Sex theme park to open in London - "A £7m sex theme park, which has no rides, is to open in London's West End later this year... 'The more sex we have the more we want and the less sex we have the more we want"
No rides? Buy an iGallop!

Very cool illusion - "If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, you will only see one color, pink. If you stare at the black + in the center, the moving dot turns to green. Now, concentrate on the black + in the center of the picture. After a short period of time, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see a green dot rotating if you're lucky! It's amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don't disappear. This should be proof enough, we don't always see what we think we see."

Why brown meat if it doesn't sear in the juices? - "If high temperature does not sear in juices and liquids in meat (as you have mentioned in one of your answers), what is the use of browning meat in almost every meat recipe?"

John Cage Takes It Slow, Nyt Takes It Slower - "Whatever the reasons, who but a bunch of Cageans would have thought of a concert lasting six centuries? I myself relish the idea. But it's funny how serious composers turned music into a philosophical game in a way that visual artists have only recently come to emulate (thanks to the minimalists and other postmodernists) and writers and dramatists never really did (Dadaists and Surrealists notwithstanding). Funny, and for most listeners, unfortunate."

infernal device - Pear of Anguish - "Poire d'angoisser - the Pear of Anguish; the Spanish Mouth Pear; or the Oral, Rectal and Vaginal Pear (for those with less-easily offended sensibilities) - is a hideously cruel device."

Singing Science Records - "When I was a kid my parents got this six-LP set of science-themed folk songs for my sister and me. They were produced in the late 1950s / early 1960s by Hy Zaret (William Stirrat) and Lou Singer. Zaret's main claim to fame is writing the lyrics to the classic "Unchained Melody" for the 1955 movie "Unchained", later recorded by the Righteous Brothers and more recently used in "Ghost". Three of the albums (the best three in my opinion) were performed by Tom Glazer, semi-famous 1940s folk musician and somewhat of a lyricist himself (he wrote "On Top of Spaghetti")."

Anal Bleaching - This is fascinating, really.

At the End of the Day - "What if there were a Singapore version of "les mis", the musical? What would it have been like?"
Somehow the line: 'And the winter is coming on fast, ready to kill' doesn't fit in here.

Rotted shark, anyone? - "Touring Europe, Feargus O'Sullivan has tasted some memorably repellent dishes. Here are his all-time 'favourites'... Telling a Czech you don't like meat is like expressing a dislike for oxygen. The bezmasa ("without meat") section of a typical menu does not contain vegetarian dishes, but ones that have an ever so slightly lower tonnage of meat in them that the rest of the card, as the Czechs think that eggs and vegetables must be lonely without pork fat to keep them company. That people with standards so low for anything savoury can produce such exquisite cakes and beer is one of Europe's great mysteries."
I can imagine people writing letters to the ST Forum protesting if this were published there.

Not married, with children? Not in our town thanks - "Missouri council defends policy to 'protect values'. Unmarried couple could be fined $500 a day"

Nude sunbather wins right to roam her own garden - "Miss Burgess, a nurse and occupational therapist who lives in the village of Llandyfriog, near Cardigan, West Wales, was arrested and charged with indecent exposure."
Ah, Decadent Westerners bringing their foul, contaminating winds in to pollute our pristine environments (I can't translate the ludricrous Chinese phrase - 西方不良的风味, xi1 fang1 bu4 liang2 de4 feng1 wei4, properly)

Woman Hit By Lightning While Praying - "She said 'Amen' and the room was engulfed in a huge ball of fire. The 65-year-old Brown said she is blessed to be alive."

Go to Bed Married, Wake up Divorced - "A Muslim couple in India has been told by local Islamic leaders they must separate after the husband "divorced" his wife in his sleep."

Students choose sex over study - "Nearly one in three university students claims to have sex once a week, and spends almost four times as much on alcohol as books, according to a survey. Figures also showed they spend three times as much on entertainment, and twice as much on clothes, as on their studies. The statistics are the result of a survey of 1,000 students at 10 universities in England, Wales and Scotland carried out by MORI for the right-wing think-tank Adam Smith Institute."

Teen sex survey reveals lying is rampant in teen sex surveys - "When it comes to questions about sexual experience, teenagers change their answers to appease their consciences, according to a recent study."

Is Menstruation Obsolete? - "A recent study by Brazilian Elsimar M. Coutinho adds to this mind-boggling list of what we can now do to alter the human reproductive system. In a controversial book published by Oxford University Press, Coutinho suggests that menstruation is an unhealthy and unnecessary process that causes women countless health and emotional problems. Is Menstruation Obsolete?, the title of Coutinho's new work, suggests that the most medically advanced "treatment" for menstruation would be its total cessation in all women of reproductive age."

Women of ‘X-Men’ talk powers, hair, more

"Berry: It’s a woman’s right to change her hair, and I think it’s not by mistake that all the women have different hair, like, every time.

Paquin: I don’t.

Berry: That’s what women do. We change our hair.

Paquin: I don’t.

AP: You don’t what?

Paquin: I don’t have different hair. I’m never different."
