Churchill College Cambridge’s Panel: Churchill Was a ‘White Supremacist Leading an Empire Worse than the Nazis’ - "An academic panel belonging to Churchill College Cambridge has stated that wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill was a ‘white supremacist who led an empire worse than the Nazis’... The panel is chaired by College fellow Professor Priyamvada Gopal, Professor of Postcolonial Studies, who is no stranger to controversy. On June 23rd, 2020, Gopal tweeted “white lives don’t matter … As white lives,” adding: “Abolish whiteness”... Even after her tweets were reported on by the national press, Dr Gopal stood by her remarks, saying the comments were “very clearly speaking to a structure and ideology, not about people.”... The panel, assembled by Dr Gopal to discuss the “Racial Consequences of Mr Churchill”, received criticism before it even convened for failing to include any defenders of the former Prime Minister... Historian Dr Zareer Masani wrote to Churchill College before the discussion even began, warning that the panel lacked any historical expertise and only aimed to “vilify” Churchill.Dr Andrew Roberts, author of Churchill: Walking with Destiny, described the comments as “libels” and that they were “entirely factually incorrect,” adding:

The Left is trying to redefine critical race theory because it's losing - "The Left tried to use last summer’s momentum from the Black Lives Matter movement to push its destructive ideas of so-called “anti-racism” and critical race theory. Now, it's frantically trying to redefine the terms of the debate, as the momentum has built up against it instead. Liberals are now asking that you pay no attention to the curriculum behind the curtain. They have taken to insisting that critical race theory isn’t actually being taught in K-12 schools, even though there are clear examples that show that it is. The New York Times even wrote in July 2020 about the “anti-racism” programs being brought to parents and staff in various school districts. Another New York Times piece published just two weeks ago noted that critical race theory is a "framework that has found its way into K-12 public education." The controversial, Pulitzer-winning 1619 Project, which was riddled with historical inaccuracies and crafted on the false premise that the American Revolution was fought to preserve slavery, has also been pushed into K-12 curricula. The project’s architect, Nikole Hannah-Jones, is among the many liberals trying to cast critical race theory in the narrowest terms possible. She is trying to distance her shoddy “journalism” from critical race theory because the push against it is real and effective... Now, they’re trying to erase their own connections to Ibram X. Kendi, Robin DiAngelo, and other racial hucksters whom they zealously promoted not long ago — people who, yes, have managed to worm their way into K-12 curricula. All of those school districts spending thousands on Kendi’s books, “anti-racism” programs, and bureaucrats with words such as “equity” in their title — now, these clowns want to make us all think that we imagined all of it."
After 8 hours, 250-plus speakers, California board adopts ethnic studies model curriculum - "critics have charged that the writers of the curriculum narrowly defined critical analysis through the prism of critical race theory. It is a specific legal theory that seeks to explain root causes of racist government policies, like exclusionary zoning and public school assignments. They complain that attributing all actions, implicit and explicit, to white oppression would pit students against one another, create tensions and undermine ethnic studies’ goal of empathy and racial progress... state board President Linda Darling-Hammond defended critical race theory and, in the only change to the draft curriculum that the board approved on Thursday, added a definition missing in the document"
Weird. Liberals tell us it's not being taught in schools. But according to Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum - Curriculum Frameworks & Instructional Materials (CA Dept of Education), Chapter 3: Instructional Guidance for K–12 Education mentions that teachers "should familiarize themselves with current scholarly research around ethnic studies instruction, such as critically and culturally/community relevant and responsive pedagogies, critical race theory, and intersectionality, which are key theoretical frameworks and pedagogies that can be used in ethnic studies research and instruction."

One proposed doublethink is that using CRT as a framework isn't the same as teaching CRT. But ironically, CRT tells us that prizing meritocracy and inculcating punctuality is white supremacy culture. The NYC school system is teaching my ten-year-old son that he's racist - "“Unfortunately,” a teacher said, “a lot of racism stems from the home. And just like the video, a lot of people’s grandparents were raised a certain way, and things were different back then, and then their parents learn it and their children learn it, and we need to stop it. And it’s hard, too, because you learn first from your parents and from your family, and we need to learn how to love everyone, and skin color should not matter at all, so this is what we’re trying to do, we need to be the change, and we need to make a difference. And you need to form your own opinions.” What my son heard was that he is racist and doesn’t even know it, and that his parents and grandparents provided this legacy to him. I told him that we need to treat all people with respect, kindness, and with a generosity of heart, and that skin colour is not indicative of a person’s heart. The second part of the lesson took place the following school day. The teachers recapped Friday’s lesson, saying that white people are more likely to get a job, a house, and a decent education than a black person, because this has been "built into our system for generations and generations." This time they showed videos from The New York Times. The final video shows a series of self-flagellating white people who twist themselves into pretzel shapes to try to imagine that they are both not racist and very, very racist at the same time. It was when the teachers raised the issue of white privilege that my son said he felt weird being the only white kid in the conference. He couldn’t tell if he was supposed to feel bad for the kids who are mistreated or feel bad about himself for being racist or if there was anything he could do about it anyway since these problems are ingrained and that he would be racist even if he didn’t think he was. No answer was given as to what action these kids should take to either be not racist or to see that racism does not throttle our country for generations onward. If racism is a systemic problem, and we’re teaching kids to create systemic solutions, what does that look like to a ten year old? Instead of teaching kids about all of the disadvantages their peers have, which basically leads to pity, why not teach kids about how all people are created equally, and we should meet each other where we stand? What are 10 year olds supposed to do about systemic racism, or racism at all? Aren’t they better positioned to simply not be racist? This kind of indoctrination will not make white kids think differently about their own biases, but will instead create biases where there perhaps were none before, and that goes doubly for the children who are in immigrant families. Dividing kids by race leads kids to think they should divide themselves by race, emotionally, socially, and institutionally. It’s easy to prove this, just look at the segregated graduation ceremonies and proms in schools today... I reached out to my son’s teachers for comment, and they responded saying, “I am not comfortable and cannot comment on the record but I would be happy to discuss any concerns you have as a parent and not as a journalist. For the conversations we had we followed the Chancellor’s regulations and guidelines on addressing the issue… I feel that it's not really appropriate to be using our classroom as research.” I can totally relate, since the indoctrination of my 10-year-old into the world of critical race theory seems “not really appropriate” to me."

Chinese-American Parents Condemn Critical Race Theory - "I spoke at an online conference of CAPA-Fairfax County, a local chapter of Chinese-American parent groups in the country, mobilizing to defend merit-based education in the United States.As some participants spoke in Chinese, I could make out some key phrases: “‘moral courage,” “public service,” and “Cultural Revolution.”When it came my turn to speak, I told the Chinese-American parents: you can save America. Multinational corporations have got in on the act, too. Ice-cream maker Ben and Jerry’s has pledged to do all it can to dismantle white supremacy, while elite universities have issued statements denouncing their own institutional racism.The mainstreaming and elite-backing of anti-racism initiatives speaks to a new understanding of racism. Critical race theory (CRT) used to be a minority pursuit, an obscure academic interest. In 2020 it provided the rationale for protests, books, diversity workshops and school lessons... CRT is newly fashionable and highly influential, but it has a long and complex history. Its origins can be traced back to a divide within the US civil-rights movement. Free speech, democracy and legal equality were initially considered integral to the fight for civil rights, but by the end of the 1960s, with progress appearing to have stalled and both racism and poverty still major problems, groups within the movement began to question the efficacy of these principles. Many arrived at the conclusion that legal equality not only left social inequality intact but actually provided the context and justification for its continuation... CRT’s obsession with racial categorisation and white privilege leaves little room to consider the impact of social class on people’s life chances. Indeed, in the rush to construct intersectional hierarchies that position people of colour as oppressed victims of entrenched white superiority, the experiences of wealthy, highly educated, well-connected black people are overlooked. And rather than promoting solidarity between working-class people of all skin colours, poor white people must be taught to recognise their privileges.Some people certainly do benefit from CRT. The academics, experts and workplace trainers that comprise the burgeoning diversity industry make a good living and find an important sense of purpose in revealing our unconscious bias, hearing penance and holding out the promise of absolution. They are morally invested in the existence of racism and cannot afford for it to ever disappear.Members of the wider graduate class of experts, bureaucrats and managers have imbibed the CRT script. They know that, to paraphrase the socialite and journalist Nancy Mitford, referring to ‘people of colour’ is ‘U’ (vocabulary that marks one out as upper class), while ‘coloured people’ is distinctly ‘non-U’. They know that three years ago, the acronym BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) fell out of fashion and was replaced by BAME (with Asian specified). And they know that BAME itself is now on its way out. Attitudes change and language evolves over time but policing vocabulary in the name of enforcing anti-racism is how today’s graduate class shores up its moral authority and social status. Their special insights into white privilege and the impact of microaggressions allow them to justify their position. This elite anti-racist project is terrible for everyone else. Black and white people alike are reduced to their skin colour and set in opposition to one another. Black people must learn to see themselves as victims, white people as privileged oppressors. Back in the days of empire, upper-class British boys were trained up for a life in the colonies, they had a role to fulfil managing and civilising the natives. Over a century on, the natives are now at home rather than abroad, and white rather than black or brown, but the civilising mission remains the same. It is now white working-class men who are made to atone for their privilege in a neverending process of repentance. As DiAngelo puts it: ‘A positive white identity is an impossible goal. White identity is inherently racist; white people do not exist outside the system of white supremacy.’ We have a new elite that uses not racism but anti-racism to invent differences between people which it exploits for its own ends. These radicals do not want to end racism but for it to continue indefinitely. They must not be allowed to get away with this."

‘Black linguistic justice’: Professors demand end to standard English as the norm - "A national professional association of writing instructors recently published a list of demands that argued the current emphasis on standard English is rooted in racism and called for a complete overhaul of how language is taught.It was published by a subcommittee with the Conference on College Composition and Communication, part of the National Council of Teachers of English.The statement called for an end to “White Mainstream English,” arguing such an action would “decolonize” students’ minds and the English language, as well as help students “unlearn white supremacy.” The demands were written by five English professors and a writing scholar and the document is titled: “This Ain’t Another Statement! This is a DEMAND for Black Linguistic Justice!” “The language of Black students has been monitored, dismissed, demonized—and taught from the positioning that using standard English and academic language means success,” the professors argued... While the professors push for black language to be taught to students by black language experts, they also demand that nonnative speakers “refrain from engaging in Black linguistic appropriation.”"

Arizona State Dean: Grading Writing Based On Quality Is ‘Racist,’ Promotes ‘White Language Supremacy’ - "An Arizona State University Associate Dean penned a 358-page book detailing how grading student’s writing is a form of racism and white supremacy.In a book titled “Labor-Based Grading Contracts: Building Equity and Inclusion in the Compassionate Writing Classroom,” professor Asao Inoue encourages teachers to ditch grading for a “labor-based” grading system wherein students earn grades based on their effort. The quality of a student’s writing would not help or hinder their course grade... the author admits that the theory of “labor-based” grading is rooted in critical race theory... Critical race theory contributed to Inoue’s idea that ranking things is a system rooted in racism. Because grading is a form of ranking, grading must also be a racist idea. In his book, Inoue dubbed grading and the education system writ large “racist” for their connections to ranking... Nearly every U.S. school requires children to speak and write in proper English during English and literacy classes. According to the author, holding students to that standard is racist.“The traditional purposes and methods used for grading writing turn out to be de facto racist and White supremacist,” Inoue writes. “Grading by a standard, thus, is how White language supremacy is perpetuated in schools.”... Speaking proper English is considered a “white racial habitus.” According to the book, all things that are derived from the “white racial habitus” are inherently “white supremacist.”... My red-headed brother can synthesize Vitamin D faster than others – a genetic adaptation that would give him an advantage in cold, gloomy locales. If you drop him in the tropics, however, he'd fry in 10 minutes flat.
But the widespread Vitamin D deficiency among those with darker skin who now live in colder, less sunny climates – and the possible health connections – isn't something we're allowed to discuss. We're only allowed to to support the dismantling of the white, colonialist patriarchy.

They then admit a sentence later that this disparity was because "white patients were perceived to advocate for cardiology admission more often and more intensely," which has zero to do with institutional racism and everything to do with education and advocacy.

To go about this, they plan to enlist the tools of critical race theory (CRT). They slam what they call "colorblind policies," or the concept of equality for individuals of all races and ethnicities under the law, saying that it is not achieving their desired ends with enough speed... But what about existing laws, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bars discrimination that favors come racial groups over others? The doctors have thought that through, too. They think that those laws are not that important."

Kimya Dennis, who conducted a three-day training on gender discrimination for Guilford County principals and assistant principals earlier this month. Dennis’ Twitter account is inactive, but both TCB and the N&R report she tweeted on Jan. 8:
“This week I have nine (9) trainings-presentations for school assistant principals and school principals,” Dennis tweeted. “My trainings-presentations include a request that most books used in schools be burned. “Stop using white history, white mathematics and white science as the foundation.”

Revolution Consumes New York’s Elite Dalton School - WSJ - "The Dalton School, an elite private prep school in New York’s Upper East Side, is experiencing something of a moral panic... The demands read like a manifesto to codify permanently the “oppressed” status of black students and teachers. Among them:
• Expand the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to at least 12 staffers. That works out to about one for every 100 students and would cost at least $1.5 million a year. What will they do all day? No doubt ferret out ever subtler racist infractions, real or imagined. The diversity industry needs friction to survive, so it perpetually reworks the definition of racism.
• Reroute 50% of contributions to Dalton to the New York public school system. An effective 50% tax rate on donations—the lifeblood of any private school—is a good way of ensuring that alumni close their wallets. How will the school pay all those diversity officers?
• Compensate “any Black student or student of color” who participate in antiracism initiatives or has his images used in school publications. Financial favoritism based solely on skin color seems an invitation to a civil-rights lawsuit.
An interesting side note is that the manifesto specifically distinguishes blacks from others “of color,” asserting that “anti-Blackness must be understood as distinct from ‘racism’ writ large.” One wonders when the “of color” community will start bristling at being thrown under the bus.
• Require courses focusing on “Black liberation and challenges to white supremacy” and “yearly anti-racist training” for not only employees but trustees and Parent Association volunteers. It’s hard to imagine parents—who are, after all, the school’s customers—enduring re-education sessions for the privilege of working free at the school. Administrators, faculty and staff would also be expected to “produce individual public anti-racism statements.” Such statements aren’t meant to be simple disavowals of racism, but rather advocacy of this new activist approach.
• “Ensure that there is no correlation between a student’s racial background and their ability to be successful at Dalton.” That means abolishing “tracked courses” by 2023 if blacks aren’t “at parity” with nonblacks by then. “Lowering the bar is not the way to achieve equality, and frankly, it’s insulting,” one Dalton mother, anonymous for fear of repercussions, tells me. She adds that many of her counterparts, suitably woke and having little problem with most of the demands, have decided that this is where they draw the line.
It goes on like this for eight pages. The Dalton endowment is $64 million, so annually it throws off about $2.5 million to the school’s operating budget. That number gets blown through by page three. Setting aside economics, the overall theme is a leveling of outcomes. It is telling that the manifesto begins with a quote from a Marxist professor named Robin Kelley, someone who professes admiration for Trotsky’s “permanent revolution.” Should the Dalton administration give in to every last demand, there will be a new list tomorrow. The goal posts move quickly in this racket. Which brings us to the pickle in which Dalton finds itself. This fall, Dalton never opened for in-person schooling. It was among the very few private schools in the city that didn’t. Parents have been paying $54,000 tuition for Zoom classes, and they’re unhappy. Headmaster Jim Best recently instructed the teachers to return after the Christmas break, but he gave them plenty of leeway to say no, including if they felt “uncomfortable.” Despite the school’s motto, “Go Forth Unafraid,” a solid majority demurred. Some black teachers cited racism because they, on average, commute farther and therefore have to endanger themselves on public transportation. Mr. Best stood his ground and tightened the list of acceptable excuses, according to someone inside the process who spoke on condition of anonymity. That insider says teachers angrily responded that Dalton was “showing its whiteness” and “bowing to a right-wing conspiracy.” The fracas over reopening fueled passions over the racial demands... Dalton has always been at the progressive leading edge, so being labeled “systemically racist” from within is a palpable irony. But it’s been clear since 1789 that revolutions eat their own. The uber-woke, demanding purity, come for the moderately woke first. Dalton’s leaders may be coming to realize this. They have heretofore been happy enough to burnish their woke credentials, but now they seek a comity they cannot achieve."

California Leftists Try to Cancel Math Class - WSJ - "The framework recommends eight times that teachers use a troubling document, “A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction: Dismantling Racism in Mathematics Instruction.” This manual claims that teachers addressing students’ mistakes forthrightly is a form of white supremacy. It sets forth indicators of “white supremacy culture in the mathematics classroom,” including a focus on “getting the right answer,” teaching math in a “linear fashion,” requiring students to “show their work” and grading them on demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter. “The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false,” the manual explains. “Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuates ‘objectivity.’ ” Apparently, that’s also racist. The framework itself rejects preparing students to take Algebra I in eighth grade, a goal reformers have sought since the 1990s. Students in Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan master introductory algebra in eighth grade or even earlier. At one time, California took the goal seriously and made immense progress. California Department of Education data show that while only 16% of students took algebra by eighth grade in 1999, by 2013, 67%—four times as many—were doing so. Success rates, meaning the percentage of students scoring “proficient” or above, kept rising even as enrollment increased dramatically. The biggest beneficiaries were ethnic minority and low-income students. While student success tripled overall, African-American students’ success rate jumped by a factor of five, and Latinos’ and low-income students’ by a factor of six... The framework explicitly rejects “ideas of natural gifts and talents.” That some are gifted in math implies some others aren’t, and this is “inequitable.” The framework’s authors also fear that those designated “gifted” may have their fragile egos hurt if they later lose that designation. So it writes an obituary for gifted-and-talented programs, which would hobble the rise of many talented children in California. The framework rejects ability grouping, also called tracking, even though studies show that students do better when grouped with others who are progressing in their studies at the same pace. We have known for years, including from a 2009 Fordham Institute study of Massachusetts middle schools, that schools with more tracks have significantly more math students at advanced levels and fewer failing students. The proposal’s agenda becomes clear when it says math should be taught so it can be used for “social justice.” It extols a fictional teacher who uses class to develop her students’ “sociopolitical consciousness.” Math, it says, is a tool to “change the world.” Teachers are supposed to adopt a “culturally relevant pedagogy,” which includes “the ability to identify, analyze and solve real-world problems, especially those that result in societal inequalities.” Under this pedagogy, “students must develop a critical consciousness through which they challenge the status quo of the current social order.” Don’t think that kindergarten is too early for such indoctrination: “Teachers can take a justice-oriented perspective at any grade level, K-12,” the curriculum revisionists write. Students could be taught fractions in the distracting process of learning the math of organizing a protest march. This program is quite a comedown for math, from an objective academic discipline to a tool for political activism. Society will be harmed: With fewer people who know math well, how are we going to build bridges, launch rockets or advance technologically? Students will pay the heaviest price—and not only in California. As we’ve seen before, what starts in California doesn’t stop here."

Can Chloé Valdary Sell Skeptics on DEI? - The Atlantic - "The diversity, equity, and inclusion industry is booming as corporations, government agencies, high schools, colleges, and nonprofit organizations clamor for its services. Advocates insist that formal instruction in anti-racism yields more inclusive, equitable institutions. Skeptics object to what they characterize as coerced indoctrination in esoteric theories, or charge that prominent consultants like Robin DiAngelo, author of the best-selling White Fragility, traffic in false and divisive racial stereotypes. Still others cite studies finding that diversity training sessions are actually counterproductive. Valdary is unusual because she shares many critiques of the multibillion-dollar “DEI industrial complex,” as sardonic observers call it, even as she argues that her framework avoids the flaws of her competitors’. “We teach love and compassion,” her website insists. “Let us train your team.” What’s more, Valdary pledges, “We do not dehumanize, stereotype, or caricature anyone who seeks our services.”... On the right, a defining feature of communities that voted for Trump at the highest rates was their alienation. She cited Tim Carney’s carefully reported book Alienated America, in which he shows that Trump was more popular in places where fewer traditional connections existed among citizens. ”These were communities where the civic life and civic institutions in the community evaporated,” Valdary wrote. “Churches were shuttered; communal life dithered … It was precisely the absence of a shared sense of belonging and communal life that led to an increase in deaths of despair, opioid addictions, aimlessness, and the like.” In this respect, folks on the “woke” left and the “reactionary” right want the same things, Valdary observed. “Alienation is a massive culprit re our societal woes … Groups who are fighting against it can only see how it affects *their in group* but not their adversary.”"

California Is Cleansing Jews From History - Tablet Magazine - "when the first draft of the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC) was released, Kaplan couldn’t believe what she was reading. In one sample lesson, she saw that a list of historic U.S. social movements—ones like Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, Criminal Justice Reform—also included the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement for Palestine (BDS), described as a “global social movement that currently aims to establish freedom for Palestinians living under apartheid conditions.” Kaplan wondered why a foreign movement, whose target was another country, would be mischaracterized as a domestic social movement, and she was shocked that in a curriculum that would be taught to millions of students, BDS’s primary goal—the elimination of Israel—was not mentioned. Kaplan also saw that the 1948 Israel War of Independence was only referred to as the “Nakba”—“catastrophe” in Arabic—and Arabic verses included in the sample lessons were insulting and provocative to Jews. Kaplan, 53, a Bay Area mother of two grown children who describes herself as a lifelong Democrat, was further surprised to discover that a list of 154 influential people of color did not include Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, or Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, though it included many violent revolutionaries. There was even a flattering description of Pol Pot, the communist leader of Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge, who was responsible for the murder of a quarter of the Cambodian population during the 1970s. Kaplan began calling friends. “Have you read this?” she asked, urging them to plow through the 600-page document. The language was bewildering. “Ethnic Studies is about people whose cultures, hxrstories, and social positionalities are forever changing and evolving. Thus, Ethnic Studies also examines borders, borderlands, mixtures, hybridities, nepantlas, double consciousness, and reconfigured articulations. …” This was the telltale jargon of critical race theory, a radical doctrine that has swept through academic disciplines during the last few decades. The new curriculum, which will eventually be promulgated throughout the California school system of 6 million children, would “critique empire and its relationship to white supremacy, racism, patriarchy, cisheteropatriarchy, capitalism, ableism … and other forms of power and oppression,” according to the proposal. It would “build new possibilities for post-imperial life that promotes collective narratives of transformative resistance.” Capitalism was classified as a form of “power and oppression,” and although “classism, homophobia, Islamophobia, and transphobia” were also listed as forms of oppression, anti-Semitism was not. Jewish Americans were not even mentioned as a minority group... it was a crude pastiche of idiosyncratic neo-Marxism that advocated the end of capitalism and divided the world into a simple polarity of victims and oppressors. The victims, according to this schema, included four groups: African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinx, and Native Americans... since California has the largest school system in the country, any curriculum it adopts will be exported to the rest of the country. As a refugee from the Soviet Union, she understood the challenge intimately. “The reason I’m doing this—full time and not sleeping” she said, is that “this curriculum is pervasive and all-inclusive. It creates a means of understanding the world that does not allow questioning. And it’s a view that actively invites anti-Zionism into the classroom. It requires it. This is the greatest threat facing American Jews today.” Kaplan wasn’t the only one upset about the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum. Clarence Jones, former legal counsel and speechwriter for Martin Luther King Jr., in a letter he wrote to Gov. Gavin Newsom and the state’s Instructional Quality Commission, called the ESMC a “perversion of history” for providing material that refers to non-violent Black leaders as “passive” and “docile.” Jones, who is co-founder of the University of San Francisco Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice, decried the “glorification” of violence and Black nationalism as “role models for the students,” and rejected the curriculum as “morally indecent and deeply offensive.” The unassailably liberal LA Times editorial board weighed in, criticizing the offering as “an impenetrable mélange of academic jargon and politically correct pronouncements” that served as an “exercise in groupthink, designed to proselytize and inculcate more than to inform and open minds.” It warned it was “in bad need of an overhaul.” A group of Asian Americans urged the state to develop a program that would “inspire ethnic pride in all students and inspire them to work together, rather than against one another,” while Hindu, Korean, Armenian, and Sikh groups complained of being left out as did several Jewish groups. The California Legislative Jewish caucus published a letter saying the ESMC “effectively erases the American Jewish experience.” Several émigrés from the former Soviet Union found the curriculum so traumatizing they couldn’t read it through. Three hundred signed a letter to Gov. Newsom and other state agencies saying: “We escaped a Marxist-socialist system and its associated tyranny and oppression. Never could we have imagined that, decades later, the same ideology and concepts that we escaped, would show up in, of all places ... the California Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum.” They wrote of their shock at seeing Marxist “code-words” in the text, such as urging students to fight for a “truer democracy,” which Marx used to refer to the abolition of private property. They also noted other terms that look innocuous or even enlightened to the uninitiated, such as “transformative resistance,” “radical healing,” “critical hope,” have specific meanings in critical race theory, which the ESMC explicitly directs teachers to use as the key theoretical framework for teaching ethnic studies. Critical race theory in education, writes Daniel Solorzano, a scholar cited in the ESMC, “challenges the traditional claims of the educational system such as objectivity, meritocracy, color-blindness, race neutrality, and equal opportunity.” Critical race theorists argue that these traditional claims act as a camouflage for the self-interest, power, and privilege of dominant groups in U.S. society. CRT is not just an educational pedagogy that seeks to overturn academics as we know it, but it is also a guide for activism “animated by the spirit of the decolonial, antiracist, and other global liberationist movements.”... George Murray, who also served as the minister of education for the Black Panther Party, declared the U.S. Constitution was a “lie” and the American flag was a “piece of toilet paper” deserving to be flushed. He also attacked Jewish people as “exploiters of the Negroes in America and South Africa” and called for “victory to the Arab people” over Israel. Many of the 18 people chosen by the State Board of Education’s Instructional Quality Committee to create the ESMC hail from San Francisco State’s School of Ethnic Studies, and most are adherents of the radical critical ethnic studies movement who refer to themselves as scholar-activists. Kaplan reports that State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond admitted in a 2020 meeting with Jewish groups that there were problems with the creation of this group that allowed it to be politicized, and we have put systems in place to make sure they do not recur. Nevertheless, in 2020, Gov. Newsom signed into law AB 1460, which requires that every student in the Cal State system—the largest four-year public university system in the country, of which San Francisco State is a part—take a three-unit course in ethnic studies. The governor’s decision defied the recommendations of the university’s own chancellor, members of the university’s board of trustees, and the university’s academic senate, all of whom opposed the bill, objecting to the government’s unprecedented intrusion into the university’s curriculum... the city of Seattle has already created a proposed framework for implementing ethnic studies throughout its K-12 curriculum. Math teachers will ask the following questions: “identify how math has been and continues to be used to oppress and marginalize people and communities of color,” “analyze the ways in which ancient mathematical knowledge has been appropriated by Western culture,” “how important is it to be right?” and “Who gets to say if an answer is right?” It appears educational leaders are all for this. The president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Robert Q. Berry III, told Education Week: “What they’re doing follows the line of work we hope we can move forward as we think about the history of math and who contributes to that, and also about deepening students’ connection with identity and agency.” This, despite the fact that students in the United States already perform poorly in math... One of the selling points for ethnic studies is that it would help California’s students do better in school overall... Almost every article touting the ESMC makes reference to a single paper that showed some improvement in at-risk students who took an ethnic studies class... Dee cautioned that his study was small and its results not easily scalable. He explained that the teachers who offered the classes had spent “years developing them and getting them right” with the help of outside experts. “This kind of pedagogy requires teacher skills of a high order,” he said. He is not sure the ESMC, a huge statewide top-down project, is focused on providing the kind of sensitive, close teaching that produced the positive results. He is critical of the ESMC’s chaotic rollout, which he characterized as a “hot mess.”... Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, director of AMCHA Initiative, which fights campus anti-Semitism, points out that all 13 founding members of the Critical Ethnic Studies Association (CESA) are BDS activists... of even greater concern to Jews, she believes, is the singling out of Jewish students as enjoying racial privilege... To placate critics, the third version has added lessons about Korean Americans, Armenian Americans, and Sikhs. Two lessons have been offered about Jews. One, following crude CRT dogma, teaches that Mizrahi Jews coming to the United States from Arab lands were mistreated by “white” Ashkenazim. The other suggests that Jews of European descent have white privilege. The Jewish Journal points out that Jews are the only group in the curriculum for whom the term “privilege” is used. And this privilege is not earned by way of talent, or educational and professional attainment, but rather trickery. The ESMC, echoing Nazi propaganda about Jews as impostors and appropriators hiding in plain sight, points out that American Jews often change their names (“this practice of name-changing continues to the present day”) to change their rank in the social hierarchy... “I’m a progressive Democrat and have been for my entire life, and I come from a family of Democrats,” she said. “I don’t understand how someone who claims to be progressive can say they are against Israel. Israel is one of the most successful countries in terms of the indigenous rights movement. They have reclaimed a culture that was decimated and denied, reclaimed their religion, their peoplehood, and language in their traditional indigenous land. This is something that progressive people all around the world should hold up as an example, not demonize.”"

This happened last November when a school district in Washington State was having trouble demonstrating how very racist they were because Asian-Americans were scoring higher than "people of color" are supposed to in a white supremacist country, even exceeding the scores of the supposed white supremacists at the top of the supposed racial tyranny. Nobody likes the guy who messes up the curve, kid. Nobody. To fix this obvious error, they approached it as any statistician seeking impartiality and social justice would and just combined the scores of Asian-Americans with those of white students thus creating the desired amount of oppression... Asian-Americans' relentless academic success has even forced Ivy League universities to artificially reduce their admittance... The appeals court eventually ruled that the schools don't discriminate against Asians, instead, they are trying to create a diverse campus by discriminating against Asians. But don't let that confuse you, it's not "racial profiling," because we're going to just ignore that right now... Asian-Americans also appear to be a bit perturbed that while the left is only too eager to rise to their defense when it appears they can use the attacks on them against their political opponents, they seem decidedly less eager when it's their political allies doing the attacking... the Chinese American Citizen Alliance Greater New York (CACAGNY) took direct aim at the ideology behind all this, and pulled exactly zero punches, saying: Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a hateful, divisive, manipulative fraud."

Leftists Are Pushing Asian Americans Out Of The Democratic Party - "A recent spike in Asian hate crimes has led to leftist and corporate media that deliberately refuse to talk about the perpetrators and their motives. They insinuate the hate crimes are due to either structural imbalances in society or a direct result of white supremacy rhetoric. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez bizarrely blamed the rise in attacks on Asians on former President Trump. The New York Times also attributed it to Trump’s alleged xenophobia with the term “Chinese virus.” NBC News even went further, pondering whether violence against Asians should really be considered a hate crime, given that Asians are privileged and it might hamper the fight against “systemic racism.” Outlets refuse to acknowledge who the crimes (including murder, gang rape, and assault) are committed by or fear of a backlash from activist groups. As with most attacks on Jews in New York city, most of the perpetrators are black. Meanwhile, real “systemic racism,” as in racism perpetuated in a systemic way by figures in authority specifically targeted at any minority race, is happening against Asians. America’s oldest and top medical journal recently wrote that Asian Americans must recognize their position of privilege now. This idea is a direct result of the perpetuation of critical race theory, where success, hard work, and other conservative values are considered “white supremacy.”... A stable family structure is important for a disciplined life, which in turn is important to developing an instinct for success. This is not racial. It is simply the kind of character and values that help people succeed. The evidence on this is overwhelming and cross-racial. Anyone who adopts these values has a better chance to succeed in life. Broken families and fatherlessness are directly correlated with lack of academic and career success, so much so that it forms a pattern too large to ignore. But they are ignored, as these are taboo to mention in leftist circles. Hollywood has perpetuated a myth that humans cannot be culturally superior or inferior. Consider the Hollywood telling of origin stories that feature evil characters who reinforce the central leftist myth that all evil results from early traumas, social oppression, or toxic ideologies, and not from any evolutionary or cultural influences. According to modern philosophy, one must always be a victim of circumstances or structural inequality. Naturally, when Asian Americans shatter that myth through sheer hard work, they also bust the narrative of white supremacy and structural racism. There are then only two weapons leftists see: Either to offset that success with affirmative action, which actively harms anyone intelligent, or to call successful Asian Americans a cog in the machine of “white supremacy.” Why is there no collective fight against this? John Yoo and Avik Roy wrote in 2019 that the natural home of Asian-Americans is in the GOP. They are a natural match with conservatism, from work ethic to sexual politics to academic success. Yet it appears Republican leadership has squandered that opportunity... The first thing Asian-Americans need to do is have something akin to Mumsnet in Britain, the nascent forum that formed the backbone of middle-class British mothers to organize against left-wing politics, to write petitions, organize mass calls, and coordinate movements, to pressure universities, schools, and local politicians. Second, they need to form local committees and groups not just for physical safety, but also to form a pressure bloc in local politics. Third, they need to stand for elections, in a political party that supports hard work and success. Asian Americans and Indian Americans are mostly middle class, the class that gives the most back to society while getting the least in return. Their cultural instinct is to put their heads down to work hard and save money and have a family and not make much of a fuss. But those days are coming to an end. Asian Americans need to urgently understand that a society where success, discipline, ambition, and other conservative values are in considered traits of “white supremacy,” and affirmative action is implemented to offset them, is not a society where they can ever thrive, succeed, or even survive."
Chinese-American Parents Condemn Critical Race Theory - "Some of CRT’s hate speeches against Asians are obvious: Too many Asians and Stuyvesant doesn’t look like the City need no explanation. They can also be subtle. For example: Stuyvesant is not diverse. Since when is it not diverse for a school to have dozens of languages spoken at home, all major world faiths practiced, most cultural experiences inherited, from ancient civilization-building to rise and fall of empires, to slavery, colonization, revolution, and diaspora? Even if CRT dismisses all this and reduces everything to just looks — do all Asians look alike to them? Another trend that should concern us is CRT’s coming collision with immigrants. Black militancy was always receptive to the view that immigrants steal jobs and resources from Blacks, but the bigger irritant is immigrant values. Arriving with little more than their human capital, immigrants are grateful to be here, work hard and educate their children hard, and believe in the American dream under the Constitutional guarantee of equal rights. Most infuriating for CRT is that immigrants, including Blacks from West Africa and the Caribbean, are making real progress. When CRT eventually clashes with immigrants, we will find CRT’s racism and hate against us ratcheted up another notch."

Academic who was sacked after calling right-wing commentator a 'house n***o' sues for discrimination - "An academic who was sacked after calling a Right-wing commentator a 'house n***o' is suing the university which cut ties with her for discrimination against her belief in critical race theory and black radicalism. Aysha Khanom lost her advisory role with Leeds Beckett University after her organisation The Race Trust, a charity offering 'racial literacy' training to schools, made an incendiary tweet about Calvin Robinson. She is now suing the university, claiming that her dismissal discriminated against her political beliefs. The case could see black radicalism - an academic movement which argues race is a social construct used to oppress minorities - made into a protected belief system, like religious belief. Ms Khanom is being supported by Professor Kehinde Andrews, who branded Churchill a 'white supremacist', arguing the term 'house n***o' is not a 'racial slur' but a 'concept that come out of struggles for racial justice'... Mr Robinson, who has written as a commentator for the Daily Mail, had described on an episode of the BBC's The Big Question that evening the abuse that he had received for being both black and Right-wing. He had said: 'For example I have been called Bounty, Uncle Tom, house n***o for not having the right opinion.' The Race Trust account then responded to a critic of its remarks on Twitter, calling them a 'coconut'... Ms Khanom worked for Leeds Beckett University on an advisory basis through its 'Centre for Race, Education and Decoloniality' but it cut ties with her and condemned 'the use of racist language'. On an online fundraising page created to raise £5,000 to cover her legal costs, Ms Khanom claimed she was the victim of a 'network of alt-Right activists'... 'Fundamentally, this is an important issue of freedom of speech.' Ms Khanom said the tweets were not sent by her, adding: 'No academic should find their contract terminated so publicly in the absence of a fair and thorough investigation.' Emilie Cole, a co-founding partner of Cole Khan solicitors, which is representing Ms Khanom, told the Guardian: 'Immediately publishing her termination on Twitter and publicly condemning her as racist was a gross abuse of power and sets a dangerous precedent. ' Ms Khanom's case is of significant importance for everyone who stands for academic freedom, freedom of speech and equality.'"

Lowering expectations in education is just a form of soft bigotry - "In the first semester of the 2019-20 school year, the San Diego Unified school district board discovered that 20% of black students had received a D or F grade. In comparison, 7% of white students earned the same failing marks. School officials decided that the 13% racial disparity was a function of systemic racism, requiring an “honest reckoning as a school district.” In October, that “reckoning” led the San Diego board to vote unanimously to “interrupt these discriminatory grading practices.” Rather than attempt to replicate the factors empowering the 80% of black students who achieved passing grades, the board’s first action to “be an anti-racist school district” was to dumb down the grading system for all. Under the new protocols, all 106,000 San Diego students are no longer required to hand in their homework on time. Moreover, teachers are now prohibited from factoring a student’s classroom behavior when formulating an academic grade... Read the mission statement of virtually any educational organization, and you will likely find earnest language seeking to attain “equity” by “closing the racial achievement gap.” Instead of seeking educational excellence for all, school reformers have become fixated on erasing disparities, most frequently the underperformance of black children relative to their white classmates. The problem of course with this color-bound thinking is that achieving “equity” only allows a black student to reach a average white peer’s potential, not his or her own — maybe higher — potential... These educators are reinforcing the flawed belief that every racial disparity must be due to white supremacy and systemic racism, regardless of other factors like declines in stable families or lack of school choice, which may play a far more powerful role in impeding the development of children of all races. The resulting “anti-racist” policies are becoming the unintended, modern day version of the soft bigotry of low expectations."

Aurora teacher pledges to teach critical race theory, like it or not - "“Virtually all school districts insist they are not teaching critical race theory,” NBC News reports. That comes as news to the residents of Aurora, considering high school teacher Bryan Lindstrom made it pretty clear this week he’s doing everything he can to keep critical race theory in the classroom.

Namely, my eighth grade English teacher taught us for the first two weeks about pretty much how awful white men are. For two weeks, I did not speak a single word in her class. My fellow white male classmates left the classroom every time feeling the same way. For lack of a better word, those teachings made me feel like horse shit, like worthless scum undeserving of living. Later during that year, in my history class, my white classmates were constantly using the pronoun “we” when talking about slavery. Eventually, I had to raise my hand and remind them: that “we” were not and are not a part of these despicable acts. Most of our parents were refugees from foreign countries, whose ancestors were also oppressed and persecuted. This year, I have battled with countless generalizing and oppression towards white men. There are girls, whom I am friends with, that genuinely believe that all men are misogynistic. I see movements on social media like #KAM which stands for “Kill all men”; people don’t realize how strongly that affects boys in an extremely negative way. Even now, I am struggling and frightened to fully express my opinion to my girlfriend, who believes that most white men are oppressive beings"

Teacher at posh NJ prep school quits over critical race theory - "An English teacher has resigned from a top New Jersey prep school that is using critical race theory to create a “hostile culture of conformity and fear” — causing white and male students to believe they are “oppressors,” she said. Dana Stangel-Plowe accused the Dwight-Englewood School in Bergen County of forcing students and faculty to embrace a single set of beliefs, choking off free speech in the process. “The school’s ideology requires students to see themselves not as individuals, but as representatives of a group, forcing them to adopt the status of privilege or victimhood”... “As a result, students arrive in my classroom accepting this theory as fact: People born with less melanin in their skin are oppressors, and people born with more melanin in their skin are oppressed. Men are oppressors, women are oppressed, and so on”... “This is the dominant and divisive ideology that is guiding our adolescent students.”...
