mandating regional content quotas was considered by the regulator to be an infringement of journalistic independence. That all began

to change under the Liberal government, however... In 2022, the CRTC imposed diversity quotas on parts of the CBC’s programming budget to “reflect contemporary Canada” — i.e., to achieve the regulator’s preferred demographic balance. Among other requirements, the CBC was required to spend 30 per cent of its budget line for English commissioned TV programs on diverse producers (the quota will rise to 35 per cent next year). A smaller quota was applied to the French side (which will reach 15 per cent next year). This was a direct, propagandistic intrusion by the regulator — and really, the Canadian government — into the editorial realm. In 2024, the CRTC began collecting a five per cent government cut from the revenues of international digital streamers operating in Canada — Spotify, Netflix, YouTube, etc. — which functionally became a diversity tax. The CRTC used the funds to advance its evergreen goal of equity, with payouts going to the intensely diversity-oriented Canada Media Fund, to media creators who checked diversity boxes, and to the Independent Local News Fund, which has now been absorbed into the CRTC’s DEI machine. The CRTC has seen a whole lot of mission bloat in this last decade, and we continue to pay for it. Literally. The staff headcount at the regulator’s office rose from 450 in 2016 to 733 in 2025 — an increase of 63 per cent. And as it piles more regulatory requirements onto the companies it supervises, they have to hire more people in turn. We can assume any related bills are passed on to subscribers. Are we getting any extra value out of this? No — in fact, it seems to be making the media landscape worse."

Jumilla sits in Murcia - Spain’s agricultural south. In many areas, Muslims are now the majority. Entire towns speak Arabic, not Spanish.  Locals say: this isn’t diversity, I t’s displacement. One local said: “Our festivals are gone. We don’t hear Spanish in the streets anymore.”  For many, this isn’t about religion. It’s about recognisability. Cultural cohesion. Belonging. VOX proposed a ban on public Islamic celebrations.  PP, the centre-right, agreed.  This isn’t fringe anymore. Even moderates are standing up to enclave politics. The law doesn’t touch private worship. But it draws a hard line: public streets reflect local identity, not imported ones.
It’s a message to Madrid, Brussels, and Riyadh: You don’t run this town. Now the Left wants to criminalise it. Pedro Sánchez is threatening Jumilla with hate crime prosecution.  Say no to Islamic festivals? You could face jail in 2025 Europe. But here’s the uncomfortable truth:  This could set a precedent that later affects Christian processions too.  Yes, Jumilla acted to protect its culture, but the weaponised legal framework could one day be turned against it."

St Augustine portrayed as black in children’s book - "St Augustine has been pictured as a black man in a children’s book written by Church of England officials...   At this time, the area was a Roman province, although Augustine and his mother Saint Monica may have had North African Berber origins.  While this would not make him black, there have been efforts to apply this identity to Augustine, including at the Catholic University of Villanova in Pennsylvania, and art has been commissioned to reflect this.  A leading official at the university wrote in 2023 that it was important to depict the saint as black because “depicting St. Augustine as a Black man actively decentres whiteness”. Heroes of Hope was co-written by The Rev Dr Sharon Prentis, the deputy director of the Church of England’s racial justice unit.  The unit was set up in 2022, in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests, to accomplish the Church’s commitments to achieving racial justice.  Dr Prentis’s co-author was Alysia-Lara Ayonrinde, the Church’s national education lead for racial justice... In 2024, the Church hired a £36,000-a-year “deconstructing whiteness” officer to combat racial injustice, and it has sought to address monuments and artworks linked to the slave trade.  There have also been promises to provide reparations for Church involvement in slavery, although the extent to which it profited from the trade has been fiercely debated.  Meanwhile, there are also growing secular efforts to provide more diverse histories.  A 2023 illustrated children’s book entitled Brilliant Black British History, by Atinuke, a Nigerian-born British author, claimed that “the very first Britons were black” and that Stonehenge was built while Britain was “a black country”.  Several organisations, including the London Museum, have claimed that Roman emperor Lucius Septimius Severus was part of “Black History”, despite him not being black."

HS2 ‘prioritising diversity over cost-cutting’ - "In a report on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) at the beleaguered rail project, diversity officers explained how they had spent tens of millions of pounds on resources from “diverse-owned suppliers”, on surpassing ethnic minority employment targets, and on participating in mental health and racial equality awareness projects.  The high-speed rail project is years overdue and has accumulated billions of pounds in cost overruns. Heidi Alexander, the Transport Secretary, has described it as an “appalling mess” characterised by a “litany of failure”.   But on EDI, HS2 is boasting of its success. In the report, Joanna Davinson, the HS2 board member responsible for diversity, writes that EDI “shapes how we think, lead and build the railway”... “EDI is embedded throughout the complex HS2 supply chain as a means of ensuring safe and inclusive sites and offices.”  The report also said that having a diverse workforce was “an integral part of being able to speak up about concerns and feel psychologically safe” during the designing and building of the mega-project.  The report praised the setting up of eight staff inclusivity networks and a mental health awareness programme for Punjabi-speaking workers at Fortel Group, one of its station construction partners.  It also boasted that HS2 was currently surpassing its own target of 23 per cent ethnic minority employment, with the figure standing at 31 per cent.  Jerome Mayhew, the shadow transport minister, said: “HS2 should be concentrating on cutting costs and delivering track on time, not HR schemes and vanity projects. Taxpayers want to know when this railway will be delivered, and at what price. Instead, HS2 is boasting about diversity initiatives that have nothing to do with trains being delivered.  “With a budget already under huge pressure, every penny must go on delivery and best value. That means hiring the best talent available and focusing resources on building the railway the country needs.”  The railway is now at peak construction, with around 33,000 people currently involved in the project.

Daniel Dae Kim calls out ‘overcorrection’ in Hollywood when casting for Asian characters - "Daniel Dae Kim has called out what he referred to as “overcorrection” on nationality-specific casting for Asian characters. The Lost star said in a new interview that there is more effort on the actor being cast in the role of an Asian character belonging to the specific nationality, instead of writing a better character... “Very often, when we’re cast, if the role calls for a Korean American, they will not see a Japanese American or Chinese American or any other Asian nationality.” He continued, saying that there is no reason for an actor to be of the specific nationality because there is no cultural or language-based requirement for the character. “There are very often times when the role itself has not been thought through,” he said. “It doesn’t require any kind of specificity in the story as it’s being told, or in the specifics of the character, because very often, it’s not even being written by an Asian person.” “So they don’t know the difference in what they’re asking for, and yet casting is being very specific.” Kim recognised the need for nationality-based casting and when it is “important,” especially when there is “an authentic language requirement in the role, or it’s based on someone who’s a real person that has cultural significance to that particular country”. “Anytime there’s a role that focuses, to me, on the American experience of being Asian — that’s something that no matter [if] you’re Korean, Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, that’s something we all share in common as Asian Americans,” he said... Comparing the differences between the scrutiny Asian actors get as opposed to African American actors, Kim said: “Asian American actors are often specified by nationality when other ethnicities are not. When African American actors are hired, very rarely are they asked, where is their country of ancestry? Whether you're Botswanan or from the Ivory Coast, it's not pertinent. Especially if you're playing an American.” He also called out how country of origin plays no part when non-American actors get cast to play American icons like superheroes. “How many of our superheroes who are playing American are from other countries like Australia and England? And yet we don't ever ask whether that's important, relevant, and it doesn't limit them from taking those roles.” To his point, British actors Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, Henry Cavill, Christian Bale, and Robert Pattinson have all played incredibly popular American superheroes like Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman."
Left wingers keep going on about "empathy", but they believe it's impossible to empathise with someone from another group (this is distinct from the race-based rights argument)
How ignorant. Doesn't he know not just that all white people are the same, but that there's no legacy of racism affecting them that means that they're only allowed to play someone of the same ethnic group?!

DEI gardening — the new Liberal priority for agriculture - "Free money alert: next Monday, the federal agriculture department will begin accepting applications for cash handouts that fund garden boxes, refrigeration units, greenhouses, ATVs, snowmobiles, tractors, hydroponic systems and more. But there’s a catch — anyone who receives these funds must use them to directly support “food production for equity-deserving groups.” The program, called the Local Food Infrastructure Fund, expressly refuses to fund projects that “are not addressing food security for equity-deserving groups.” On the other hand, “Priority will be given to projects that predominantly serve equity-deserving groups, particularly those that are led by or focus on Indigenous and Black communities.” Quite clearly, this is a discriminatory program — one of many that continue to exist in this new era of Liberal leadership. It wasn’t always this way. Back when the Local Food Infrastructure Fund was first created in 2019, initially with a pool of $50 million to be given out until 2024, it was aimed at supporting the food security of “at-risk populations.” At least on its surface, it did not discriminate according to identity. Applicants back then were asked to “include any available data on rates of food insecurity in the community where the project will be implemented” in their application forms. On the top end, multi-million dollar recipients included Food Banks Canada, the Breakfast Club of Canada and the Salvation Army... No longer do the program materials ask applicants to produce data about food insecurity. Nowadays, they’re asked to state whether they support diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI); whether they’re “Black-led or Black-focused”; whether they have a DEI staffing plan; which “equity-deserving” groups they serve; and whether they’re majority-owned by women and individuals whose gender is “gender outside of the ‘woman—man’ spectrum.”... a free set of raised beds for a community garden in an upper- to middle-class, predominantly non-white neighbourhood of Toronto would appear to meet the program’s stated criteria, even though such endeavours are largely recreational. Indeed, the same can be said for low-income communities. Neighbourhood gardens can’t achieve the economies of scale found in industrial farming or the year-round stability of the grocery store, which is why a local Loblaws or Metro does a lot more for food security than a few raised beds. This is just one grant, but it’s emblematic of the whole federal government’s approach to public service. It’s not enough to support food programs for the poor; the feds must also support the gardening hobbies across the cultural mosaic. Similarly, it’s not enough to hire deserving students as youth employment hits 20-year lows; the feds must select their new hires on the basis of identity. It’s not enough that Supreme Court justices are highly competent in the law — instead, they must be half-decent at their craft, bilingual and be the first person with their combination of diversity characteristics to join the court. To the feds, managing a diverse population doesn’t just mean ensuring that discrimination doesn’t happen — it means actively discriminating to redistribute the goods of society. Even something as essential as food isn’t immune."
We're still told that DEI is to ensure that there's no discrimination, and that if you're against DEI, you're against equality, when DEI *is* discrimination

My son is isolated at school as he is the only native English speaker in his class. Other children prefer to speak with friends in their native languages. Is it legal for my wife and I to homeschool him instead?
For the past 3 years our son has been having an ongoing issue in his school. He is being isolated and ignored by the overwhelming majority of his class who either cannot speak English, or simply prefer to communicate with friends in their native language. The school has attempted to handle this, but three years later our child still stands alone in the playground with no one interacting with him. In addition to the isolation aspect, his teacher also privately expressed frustration that language barriers were slowing the pace of lessons. Outside of school our son has 6+ friends in both English-speaking and Tagalog-speaking communities, so this isn't an issue of autism or Asperger's where these children sometimes prefer to be alone. The isolation is upsetting my son. My wife and I are both intelligent individuals with masters degrees. However, neither of us have any background in teaching. Would it be acceptable to home school our son for 3-4 years until he moves to secondary school? This is not for religious or cultural reasons: We're looking to give our child the full curriculum excluded."

We Could Have Settled Mars; Our Regime Chose Global Zimbabwe Instead

Clearly, the West didn't send enough aid:

We Could Have Settled Mars; Our Regime Chose Global Zimbabwe Instead

"Led by DOGE in doing so, the Trump Administration is trying to defund wasteful government agencies and programs, and having at least some success in doing so, even to the point of pushing back against the South Africanization of America. It has cut funding for DEI and, amongst other things, paused USAID spending.

That, in turn, has opened up a whole new can of worms, leading to an examination of what sorts of things America is spending money on at home and abroad. The discoveries have been stomach-churning and headache-inducing. A transgender children’s comic in Peru. The promotion of atheism in Nepal. A chat room for transgender NSA, CIA, and DIA officials to plan sex meetups. $150 million for terror groups. And so on: the worst things imaginable.

But that was all peanuts compared to a related, big revelation: from 1960 to 2013 alone, the West spent a massive $5 trillion on aid to Africa. That’s the equivalent of about 50 Marshall Plans, which rebuilt all of Western Europe after World War II.  And that’s just through 2013; in the years since, America has spent around $8 billion a year on aid to various African countries, particularly former British colonies like Kenya and Italian colonies like Somalia and Ethiopia.

None of that needed to happen. Before 1960, when the aid tally begins, Africa was still a relatively stable place, and one that was invested in from Europe while paying for those investments, rather than just being a black pit into which aid dollars went and out of which came refugees and horror stories about corruption, violence, and backwards beliefs.

Such is what imperialism wrought. While many lies have been told about the European colonization of Africa, particularly the Belgian Congo,  the truth is that across the continent, Belgian Congo included, the Europeans brought peace from tribal feuds, excellent infrastructure, impartial justice to a degree not seen before or since in the continent, and strengthened economic situations and opportunities. Those, at least, were the benefits for the Africans... There were problems with the system of course, and colonies rarely paid for themselves in terms of tax revenue going back to the metropol, but they did provide military and economic opportunities to both sides of the equation.

What that meant was that the system was at least somewhat stable and productive. Europeans had an incentive to invest in the colonies, particularly in Rhodesia-style plantations or South Africa and Congo-style mineral extraction schemes, but also to care about the internal stability of the colonies, as unpleasantness could lead to unrest that upset those investments, thus necessitating reasonably good administration. So, with the Europeans in charge, Africa developed, profited the colonies and the empires, and there were incentives for just and stable rule in place that, if occasionally failing, were at least better than what existed before and has existed since.

So, why did it fall apart?

I’ve discussed this in-depth before in my numerous articles on Rhodesia and America’s involvement in destroying it,  so I won’t repeat myself at length here. A quick summary, however, is this: when they bankrupted and butchered themselves with two World Wars, the Europeans became reliant on America and the Soviet Union, and both powers detested the old order.

Namely, they saw hierarchy and ordered liberty as evil, and needing to be replaced with some form of egalitarianism, with the Americans leaning toward mass liberal democracy and the Soviets toward authoritarian communism. But, as both had the same egalitarian goal in mind, they tended to work with each other to destroy the old colonial order, and only after it was gone did they fight, if they fought at all. This is most clearly seen in Rhodesia, but was equally true of China, Portuguese Angola and Mozambique, Burma, the Suez Crisis, and the Congo. In every case, the Americans and the Soviets aided communist rebels and regimes to destroy the old empires, and in some cases, such as Angola, they fought afterwards. Generally, as in the Congo, they tended to just support the same abominable rebels.

After that destruction of the old empires, little was done by the natives, communists, or Americans to build anything new and functional. Instead, bleary-eyed dictators of the Idi Amin, Macías Nguema, and Robert Mugabe mold took and held power with an iron fist, looting their countries in the process.

Hence, the need for foreign aid. Before Mugabe, for example, Rhodesia was a hugely successful agricultural colony known as the “Breadbasket of Africa” for the massive amount of grain its fertile fields produced. Then Mugabe enacted expropriation without compensation, took the white farmland, and the country starved, necessitating much Western aid to prevent an out-of-control famine. The same is true of the once-rich Congo, of the formerly quite successful Kenyan and Ugandan colonies, of Portugal’s lost possessions, and increasingly of South Africa.

When in the hands of the European powers, in short, the colonies received economic and infrastructure investment that generally built prosperity for the natives, the settlers, and the metropol’s investors for the long term. Now they get “aid,” which is unattached to any economic objective and generally consists of funding for radical leftist causes and money stolen by the ruling clique that ends up spent on foreign cars or sitting in Swiss bank vaults. Or, at least, that’s what they get from the West. The Chinese, with their Belt and Road Initiative, are acting out a much harsher rendition of the old imperial playbook.

Importantly, things didn’t have to be this way. The colonies could have been left in the hands of Europeans, and thus remained relatively prosperous and stable, with America sticking to its domestic affairs, or actually fighting communism, rather than advancing the red flag in the name of egalitarianism and equity.

And what might we have bought with the saved money?

For just half the cost, we could have explored and settled Mars. Yes, really. We could have.

Remember, the cost of aid to Africa since 2012 alone has been around $80 billion dollars, likely closer to $100 billion.

For half of that, a mere $50 billion, we could have embarked on Robert Zubrin’s “Mars Direct” program, even before SpaceX created the Starship rocket that is dramatically reducing the cost of getting to space...

Zubrin’s Mars Direct idea consists of landing small, tested “tuna can” habitats on the Red Planet in which astronauts could live while exploring the planet, testing the soil, and otherwise doing the research necessary for long-term habitation. He envisioned rockets landing small nuclear reactors on the surface to power the bases and water reclaimers on them, growing plants in CO2-filled greenhouses, and eventually building larger bases of brick-covered tunnels...

Further, he envisioned Mars being like colonial settlements rather than modern Africa, meaning a land that uses initial state and corporate capital to build an innovative new society that harvests resources, particularly valuable minerals, so that finished products can be produced more cheaply...

There would be all sorts of problems to overcome, unexpected costs to pay, and dangers to surmount. Further, the likely cost of settlement far exceeds the initial $50 billion figure for the exploration.

But it is certainly within the realm of possibility, and indeed would cost only half as much as our current $8 billion a year aid to Africa...

Mars could be slowly colonized for half the cost of our lighting money on fire by giving it to Africa in each year's budget. Even if the cost doubled since he wrote the paper, and would now be $8 billion a year even with the Starship rocket, that is a cost we can obviously bear, and have borne in a far less remunerative situation (Africa aid). In exchange, we would have a frontier for restless young men to explore and attempt to settle, boundless minerals to exploit and pressures to find new uses for them, and a chance at becoming a multi-planetary species.

The only real tradeoff would be cutting funding for race communism in Africa."

Nestlé’s boss was sacked over an office romance. Now France is in uproar - "  Former French president Francois Hollande notoriously carried on a not-so-secret affair with actress Julie Gayet (who later became his second wife) during his time in office.  When the “tendresse” was publicly revealed, it bolstered his public approval ratings by 5 per cent. And pretty much every French person I spoke to seemed proud that the funeral of Francois Mitterand was attended by both his wife Danielle and his long-term mistress Ann Pingeot...   The interesting aspect is how divided French women often appear over such allegations. There have been prominent women-led movements denouncing sexism in France, such as the BalanceTonPorc (“denounce your pig”) movement launched by journalist Sandra Muller two days before MeToo went viral in the English-speaking world.  The use of “pig” was partly a reference to Harvey Weinstein, who was privately referred to by that soubriquet at Cannes.  But when the counter-sexism movement surged in France, it sparked a reactionary letter signed by prominent older women like Catherine Deneuve and the art critic Catherine Millet.  One notable passage deplored men being disciplined at work or forced to resign “when their only crime was to touch a woman’s knee, talk about “intimate” things during a work meal, or send sexually-charged messages to women who did not return their interest”. It’s certainly notable that all the 50-plus French women I spoke to felt office romances were fine so long as any romance is consensual and, “you do what’s necessary to be discreet.”  One Breton maman said passionately of Freixe’s dismissal, “Human nature clashes with the rules of corporate conduct and HR regulations.” Another woman from a grand country family, who also wished to remain anonymous, recalled that her “ultra conservative” grandmother called her travelling bag her “baise-en-ville” (there is no polite translation for “f—ing in town”), which she said tells you everything you need to know “about the French habits of rural people” going to the metropolis: “They expect a little excitement.”... A British journalist who lives in Paris told me firmly (declining to be named in case her spouse was alerted to her own dalliance): “Love affairs will continue to be regarded as a work perk, so long as you don’t flaunt them or throw a bin at your lover’s head once it’s all gone sour.”  Or, as Francois Valentin summarised the matter when I questioned him, “The Swiss are very different beasts to us Frenchies.” It’s also fair to say we Rosbifs are very different to the escargot-munching French.  Nothing about sex shocks our cousins over the Channel – except, perhaps, for a man losing his job over a love affair."

The initial ruling, handed down in January, saw Ms Valdès ordered to pay €450 in damages and €800 in legal costs. The sentence was accompanied by a penalty of €30 each time the pet crosses the fence again.  The case came to light after the neighbour accused Rémi of reoffending, resulting in Ms Valdès being summoned to court again in December, with a new bill to pay that has risen to €2,000.  She runs the risk of a further €150 penalty every time Rémi crosses the fence... Sorry man. It just comes across as smug and arrogant.  There are absolutely low information voters but really low information disengaged people don't show up at the polls in the first place. In reality people have different situations and therefore different interests. There are millions of engaged people who pay attention to the news and prioritize different things than people in this subreddit.  If anything I'd say there is almost the opposite dynamic going on to one where this subreddit is thoughtful and others are not. This subreddit is very partisan. If a Tory is doing it, it is bad. But outside you have an electorate that will support Doug as long as he says the right things and does what they want - and Doug has been very responsive to that. In fact I've never seen a politician reverse himself so much. He gets a lot of flack from his right flank for not being conservative enough. You see it over and over. He gets heat and he changes his mind, "puts water in his wine" and shifts course. He won't touch culture war issues. He caved to the Teachers union etc.  But whatever course he takes this subreddit is not going to like because it just comes from a very left wing partisan place. And that's just fine. There's nothing weird about being NDP or NDP / Liberal swing.  But assuming everyone voting conservative or being conservative liberal swing is a disengaged zombie voter is obnoxious. It's the kind of thing that's just created more and more of a backlash against progressive voices. People have reasons to want things like lower taxes and an easier commute in their cars etcetera. You may not like what they want. But they are engaged and they vote their interests."

We still can't get rid of Jacinda Ardern - "Jacinda Ardern – darling of the global elite – is rumoured to be in the race to be the next UN Secretary General. Following in António Guterres footsteps, any new candidate must be beloved of the media and political class and adore the sound of their own voice. Cue Ardern, fresh off a flight from Scotland promoting her new film about, err, herself.  In many ways choosing Ardern as UN Secretary General would solve a lot of problems in mainstream media circles. Lacking high-powered women to write listicles about, Ardern’s appointment as the first female UN Gen Sec would keep many columnists in quinoa for some time. The fawning over her “gentler” approach to politics – from attending the UN General Assembly with her then newborn son to writing her memoir: Jacinda Ardern, A Different Kind of Power – makes out that Ardern is just the kind of kind, brave woman we need at the head of international relations. But this love-in masks the reality of Ardern’s political track record.  In fact, like many politicians who go on to influential positions on the global business or political stage, Ardern’s career was a failure. Even her much-lauded and “brave” departure from politics – in which she stepped down because there was nothing “left in the tank” – was a performance intended to disguise the fact that she was indeed tanking in the polls. An embarrassing defeat loomed as Kiwis tired of her puritanical Covid restrictions, woke shenanigans and the fact that the economy and quality of life had sunk under Ardern. Her unpopular decisions to lock New Zealanders out of the country, refusing to let them say goodbye to dying relatives during Covid, or forcing the Births, Deaths, Marriages and Relationships Registration Bill to allow trans people to self-ID do not feature in any assessment of her worth as a political leader. Instead, her toothy grin and photographs of her hugging sobbing survivors of the Christchurch mosque attack in a head scarf will be all that is allowed to endure.  But make no mistake – Ardern as UN Secretary General would be an international disaster. Back in 2022, she revealed her disgust with freedom of speech during an address in which she slammed misinformation and disinformation as a “weapon of war”. Ardern, like her fellow diplomats, failed politicians and appointed grandees, views the public as a seething mass of hate and poison, crying out for an iron fist in a velvet glove to tame them with restrictions, legal curtailments and fierce control over what people can and can’t say to each other about – for example – restrictions during a pandemic. Ardern is the elite people’s princess – a wonder pick for anyone worried that Western publics are getting a little too populist and unpredictable. What can us mere plebs do about the prospect of such a woke authoritarian ending up with significant political power? Nothing much I’m afraid – unlike the EU, the UN doesn’t even pretend to have democratic systems. Our ambassador to the UN Security Council, who appoints the next general secretary, is Gordon Brown’s old private secretary. (Who?) While Ardern’s candidacy is still a rumour, the more you think about her right-on, undemocratic and unpopular political legacy, the more she seems like a shoo-in."

Canadians must act soon to prevent our standard of living from falling | Toronto Sun - "First it was Prime Minister Mark Carney saying that young people would need to sacrifice, now it’s the head of the Bank of Canada warning of a lower standard of living. It seems that Canada’s leadership sees us as a country in decline, but it shouldn’t be this way... Macklem made clear that the kinds of changes we need can’t be handled by the Bank of Canada. It’s up to the federal government and Canada’s business community. “These are more structural changes. I mean, fundamentally, as the senior deputy governor has hammered many times, we need to get our productivity growth up. And if we can do that as a country, we can bend that curve up,” Macklem said.  Carolyn Rogers, the senior deputy governor, has been calling for Canada to make structural changes to our economy to boost productivity and incomes for years. She recently called for more competition in Canada’s banking sector, in other areas of the economy and in breaking down barriers between provinces which still persist.  “Higher productivity won’t make Canada immune to US trade policy, but it would help buffer the effects of tariffs. And it’s the clearest path to boosting real wages, making life more affordable,” Rogers said in Toronto recently. Isn’t that what we should all want? Real wage growth and the thriving economy should be the central focus of all governments at the moment, but it’s not... In his pre-budget speech last week to university students, Prime Minister Mark Carney wasn’t exactly lifting spirits or expectations that things can turn around.  “I will always be straight about the challenges we have to face and the choices we must make,” Carney said. “To be clear, we won’t transform our economy easily or in a few months — it will take some sacrifices and some time.”  That’s a far cry from his election rallying cry.  “We will need to think big and act bigger. We will need to do things previously thought impossible at speeds we haven’t seen in generations,” Carney said on election night.  Now it will take time, time that we sadly don’t have.  As Macklem pointed out in his media appearance on Wednesday, the national unemployment rate has risen to 7.1%."
Time for more regulation, and when living standards drop even more because of that, that will be proof that capitalism has failed

55 per cent of Metro Vancouver residents fear violence on transit - "68 per cent of people in Metro Vancouver feel safe in their neighborhoods at night.  But it’s a different story when it comes to public transportation. With 55 per cent saying they fear being victims of violence while riding a bus or the Skytrain... some people CityNews spoke to say they’ve even experienced or seen violence on transit.  “We were on Hastings and one of the buses there – and a couple of people got on and got into a full-on brawl,” a transit passenger told CityNews. “That was intense.” “I’ve seen some incidents where people who maybe have mental health issues, and they’ll be having outbursts – sometimes physical, sometimes verbal,” a different transit passenger said.  “And I’ve witnessed this a few times.”"
Time to make driving even more expensive and inconvenient so selfish and inconsiderate assholes must take public transport. If you drive instead of taking public transit, you're a bad person

How does the United Arab Emirates’ financing of the Rapid Support Forces perpetuate political violence against civilians in Sudan?
A terrorism supporter claimed that "Zionists" were funding RSF in Sudan because "The modus operandi looks similar to how IDF & Zionists fund ISIS to kill Muslims. They misrepresent Islam & spread Islamophobia. #falseflag #BloodyZionists". Turns out "Zionists" are really Muslims. Even after I showed him this, he continued ranting about how "Zionists" were to blame for Sudan. You can't cure virulent anti-Semitism

unusual whales @unusual_whales: "Amazon $AMZN's AWS is still down. Here are some of the sites affected: Adobe Creative Cloud..."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know: "AWS is not a monopoly. It represents 30% of the web. Sen, Warren also overlooks the fact that many providers went down because their services relied on a single AWS region, a malpractice that is not Amazon's fault. It did not affect Google, X, and many others."

"It gets better! So the ALWAYS ONLINE BED that uploads 20g of data a month requires a 200 dollar subscription to work lmao. If the bed can't access AWS, it can't confirm you have paid the subscription, so it lifts itself upright to keep you from sleeping on it"

What Is ‘Heavy Soda’? The Midwestern Gas Station Secret Is Now a Trend - "if the photos are to be believed, stop at the right gas station and you might be rewarded with the option to choose a soda with extra syrup added straight from the spout... several people messaged to say they — or rather, their teenaged children — had found comments online referencing the C-Barn convenience store in the small town of Farmington, Missouri, not far from my brother-in-law and his fellow pharmacists. Sure enough, the store’s Facebook page posted about running machines with a higher ratio of syrup in September of 2024. “Here at C-Barn we have Heavy Pepsi, Heavy Mt.Dew and Heavy Dr.Pepper!” the post reads, “Aren’t we lucky in Missouri!!!” I spoke to C-Barn’s store manager, Joyce Meadows, and she says it’s a very popular item at several of their local stores. “There are some key things that people say they just have to have, and heavy soda is one of them,” she says. “They say when the ice melts, the flavor is still there.” Co-owner Ray Johnson says that the ratio they use is 3:1, and that it’s been offered there for eight or nine years. It started when the owner of another regional store, Bill Brookshire of C-Mart, decided to address customer complaints of weak soda by turning the syrup up — way up. Johnson remembers that Brookshire, now retired, coined the name “Heavy Pepsi,” and pretty soon, C-Barn customers were asking for it, too. “I personally don’t drink it,” says Johnson, adding that it’s “a little much for the belt.” So, even though many people (including me) have been skeptical that it exists, it’s real. It’s just that it’s found exclusively in a limited rural area and only a lucky few have encountered it. You know, like Bigfoot."

The first EU country to introduce a speed limit for... pedestrians. Fast walking becomes illegal - "Walking briskly will soon be prohibited in Slovakia, after the Parliament in Bratislava adopted a legislative amendment aimed at preventing accidents… on the sidewalk.  According to the new rules, pedestrians will no longer be allowed to walk at a speed exceeding 6 kilometers per hour if they want to obey the law.  The amendment to the traffic law establishes a maximum speed allowed on sidewalks in urban areas of 6 km/h. The limit applies not only to pedestrians but also to cyclists, scooter users, or rollerbladers, who are allowed to travel on the sidewalk. The aim is to reduce frequent collisions between pedestrians and electric scooters... The average walking speed is usually between 4 and 5 km/h, but according to the British Heart Foundation, a pace of 6.4 km/h is considered moderate for a person in excellent physical shape.  The opposition criticized the amendment, and the Ministry of Interior stated that it would have been more appropriate to ban electric scooters on sidewalks rather than impose a general speed limit... The amendment has also sparked a wave of humorous reactions on social media, where several users wondered if they could be fined for running after a bus."

Opinion | Surprising reasons Americans relocate - The Washington Post - "the future may not actually belong to the big “cool” cities; the economically vital “creative class” may not inevitably congregate in such places. This may have been the case before so many of those cities became overly expensive, overly taxed and overly dangerous. But today, people on the move, including the young, have shifted preferences in a major way. In its annual survey, Development Counsellors International, specialists in marketing economic development and travel, found that 41 percent of movers preferred suburbs; 16 percent, small metropolitan areas; and only 13 percent leaned toward large metros. More surprising, 30 percent were seeking rural locations. It isn’t just retirees who are seeking tranquility. Sixty-three percent of rural and small metro counties added residents between 25 and 44 years old from 2020 to 2023, more than twice the percentage of a decade before... One especially shaky speculation is that moves are motivated primarily by the perceived cultural or political character of competing communities. DCI’s survey shows that economics and personal safety dominate relocators’ decisions. When ranking their criteria, last year’s movers named the cost of living and housing affordability in a first-place tie, followed by safety/crime and housing availability. Short commutes, a friendly local population and quality health care come next. Proximity to family also scores high. Trailing far behind are nightlife, arts and culture, and the “cool factor.” At rock bottom are “political/social fit” and “diversity.” These characteristics also rank lowest in relocators’ criteria when seeking a new job. While governments throw millions in cash incentives at corporations, at $50,000 or more per potential job, savvy localities such as Tulsa are landing hundreds of new residents annually with a fraction of such costs. Offering a few thousand dollars for moving and other expenses often does the job, sometimes augmented by an intriguing array of low-cost perks: In Lincoln County, Kansas, the high-school football team shows up to help newcomers move in. Another stereotype that calls for caution: While numerically the hemorrhage of people from states such as New York and California to Sun Belt destinations is unmistakable, the flow is surprisingly two-way. MakeMyMove, one of the entrepreneurial outfits that have emerged to connect movers and Midwest host communities, tells me that, though California is the No. 1 sending state and Illinois an unsurprising No. 4, second and third place are held by Texas and Florida. The surge in remote work plays a role, but not a dominant one. Fifty-three percent of movers wind up taking a job in their new location. The 23 percent who work remotely mirrors the level at which fully remote jobs seem to have stabilized across the economy. The data suggests that state economic development strategies need updating. The standard practice of throwing subsidies at established businesses encourages reckless excess as politicians outbid one other for the opportunity to cut the ribbon on plants, sticking their successors with the tab. Now a hardheaded return-on-investment analysis says that a far smarter retail approach can pay off better, and quicker. One study found that the boost to state and local tax receipts from individual relocations is almost 10 times greater than that from corporate subsidies. The relocators typically bring above-average incomes, and therefore tax payments and consumer spending, and the economic lift starts within months, not after years of abatement."

Links - 8th December 2025 (2 - Donald Trump)

Meme - Distressed man and laptop: "I keep calling Republicans NAZIs like MSNBC told me to but Trump is still president! Why won't this work?!"

Deon Joseph on X - "If you take away the rhetoric of people seeing everything the President does through an “F Trump” filter, at his core, here is what he’s actually trying to do:
-Stop poison that has killed 100,000 Americans a year from coming into this country
- Securing the border and removing those illegally in our nation that take away resources from those here legally as well as those respecting the immigration process.
- Aggresively trying to stop or slow wars that unavoidably drain our resources
- Stop other nations from taking advantage of us from unbalanced trade deals done by former administrations who don’t understand how business works. They only knew appeasement
- Prove that effective and supported law enforcement can dramatically decrease crime in major cities. You don’t need more programs that only serve to create more of an industrial complex. You just need enforcement, accountability and justice.
- Ensure like in other nations that Americans and Americans alone, dictate what happens in our nation through a fair and honest voting process.
- Ensure no nation attacks us in our home soil or injures our interests globally
- Get Americans back in the workforce by having other nations invest back in the US and getting the able bodied off government assistance is designed for those who truly need it.
The other side is trying to stop him from doing it because it exposes how feckless they have been. Not because what he’s doing would be bad for the country.   I get it.  He’s a flawed man.  He’s moving too quickly for some people’s tastes who are used to being strung along or watching Dems and republicans play kick the can down the road.  Yet despite all of his imperfections and character shortcomings; when I take my emotions out of it, I objectively believe his desire is to move past distractions and put Americans first at home and abroad.    Though I agree that he’s a lot of things I am not a fan of, he wants us to win.  Because if we win, he wins. And the guy loves to win."

‘I’ve never seen it this empty’: Trump chaos triggers decline of Las Vegas - "Part of the decline in visitors is because of a fall in international numbers. Canadians, for one, are increasingly steering clear of the US in the wake of Trump’s tariffs and his message that Canada should become America’s 51st state.  But international visitors make up only 12pc of Las Vegas’ visitors. Steve Hill, chief executive of the LVCVA, says this is primarily a story about Americans.   “The reduction that we’ve seen is largely domestic, and at its core is a concern that consumers have about the economy, about their financial situation and their jobs,” says Hill. The Vegas downturn is a hint of what is really going on under the surface of the wider US economy... Ominously, there have only been three years when Las Vegas has seen visitor numbers drop by more than a million, or by more than 3pc, in a single year: the financial crisis in 2008 and 2009, and the 2020 pandemic."

Ritchie Torres on X - "Donald Trump has no greater friend than the far left, which has managed to alienate historic numbers of Latinos, Blacks, Asians, and Jews from the Democratic Party with absurdities like “Defund the Police” or “From the River to the Sea” or “Latinx.” There is more to lose than there is to gain politically from pandering to a far left that is more representative of Twitter, Twitch, and TikTok than it is of the real world. The working class is not buying the ivory-towered nonsense that the far left is selling."

Dissproportionately on X - "I’m seeing moms on Facebook asking for advice how to calm down their terrified children who want to leave the country, and there’s only one good answer: parents, you need to knock this shit off. You are messing up your kids and they will never be well if you continue fear-mongering. All of their anxiety and fear is your fault and you are responsible for fixing it before it’s too late.
I rarely take a stance of “the parents are to blame for this 100%”, but if your preteen is this scared over politics, it’s 100% your fault and you should do the opposite of whatever you have been doing so far."

Collin Rugg on X - "NEW: Psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert says that 75% of the patients he sees have a deep hatred for Trump and are "hyper fixated" on him. "They can't sleep, they feel traumatized by Mr. Trump." "I had one patient who said she couldn't enjoy a vacation because anytime she saw Trump in the news or on her device, she felt triggered."  "So this is a profound pathology, and I would even go so far as to call it the defining pathology of our time."  Insane."
Literally TDS. The left wing media is harming many of their customers

Appeals court throws out massive civil fraud penalty against President Donald Trump - "The ruling spares Trump from a potential half-billion-dollar fine but bans him and his two eldest sons from serving in corporate leadership for a few years... A sharply divided panel of five judges in the state’s mid-level Appellate Division couldn't agree on many issues raised in Trump's appeal, but a majority said the monetary penalty was “excessive.”... The five-judge panel, which split on the merits of the lawsuit and Engoron’s fraud finding, dismissed the monetary penalty in its entirety... “Plainly, her ultimate goal was not ‘market hygiene' ... but political hygiene, ending with the derailment of President Trump’s political career and the destruction of his real estate business," Friedman wrote. "The voters have obviously rendered a verdict on his political career. This bench today unanimously derails the effort to destroy his business.”"

General Mike Flynn on X - "My last words to @realDonaldTrump  in the Oval Office the night I resigned as America’s National Security Advisor were a WARNING about one person.  That person was Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe. I was right then and now the world knows why.   He deserves our nation’s and history’s contempt."
Hans Mahncke on X - "This document ranks among the most disgraceful and infamous records in U.S. history. An acting FBI director launched an investigation into a sitting president based not just on zero evidence but on a lie he knew was a lie. McCabe deserves his long-overdue reckoning."

Natalie Jean Beisner on X - "“We reached out to Biden several times for help. He ignored us.”  President Trump is currently facilitating a peace deal between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. President Tshisekedi intends to nominate President Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize for finally bringing peace to his country.   President Trump is truly the peacetime president!"

Exclusive | Blue-collar wage growth under Trump sees largest increase in nearly 60 years: Bessent - "Blue-collar workers have seen real wage growth of almost two percent in the first five months of President Donald Trump’s second term, the largest increase for any administration in nearly 60 years.   The 1.7% pay bump is in stark contrast to negative growth under Joe Biden, according to new data from the US Department of the Treasury.   Since Richard Nixon in 1969, Trump has been the only president to record positive growth for blue-collar workers in his first five months. He also achieved 1.3% in his first term...   Falling inflation has driven the significant improvement in blue-collar wages, lifting workers’ take-home pay and living standards.   Bessent says wage growth is also fueled by the president’s “emphasis on manufacturing” and commitment to remove illegal migrants from the workforce... The latest year-to-date gain in real blue-collar wage growth, from December 2024 to May 2025, is more than twice the rate of 0.8% growth in the Nixon administration... Trump’s team claims that once the “One Big Beautiful Bill” passes the Senate, as early as July, the economy will get a “double whammy” boon of lower inflation and accelerating wages, a feature of his first term."

Madison Cawthorn on X - "Three years ago, Justice Kagan said that “it just can’t be right” that district court judges could issue nation wide injunctions against a President. Now that Trump is in office, she just voted to keep nation wide injunctions in place. TOTAL POLITICAL HACK."

Why aren't there massive protests in the US? If you're an American, don't you feel it's very warranted? I don't get why aren't there protests like when George Floyd was killed. I'm not an American, I'm just watching the news, and it feels like Americans are just letting the power grab happen. : r/stupidquestions - "I don't think they fear him so much as that they are just complicit.. The owners are billionaires on his side. The lower level employees don't get to decide."
"This is it. The owners of the media orgs are of the mind that Americans wanted this, why fave retaliation if they chose this… safer not to rock the boat as the people chose dictatorship and if that’s the case, then we’ve got to ensure the future of the company for shareholders.  Prob also a time to state that publicly owned and traded news media is a bad idea."
Left wingers are really so delusional that they think the media is on Trump's side and they need to fulminate against him even more. The depths of their delusion cannot be underestimated

Meme - barrettpall: "I did not go to an old friends wedding this weekend bc she was marrying a Trump supporter. Did this hurt her, yes. Did it hurt me, yes. 48 hours later my marriage is on the chopping block. This is why EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL & something's can't just be put to the side.
White women who did not vote for Trump but continue to partner with men who did are the tool that patriarchy relies on. The complicity is just as bad as the crime and it's uncomfortable to sit with bc in the end both are guilty of uplifting this harm."
Imagine being this unhinged. TDS ruins lives

Shemeka Michelle on X - "I went to church today. During the sermon, the pastor told the congregation, as black people, we’ll always have racism to face & hills to climb. He went on to say President Trump would implement slavery again if he could.  After church, I asked him what proof he had to support that statement. He responded, “He said it.” I replied, “He’s never said that. Where did you see that?” Then he said, “I’m not going to argue with you.” I replied, “It’s not arguing. You preached a message of oppression to keep your congregation beholden to a particular party but you won’t offer proof.” He responded, “I’m not talking about a party. I’m talking about an individual and he’s a racist!” Once again, I responded, “How do you know?” He replied, “I’m a black man. He’s racist, but if you want to keep believing what you believe, that’s on you. I’m not arguing with you.” I responded, “You’re being emotional. I’m not arguing. I simply asked for proof.” He continued to say he wasn’t going to argue with me as he walked away.   Many pastors of predominantly black churches are a bunch of charlatans, who are only there to fleece their sheep."
Time to tax black churches since they are interfering in politics?

Meme - The Lincoln Project: "Arresting officials from the opposing party is Authoritarianism 101."
The Lincoln Proj...: "Exactly. We can't hold out hope that the courts will stop Trump. You can hold your breath and hope, or you can take action in November. The only solution to Trump is the ballot box."
The Lincoln Proje...: "We are ready to go to the ends of the Earth to make sure Donald Trump lands in prison instead of the Oval Office this November. We're doubling down too. But instead of trying to drive home insane conspiracy theories, we're trying to save democracy."
The Lincoln Proj...: "Defeating Trump at the polls will be insufficient by itself to secure the future of American democracy. Trump must also be punished by the courts."
The Lincoln Project: "Donald Trump betrayed our country and its secrets. Now, the GOP and his MAGA sycophants want to re-elect him to a position of power. He doesn't belong in the oval office - he belongs behind bars."

Ryan Wesley Routh: Trump assassination suspect says president can execute him if he can beat him at golf - "Ryan Wesley Routh has challenged Donald Trump to a game of golf in a court filing, days before he is set to go on trial for allegedly attempting to assassinate the US president.  In a bizarre motion filed on Tuesday, Mr Routh called for a “round of golf with the racist pig”, claiming Mr Trump could “execute” him if he wins.  “I win, I get his job (sorry hillbilly Vance)”, the suspected attempted assassin wrote."

Ronald Brownstein: "As I wrote this spring, "In words and actions, Trump has shown he views blue states & cities not as legitimate partners in governing, but as hostile territory to be subdued." He governs as a war-time president, America, rather than any foreign adversary, as the enemy."
Brian Allen @allenanalysis: "BREAKING: Tom Homan just threatened to "flood the zone" in New York City with ICE raids after Zohran Mamdani vowed to block federal agents if elected mayor. Cities declaring that they will not enforce immigration law, or even allow immigration law to be enforced, is not a declaration of war against federal sovereignty, of course

Donald Trump is saving Europe from itself - "Donald Trump’s critics insist that he’s wrecking the transatlantic alliance. On the contrary: he’s strengthening it.  President Trump is far more interested in the future of Europe than Joe Biden ever was, and his Eurosceptic approach towards the EU is deepening America’s ties with European nation states at the expense of Brussels.  Trump has an intense dislike of the European Union but is actually the most transatlanticist president since Ronald Reagan, with a deep-seated concern for Europe’s future.  Yet President Trump is the target of relentless attacks by the ruling elites in western European capitals. They sneer at his allegedly radical policies – policies that are making America safer – while decades of open borders and mass migration continue to bring mounting crime and disorder in Europe.  Having just returned from a conference in Austria, I was struck by the outright hostility to the Trump presidency and its ideas from many present. At times it bordered on visceral hatred, combined with a delusional refusal to accept the reality that Europe is in a state of serious economic and cultural decline, tearing apart the fabric of many of its own nations.  Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, his vice-president, were lauded by much of Europe’s media and political establishment despite doing absolutely nothing to strengthen the security of the West."

Donald Trump’s 11 life-changing lessons: Wiser than the Left will admit - "Aristotle says that happiness consists in the active exercise of the faculties in accordance with virtue. Trump employs a different vocabulary, but when he urges us to “think big” (his third lesson) and “work hard” (number four), he is traipsing about the same territory.  At the centre of Aristotle’s ethics is the concept of “phronesis”, or practical wisdom. Trump employs the more familiar term “common sense” (lesson seven), also the master concept of his second inaugural address...  Trump’s final bit of advice is familiar. “Never, ever give up”. Had he listened to the ambient static of our culture, Trump would have given up long ago. Not long ago, he was finished: facing four indictments, fined half a billion dollars, criminally convicted. Any ordinary man would have crumpled. But Trump persevered, and he triumphed. So there is plenty of reason to agree with Trump that the last lesson, never give up, is the most important. I agree that it is important, but for my money, the most acute life lesson is number 10: “be an original … have the confidence to be a little different. God only created one of you; don’t try to be someone else.”"

The real problem with London’s anti-Trump protests? They’re so embarrassing - "Few words in politics have been so degraded as “anti-fascism”. Being an anti-fascist used to mean going to Spain to fight Franco’s forces. Or chasing National Front thugs out of Asian areas. Now it means penning a puntastic placard with the girls from HIIT class and heading down to Parliament Square to scream about the democratically elected president of the United States.  Yes, Donald Trump is back in Britain, for his second state visit, and this can only mean one thing: the UK’s Daunt Books-bothering classes are mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it anymore... If you want to see how populism has tugged at the threads of the fragile, middle-class psyche, check out the video the Stop Trump Coalition put out ahead of this week.  It’s hysterical, in both senses of the word. It’s fronted by Zoe Gardner – the comically posh professional activist you might have seen introduced on the BBC as an impartial “immigration researcher”. Naturally, she thinks the man sent back to Washington, DC by America’s multiracial working class to control the borders and end woke is fuelling “fascism” on both sides of the pond.    That this is a lurid fantasy is beautifully demonstrated by the fact the video has to rely on mock, AI-enhanced news reports, about a Home Office-run “British Defence League” disappearing migrants, to make its point.  Then comes the most (unintentionally) revealing line, where Gardner laments the failures of previous, anti-Trump demos in Britain: “In 2019, we protested against Donald Trump, and we thought, if we shout loud enough, maybe he’ll go away.” There it is. Whinging, bourgeois entitlement dolled up as radicalism. Veruca Salt masquerading as Rosa Luxemburg. This isn’t a movement against “fascism”, it’s a movement against democracy. It’s a howl of polite-society rage against America’s lower orders for daring to defy their supposed betters – just as Brexit voters did over here. The cultural elite is like a giant, spoiled brat, unaccustomed to being told no. If this were about challenging tyranny, why wasn’t the conscience of middle-class Britain stirred in 2015, when Xi Jinping had his pint-swilling state visit? If this is about fighting something akin to fascism, why did Jeremy Corbyn – the grandfatherly mascot of this new generation of Leftish activists – welcome Hamas (a Jew-killing terror army that quashes all dissent in Gaza) to Parliament? It would be tempting just to laugh at these people. And of course we should. But their hysteria comes at a cost.  It dilutes the meaning of fascism and Nazism – reducing it to “Right-wingers who give privately educated bohemians the ick”, rather than a totalitarian, messianic, militaristic system, preaching a cult of racial superiority. When you use these words to attack your opponents you turn the graveyards of the 20th century into a playground in which to have out petty political spats. You might also think that, less than a week after Charlie Kirk was gunned down by someone who thought his views made him the devil, activists would be a bit more wary about throwing around the slurs. But apparently not.  It’s pathetic, in its way. A collective act of cosplay we are all being forced to indulge. These activists aren’t radicals. They’re the rent-a-mob of the technocratic establishment, raging against the populists for sending a wrecking ball into a failed “consensus”. They have to pretend they’re fighting Nazis, so they don’t have to admit they’re fighting ordinary people.  Stop Trump? Let’s stop this anti-democratic derangement that dares to call itself anti-fascism."
