Steve Milloy on X - "Four points on the Doomsday Glacier hoax that the climate clowns are trying to resurrect:
1. It's summer in Antarctica. Scientists threatened with defunding are taking media there to save their bacon.
2. There's been no surface warming at the West Antarctic Ice sheet in about 25 years.
3. The Thwaites glacier is melting (very slowly) from beneath because of geothermal warmth from volcanic activity.
4. Nothing going on at the Thwaites glacier has anything to do with emissions."
Steve Milloy on X - "The real inconvenient truth is this, says @BigJoeBastardi: After 30+ years and more than $10–12 trillion spent globally on the climate emergency that Al Gore and the loudest megaphones told us was already upon us:
- None of the short-term catastrophic predictions came true on the timelines given.
- Human well-being (life expectancy, poverty, hunger, child mortality) improved faster than at almost any time in history.
- The people who actually risk their own money — banks, insurers, developers, home-buyers — keep voting with trillions of dollars that the doomsday version is not imminent.
- Yet the policies, taxes, bans, and surveillance systems being rolled out in the name of climate are more intrusive and permanent than anything we accepted, even at the height of COVID."
Coddled Affluent Professional on X - "A few years ago a full professor of physics offhandedly assured me climate research was a scam and almost entirely a product of bad incentives in the grant industrial process. He knew of people doing perfectly reasonable modeling that were forced out for lack of funding because they didn’t come to the *correct* conclusions. If you look at academic knowledge production it’s actually a lot easier to engineer unanimity and consensus than you’d imagine."
Berlin power switched off by ‘extreme Leftists’ - "Far-Left extremists carried out an arson attack in Berlin over the weekend which could leave up to 45,000 households without electricity until Thursday. German officials said that the Vulkangruppe (Volcano Group), which has also been linked to an earlier attack on a Tesla factory near the capital, was behind the power cut. The group sent a letter to a newspaper taking responsibility for the attack, which targeted high-voltage cables near the Lichterfelde power station, south-west of the capital. In the letter, the far-Left arsonists said they were protesting against the use of fossil fuels because of the dangers they pose to the environment, as well as concerns over artificial intelligence... A Berlin police spokesman said they considered the letter, which railed against Germany’s “greed for energy” and boasted of cutting the “juice” of the “ruling class” to be credible. Stromnetz Berlin, the electricity provider, warned that the power cut could continue until Thursday. It has already left 35,000 homes and 1,900 businesses without power... The latest action was carried out amid freezing temperatures in the city, much of it blanketed by snow. Several care homes have been affected by the power cuts. The group said it regretted any disruption that the attack might have caused to less-affluent Berliners but said it was pleased to have struck “the many owners of villas”. It also claimed the arson was an “act of self-defence” against the fossil fuel industry, taken in solidarity with those who want to protect nature. The group previously claimed responsibility for an arson attack on tech billionaire Elon Musk’s Tesla factory on the outskirts of Berlin in 2024, which halted production temporarily at the site."

Lukas Ekwueme on X - "The EU’s decline has been studied... And then implemented. For years, the EU has spent millions researching degrowth and “beyond growth.” The framework is clear:
- Shift focus from growth to the environment
- Replace GDP with "beyond growth"
- Reduce energy consumption
Strip away the branding and it becomes obvious. “Beyond growth” is Net Zero. And Net Zero requires:
- less industry
- less production
- less energy use
The EU’s deindustrialization is not an accident.... It’s the intended outcome."

I wanted to reproduce this chart, so I took the liberty to download all NOAA GHCNd station files. I then selected all United States stations and filtered them so that I could examine records from long-term stations (which NCA4 did, although to my knowledge, they didn't define their criteria). Using my judgement, I selected all 711 stations that have at least 100 years of daily data with at least 85% of daily observations available (i.e., no more than 15% of days missing in the records). Finally, I wrote a Python script to analyze daily record high maximums and low minimums and count the number by year set (including all tied records where applicable), then ran the analysis from 1895 to 2024 (since 2025 is not fully in).
As it turns out, the number of record high temperatures have not increased since 1895. In fact, they have decreased since the 1950s (see top panel of figure on the right). The number of record lows (middle panel) have decreased too, but sharply since the late 1980s. Because of that, if you compute these raw values as a ratio with record lows in the denominator, it produces a sharp increase in the ratio of record high to low temperature records after 1990. That's what NCA4 did, and I was able to produce a very similar plot to verify that. So, while NCA4 didn't lie, they mislead people by using ratios. The IPCC does the same thing with hurricane statistics."
Scientist admits the 'overwhelming consensus' on the climate change crisis is 'manufactured' - "We are told climate change is a crisis, and that there is an “overwhelming scientific consensus.” “It’s a manufactured consensus,” climate scientist Judith Curry tells me. She says scientists have an incentive to exaggerate risk to pursue “fame and fortune.” She knows about that because she once spread alarm about climate change. The media loved her when she published a study that seemed to show a dramatic increase in hurricane intensity... But then some researchers pointed out gaps in her research — years with low levels of hurricanes. “Like a good scientist, I investigated,” says Curry. She realized that the critics were right. “Part of it was bad data. Part of it is natural climate variability.” Curry was the unusual researcher who looked at criticism of her work and actually concluded: “They had a point.” Then the Climategate scandal taught her that other climate researchers weren’t so open-minded. Alarmist scientists’ aggressive attempts to hide data suggesting climate change is not a crisis were revealed in leaked emails. “Ugly things,” says Curry. “Avoiding Freedom of Information Act requests. Trying to get journal editors fired.” It made Curry realize that there is a “climate-change industry” set up to reward alarmism. “The origins go back to the . . . UN environmental program,” says Curry. Some United Nations officials were motivated by “anti-capitalism. They hated the oil companies and seized on the climate change issue to move their policies along.” The UN created the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. “The IPCC wasn’t supposed to focus on any benefits of warming. The IPCC’s mandate was to look for dangerous human-caused climate change.” “Then the national funding agencies directed all the funding . . . assuming there are dangerous impacts.” The researchers quickly figured out that the way to get funded was to make alarmist claims about “man-made climate change.” This is how “manufactured consensus” happens. Even if a skeptic did get funding, it’s harder to publish because journal editors are alarmists. “The editor of the journal Science wrote this political rant,” says Curry. She even said, “The time for debate has ended.” “What kind of message does that give?” adds Curry. Then she answers her own question: “Promote the alarming papers! Don’t even send the other ones out for review. If you wanted to advance in your career, like be at a prestigious university and get a big salary, have big laboratory space, get lots of grant funding, be director of an institute, there was clearly one path to go.” That’s what we’ve got now: a massive government-funded climate alarmism complex."
Platform against ‘mega-solar centres’ across Beira Baixa calls protest in Lisbon for January 31 - "The Portuguese Platform for the Defence of the Tejo Internacional Natural Park (PDPNTI) will deliver a public petition to parliament against mega solar power plants planned for the Beira Baixa region on January 30, followed by a demonstration the next day. In the petition “Save Beira Baixa – Stop the Mega Solar Power Plants”, which has already collected more than 18,000 signatures, signatories demand a halt to plans for massive photovoltaic power plants in natural areas with fragile ecosystems throughout the eastern region of central Portugal... The signatories also want residents to “have a say in the decisions that shape their future... Recently, the evaluation committee coordinated by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) rejected the Beira photovoltaic power plant project after identifying significant negative impacts on ecological systems and land use."

Nolte: Kamala’s $8M Home Purchase Proves She Doesn’t Believe in Climate Change - "Former Vice President Kamala Harris (D-WordSalad) just proved that she doesn’t believe in Climate Change by purchasing an $8.15 million home that sits right on the Pacific coast of Malibu. But-but-but she said this in 2023: “To live in a coastal community is to live on the front lines of the climate crisis.”... Former President Barry Obama says he believes in Climate Change (i.e., that the oceans will rise) and still buys a multi-million dollar home right on the coast that proves he doesn’t believe it. Bond Villain Bill Gates is so worried about the planet warming and oceans rising, he wants to blot out the sun, and yet he bought a $43 million home right on the coast. Oh, and here’s my favorite… CNN, a basement-rated, far-left propaganda outlet that spreads conspiracy theories and encourages political violence, has spent decades preaching the Global Warming Gospel, but what did CNNLOL do? CNNLOL moved from the safe inland city of Atlanta to a spot directly on the coast in New York. It’s all a joke. The very same people who preach this nonsense openly ridicule their followers by brazenly investing millions in a way that proves they don’t really believe it. By my count, the climate “experts” are 0-54 with their predictions, and only a fool would believe number 55."

Polytechnique MontrΓ©al removes beef from cafeteria menus to cut emissions - "The decision meant removing some of the school’s most popular menu items. Three of the bestsellers — the beef burger, the Philly steak submarine, and the smoked-meat poutine — all contained beef. “The beef burger alone accounted for about four to five per cent of our sales,” said Benoit BeausΓ©jour-Savard, director of the Polytechnique Food Services Association, who is in charge of food services at the school... Polytechnique MontrΓ©al, affiliated with UniversitΓ© de MontrΓ©al, says it's the first post-secondary institution in North America to stop offering students beef. But agricultural producers have criticized the decision. “It's really a shame to set aside excellent beef protein,” said Charles-FΓ©lix Ross, general director of the Union of Agricultural Producers. “It is a narrow-minded view to think and believe that by eliminating beef from menus, we will truly promote, support, and sustain sustainable development, local purchasing,” he said... Environmental groups at Polytechnique hope the move will go even further. “We expect Polytechnique to take note of this and gradually reduce the amount of meat offered,” said Olivier Verrette, 23, director of PolysphΓ¨re, an environmental committee at the school. BeausΓ©jour-Savard said the cafeterias could target milk next, though the goal is not to eliminate animal protein entirely."

Rep. Laurel Libby on X - "The Biden administration and Augusta Democrats pushed electric school buses onto Maine school districts, and now our communities are paying the price. Who could’ve seen this coming?? Well... literally ANYONE with common sense, a desire for accountability for Maine taxpayers, and basic awareness of our climate. Some of these buses never worked. Others failed almost immediately. Districts were left with $400,000 paperweights sitting in their parking lots, all while still needing to get kids to school. The company that built many of these buses has since gone bankrupt. That means contracts and warranties are worthless. The buses themselves? Many are being dumped on auction sites, likely to sell for pennies on the dollar... IF they sell at all. Maine taxpayers are now footing the bill for “mitigation strategies” and “disposal plans” for buses that were SUPPOSED to save money and "help the environment." The state even hired a Vermont consulting firm to provide “one-on-one support” to districts... MORE taxpayer dollars spent cleaning up a mess created by the Biden administration! This isn’t just about buses. It’s deja vu. Politicians roll out expensive, ideological experiments without thinking through the consequences. When they fail, Mainers are left holding the bag. (Think, solar subsidies!) The EPA is now talking about “revamping” and “modernizing” the Clean School Bus Program to make sure tax dollars aren’t “frivolously wasted.” Great... that does nothing for Maine districts already stuck with broken buses. Winthrop, Yarmouth, Vinalhaven, and districts across our state didn’t ask for this. They took advantage of available funding and focused on serving students. Now they have equipment that doesn’t work and years of uncertainty over who pays for the failure. This is what happens when ideology replaces practicality... and when there’s no accountability for failure. Maine families and taxpayers deserve better. Jacob Shell on X - "I've pointed this out before. 2012, a Marxist academic figure like Andreas Malm was doing solid scholarship on "China as Chimney of the World" about Chinese carbon emissions. By late 2010s he stopped mentioning East Asian industrialization ever again, even though this had been his research expertise. By 2020s he was doing manifestos about "how to blow up pipelines" which never mention East Asia and the whole implication is the "pipelines to be blown up" are the ones in Europe, US and Canada. It was as if, the instant Trump defeated Clinton in '16, Malm decided he wanted the main function of his work to be attacking the West rather than analyzing the geography of global carbon emissions. I don't really understand why so many Marxist intellectuals were this traumatized by Hillary Clinton losing that election, but it cased many of them to pass everything they'd produced up until that point through the shredder."
The drowned world | Meteorology | The Guardian - "By the summer of 2020, global warming will have had such devastating effect on the northern icecap that European ships may routinely cross the high latitudes to take the short routes to Asia and the Pacific. The Arctic Ocean, once frozen solid all winter and choked with hazardous floes for most of the summer, could be one of the friendlier seas... one of the Arctic's great spectacles, the polar bear, will have taken a dive: they need the sea ice to survive. For them, the ice is the way to a diet of seals, walruses and small whales. When the floes go, ursus maritimus will be on the road to extinction... The conclusions are beyond dispute and the process is unstoppable. By 2020, according to the US Office of Naval Research, the north-east and north-west passages should be navigable... Glaciers in Alaska and the mountains of tropical Africa are in retreat, and climate scientists have predicted that by 2020 the snows of Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya will have vanished. In Europe, Alpine economies built on skiing and other mountain sports will have begun to fail. In south Asia, for at least part of the year, snow melt is the only source of water for millions of farmers. Adventure tourists will lose their holidays. Others stand to lose rather more. On the Indian subcontinent, half a billion people depend on the Indus and Ganges rivers, whose sources lie among melting snows of the the Hindu Kush, the Karakoram and the western Himalaya. But these great snowfields, too, are disappearing... By 2020, then, the Arctic will have begun to change for ever. The adventure tales of the past will be distant history: stories of explorers fighting their way by sled across the perilous frozen seas will be science fiction to young readers and nostalgic yearnings for a lost world to their parents."

This doesn't stop climate change hystericists from continuing to claim that renewables are the cheapest way to generate power and nuclear is super expensive
Because warming up your own vehicle before work? That’s now “unnecessary pollution.” Without warning, Germany ordered Lexus to remotely shut down the remote-start function on combustion vehicles—leaving over 100,000 drivers stranded in freezing temperatures. A Toyota rep confirmed the move, calling it “compliance.” But compliance with what? This is the new climate authoritarianism—where your ability to heat your own car is revoked overnight with an app update The World Economic Forum said it plainly: “You will own nothing.” And now it’s happening—renting features, renting heat, renting freedom. The pretext is the climate. The real goal is control. And electric vehicles? They’re even easier to shut down. Today it’s your car. Tomorrow it’s your fridge, your heat, your bank account. The stated reason for blocking? Climate and environment. The actual result? ISO New England's own analysis: "Oil and coal generators are critical on the coldest winter days when natural gas supply is constrained." Oil produces 50% more CO2 per MWh than natural gas combined cycle. Coal is worse. They blocked pipelines to fight climate change. The outcome is higher emissions during peak demand, higher electricity prices, and grid strain. Policy intended to reduce emissions is forcing the exact opposite.
