Twitter accounts like Libs of Tiktok and the Post Millennial broke the story, including video of the shocking event, and the response from progressives was rather telling. The left was outraged, not at the adults who had exposed themselves to children, but at the conservative media outlets that had dared to reveal what actually happened to minors in one of America’s largest cities. Attorney and progressive pundit Ron Filipkowski tweeted out, “As I said when Pride Month began, the Right uses this stuff to win elections and then pass laws and appoint judges to take away your rights.” "Star Trek" actor and outspoken activist George Takei quickly replied, “Even if there were no naked guys on bikes this year, they would find picture or generate them and push the same agenda anyway. There’s no 'fixing' this by calling for self-censoring.” The horrific honesty of this exchange is stunning. It would seem that grown men exposing themselves to children is not the real problem; it is, in fact, a right and a form of self-expression. Takei characterized covering one’s genitals as self-censorship, which can only lead to one question: Why does he see getting naked in front of a crowd full of children as an essential expression of LGBTQ identity? The implication is that this activity is both normal and encouraged at Pride events and was only being curtailed due to concerns about optics now that minors are regularly in attendance. Takei, sure that the right will continue to oppose Pride events no matter what, simply sees no reason for LGBTQ parade participants to censor themselves by wearing clothes in front of children... The cycle of normalization has repeated so often that by now every conservative should be able to identify the phases on sight.
Step one: Claim nothing is happening and paint those who notice as conspiracy theorists.
Step two: Acknowledge that some isolated incidents may be happening, but assert that those who notice are motivated by bigotry.
Step three: Admit that yes it might be happening, but claim that most people do not really oppose it and that focusing on it is the real problem.
Step four: Openly force celebration of the fact that it was always happening by threatening the livelihood of anyone who opposes you...

Anger at Keighley mayor's apology for taking part in Pride event - "ANGER has erupted after Keighley's town mayor apologised on social media for taking part in a Pride flag-raising ceremony. Councillor Mohammed Nazam participated in the ceremony, held annually in Keighley's Town Hall Square, on Friday. Multiculturalists confused as Muslim modesty clashes with Pride - "a group of what appeared to be elementary school-aged Arab-Canadian boys were filmed stomping on a pile of miniature rainbow flags at an “anti-gender ideology” protest in Ottawa. The frolicsome tots were egged on by a posse of headscarf-clad women (presumably female relatives). One onlooker appeared to be wearing a niqab. Whilst a time traveller from 2015 would doubtlessly have been baffled by the scene, the other protesters in attendance ate it up, serenading the boys with an approving chant of, “Leave our kids alone!” One, a silver-haired white man wielding a Canadian flag, reached out to shake hands with each of the children. “Right on, guys!” he added with gusto. The scene in Ottawa was a vivid illustration of a growing disconnect between Muslim Canadians and the progressive left over increasingly ubiquitous Pride-related activities catering to minors (which are now commonplace in public school systems across the country)... Muslim groups are, in fact, becoming increasingly visible in the anti-Pride movement. Over the weekend, a protest against “forced LGBTQ indoctrination in schools” promoted by the Facebook group YYC Muslims drew an estimated 200 people to downtown Calgary. The protest’s Muslim organizers were joined by likeminded allies from other faiths in the visibly multiethnic demonstration. (A noticeably paler group of about two dozen pro-LGBT+ counter-protesters assembled nearby). In a recorded message shared to Facebook, organizer Mahmoud Mourra stressed the ecumenical character of the protest: “Thank God we (are) all standing together: Jewish, Muslim, Christian, atheist.” Adding, “I was surprised by the amount of support we are getting (from non-Muslims).” With Islam now growing faster than any other major religion in Canada, the events in Ottawa and Calgary are bound to be repeated in other Canadian cities with sizeable Muslim populations. In fact, Canadians can look just across the Detroit River to Michigan (home to the United States’ largest Arab community) for a sign of things to come... The events playing out in Michigan provide a window into a not-too-distant future for Canada, which is home to nearly five times as many Muslims per capita as the United States. They also speak to irreconcilable differences between the cultural modesty of most Muslim sects and the in-your-face flamboyance of Pride celebrations. Our “United Colours of Benetton” model of multiculturalism gives us no roadmap to neatly resolve this impasse. Contrary to popular belief, Islam is not a uniquely homophobic faith (passages of the Quran dealing with homosexuality are similar to ones found in other Abrahamic texts). One way Islam does differ from other faiths, however, is in the paramount importance it places on haya — or a healthy sense of shame. In fact, the Prophet Muhammad himself is believed to have said, “Every religion has its signature character trait, and the signature character trait of Islam is ḥaya”. Accordingly, the Quran advises both men and women to “lower their gaze and guard their modesty.” And, through the centuries, modesty has remained the North Star of Islam: informing modes of dress, Islamic art and aesthetics, and other hallmarks of the faith. This all-encompassing devotion to modesty is, in my (admittedly biased) view, one of the most beautiful parts of Islam. Islamic modesty is also hopelessly incompatible with Pride Month: a time of year marked by gaudy, rainbow-coloured flags, ornately dressed drag performers, and highly public displays of sexual self-expression. (“Pride” is, after all, the antonym of “shame.”) The centre simply cannot hold when the values Muslim children are inculcated with at public schools are directly antithetical to the teachings of their faith. It’s only logical that Muslim parents now find themselves on the front lines of the pushback against excessive Pride celebrations in schools. The Muslim backlash against Pride Month exposes the fatal flaw in Canadian multiculturalism. Our national ethos of inclusion tells us to be welcoming to newcomers; but what happens when newcomers don’t embrace the same inclusive values themselves?"
'Anti-racist' hypocrisy targets Muslim children for religious beliefs - "In a diverse society like Canada, it is not unusual for students and parents belonging to minority faith groups to request exemptions from participating in lessons and activities that contradict their religious beliefs. Normally, the school hears parental concerns and comes up with a plan to fulfill its duty to accommodate. In most cases, students are provided an alternative lesson that meets curriculum objectives or, if no accommodation can be made, parents are informed before the material is taught so that they can pull their children out of class... Sadly, this June has proven to be an unfortunate exception for many Canadian Muslim families. Alarmed by efforts to not just educate, but to instead promote practices and beliefs that they believe are contrary to their faith, they have requested accommodation and exemptions, which have been promptly rejected based on “no opt-out” directives. As a result, some families decided to keep their children home on the first day of June, the beginning of Pride Month. While some teachers and staff were understanding, it led to a furious response from others. In a shocking display of what can best be described as ignorant or at worst bigoted, an Edmonton teacher berated Muslim students who skipped in-school Pride activities, telling them “You don’t belong (in Canada)” if they didn’t support LGBTQ rights, that they were disrespectful, and that they were ungrateful for having their holidays recognized at school. In a school in the Ottawa area, a teacher distributed a booklet to students in her Grade 5/6 class that was specifically targeted at Muslim youth and which promoted the very practices and beliefs that Muslim families find objectionable. The booklet went as far as discussing sex — even though the Ontario health curriculum only introduces the subject in Grade 7. This “resource,” titled “I’m Muslim and I might not be straight,” is also available on the school board’s website and is the only one on the topic addressed to any faith group. Students at an Ottawa secondary school reported staff guarded doors during a Pride Month assembly to ensure that no one left, while others patrolled hallways and one even checked the parking lot to find students who refused to attend. A parent reported that their child in Grade 3 at another school was told he could not go to recess unless he drew a rainbow. Parents have told me that other students have been threatened with expulsion if they do not participate in Pride Month activities. Sadly, these attacks on Muslim children, with reckless disregard for their mental health and well-being, came the day after the second anniversary of the murders of four members of the Afzaal family in London in a hate-motivated attack. The irony is that many who champion anti-racism and anti-oppression practices appear to have forgotten those practices today. Any faith-based disagreements with LGBTQ+ beliefs and practices by Muslim families are immediately dismissed as being hateful. It is difficult to ignore that this gaslighting of the religious rights of a visible minority group is being perpetuated by individuals and institutions who benefit from white privilege, in support of a group that also benefits from white privilege. The image of mainly white teachers and staff targeting minority children, making them feel less than others due to their traditional beliefs, is reminiscent of past colonial attitudes that are now recognized to have caused great harm. To be clear, the religious objections by Muslim families are not regarding LGBTQ+ people themselves but rather LGBTQ+ beliefs and practices. For example, cross-dressing and changing one’s birth gender is expressly forbidden under mainstream Islamic teachings — not unlike other religions — unless there is physiological evidence to justify such a change. Active participation in activities and celebrations deemed to be morally objectionable, whether it be a celebration of same-sex relationships, pre-marital relationships or a celebration involving pork or alcohol, is prohibited. Muslim families that find such beliefs and practices to be inconsistent with their faith don’t expect others to agree with them, nor do they expect to impose their beliefs on others in a secular society. For instance, a child who has a religious objection to colouring a Ramadan lantern or making Eid cards should be exempted. Their absence would not make Muslim students feel marginalized because the choice to not participate is not an act of discrimination or hate. Similarly, schools should not cancel pizza days for non-Muslim students during Ramadan. Those who are fasting should simply have the option to not eat. Pride has been celebrated in Canada for decades, and there have been no recorded protests against it by Canadian Muslims until now. Many thought that staying quiet out of respect for the choices of others, despite disagreement, would help foster harmony and respect. This approach now appears to have been mistaken because while Muslims stayed quiet, LGBTQ beliefs and practices were promoted to the point of imposition upon others. This experience tells minorities in Canada that they must remain in a perpetual struggle to promote their beliefs and practices because not doing so will lead to the erosion of their rights."

Muslim Protesters Shut Down Michigan School-Board Meeting over LGBTQ Books - "A school-board meeting in Dearborn, Mich. was shut down earlier this week by hundreds of protesters opposing the circulation of LGBTQ books across the city’s public-school system... Many of the protesters carried signs in English and Arabic: “Keep Your Dirty Books in the Closet,” “Stop Grooming Our Kids,” and “Homosexuality Big Sin,” some read. Tensions boiled over when Roxanne McDonald, chair of the school board, limited attendee speaking time to three minutes. The proceedings were then halted due to fears that the growing crowd violated the fire code. Shouts of “Vote them out!” broke out. Dearborn and neighboring Dearborn Heights are overwhelmingly Muslim communities just outside of Detroit. The town elected its first Arab-American mayor in 2021 on the back of the community’s support. Rashida Tlaib’s congressional district, Michigan’s 13th, abuts the area, too. One of the community’s prominent religious leaders, Imam Hassan Al-Qazwini urged followers to attend the school-board meeting during his Friday sermon. “Some of those books are completely inappropriate for our children to read,” Al-Qazwini said. “Some of those books promote pornography. Some of them promote homosexuality. We don’t need this.”... The Dearborn incident is reminiscent of similar British Muslim protests against same-sex education. Weeks of protests wracked Birmingham when local schools sought to teach “LBGT-inclusive content” to young students. At one point, LGBT campaigners and their children were pelted with eggs by protesters, and about half the school’s students were voluntarily withdrawn from classes by parents."

It is a ‘discriminatory worldview in which feelings of freedom and belonging are produced through the persecution and dehumanisation of others’. White people are said to be morally compromised by their white privilege, which gives them unspoken advantages and favours. When Beltrán suggests that black and Latino Trump voters have a ‘discriminatory worldview’ it sounds like she is accusing them of garden-variety racism (not that she provides any evidence that non-white Trump voters hold this view). But in woke circles, racism is not just a question of prejudice or bigotry about skin colour. It’s common to hear racism redefined as ‘prejudice plus power’. A certain amount of mental gymnastics has to be performed to place these non-white (alleged) racists alongside whites. And so ‘multiracial whiteness’ is born. Similarly, this is how the New York Times managed to accuse two Indian boys who harassed four African-American girls of ‘enacting American whiteness’. Far lesser crimes than racism – such as simply holding conservative views – also now mark one out as a bad minority. Any deviance from the woke worldview is dismissed as a performance of whiteness or as ‘internalised whiteness’. Even an aspiration to colourblindness – once the hallmark of civil-rights anti-racism – is now denounced as pandering to whiteness. ‘For voters who see the very act of acknowledging one’s racial identity as itself racist’, says Beltrán, ‘the politics of multiracial whiteness reinforces their desired approach to colourblind individualism’. A concept as bizarre and contradictory as multiracial whiteness serves as an excellent reminder that race really is fluid and socially constructed. There has never been and never will be a fixed idea of who is white and who is not... What is so strange about the debate around ‘whiteness’ is that, on the one hand, the woke often gesture to the fact that race is a social rather than biological construct.
