Dan Burmawi on X - "Why do many cities in Western Europe with high rates of immigration from third-world countries see their streets turn into garbage dumps? There are a few reasons.  Many immigrants are raised with a mentality that divides the world into moral camps: the righteous who are wronged and the corrupt who owe them reparations.  Personal responsibility is weakened by collective grievance. Failure is attributed outward. Misbehavior is justified as compensation.  This “I am owed” mentality makes courtesy optional. Rules are treated as instruments of oppression rather than neutral standards. Violating them feels justified when the host society is perceived as historically guilty and morally inferior.  Within this framework, respecting public space is seen as compliance with an illegitimate system. Littering is not experienced as wrongdoing; it is quiet contempt.  Another reason is that in societies shaped by dictatorships, public space is not experienced as shared property. It is experienced as state property.  As a result, there is no internal obligation to protect it.  When individuals raised under that framework enter societies where public space depends on voluntary compliance rather than constant enforcement, behavior does not automatically adjust.   Littering is not perceived as antisocial behavior. It is perceived as irrelevant behavior. Cleaning is someone else’s job. Responsibility is externalized."

'Is mass immigration making Europe unsafe?' - "Those who proclaim Diversity™️ to be our strength — our greatest strength — possess a superhuman skill for overlooking the consequence of mass migration. Their hope for the future lies not in the past, and the achievements of their ancestors, but in the immigrants who arrive from the Third World. They are alert and ready to work. Their brights faces proclaim their virtue. They are vessels —lifeboats. Their bodies shelter sacred souls which are immune to the corrupting influence of civilisation.  This image is a romanticised hang-over from the Second World War when people from all corners of the globe travelled to Europe to fight and to rebuild. This is a vision of a communitarian world in which the forces of evil and despair are vanquished by collaboration and charity. Whilst this spirit of friendship can be found in individuals the world over, a fatal mistake has been made in ascribing such generosity to ‘groups’ — be it people grouped by race, sex, religion or ‘refugee status’... If it were impossible to draw distinctions between the quality of nations, cultures, and peoples, one would unable to draw maps, such as these travel indexes, that indicate the relative safety of each country... In recent years, many European counties have had their ‘threat level’ upgraded from ‘negligible risk’ to ‘low risk’. A threat level predicts the likelihood of an individual falling victim to crime, injury, or serious illness whilst going about their daily life in a particular country or region. Some have attributed the increased threat in Europe to the Russia-Ukraine War. Others have attributed it to the increasing political instability — the purported rise of ‘far-right’ extremism — and the threat of terrorism. I would engage in less handwringing and make a somewhat educated guess that the rapid demographic shift in these countries plays a significant role in the increased disruption, danger and fear being experienced by those living in Europe.  Sweden provides perhaps the best case study in Europe as to the impact of mass immigration upon a small population in a short amount of time. In the early 2010s, Sweden was considered one of the safest countries in the world, ranking 13th out of 144 countries on the Global Peace Index. At this time, the Swedish population had been 9.5 million with 85-90 per cent of people being Swedish by descent. The immigrant population was constituted of Fins from the neighbouring country of Finland, along with settled refugees from the former Yugoslavia and economic migrants from Poland.  Their global peace score began to decrease, however, after 2015 and in 2024 Sweden had ranked 39th in the word for safety, being beating by Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman... the total population of Sweden has increased by 1.1 million people. The natural population of Sweden has grown by 7,000-10,000 year-on-year as a result of births out pacing-deaths. This means that of the 1.1 million person increase, Sweden’s received between 950,000-995,00 legal migrants in the last fifteen years... Sweden has since seen a experienced a dramatic spike in the number of drive-by shootings, bombings, and grenade attacks as a result of blood feuds between rival drug gangs from foreign countries. But Sweden is not the only country to suffer a decline in general safety. Other countries in Europe have seen a similar decline in their global safety ranking over the past two decades, including Hungry which has dropped from 8th place to 14th, Poland which has dropped from 23rd to 32nd, and France which has dropped from 46th to to a staggering 87th — Senegal, Morocco, Bahrain, Jordan and Sierra Leone are all regarded safer to visit than France in 2024."

Netherlands spent €400 billion on migrants between 1995 and 2019, according to new landmark study - "A new study from the University of Amsterdam reveals the enormous costs of mass immigration to the Netherlands over a nearly 25-year timeframe, with the 278-page report adding to the growing list of evidence refuting claims that migrants contribute to national budgets in the West, create jobs, and prop up faltering pension systems.  The landmark study, entitled “Borderless Welfare State: The Consequences of Immigration on Public Finances,” shows that net costs of immigration to the Dutch public sector over the period 1995-2019 were an astounding €400 billion, averaging €17 billion a year, with a peak of €32 billion in 2016 due to the 2015 “refugee crisis.”   To put these figures in perspective, the Dutch government spent around €30 billion on education in 2016, €2 billion less than it spent on migrants in the same year...   The authors, based on copious amounts of data, also warn that either immigration will have to be curtailed or the Dutch welfare system will have to face dramatic cuts...   Given the report’s finding, it can be argued that the entire national revenue of the Netherlands from fracking and other natural gas extraction measures, over the course of approximately 60 years, went entirely to feeding, housing, educating, and providing medical treatment for migrants and their children in the country. The study also notes that the Dutch population has exploded higher due to the rapid pace of immigration, making it one of the most densely populated countries in the world. This population density has put enormous pressure on housing, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure, all of which in turn has strained the Dutch budget and generous welfare system.  Of the 17 million Dutch inhabitants at the end of 2019, 13 percent were foreign-born (first generation) and 11 percent were children of immigrants (second generation), which represents, in total, 24 percent of the Dutch population. The study shows that per capita state spending on immigrants is significantly higher than the native Dutch population for social security, welfare benefits, and education... migrants from the Middle East and North Africa never achieve a positive contribution compared with what the state spends on them, while other non-Western immigrants, such as Asians, have a slight net contribution. However, even Western immigrants lag behind native Dutch nationals in their contributions... Similar results have been seen in a variety of countries, including France and Germany. The German government, for instance, predicts it will spend €36 billion on migrants in 2023 alone. Amidst a budget crisis, the government is cutting a variety of services and refusing to issue a pension bonus for the country’s native population. Meanwhile, researchers in France estimate that migrants cost the French state €25 billion a year.  Despite the reality of these figures, Western liberal governments inexplicably promote the idea that migrants are the solution to Europe’s growing financial and pension crises. Germany’s left-liberal government, for instance, is looking to liberalize immigration laws, speed up naturalization, and bring up to 1.5 million migrants into the country a year, with Chancellor Olaf Scholz arguing it is needed to support Germany’s ailing pension system and boost the country’s lack of qualified labor."

Migration costs France approximately €25 billion a year, many migrants remain unemployed even after years: academic - "Employment data shows that it is a myth that immigration to France has economic benefits, French author and academic Jean-Paul Gourévitch said in an interview with Radio Sud.  “I have studied this topic extensively and today everyone in France, from the left to the right agrees that immigration costs more than it brings in,” Gourévitch said. “There is a major difference between left and right (oriented) economists regarding the costs: the leftist economists say the deficit is six to ten billion [euros per year], while those on the right say it is 40 to 44 billion. My own scientific research shows that the deficit is 20 to 25 billion [euros].”...   Gourévitch also said his own studies showed that after fives years of migrants arriving, only one third of migrants had jobs. These statistics mirror other countries which show, for example, in Sweden that most migrants will never become self-sufficient. Other countries like Germany have already spent tens of billions on migrants and plans to spend another €64.5 billion over the next four years.   “All the surveys show that 5 years later, only 33% of migrants have found work,” said Gourévitch."

Austrians getting robbed blind: Nearly all welfare fraud cases are committed by foreigners - "Since 2018, the Social Benefits Fraud Task Force (SOLBE) has uncovered fraud with social benefits totaling €135.6 million. Of those cases, 70 percent of suspects are foreigners. However, if we factor in that many of the Austrians committing the crime also have a foreign background, it is clear that this is overwhelmingly a type of fraud committed by foreigners and Austrians with a foreign background... The number of foreigners committing such fraud is truly astounding, as the share of foreigners is only 16.2 percent in the whole population... Austria, however, does not want to get rid of its social welfare system, even if a huge share is going to foreigners, many who never even worked in the country... Crime statistics just released this month show that an incredible 46.8 percent of all crime suspects in the country are foreigners...   In another case from 2018, a criminal syndicate helped Nigerian immigrants gain residency by offering Berlin authorities fake papers. Despite repeated internal warnings, the immigration reportedly continued approving the applications for years.  Migrants in Germany are also participating in fake marriages and earning serious money doing it in exchange for helping these “wives” to obtain residence permits in Germany. Not only that, but the new “fake” fathers of these children then receives child welfare benefits for each child. One of them, a Nigerian migrant who named himself “Mr. Cash Money,” had 22 wives and was earning tens of thousands euros through his scheme through child welfare payments. Jonathan A., which is his real name, is far from the only one, and authorities estimate there have been tens of thousands of such cases in recent years."

Austria: Unemployed migrant family earning €9,000 a month from Viennese taxpayers sparks outrage - "A Syrian migrant family living in Vienna is receiving a net monthly allowance of €9,000, in addition to other benefits and housing assistance.  The couple, who are raising 11 children, receive €6,000 in basic benefits and €3,000 in family support, writes Mandiner, citing data from Kronen Zeitung. These sums represent monetary figures that would be hard to earn on the job market for many Austrians...   The Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), which governs at the federal level, wants to put an end to migrants coming to the city to benefit from such high benefits and would thus like Vienna’s social benefits to be aligned with the national average.  ÖVP says it is untenable for people who have never paid into the common fund and who are not even motivated to look for work to receive benefits, especially as the country is trying to keep its budget under control.   Yet, ÖVP has been in power off and on for decades, and currently, has a chancellor leading the country, leading many critics to note that their claims are mostly hollow...  The government is investigating how to correct the situation that has caused public outrage but says that tying the payment of social assistance to a minimum period of time spent in the country would likely conflict with international law"

72% of welfare recipients are foreigners in one small Austrian city, illustrating a European-wide problem - "The Austrian city of St. Pölten illustrates how, in even smaller European cities, the social and financial burden of foreigners is incredible, the latest sign that foreigners on welfare is not just a problem for major cities, but also in smaller cities, towns, and even rural areas.  The data shows that 49 percent of all social assistance paid out in the small city of approximately 56,000 people is going to just two groups of origin: Syrians and Afghans, according to the Austria Press Agency (APA).  The data shows that a total of 1,278 people in the Lower Austrian capital receive social benefits, as of January 2026. Nearly half of these recipients, 528 people, are from Syria, which amounts to 41 percent of recipients. In addition, Afghans receive another 8 percent, which amounts to 99 recipients.  In total, 72 percent of all recipients are foreigners, when factoring in all recipients, which includes other foreign countries besides Afghanistan and Syria.   Of those with Austrian citizenship, there are 359 beneficiaries, amounting to just 28 percent of the fund, despite this group making up the vast majority of people in the small city.   The Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ), known for its opposition to mass immigration and a proponent of remigration, has reacted negatively to the welfare data.  State Councillor and top candidate Martin Antauer stated in a press release: “Social assistance is there to help Austrians in need through no fault of their own so that they can get back on their feet and not for Syrians and Afghans who have never paid a cent into the system and are making themselves comfortable in the social hammock.“  Antauer says that social assistance must be linked to Austrian citizenship.  Notably, his party is polling at 37 percent, according to the latest polling, making it the number one party in the nation."
Time to "tax the 'rich'" to pay for even more social spending

Students were raped after being forced to live in complex alongside 125 refugees to 'aid integration': Terrified Dutch youngsters 'were subjected to years of sex assaults and violence' - "Terrified Dutch students made to live side-by-side with 125 refugees to aid their 'integration' were subjected to years of sexual assault and violence, an investigation has reported.  Stek Oost, located in the Watergraafsmeer district of Amsterdam, was sold to the Netherlands as the dream solution to the housing and refugee crisis.  A total of 125 students and 125 refugees would live alongside each other, and were even encouraged to 'buddy up' so the migrants would adapt to life in the Netherlands more quickly.  But students living there told Dutch investigative documentary programme Zembla they faced multiple sexual assaults, harassment, violence, stalking and even claimed a gang rape had taken place.  One woman said she would regularly see 'fights in the hallway and then again in the shared living room'.  A man told the programme that a refugee threatened him with an eight-inch kitchen knife.  And they claimed they were ignored despite filing multiple reports to authorities.  In one shocking case, a former resident said that a Syrian raped her after inviting her to his room to watch a film then refusing to let her leave.  The woman, identified only as Amanda, said: 'He wanted to learn Dutch, to get an education. I wanted to help him.' Amanda described how he asked her several times to come to his room. She eventually relented and agreed to watch a film with him.  However, he soon made her uncomfortable and she asked to leave, only for him to trap her in his room and sexually abuse her.  Despite her filing a police report following the incident in 2019, police dropped the case due to a lack of evidence.  But just six months later, another woman living in Stek Oost raised the alarm over the Syrian, telling the housing association that runs the complex that she was concerned for the safety of herself and other women living there.  But the local authority, which had set up the arrangement, claimed it was impossible for the man to be evicted, the Zembla documentary claims.  It was only when he was formally arrested in March 2022 that he left the student-refugee complex. He was later convicted of raping Amanda and another resident, and was sentenced to just three years in prison in 2024. Carolien de Heer, district chair of the East district of Amsterdam, where Stek Oost is located, claimed it was legally difficult to remove people from these blocks: 'You see unacceptable behaviour, and people get scared.  'But legally, that's often not enough to remove someone from their home or impose mandatory care. You keep running into the same obstacles.'... In 2022, Dutch TV station AT5 reported that a refugee had been accused of six sex attacks between 2018 and 2021.  He was involved in a protracted legal battle with local authorities, who fought to force him to leave Stek Oost.  For its part, Stadgenoot wanted to shut the complex down as early as 2023, but the local authority refused.  It will, however, be shut down by 2028 after the contract to run the site expires.  In the meantime though, staff and students at Stek Oost have been left exhausted from their experience living and working there.  Mariëlle Foppen, who works for Stadgenoot, dejectedly told the programme: 'We were completely overwhelmed. We no longer wanted to be responsible for the safety of the complex.'"

1. All those videos about Polish Christmas markets and cities are right: Poland is extremely safe and clean. There is no need for concrete blocks like in Germany, the UK, or military patrols like in France.
2. It’s a myth that Poland doesn’t accept immigrants. Poland has a solid border wall to keep illegal immigrants out, but it welcomes anyone who wants to work, learn the language and contribute to society instead of draining welfare systems.
3. Poles are probably the most entrepreneurial people in Europe. They understand that hard work is necessary for a good life and prosperity for their children, very different from the spoiled, daddy-financed left-wing activists in “Western” Europe.
In summary, be like Poland. It’s really worth it."

Afghan man 'rammed car into German crowd, killing girl, two, and her mother and injuring dozens more': Driver 'with 'religious motivation' muttered 'Allahu Akbar' afterwards', murder trial hears - "The suspect, partially identified as Farhad N., 25, faces two charges of murder and 44 of attempted murder, with prosecutors saying he acted out of a 'religious motivation' and expected to die in the attack... Kabul-born Farhad N. 'committed the act out of excessive religious motivation', and that he had uttered the words 'Allahu Akbar', meaning 'God is the greatest', after the car rampage.  'He believed he was obliged to attack and kill randomly selected people in Germany in response to the suffering of Muslims in Islamic countries,' they said when he was charged in August... Farhad N. arrived in Germany in 2016 as an unaccompanied teenager, having travelled overland at the height of the mass migrant influx to Europe.  His asylum request was rejected but he was spared deportation, found work with a series of jobs and was able to remain in the country... The Munich attack came a month after another Afghan man had carried out a knife attack on a kindergarten group that killed two people, including a two-year-old boy, in the city of Aschaffenburg.  The perpetrator was later confined to a psychiatric facility after judges found he had acted during an acute psychotic episode."

Fury as Italian judge downgrades sex assault charges for migrant who impregnated 10-year-old girl at reception centre after he claimed they were in a 'relationship' - "A judge has sparked fury in Italy after downgrading sexual assault charges for a migrant who impregnated a 10-year-old girl at a migrant centre.  There was outrage in 2024 when it was reported that the child, from sub-Saharan Africa, had been raped at a reception centre in Collio, Lombardy.  The young victim was taken to a local hospital, where a test revealed that she was pregnant before she underwent an abortion.  In depositions, the 29-year-old Bangladeshi defendant claimed that he and the girl had shared some form of 'relationship' while his legal team insisted 'there was no violence'.  An Italian judge has now handed him a five-year sentence, having reclassified charges against him from 'aggravated sexual assault against a minor' to 'sexual acts with a child', according to Corriere della Sera. The ruling also followed a fast-track trial which allowed the sentence to be reduced by one-third... In 2015, locals protested against the Hotel Il Cacciatore housing migrants, but after the crime occurred in 2024, the priest of the local parish told local media that there was a 'climate of peaceful coexistence'.  Speaking to local media, priest Don Battista Dassa said: 'This episode has nothing to do with migrants, we get along very well with them.  'If I hadn't read the newspaper, I wouldn't have known about this horrible event; in the four years that I've been here, I've never seen or heard anything problematic in the village because of migrants.'  The hotel manager, Giovanni Cantoni, added: 'I get along very well with [the migrants], better than with many Italians. And I have never, I repeat never, had any problems.'"

Swedish Journalist Exposes Somali Welfare Fraud Scheme Similar to Minnesota - "Swedish investigative journalist Isabelle Eriksson says that the massive Minnesota Somali fraud scandal is not an isolated case—it reveals a troubling blueprint she has also observed in Sweden. According to her reporting, the biggest fraud conspiracy in US history, uncovered by independent journalist Nick Shirley in December 2025, reflects a form of wrongdoing that has become common within Somali communities worldwide.  ‘What you [Mr Shirley] uncovered there is the exact same blueprint we are seeing here in Sweden,’ Eriksson said in a video uploaded to YouTube two days ago. In her reporting, Eriksson covered the case of a Swedish association called Raju Kulturförening, which received more than one million Swedish kronor in 2021 from the Swedish National Agency for Education to provide homework help, cultural programmes, and sports activities for children in Nynäshamn, Sweden.   When Eriksson and staff from Swedish news channel RIX visited a scheduled football tournament purportedly organized by the association, no children or participants were present; only two adults were in an otherwise empty facility. An online investigation later revealed that individuals listed as staff on Raju’s website appeared to be stock photographs or fictitious identities, and that the only real person connected to the group was its vice chairperson. The association also received rental funding for space that was already taxpayer-funded through another adult education organization, raising further questions about the use of public funds. RIX was unable to reach those responsible for any explanation or accounting. ‘Millions of Swedish taxpayers’ money is gone,’ Eriksson declared in the video, adding that, following her reporting, Swedish outlet Expressen conducted a nationwide investigation and found this type of fraud to be widespread. ‘Last year, the Swedish government stopped all grants to this type of organization; most of them were Somali,’ Eriksson said.  The Swedish journalist added that, despite five years having passed since the revelations, the fraudsters have not faced justice. ‘In a report published last year, Sweden’s financial police concluded that a lot of money from associations in Sweden has gone to terrorist organizations abroad, just like in Minnesota, as well as to money laundering and private purchases,’ Eriksson said. According to police estimates, welfare fraud in Sweden amounts to approximately 75 billion Swedish kronor (around $8.1 billion) annually.  ‘The crimes are so extensive that they pose a systemic threat to our society,’ Eriksson emphasized, adding that socialist and mainstream parties on the left have often ‘turned a blind eye’ to these kinds of problems related to immigration, ‘as they have been dependent on the loyalty and votes of these large groups.’"

Then The Mayor Spotted Him - "A 38-year-old man who was wanted by police was arrested after allegedly hiding inside a life-size Nativity scene in southern Italy. The man was discovered on Dec. 6 after Galatone Mayor Flavio Filoni noticed something unusual while walking past the display in Piazza Santissimo Crocifisso... the 38-year-old from Ghana had previously gone missing in Bologna. Euronews reported that he had been ordered to serve nine months and 15 days for resisting a public official and aggravated assault, but went missing after sentencing. Filoni said he initially believed the figure was simply part of the Nativity display before realizing it was a real person"

"Both Pretti and Good participated in “ICE watching,” an anti-immigration-enforcement tactic that can involve tracking ICE agents, filming arrests, and alerting other activists of enforcement actions. While participants frame ICE watching as a “community safety” measure, these tactics often place untrained civilians in direct, high-stakes confrontation with armed federal agents.

In Minneapolis, one key organizer of these activities is “Defend the 612.” The group, the membership of which apparently included Renee Good, oversees a massive network of Signal chats dedicated to monitoring and protesting ICE activity. It has become the beating heart of the city’s resistance to federal immigration enforcement. (The group’s name refers to the Minneapolis area code.)

City Journal reviewed Defend the 612’s trainings, entered its Signal network, and traced its organizational support. Our reporting reveals that members and related officials have encouraged protesters to impede law enforcement; pushed civilians toward legally and physically risky confrontations; and helped mobilize a counterprotest that turned violent.

The group’s growth threatens to stoke the city’s already-raging fire...

Project RP, which cohosts trainings with STAC, has used a template centered on direct interference with enforcement. A Project RP organizer, Gabe Gonzalez, explained in 2017 that the group’s activities were “about interfering with [immigration enforcement], confusing them, slowing them down so they can’t take more people, and doing it so well that they never want to come back.” Last November, he reiterated the group’s objective to make immigration enforcement “uncomfortable and inefficient.”...

Lex Horan, an instructor, encouraged participants to make ICE’s work “too expensive,” “too difficult,” and “too annoying” to continue. Horan recounted having blown a whistle at a protest, which, she claimed, allowed the person ICE was questioning to “g[e]t away.”

Later at the same meeting, Minneapolis Park Board Commissioner Dan Engelhart (who did not respond to a comment request), removed all doubt about the group’s mission. Defend the 612’s goal, he said, is to “slow [law enforcement actions] down and cost them money.”

Defend the 612 uses Signal, an end-to-end encrypted messaging platform, to bring these tactics from the classroom to the streets. The group operates an extensive network of neighborhood- and task-based Signal chats, where members monitor ICE activity, train fellow activists, and coordinate protests...

The most active unvetted chats are dedicated to “rapid response” at the neighborhood level. In these discussions, participants track suspected ICE agents—by car and on foot—and post suspected officers’ locations, photos, and license plate numbers. Alongside the text chat, a dispatcher hosts a live group phone call, employing paramilitary jargon—such as “copy,” “roger,” “eyes on,” and “keep the air clear”—to coordinate surveillance of ICE agents.

Each group’s Signal description contains reference links that help Defend the 612 members better surveil federal immigration enforcement. Some chats link to instruction documents that train members how, for example, to follow suspected ICE officers’ vehicles. Others link to crowdsourced logs, which include a running database of more than 4,800 license plates of confirmed and suspected ICE vehicles; a log of deportation-related travel; and a list of nearly 70 hotels where ICE agents have been known to stay...

Another vetted chat, “Communications,” is dedicated to crafting an “external narrative-shaping strategy” for the ICE-watch movement. Members characterized their media work as “propaganda” and insisted on the need to “maintain control of your narratives.” To that end, participants discussed the need to condition their speech to journalists on retaining editorial control over how stories are written.

This arrangement runs counter to standard newsroom best practice. But chat participants claimed that the Minnesota Reformer—“an independent, nonprofit news” outlet whose parent organization was funded by the Arabella Advisors–managed Hopewell Fund—made an exception. In one exchange in the Communications chat, an account that appeared to belong to activist Elle Neubauer described allowing a Minnesota Reformer reporter to accompany him as he followed ICE agents in his vehicle, for a story published January 13. Neubauer claimed the reporter had agreed in advance to give activists final say over the article, which he said was read aloud to them line by line, revised at their request, and would have been pulled entirely on request. Members later debated whether the piece amounted to “good propaganda or bad propaganda,” warning that “propaganda will win or lose the fight and support for it.”...

In other Signal groups, members discuss how best to disrupt federal immigration enforcement. Members encouraged other participants to memorize the hotline of the National Lawyers Guild—“the nation’s oldest and largest progressive bar association”—for free legal services. One participant described getting arrested as a tool to divert agents from “vulnerable community members,” and encouraged other participants “to be super annoying and waste” law enforcement’s “time and resources.”

Members repeatedly referenced the “Simple Sabotage Field Manual,” an activist handbook that members used to generate ways to impede ICE. Members discussed throwing urine at agents, praising one such incident as “mvp” behavior. A daily update account called “The Report Card” encouraged participants to “annoy” agents with constant noise. They view “noise making and interrupting their meals and bathroom breaks” as essential, noting these tactics “serve a critical role in draining their morale.”

These Signal networks have also functioned as an organizing hub for an aggressive counterprotest. In the days leading up to a demonstration by right-wing influencer Jake Lang in Minneapolis earlier this month, members in Defend the 612’s “Phillips and Powderhorn” chat circulated a post about a “defensive counteraction.” They posted an image of a hanging Klansman and tactical guidelines instructing members to mask up, wear goggles, and not film attendees. One accompanying graphic marked as “false” the statement, “Nonviolence is the only strategy.”

(City Journal’s pseudonymous account made the suggestion that the demonstrators take a nonviolent approach. An administrator removed our account from the group.)

Other members defended the inclusion of militant advocates by citing “St. Paul’s Principles”—a framework that forbids the denunciation of fellow activists’ tactics. Following a violent clash that Saturday, group members circulated videos of Lang being dragged into a mob and struck over the head, gloating over the images as evidence that their counterprotest had been effective.

Such aggressive protest tactics can have lethal consequences. Defend the 612 members witnessed as much when Renee Good—whose name and likeness appeared on a profile in one of its Signal chats—was killed by an ICE officer after driving her car in his vicinity and refusing to heed his instructions.

For Defend the 612 organizers, Good’s death was a recruiting opportunity. The evening Good died, Defend the 612 held an “emergency vigil,” during which flyers were distributed directing attendees to join the group. At Defend the 612’s training session the following day, Fahlstrom reported about 1,000 new signups...

In another training on Defend the 612’s website, Garvey insisted that federal immigration enforcement has nothing to do with crime or “an invasion.” Instead, she suggested, the White House was simply “scapegoat[ing] vulnerable people” as part of an “escalation of authoritarianism.” This framing effectively provides a rationale for ignoring officers’ commands during field encounters.

Fahlstrom described Good’s death as an “assassination.” Another organizer noted that Good was on “driving patrol” at the time she died... Becca—who told Renee to drive—can be heard screaming, “Why did you have real bullets?”

Defense lawyer Kira Kelley spoke during the Defend the 612 training and downplayed the danger associated with “driving patrols.” “We saw with Renee’s tragic assassination that driving patrols do carry some physical risk,” she said, but “The biggest risk of all is to do nothing.”

Kelley, who did not respond to a comment request, advised participants to roll up their windows, remain silent, and refuse to open doors if agents approach. She did not clearly explain, however, that refusal to comply with lawful commands during an enforcement action can constitute interference. Rather than telling participants to refrain from all illegal activity, she advised them not to discuss illegal activity in Signal chats.

Absent from the Defend the 612 training was any instruction to put one’s personal safety first. Instead, Lex Horan asked volunteers to “stretch” their willingness to take risks.

Such risk-taking contributed to Good’s death. Had she complied with officers’ commands—regardless of their merits—she would almost certainly still be alive.

The death of Alex Pretti last weekend is only the latest tragedy to emerge from a model that places untrained civilians in the middle of high-stakes federal operations...

Following the shooting, the Defend the 612 network has not slowed down. Instead, organizers are leveraging the fatality to fuel a new wave of activity, urging more people to enter the same dangerous settings that claimed Pretti’s life.

Rather than pausing to reassess the safety of these tactics, Defend the 612 launched a series of 90-minute trainings. On Sunday, less than 24 hours after the shooting, an organizer sent an emergency message to the group’s Signal chats. “The only way these senseless murders, detentions and acts of violence will stop,” the message read, “is if tens and thousands [sic] of us are on the streets protecting each other.”

This cycle reveals the core strategy of Defend the 612’s leadership: using casualties as a catalyst for further escalation. Organizers continue to push volunteers into unpredictable scenes, ensuring continued confrontations between residents and federal agents, while the professional architects of the chaos remain shielded from the consequences."

 

Clearly, the ICE protests are organic and just are composed of concerned citizens, and all the protests are peaceful.

Proof that the US needs to crack down on "far right extremists" and/or "white supremacists", who are the top threat to the country.

'Unhoused,' not 'homeless' — advocates craft a new language of victimhood - "For several years, activists and self-styled “advocates” have been attempting to change the way we speak about social problems like homelessness, drug addiction, crime and unsocial behaviour. The intention is clear: to remove stigma and any overt suggestion of personal responsibility. The new names are meant to reorient our thinking so that we understand that the real causes of misfortune to be societal or systemic. If a word has shameful connotations, that seems to be enough to warrant change. The goal here is to refrain from describing anyone who could plausibly be identified as a victim as having any personal responsibility for their own fate. At the top of the list are the homeless. They are instead “unhoused” or “unsheltered.” They have homes, advocates say, in the communities where they live. But the housing market has let them down. Or, as some put it, these are people “experiencing” homelessness. The passive voice conveniently rids the whole issue of what some person might have done to end up that way. This thing called homelessness is just happening. Never mind that “homeless” itself was meant to take the shame out of terms that were very much intended to deliver it — words like “hobo” or “bum.”Then there is the case of drug addicts. Here, too, we’re meant to switch our speech to refer to those who have “substance use” issues. And when they find themselves on the brink of death from an overdose, advocates now want us to call these events “accidental poisonings.” The addict in your downtown needing to be resuscitated by a NARCAN kit? They aren’t engaged in a dangerous and illegal behaviour. Instead, they’re just like someone who had the bad luck to get salmonella from poorly cooked turkey. We are meant to think buying fentanyl-laced crack is almost the same as getting lumped with bad bean sprouts from No Frills... Perhaps by doing it, we might be contributing to marginalization, itself another increasingly popular term. Here we are talking about those who find themselves inhabiting the impoverished and crime-ridden areas of cities and the justice system. And here, too, we’re told to frame the issue as if something is always being done to people while ignoring what those individuals might have done to push themselves to the margins. People are marginalized by others, and by society. They suffer marginalization. It’s something that happens to someone. The most ludicrous example of this is the phrase “racialized,” as if someone’s skin colour or ethnic background is something that is not just a normal part of identity. Race, of course, isn’t a social problem, but some advocates insist on giving it the suffix of “-ized” to denote victimhood. The irony of this phrase is that it’s most heavily pushed by those who are the most keen on doing the “racializing” — those activists, the most enthusiastic racializers, insist that we can’t have race-neutral hiring or non-discrimination policies but continuously and endlessly invoke race as a category. All of this is more than just wordplay. It is a way to over-simplify complex problems. It’s about de-stigmatizing behaviours that society might very well wish to continue to stigmatize. Stigma and shame are, after all, one of the main ways social groups indicate disapproval. The problems of poverty, crime, addiction and homelessness are complex and multilayered. They are caused by a myriad of complex factors, some social and some personal. Identifying the precise causes and cures in each case requires sophisticated thinking. Yet the word changes being pushed by an activist crew are anything but. The new phrases cut off certain explanations from the very outset, insisting on a stigma-free diagnosis in which victims are blameless, and feeling good about identity matters more than accurately diagnosing the causes of someone’s problems and society’s ills."

the first mode is secular. homeless people are people, in a material sense, with no notable moral valence independent of their other characteristics. that said, their other characteristics tend to be repellent or annoying, so they're an irritant like criminals or teenagers
the second is characteristically christian and associated with dignity culture. homeless people bear the imago dei. they are not intrinsic moral superiors but their plight is a shame to us because it denudes them of the dignity that should be theirs by right of their humanity.
a third mode is to see the homeless as specially sacred, a class beyond ourselves. we are not obliged to clothe them in dignity; our duty is to facilitate and extend their holy degeneration. filth and madness and drugs are sacramental
the last mode that i am imagining and perhaps what OP is pointing at is an inversion of the holy conception of the homeless as an intrinsically and specially vile class; the homeless not as angels but as vermin. the civic model of homelessness in, for example, san francisco has for some time embraced the model of holy degeneration. akin to cows of india, they are more than human. they are not to be impeded, and they are to be maintained in filth at public expense as an act of piety

We share the home but I have been very uncomfortable as she has said she is in love with my husband. He doesn't entertain it as far as I know but I just feel like this is a toxic situation.  She only comes to the common areas when my husband is home which is better for me but she leaves a mess in the kitchen and doesn't clean up after herself or her child. I work from home so it is not like I could avoid her.  She took over my basement and said she would pay me for storage and she has not. I let it go because at the time we were still on friendly terms and I wanted her to save money so she could find her own place but after I got diagnosed with stage 1 cancer she said she was in love with my hubby.  She does other toxic things but that's probably more relationship issues so I won't discuss here but I would like to know how to evict her.  Her son is 6 and I told her they could no longer share a room and she quite confidently said that because there is a housing crisis in Ontario she will get to stay here and will make it so she becomes woman of the house.  I have put in a form to speak with a lawyer but I need help as this situation is making me anxious.  I'm at this point where I don't even know if I want to get treatment but I figure I would have to try something before I give up entirely."

A lot of Westerners are also surprised by this.  So here is why:  In Canada, for example, roughly 60 -70% of the homeless population are mentally ill or are drug addicts (from my own observation). In China, those two types of people are sent to mandatory asylums or rehabs (something that Canada doesn't). This removes the most significant contributor to homelessness.  Second, for those who are homeless because of financial reasons, finding a cheap room to live in is easy in China; those rooms are colloquially known as 挂壁房, which looks like this. The availability of affordable lodgings removes the second biggest contributor to homelessness.  Of course, there will be ppl who can't find cheap lodgings. For those individuals, the government will step in and send them to the local aid centre 救助站, which will send them back to their registered hukou location, where either the local community organization or their family will take care of them.  Lastly, there are ppl who voluntarily choose to live on the streets. Those ppl are not allowed to loiter in shopping centres, public transport, and tourist places. You can still find them in remote areas of the city, such as back alleys, or underneath an overpass.  I hope this explains why there isn't a visible homeless population in major population centres in China"

The devastating effect Victoria's hotel-shelters have had on surrounding businesses - "Since the nearby Comfort Inn became a temporary hotel for the homeless, cafe owner Jolanda Machholz now makes sure to arrive an extra half-hour early to work. She first scans the sidewalk for human feces, syringes, and bike parts. Then she circles her patio looking for people sleeping and shooting up. Then, she checks the outdoor drains, which have had their covers stolen four times, assumedly for scrap metal. Finally — and tentatively — she tugs on the lock on the front door; it was smashed in a month ago... BC Housing’s hotel-shelter initiative has definitely been noticed by Victoria's first responders, with police regularly performing drug and weapons busts at the sites, or dealing with violent stand-offs. The most recent spate of incidents include a 12-hour-period over November 5 and 6 where Victoria Police attended to three calls made in the hotels, all serious in nature. The first was the fire at Capital City Center Hotel for a fire that resulted in an estimated $250,000 in damage, and left 87 guests displaced. Our Place Society who runs this site, told CTV the fire was set by a guest, not a hotel resident. Victoria Police then attended to two more calls—both resulting in standoffs at the Howard-Johnson."

The Cost to Criminalize Homelessness - "A report by Rethink Homelessness in 2014 looked at Central Florida counties Seminole, Orange and Osceola. They analyzed the costs of “arrest, incarceration, medical and psychiatric emergency room use and inpatient hospitalizations” for a cohort of about 30 chronically homeless individuals in each county — a total of 107 throughout. They found in Osceola county alone, over ten years, 37 chronically homeless people were arrested 1,250 times, or about four times per person per year. The booking cost of each arrest was $104, costing taxpayers $130,000; the arrests led to 61,896 days of incarceration at a daily cost of $80, costing the community $4,951,680; this totaled to $6,417,905 over ten years, or $641,791 per year for those 37 people. Cycling these people of all three counties through this system was costing the counties $31,065 per person per year — almost the exact cost of paying each person $15 an hour for a full time job. The cost of supportive housing, giving these people a place to live and the help they need, whether medical or with finding a job, would have been far less though at an average of $10,051 per person per year, “a community cost reduction of 68%,” the report continued."
This is a shit study pretending that the cost of housing pre-selected individuals is the same as that of housing the homeless population in general (where the cost of the latter is artificially inflated by using the most expensive of the lot). They got 2 providers, Ability Housing of Northeast Florida of Jacksonville, FL and the Orange County Shelter Plus Care (S+C) Program to report the cost of housing people, but the former says "our communities are in high demand and often have waiting lists or no availability" (so they get to pick and choose who gets in, and they also prioritise the disabled) and the latter is for "homeless households with disabilities". On the other side, they inflated the cost of homelessness by looking at the very worst of the lot: "The individuals were identified by the local homeless outreach teams as those most frequently engaged by the teams". Also notably, the cost of arrest and incarceration was $1.2 million per year for these people, but the medical costs were $2.2 million per year. Maybe putting them in supervised housing will prevent them from ODing and reduce medical bills

Kitchener encampment residents react to region's plan to move them from current site - "Residents of the encampment at the corner of Victoria Street and Weber Street were surprised to see several dumpsters arrive on the site on April 16, accompanied by a notice of a proposed bylaw to clear the tents and make room to build a new transit hub... The first time the region tried to evict the residents was in late 2022, about a year after they had first set up the tents. But in January 2023, a Kitchener judge ruled the region could not evict people from the site until they had shelter spaces for everyone to move into. The region tried to argue the encampment went against a bylaw on public conduct on regionally owned properties. Justice M.J. Valente cited the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and said the region's plans to move people off the site at the time went against the person's rights to life, liberty and security of the person. That's because, Valente said in his ruling, the region lacked enough shelter space for everyone who was homeless... Residents told the centre the presence of dumpsters in their living space made them feel like "human trash" and they are "already planning on setting up tents in the backyards of houses and businesses," the report says."
Ironically, the people who push public transit and want to force everyone to use it are the same people who want homeless people to be able to camp anywhere without risk of removal because it's a human right and public space belongs to homeless people

He’s had thousands of dollars of product stolen. He’s spent more repairing damaged property, much of it done by the same small group, their crimes deemed too small to warrant sentencing. His compassion has waned while his vitriol mounted. I, too, am learning vitriol. Earlier this year, three men on bicycles with trailers (captured on neighbour’s cameras) broke into our home while we were out of town. Over the course of 24 hours, the footage suggests, they ransacked, showered, ate from our pantry, used the beds, left feces in our toilets and soiled clothes on the floor. They stole computers, phones, stereos, jewellery, family heirlooms, and tellingly: almost all our warm winter jackets and boots. They emptied our freezer and liquor cabinet, then stole our cars to transport their haul.  To the homeless encampment. At least, that’s where my work IT guy tracked my computer. Our cars, too, were found – by my brother-in-law, not the police – parked at the camp, as were the thieves’ bikes and trailers, easily identifiable from security footage. The RCMP officer assigned to our case called it the worst “home invasion” he’d ever seen, yet no one followed up with neighbours’ videos and had to be cajoled into taking beer cans for fingerprinting. Ninety days after the break-in, he banged on our door at 9 p.m. to say he needed us to sign a paper to extend the request: Months had gone by yet the evidence hadn’t even been analyzed. Another officer warned us not to expect a conviction, even if RCMP identified subjects and pressed charges. We’ve heard this before. One man caught stealing from my husband’s downtown business had been charged with “petty” theft over 200 times.  Nor did the RCMP try to track down our stolen items in the encampment – to do so, they explained, would infringe on reasonable expectations of privacy in the camp. Indeed, many people I’ve told about our situation have stories of friends or family members who’ve gone to the encampment themselves to try to find and buy back their stolen goods. One officer told us the best chance of retrieving our stuff will be if one of the perpetrators dies of an overdose: A corpse would allow them to enter the tent to claim stolen items... we need to be open to reassessing what’s working and what’s not. One example making headlines is British Columbia’s well-intentioned but poorly thought-through “safe supply” program. While safe supply has no doubt helped many people with drug addiction to obtain prescribed, non-toxic medications for personal use, it’s had unintended consequences. According to a recent class action lawsuit and the RCMP, lethal doses of “safe” opiate prescriptions are making their way onto the streets with dire consequences for first-time users and vulnerable youth, increasing the risk of overdose and further taxing emergency services, social workers, and hospitals.  “That’s what you get for legalizing drugs,” sniffed a manager at my bank when we went to check our account security after the break-in. In fact, decriminalization has seen more success in places like Portugal, largely because it was accompanied by heavy investment in addiction treatment services and assertive measures to engage people living with addictions who are found to be contributing to social problems. Portuguese decriminalization was also commitment to public safety. Critically, Portugal decriminalized drug possession but considered all drug crime illegal and punishable, enacting “dissuasion commissions” to tailor rehabilitation needs, stipulate penalties, and minimize community impact. By contrast, British Columbia’s incomplete approach – decriminalization and safe supply – hasn’t done enough to protect high-risk youth, fund effective and accessible treatment interventions, or prioritize public safety... For Canada to invest in the full tool kit required to combat addiction, it needs the backing of citizens who care about a healthy, equitable society.  I fear that’s what’s slipping.  The public price has become too high; hearts like mine are at risk of bleeding dry.  As more people end up as collateral damage to B.C.’s floundering approach to this complex problem, support inevitably wanes. The morning after the UN vote, the pages of Ad-Difa and Al-Wahda were saturated with threats, anti-Jewish invective, and demands for an 'Islamic Front' to rise. Al-Wahda’s headline: “O Arabs, the West has chosen your enemies. Will you remain stunned, or will you prepare?” By day two Arab violence had erupted throughout the mandate. The Palestine Post reported seven Jews murdered in multiple attacks on 30 November. Look at Ad-Difa’s own front page on the same date. Its headline describes the murder of Jews. The article described bus ambushes around Jerusalem, attacks in Lod, Tulkarm, Haifa and Jaffa The war had begun - and it had begun with Arab-initiated violence. Day three. The front page of Falastin is entirely about Arab mobilisation and anti-Jewish actions. The newspaper boasted about anti-Jewish pogroms throughout the Middle East: homes burned in Aleppo, attacks in Baghdad and Cairo, shootings in Jerusalem, Haifa, and Jaffa. On the same day, the Palestine Post described Jewish calls for restraint. It also reported that Arab families were leaving mixed neighborhoods to avoid the violence their own side was generating - a detail that matters deeply for refugee debates. Day four - Arab newspapers continue to chronicle attacks - and celebrate them. Ad-Difa’s front page led with ongoing Arab violence and noted that 49 Jews had now been killed - a cumulative total reported without any suggestion of regret. Day five: HaTsofe reports on the start of Jewish defense as Jews were killed in 'unprovoked attacks.' The article included striking details: Residential Jewish streets attacked, Families trapped in homes, Jewish houses burned, Snipers targeting rescue workers. Day Six: The Palestine Post reports attacks on remote Jewish settlements and notes Arab-on-Arab violence - the murder of a man who 'broke ranks' by not supporting the uprising. This coercive internal atmosphere is erased in modern ‘Nakba’ narratives. Day seven. A call from Egyptian students for battle. They pledged - in blood - not to return 'except victorious or as martyrs.' The seeds of the irregular armies that within weeks would invade and attack Jewish outposts. These seven days show the reality behind the ‘Nakba’ myth: Arab leaders chose violence from the start, and the region followed. The tragedy that came after wasn’t the result of a Jewish plan, but of a war Arab elites launched - and lost."

He went on to criticize Holocaust museums as a project of the “Zionist lobby.”... AMP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which means it is exempt from federal income tax, and donations made to it are tax-deductible. In July 2024, a Virginia court ordered AMP to provide internal and financial documents to Virginia Attorney-General Jason Miyares as part of an investigation that the charity may have been funneling funds to Hamas. Then, in March of this year, the US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions announced it was investigating AMP for its connections to Hamas-linked organizations and its relations with Students for Justice in Palestine and unrest on American campuses."

I stepped into a chamber charged with hostility, a sea of European keffiyeh-clad students who hadn’t come to listen, only to inflame and be inflamed. But it is precisely in rooms like this, where reason is drowned out by rage, that facts matter most. The motion: “This House Believes the International Community Has Failed Palestine.” Yet the opposition turned the floor into a theatre of one-sided condemnation, fixated on demonizing Israel and carelessly tossing out words like “apartheid” and “genocide.” Not once — not once — did they utter the name Hamas, nor acknowledge decades of failed Palestinian leadership that has poured billions into corruption and terror rather than the wellbeing of its own people. In that chamber, silence spoke louder than their speeches. And that is exactly why I spoke. “History shows clearly that from 1947 onward, the most decisive blows to Palestinian national aspiration came not from outside, but from within: from Arab states storming into war at every opportunity, from factionalism and widespread corruption, and from leaders far more committed to eliminating Israel than to building a viable state. The international community has indeed failed them - by coddling them despite their intransigence and terrorism
