Rookie armorer on Baldwin set said she loves to show 'how safe' guns are - "The rookie armorer in charge of weapons when Alec Baldwin accidentally shot dead his cinematographer on the set of his film “Rust” said on a recent podcast that the “best part” of her job is proving “how safe” guns are.  Hannah Gutierrez Reed, a 24-year-old former model, told the “Voices of the West” podcast last month about landing the “pretty sweet gig” with her first movie as head armorer in August...   She said her dad, well-known Hollywood armorer Thell Reed, gave her some direction growing up — but she “figured” out most of the job requirements on “my own.” She also admitted that “loading blanks” is the “scariest thing to me” — the issue seemingly behind the fatal accident on the New Mexico set of Baldwin’s movie “Rust,” only her second head-armorer job...   Reed also recalled how she had previously been a model but then wanted to be either an actress or a director of photography, the position held by Halyna Hutchins when she was shot dead by Baldwin last Thursday. She switched course to being an armorer after she “tried it with Dad one time and realized I had a natural knack for it,” she said, calling it “a pretty sweet gig.”... Reed admitted that she “was really nervous” before her first job as head armorer, on Nicolas Cage’s “The Old Way” in August, that she “almost didn’t take the job because I wasn’t sure if I was ready.”"
So much for figuring out the job requirements on her own

Nicolas Cage stormed off set after Rust armourer’s actions on previous film - "Nicolas Cage had previously complained about the behaviour of Rust armourer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, when they worked together, it is being claimed.  Cage and Gutierrez-Reid worked together on The Old Way, where it has been reported the armourer was also accused of failing to abide by gun safety protocols. It filmed only two months before Rust.  Stu Brumbaugh, a key grip on the movie told The Wrap that Gutierrez-Reid fired a gun near the cast and crew which caused Cage to burst out in anger. Brumbaugh said Cage shouted: “Make an announcement, you just blew my f***ing eardrums out!”  He alleged that it was the second time the armourer had fired a gun in three days and that Cage subsequently stormed off the set.  Brumbaugh further claimed that Gutierrez-Reid would frequently walk around set with guns loaded with blanks without announcing so to the crew."
Clearly misogynists who hate diversity

‘Rust’ Armor Hannah Gutierrez Reed once gave the child actor an untested gun - "Gutierrez-Reid’s guilt occurred on the set of the upcoming Nicholas Cage film “The Old Way” and temporarily halted filming...   “She was a little careless with guns, blowing it up repeatedly,” a source said. “A couple of times she was loading up blanks and doing it in a way that made us feel unsafe.”  The “Rust” production source described Reed as “inexperienced and green”, adding that there were two other incidents of accidental discharge from a staff member."

Alec Baldwin facing backlash for 2017 tweet questioning 'how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone' - "Twitter users are now zeroing in on Baldwin's past social media activity and one glaring tweet he posted on Sept. 22, 2017 reads: "I wonder how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone..." The tweet also included a link to a Los Angeles Times article about a Huntington Beach police officer who was captured on video struggling with a suspect in a parking lot of a convenience store before shooting the man several times, killing him... Another tweet Baldwin wrote about Dick Cheney's hunting accident has resurfaced. In 2006, the then-vice president accidentally shot and injured someone while hunting.  Back in 2015, the actor tweeted to someone, "You hook your friends with that line? Shoot em in the face? Cheney style?""

Cernovich on Twitter - "When Dick Cheney accidentally shot someone, Hollywood did comedy sketches, it was a punch line, Alec Baldwin even blogged about how he hoped Cheney would be arrested. Keep your fake sanctimony off of my timeline."

AlecBaldwin(HABF) on Twitter - "...@RepLizCheney talks and seems so much like her father. I wonder if she’s ever accidentally shot a good friend of hers in the face."

Actors, writers and producers warn of 'reverse racism' in the film industry - "A revolution is under way. White actors are being fired. Edicts from studio bosses make it clear that only minorities – racial and sexual – can be given jobs. A new wave of what has been termed by some as anti-white prejudice is causing writers, directors and producers to fear they will never work again. One described the current atmosphere as 'more toxic than Chernobyl', with leading actors afraid to speak out amid concern they will be labelled racist.  The first sign came with one of the most powerful black directors in Hollywood, Oscar-winning Jordan Peele – the man behind box office hits such as Get Out and Us – stated in public that he did not want to hire a leading man who was white... As one studio executive responded privately: 'If a white director said that about hiring a black actor, their career would be over in a heartbeat.' Few doubt it.  Peele is more vocal than most about his hiring policy, but his outlook is increasingly widespread. Dozens of producers, writers and actors have spoken to The Mail on Sunday about the wave of 'reverse racism' pulsing through the industry.  speaking on condition of anonymity, the executive confirmed that the climate is now toxic for any 'white, middle-aged man in showbusiness'. Their careers, 'are pretty much over'.   They continued: 'We're only hiring people of colour, women or LGBT to write, star, produce, operate the cameras, work in craft services. If you are white, you can't speak out because you will instantly be branded 'racist' or condemned for 'white privilege'. 'The pendulum has swung so far, everyone is paralysed with fear by the idea anything you say could be misinterpreted and your career ended instantly. There are a lot of hushed conversations going on, but publicly everyone is desperate to be seen to be promoting diversity and too terrified to speak out. It's imploding: a total meltdown.'... The latest buzzword in Tinseltown is 'Bipoc' – an acronym for Black, Indigenous and People of Colour – and 'Menemy', which means a white, male enemy of the diversity movement. 'Everyone wants to be able to check all the boxes for each new hire,' according to one Oscar-nominated insider.  'Directors normally have a say about who is in their project. Not any more. It's all about 'Bipoc hiring'. And it's coming directly from the heads of the studios who know their jobs are on the line. White middle-aged men are collateral damage. They are the Menemy.' An actor in his 50s who has worked on some of the biggest shows of the past 20 years described how, during a recent audition, the casting director told him he was 'perfect for the part' but that they had been instructed to hire 'a person of colour' for the role. 'I get it, I really do,' the actor said.   'I understand Hollywood still has a long way to go before people of colour are properly represented on screen but how am I supposed to pay my mortgage, put food on the table? Everyone is terrified. And you can't say anything because then you set yourself up for public crucifixion.'... 'wokeness' is not only increasingly pervasive, it seems impossible to navigate. Killing Eve's Jodie Comer – celebrated for playing a bisexual assassin – last week faced intense criticism on social media for dating US sportsman James Burke, said to be a card-carrying Trump supporter, solely on the basis that he supported the President. And Halle Berry had to apologise for 'considering' taking on the role of a transgender man in a forthcoming film project (instead of leaving it to a real transgender man).  Such is the culture shift that one studio is now preparing to shoot a film with an all-black cast and crew – a project which should normally give cause for celebration. But when a white woman, a highly respected executive, was tasked to 'oversee' the production on location, she was told she would receive no on-screen credit. A source from the studio behind the project said: 'The kids making the film are fresh, great new talent. But they are kids. None of them are over 25. Most of them have never been on a movie set, let alone a movie which costs $20 million. They don't know the basics about how union rules work, about taking regular breaks or how long you can shoot in a day.  We need to protect our investment and make sure they get up on time and shoot what they need. Otherwise, we could have a multi-million- dollar train out of control.  'We're sending this woman, who is brilliant, to run things on the ground. But she won't get any title credit. People won't admit it, they can't admit it, but reverse racism is definitely going on. You could argue that it's a good thing, that this swinging of the pendulum so far the other way is only fair after years of white privilege. But at what cost? Surely it is best for everyone if people are hired on the basis of talent and ability? I can tell you, we are hiring people based purely on their ethnicity, gender and social-media profiles. 'If you are brown and female and gay then come on in. We're all getting diversity training. We're walking on eggshells during every Zoom meeting. It's got to the point where, if there's a person of colour in the meeting, we can't hang up before they do, for fear of it being considered offensive.'  One film editor who did dare to speak out has seen his career all but destroyed. Nathan Lee Bush, who has shot commercials for corporations such as Budweiser and Nike, criticised a post on a private Facebook group which read: 'I NEED AN EDITOR! Looking for Black Union Editors.'... One Emmy Award-nominated white writer said: 'I've never known people so fearful. Houses are being put up for sale. People are moving out because even when things get back to normal after the pandemic there's going to be no work.'  'It's about fairness,' another writer said. 'I've spent the past three years mentoring young, black writers. But now I'm out of a job and it's nothing to do with my abilities as a writer. People think of Hollywood as a place where dreams come true but for people like me, it's turned into a nightmare.'"

'Rust' gun supervisor: 'whole production set became unsafe' - Los Angeles Times - "Gutierrez Reed had “no idea where the live rounds came from,” her attorneys said. They said that she and the set’s prop master had “gained control over the guns and she never witnessed anyone shoot live rounds with these guns ... nor would she permit that.”  “There’s no way a single one of them was unaccounted for or being shot by crew members,” the statement said, adding that she locked up the set’s guns at night and at lunch... Baldwin’s stunt double accidentally fired two rounds the Saturday before the shooting after being told that the gun was “cold,” meaning the weapon did not have any ammunition, including blanks... A camera operator on set had complained, in a text message, about accidental gun discharges just days before the fatal shooting... Gutierrez Reed also told investigators that live ammo was never kept on set. Investigators said Wednesday that they recovered roughly 500 rounds of ammunition from the set — a mixture of “blanks, dummy rounds and what we are suspecting were live rounds”... The shooting has raised questions about the production’s decision to hire a relatively inexperienced armorer. Gutierrez Reed, 24, had served as lead armorer on only one film before getting the job on “Rust.”"
Weird how the gun had live ammo when it was so closely monitored. It must be black magic

‘Rust’ armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reid’s attorneys suggest ‘sabotage’ behind fatal shooting - "“I believe that somebody who would do that would want to sabotage the set, want to prove a point, want to say that they’re disgruntled, they’re unhappy," Bowles said on Today. "And we know that people had walked off the set the day before."  He was referring to the six members of the camera crew who walked out the morning of the shooting on the Bonanza Creek Ranch set. “We know there was a live round in a box of dummy rounds that shouldn’t have been there," Bowles said. "At least one live round. We have people who had left the set who had walked out because they were disgruntled. We have a time frame between 11 [a.m.] and 1 [p.m.], approximately, that day, in which the firearms at times were unattended, so there was opportunity to tamper with this scene. And, yes, we're looking at that possibility."... Investigators have said the ammunition was left out on a tray completely unattended. The gun was in a safe in a prop truck, but Gorence noted the truck was "completely unattended at all times giving someone access and opportunity."  On GMA, Bowles noted three people had access to the safe: Gutierrez-Reid, prop master Sarah Zachry and a third unidentified props assistant. He also said the ammunition was left out because "it was dummy rounds and blanks.""
Weird how she didn't verify the ammo before loading it. Also strange how this contradicts the other assertions that they kept an eye on the guns at all times

‘Rust’ armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed breaks silence, blames producers for ‘unsafe’ set - "assistant director David Halls... whose job it is to check the armorer's work by looking in the barrel before passing the gun to the actor, said Gutierrez-Reed showed him the gun, but he couldn't remember if she spun the drum to show him all the ammunition, to make sure it only had dummy bullets"

Charles Mangerian on Twitter - "The Academy of Motion Pictures imposed new rules requiring films to hire more women and other "underrepresented groups." Shortly thereafter, a young unqualified and incompetent woman is hired as lead armorer on Baldwin's film. Now someone is dead. This is not a coincidence."

Hollywood Tech Adviser Talks Alec Baldwin Mishap, How Prop Guns Should Be Used - "While commonly used blank rounds can undoubtedly be dangerous, there is no reason live ammunition should be present on a film set, said Jariko Denman, retired US Army Ranger and Hollywood movie advisor...   He said the only reason live ammo would be on set would be “because the armorer is a fucking idiot.” Hutchins death has some calling for an all-out ban on guns using blanks on movie sets, even though a blank may not have been involved, and for CG gunfire and replica firearms to be used in their place. The truth is, gun-related accidents of any kind are exceedingly rare in Hollywood, especially considering the sheer number of guns used in movies and other productions every year. Also, using CG gunfire would be wildly impractical for many productions.  “If they shot John Wick (2014) without blanks, they would still be editing it right now,” Denman said. “Let’s say you’re shooting a Glock. You have to (digitally) paint the cycling of the slide for every shot fired, or if you’re shooting an AK the reciprocation of the charging handle, or on an M4, you have to paint in the cycling of the bolt. You have to paint in all the brass coming out of the gun, the muzzle blast, smoke. You’ll have people painting shit for two years.”... there were 43 deaths and 150 “life-altering” injuries sustained on movie sets in the US from 1990 to 2016. However, only one of those deaths resulted from a prop gun. In fact, there have only been two such deaths recorded in the US since 1984, not including this most recent incident... nobody should be pointing a gun loaded with blanks directly at another person on set. “They should be doing a 5- to 10-degree offset for a shot,” he said, adding that for shots where a performer is shooting toward a camera with blanks, a clear shield is used not only to protect the operator but also the camera.  When a gun is fired, camera angles will be manipulated, so it looks like a gun is being directly fired at someone, but the gun is actually aimed to the right or left of them. If a scene requires actors to be in close proximity to each other when firing guns, safety concerns are ratcheted up...   “We’ve been shooting movies for 100 years now, and three people have died from blanks. There’s not a blip on the radar when a stunt guy gets killed crashing a motorcycle. This is just a lot more dramatic,” he said. “Hundreds of thousands of blank rounds are shot on sets every year, and we’ve had three people die. Total.”"
Of course this doesn't stop all the anti-gun people demanding blanks not even be used anymore

Actress Janet Hubert Wonders: Did ‘Trumpers’ Give Alec Baldwin the Loaded Gun? - "Hubert shared her conspiracy theory — providing no evidence to support it — which accuses “Trumpers” of getting revenge on Baldwin for having mocked the former president by handing him a loaded gun on his film set."

Alec Baldwin: Rust script didn't call for gun to be fired, lawsuit alleges - "Script supervisor Mamie Mitchell - who called police after the shooting on the New Mexico film set - filed the suit.  Her lawyer accused the actor of "playing Russian roulette" when he fired the gun without checking it."

2nd 'Rust' Crew Member Sues Alec Baldwin: ‘He Did Not Check the Gun Himself' - "Mr. Baldwin cannot hide behind the Assistant Director to attempt to excuse the fact that he did not check the gun himself."
