Links - 8th January 2026 (1 - Two Tier Policing in the UK [including Tower Halmets])

Metropolitan Police on X - "The prospect of serious disorder has prompted us to intervene to prevent a protest organised by UKIP from taking place in Tower Hamlets on Saturday. It was calling for ‘mass deportations’ and had caused significant community concerns. More details ๐Ÿ”ฝ"
Northern variant on X - "So you're saying it's a no-go area because Islam is violent?"

Paul Embery on X - "Well, well. The Metropolitan police have banned this weekend's planned Ukip demonstration against 'Islamists' in Tower Hamlets, east London.   The police stated that the protest cannot take place in Tower Hamlets owing to the number of Muslims who live there and the risk of 'serious disorder' breaking out. They added that an alternative location would be acceptable.   You don't have to be a supporter of Ukip or the demonstration to be concerned over the precedent this sets.   Are the police saying that the right of a group to peaceful protest and assembly is contingent upon who may hear its message? That anyone who doesn't like the message need only threaten 'serious disorder', and the police will intervene on their side? That it's fine to protest against radical Islam in, say, Bognor Regis, but not Tower Hamlets?  Is this not proof that there now exist parts of our country in which the well-established norms of protest and debate are off limits? That we have become so fragmented, and so beset by communal sectarianism, that political arguments that may be supported by millions must not be made in certain localities?  What a slippery slope we are on. And of course it will be seen as further evidence of two-tier policing."
When you learn from Singapore

Josh Howie on X - "So if Jews had threatened to kick off you could’ve stopped two years of marches calling for our death?"
Pat Condell on X - "Banning native British people from protesting because Muslims might become violent only serves to underline the pressing need for mass deportations."
Lord Walney on X - "When the Met Police met me and members of Jewish community groups about the threat to Jewish people from the Gaza marches officers said their legal advice was that they could not place a condition on a protest that banned it from an entire borough. Yet this exactly what they have now done to prevent this UKIP protest."

MacPhisto on X - "Odd. Hasn’t the Met Police been saying lately that they don’t have the power to stop marches? It appears that the power is rather selective."
Lance Forman on X - "The police seem so have no problem with Jihadists rallying through London every week and offending Jewish people This is disgusting Two tier policing."

Ordinary people can see two-tier policing with their own eyes - "“There is no two-tier policing. There is policing without fear or favour – exactly as it should be, exactly what I would expect and require.” So said Sir Keir Starmer when asked about the perception of double standards within British policing... Joe Public, who doesn’t live in Westminster or read government briefings, can see it plainly. He knows that if you are on the Right, you can expect the book to be hurled at you with some enthusiasm. But if you are on the Left – and better still, if you are part of a minority group – you will find that same book quietly closed, with a polite nod and a wink sending you on your way.  This dichotomy was laid bare again this week. The Metropolitan Police announced that they would ban a UKIP-organised demonstration in support of mass deportations. The reason? That holding it in Tower Hamlets might provoke “serious disorder”. You don’t have to be a UKIP supporter to see what’s going on here. The message is that the right to protest depends not on the law but on who you are – and who might be offended by your presence. Curiously, this same power to ban a march was not used for two years of pro-Palestine hate marches, many of which descended into open celebration of extremism and violence. Chants of “Jihad” echoed through London’s streets; slogans like “from the river to the sea”, which even Starmer himself now admits are anti-Semitic, became background noise. Men masked, flares fired, hate shouted. None of that was deemed to pose a “risk of serious disorder”.  Jewish Londoners were prevented from walking freely in their own capital. One was told he could not cross the street because he was “openly Jewish”. When I was Home Secretary, I lost confidence with the Metropolitan Police Commissioner who refused to arrest lawbreakers on those marches for fear of starting a riot. The message was unmistakable: if one group threatens violence, the police will run scared and appease. If another obeys the law but holds the wrong views, they will be punished. And last week came another chapter in this sorry tale: West Midlands Police barring Jewish fans from attending an Aston Villa match, on the grounds that their presence in a predominantly Muslim area posed a safety risk. This is not policing without fear or favour. It is policing guided by fear alone.  Let’s call this what it is: political policing, shaped not by the rule of law but by the politics of identity. The police’s overriding imperative is no longer impartiality but avoidance of offence, particularly the offence of militant Muslim groups, or of Sadiq Khan. Meanwhile, anyone else – Right-wing campaigners, gender-critical activists, Jewish citizens – can expect the full and unforgiving force of the law. If the Metropolitan Police truly believe the UKIP march would have caused disorder, then consistency demands that they treat the pro-Palestine marches the same way. Since October last year, over 2,000 protestors have been arrested at those events with over 800 in a single march. How much “serious disorder” does it take before the threshold is met? And how much longer can London’s overstretched police forces afford to devote their weekends to stewarding hate marches while burglaries, assaults, and thefts go uninvestigated?...   In the face of such brazen bias, how can anyone trust the system? How can the police still claim moral authority when their own conduct betrays partiality? There is a reckoning coming – not from radicals, but from ordinary Britons who still believe in fairness, equality before the law, and the old-fashioned idea that the police are meant to protect the public, not police their opinions.  Unless something changes, unless the political class and police leadership rediscover their courage, the entire edifice of trust will collapse. And when that happens, it will not be the so-called “divisive voices” who will have caused it. It will be those who refused to see what was right in front of them."
The UK is learning lessons from Singapore

Free the Southport speech criminals - "When sentencing Connolly, Judge Melbourne Inman baldly asserted that social-media loudmouths like Connolly had played a direct role in the violence that ensued, with their attempts to ‘sow division and hatred… leading to a number of towns and cities being disfigured by mindless and racist violence’. This is the theory underlying the offence of inciting racial hatred: that if you allow people to say hateful things, this will ‘stir up’ yet more hatred and ultimately lead to bloodshed.  The only problem is, it’s bunk. It relies on a low view of human beings that assumes we can be sent into a frenzy by influencers, that latent prejudices can be pricked by intemperate tweets. It also relieves the rioters of some of the responsibility for their own contemptible views and actions – as if they were mere putty in the hands of the accounts they stumbled across on X.  This is why people saying awful things online has become the great, paralysing fear of today’s elites – leading them to pursue speech criminals more vigorously than even violent criminals. Because they think ordinary people are stupid. Because they think we are morally and intellectually ill-equipped to resist, rebut or ignore the bloviations of haters and rabble-rousers. They see censorship as all that stands between civilisation and barbarism. And we are the barbarians."

Mark Heath ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป on X - "Listen to a prison officer whistleblower, she says the people arrested and jailed last year after Southport were deliberately put on wings in prison with Muslim gangs to be attacked! I was one of those imprisoned last year, and this is TRUE! I was attacked by 3 of them, 5 minutes after my cell door was unlocked!"

Starmer's secrecy over Southport 'could have put trial at risk' - "The failure to disclose “basic facts” about the Southport attacker led to “dangerous fictions” that could have prejudiced his murder trial, the terror watchdog has disclosed.  In what may be seen as a sideswipe at Sir Keir Starmer, Jonathan Hall KC criticised the authorities for refusing to reveal details about Axel Rudakubana prior to the trial.  Sir Keir had insisted that disclosing information “ran the risk the trial would collapse” in defending himself from claims of a cover-up.  But writing in The Telegraph, Mr Hall, the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, said withholding information could have been “far more prejudicial” than making the facts public.  His intervention will add pressure on politicians to change contempt of court rules to allow more information into the public domain... “The failure by the authorities to spell out basic and sober facts about the attacker led to contagious disinformation about a murderous Muslim asylum-seeker that stoked the ensuing riots.  “I would go further than that: it led to dangerous fictions that could have been far more prejudicial to the prosecution of Rudakubana than some of the true facts which were suppressed in the name of contempt of court.  “Had there been a trial, jurors could have entered court with the impression that Rudakubana was a Muslim asylum-seeker and, more toxically, that the authorities were determined to hush it up.”  Mr Hall said it would have been “far better” for the authorities “to provide an accurate lead than ineffectual near-silence”...
'A lesson from Southport is therefore, to adapt the words of Justice Louis Brandeis in 1927, more authoritative speech from trusted institutions, not enforced silence'"

Paul Weston on X - "The surreal level of suicidal stupidity shown by white leftists is astonishing.
Muslim warriors: Allahu Akbar!
Weedy white Lefty: No need for that! We are on the same side!
Muslim Warriors: No, we are not.
1979 Iran, all over again. But in the West."

Starmer Sycophant on X - "✅ Masked-up mob of thugs ✅ Palestine & Bangladesh flags ✅ Guy with a “bad leg” today Yep — it’s Mayor Lutfur Rahman’s Tower Hamlets “Unity” demo."
Aja ♀️๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง on X - "You know the red-green alliance that’s been brewing? These are the foot soldiers for it. I just want everyone to understand that to see what’s really happening. It’s not random, and it’s not organic. It’s an alignment of ideologies that might look different on the surface, but share the same enemies and the same authoritarian impulses."

Nicholas Lissack on X - "In Tower Hamlets, masked Islamic extremists stormed the town hall and brought chaos to the streets. They waved Palestine flags, unleashed smoke bombs, and vowed to “honour the martyrs” as terrified locals looked on. No one stopped them. This is Keir Starmer’s two-tier Britain."
Allison Pearson on X - "Reminder: 30 Britons a day are arrested for non-crime hate incidents. Yet police stand by and allow THIS to go on on our streets. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿคฎ"

Eyal Yakoby on X - "BREAKING: Pro-Palestinian Islamists are outside Keir Starmer’s home, threatening him and his family. What exactly are they protesting? Starmer recognized a Palestinian state last week and is actively pushing for a ceasefire."
Michael O'Fallon - Sovereign Nations on X - "For 15 years I spent time sitting in front of leaders in the U.K. and Europe stating "you have a problem that will eventually tear your society to pieces" which was met with rolling eyes and condescending body posturing. Now we are faced with the 2025 reality of police who joyfully arrest people for naughty Twitter posts but at the same time will defend to the death the dismantling of their own nation."

Alex Armstrong on X - "The Whitechapel Islamist sectarian march terrified Londoners with eye witnesses stating they saw “bats” being weirded by “masked men”. Complete silence from the usual suspects. Shabana Mahmoud and Sadiq Khan, why so quiet on this?"

Thread by @habibi_uk on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - ""Zionist scum! We will honour all our martyrs! From the river to the sea!" "Allahu akbar!"  Today's "anti-racist" protest outside Tower Hamlets Town Hall, where they are daring to invoke Cable Street. That's some of the most grotesque perversion you will see in London, even in a city that teems with horrors.  Here, "it's just the Islamic declaration of faith!". Yes, but the colours and styling of the flag signal allegiance to violent extremism, starting with the Taliban.  And that image on the lower right on the banner?
It is a celebration of the 7 October atrocities, shown here at another protest. It reads "Gaza is the occupier’s burial ground".  The image is being pushed by the "Palestinian Youth Movement", yet another set of awful extremists. Just the right vehicle for an "anti-racist" protest. Leila Khaled was a PFLP terrorist hijacker. She's still around. She strongly backed the Hamas atrocities of 7 October 2023.  Shabbir Lakha of the "Stop the War Coalition" bellowing today. Harsh words and boos for Labour, "the real enemy". Another perverse invocation of Cable Street.  And then "we will tear down the flags of the imperialists and the warmongers!".  Don't forget to join the next Israel hatred rally! Do they believe in non-violent resistance? Um, no.  "Takbir! Allahu akbar!" Yeah, we get it, bruv. You're a Muslim.  I don't know about you, but I don't find a bunch of shouting men in balaclavas an appealing call to Islam. Are trade unions backing this hatred rally? Of course they are!
"Hello, we're idiots. We like tyranny and terrorism."
Is this where we are supposed to say "diversity is our greatest strength"?
"The Zionist system, shut it down!" "Allahu akbar! Takbir!"  Extremist flags aloft.  Oh yes, lucky Tower Hamlets is being treated to a proper "anti-racist" protest today. The blood chants for Jerusalem.  "With our souls and our blood, we will redeem you, oh al-Aqsa!"  "From the river to the sea!" "There is no God but Allah!"  "We stand where the Palestinians stand!" "Allahu akbar! Takbir!" "I am here for you, oh al-Aqsa!" "The Zionist government, off our streets!"  "The Labour scum, off our streets!"
A comic interlude. "We are united in the kind of community we want lo live in."  No thanks, Jezbollah. Yay, academics for hatred!
"Zionist scum, off our streets!" "Allahu akbar!"  Do you like the 2025 version of "anti-racist" protests? If older and true anti-racists are horrified by what they see in London these days, let Lou Reed sing for you.
To conclude, I am happy that this has been adopted as something of an anthem for all of us fighting racist "anti-racists". May it rile, in so many ways.  Don't like us? We don't care.  More power to you, stay strong."

Andrew Doyle on X - "The Guardian is spinning these protests as a repeat of the East End resistance against Oswald Mosley’s blackshirts in the 1930s. Many of those who fought at Cable Street were local Jews. How safe would Jewish people feel if confronted by this mob? ๐Ÿค”"

Tommy Robinson ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง on X - "The Met Police banned UKIP and their supporters from protesting in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Only to allow masked mobs of Muslims to take to the streets. Here they tell you why they're there: "We are here to take over your country""

Pippa B ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ ๐Ÿšœ ❤️ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on X - "The @metpoliceuk BANNED the UKIP protest yet they not only allowed this, they didn’t even bother to show up!! There was about 10 officers for hundreds of masked Muslims with weapons !! Don’t ever say we don’t have two tier policing!!"

Pippa B ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ ๐Ÿšœ ❤️ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on X - "1 hour before the peaceful British patriot Southampton protest and the riot vans, horses and dogs are already on the streets! Yesterday masked Muslims with weapons stormed Tower-Hamlets without an officer in sight! ๐ŸŽฅ @YoungBobTPUK"

Firas Modad on X - "This is prime real estate between the City and Canary Wharf. It's occupied by 7th century lunatics on benefits. They've built a militia. They've taken over the Home Office. They're enforcing their laws. Tolerating this is insane."

Andy Ngo on X - "London — Masked Muslim radicals gather in White Chapel to claim ownership of the neighbourhood. They are using BLM chants."
Melanie Phillips on X - "UKIP was deemed too dangerous to demonstrate here -- because this lot might be provoked! So these were the scenes in Whitechapel today as London's East End -- which held off Mosley's fascists in the 1936 Battle of Cable street -- surrendered and Britain was betrayed."

Hundreds of masked Muslim men were walking through Tower Hamlets today, armed with weapons while the police did nothing but ask me to leave. : r/europe_sub - "Was only able to snap one photo as it was not safe to do so. Hundreds of masked men walked around Tower Hamlets in London today. They were chanting allahu akbar, muslim prayers, and called for the takeover of the United Kingdom to become a Muslim nation. While I was there, I saw knives, batons, and other weapons. Hundreds of them have their face is covered and I saw at least two Isis flags and one flag with a sword on it. The police did nothing of course.  The speaker also caught called upon enforcing Shea law and called for all women to leave. However, he did call upon anti-fascism. Which is ironic considering what they support."

Chris Rose on X - "Hang on, so when Jews in were targeted in an Islamist terrorist attack the other week, the hate marchers were still allowed to “protest” in London later that day. But one protest by UKIP is denied for "significant community concerns". Two-tier policing yet again."

Turning Point UK ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง on X - "In 2024, the Golders Green kosher supermarket knifeman was spared jail. In August, ex-Labour Cllr Ricky Jones was found not guilty after calling for throats to be slit. Just last week the Islamist knifeman who attacked someone burning a Quran in London was spared jail. Is it any wonder these terrorists feel emboldened to attack people with knives?  Two-tier justice has consequences."

Keir Starmer on X - "We will not tolerate attacks on our Muslim communities or any form of anti-Muslim hatred."
The British Patriot on X - "A foreign Muslim attacks a singular mosque = £10 million pounds in security.
An Islamist kills two Jews on Yom Kippur = Bans Jews from football matches.
Labour have been covering up decades of Muslims raping British children as young as 8.
Why do Muslims get special treatment?"

‘Brexity things’? This is a new low for the thoughtpolice - "So what are we allowed to say in Britain that won’t get us arrested? In recent months, police have turned up at people’s homes for ‘speechcrimes’ as banal as criticising a local Labour councillor on Facebook or complaining about a school governor in a private WhatsApp chat.  Julian Foulkes, a retired police officer, is the latest ordinary citizen with entirely ordinary opinions to have roused the suspicions of the thoughtpolice. In November 2023, six officers from Kent Police turned up at his house in Gillingham and handcuffed him. They then carted him to a police cell, where he was held for eight hours. He was then interrogated on suspicion of sending a ‘malicious communication’.  The bodycam footage from the raid gives an alarming insight into what the police consider suspect. Officers rifled through Foulkes’s book collection, with one expressing alarm at some of the ‘very Brexity things’ on his shelf. Another leafed through a copy of Douglas Murray’s The War on the West, a polemic against wokeness. No doubt our politically captured police sees this as evidence of a potential extremist threat.   More bizarre still is what triggered Foulkes’s arrest in the first place. During his interrogation, he was shown a screenshot of a tweet in which he warned about a rise in anti-Semitism in the wake of Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack on Israel. He was responding to a ‘pro-Palestine’ marcher who had denied there was a ‘hateful’ undercurrent to the anti-Israel marches in London. Foulkes referenced an incident in Dagestan, Russia a few days earlier, when a lynch mob stormed an airport in search of Jewish passengers disembarking from a flight from Tel Aviv. ‘One step away from storming Heathrow looking for Jewish arrivals…’, he tweeted at the pro-Palestine activist. (Foulkes suspects the authorities interpreted the tweet as anti-Jewish, rather than as anti-racist, as he had clearly intended.)  This entirely innocuous tweet first caught the attention of a Metropolitan Police intelligence unit that normally deals with terrorism and extremism. Kent Police were then alerted about the post and promptly arrested Foulkes the next day. Fearing that police could escalate the matter and he might end up with a criminal conviction, he accepted a police caution.   Cases like this might sound shocking but they are in serious danger of becoming routine and mundane. Julian Foulkes is merely one of as many as 30 people who are arrested every day in England and Wales for expressing views the state considers ‘grossly offensive’. Perhaps the only unusual element to this story is that Kent Police have admitted they went too far and have apologised. This week, Foulkes’s caution was deleted from his record.  If a pensioner can be stuck in a police cell for warning about anti-Semitism, and if his ‘Brexity’, anti-woke books can be treated as potential evidence, then no one is safe from this speech-policing regime. Forces across the UK clearly see it as their guiding mission to monitor our tweets, interrogate our thoughts and correct our beliefs. Which means that just about anything you say, outside of a narrow band of niche, woke opinions, could potentially be criminalised. Britain cannot call itself a free country as long as this carries on."

Kneecap: Met Police confirm Kneecap will not be prosecuted following 'Kill your MP' terror probe - "Counter-terror police have confirmed they will not be charging Irish rap group Kneecap after videos emerged of them calling for the death of British MPs and shouting "up Hamas, up Hezbollah".  A video which surfaced in April of this year showed a member of the group saying: "The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP."  Additional footage from another concert, believed to be from November 2024 at the Kentish Town Forum in London, shows a band member shouting: “Up Hamas, up Hezbollah.”"
So much for the police only going after mean tweets because it's easy and the suspects have created evidence that can be used to prosecute them

More than half of women don't feel safe on the streets of London, shock poll reveals - "A similar number said the capital had become less safe in the last five years. About half of respondents said they had been followed by a man or verbally abused – while almost a third had been physically or sexually assaulted, some on more than one occasion... A similar number (58%) said the mayor was not doing enough to make women and girls feel safe in London."
Time to arrest more people for mean tweets and demonise white men

Benonwine on X - "Woman walking her dog is shouted at ‘Nazi’ and the police tell her to leave her own street because the dog offends the Muslims protesting. This country has gone nuts and lost its moral compass. In the police’s eyes the bad guys are now the good guys."

Peter Lloyd on X - "This is Shafi Momad - a Somali migrant who invaded England in 2020. He's just been convicted of spitting at a police officer in Bournemouth, but AVOIDED jail - despite already serving a suspended sentence for assault. Meanwhile, white people are jailed for spicy tweets.๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง"
