Massive verdicts do not simply punish past conduct; they reshape future behavior by making malpractice insurance unavailable or prohibitively expensive. Entire lines of practice disappear not because legislators intervene, but because insurers refuse to underwrite the risk. That is why this verdict matters. For years, critics of pediatric gender medicine have warned that vulnerable minors were being rushed toward irreversible interventions without science-based psychological exploration, without meaningful long-term outcome data, and under an atmosphere of emotional coercion that routinely invoked suicide risk to justify speed. In this case, jurors heard testimony that a parent opposed the surgery but consented out of fear that refusal might lead to self-harm. They heard evidence that clinicians lacked full knowledge of the patient’s doubts and psychological history. In my view, the pediatric gender industry represents the most serious medical scandal since the lobotomy era: an entire class of vulnerable patients subjected to irreversible interventions driven by ideology, debunked evidence, and institutional groupthink. Financial accountability will not undo the harm already done. But it may finally slow the machinery that continues to produce it. This verdict is an important marker. It signals that juries are willing to look past slogans and examine facts. It signals that standard-of-care arguments are resonating. And it signals that a litigation storm may be forming. It is long overdue."

Benjamin Ryan on X - "People are shocked that all it took for the AMA to change its policy on pediatric gender transition surgeries was for another medical group, the ASPS, to do it. But this phenomenon is how the unanimity among the medical groups fell into place in the first place. It was only ever based on a few small committees within a couple of medical organizations, putting aside WPATH, which is a quasi-activist-medical organization. It got started in the 2010s as WPATH and the Endocrine Society, which have a lot of overlap between them and referred to one another's guidelines in their citations, put out guidelines. And then in 2018 a single medical resident wrote the American Academy of Pediatrics' policy statement on the gender-affirming care method. Along the way, other major medical associations took these other groups' lead, including the APA and AMA. And then all the other ones fell in line. These groups did not conduct major independent analyses of the evidence. Even the AAP never conducted a systematic literature review to support its policy statement. And in August 2023, the AAP said it was going to conduct one. But there is no sign that the organization has even started on that. Because if they ever did, there is only one conclusion that it could have: that the evidence backing providing gender-transition interventions to minors is weak and inconclusive. All this is to say is that the mantra "all major medical association support gender affirming care for kids" was always a hallow claim. What it really meant is that: "A few small committees at a few organizations decided to support this, in part because of one another, and all the other small committees at all the other organizations followed their lead.""

Glenna Goldis on X - "Today I was fired by NY Attorney General Letitia James for speaking out against pediatric gender medicine (PGM). James supports "transitioning" kids with puberty blockers, hormones, and surgery. She sued the federal government to protect the PGM industry from investigations and funding cuts. And she argued (dubiously) that doctors who decline to offer PGM are liable for "discrimination." I was an attorney in NYAG's consumer frauds bureau, which did not work on anything related to PGM. Since 2024 I'd been raising the alarm publicly and within NYAG that PGM providers may be engaged in a dangerous consumer fraud. James's officials treated me like a pest. These attorneys struggled to explain why my public statements were problematic, apparently because they weren't engaging with the issue. When the general counsel finally identified an objectionable line in my blog, it was where I stated the holding of US v. Skrmetti (banning PGM isn't discriminatory). She wrote that it contradicted James's legal position. Indeed. NYAG's ethics chief warned me it was unethical to "take public legal positions that conflict with" James's. The Rule of Professional Conduct that he cited said no such thing. It seemed he was trying to protect James by cowing me into silence. I'm a lesbian, i.e., a "member of the LGBTQ community" that James purports to champion. I tried to explain to NYAG officials that PGM, by its nature, targets children who defy sexed norms -- whom studies show are more likely to be gay when they grow up. PGM can reportedly leave them with sexual dysfunction, chronic genital pain, and incontinence, among all sorts of other side effects. No one in authority at NYAG showed interest in the concern that PGM may be homophobic. If Letitia James actually cared about "LGBTQ" youth then she'd research "gender" drugs and learn what they do. Instead she glibly calls the drugs "safe" and fires me for contradicting her. I've practiced public interest law for my entire 15-year career. My social circles are full of progressive lawyers. Like most Americans, they tend to be leery of PGM. But their leaders on the left treat it like a battle of good vs. evil. That makes ordinary people afraid to voice skepticism. James's behavior toward me illustrates why the public discussion of PGM is often one-sided in places like NYC -- and so strikingly different from what you hear behind closed doors. James was wrong to treat me like a pest. I was trying to warn her about red flags for fraud that I saw around PGM -- that's what she hired me to do. I was honored to serve in the consumer frauds bureau and thought my colleagues there did great work. I still do. I hope someday they'll investigate PGM providers. In the end NYAG accused me of engaging in "disruptive public speech." Unfortunately, that's not true. I haven't disrupted the Democratic elite's zombie-like devotion to PGM providers. But I'm just getting started."

Asking midwives to record the sexual orientation of newborns is sickening - "It’s the first and most fundamental piece of information to be recorded about us the moment we’re born. Alongside our parentage, our weight, our length and our head circumference – it’s crucial to our identity. So it’s hard to imagine the bafflement of staff at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust when they discovered – during a recent training session for the trust’s new software system – that there was no option of recording a newborn’s biological sex on the registration forms. One midwife was brave enough to blow the whistle, saying staff are “worried” by the forms, but don’t want to raise the issue with NHS managers. Because that’s how effective the gender warriors have been with their intimidation tactics. Like the fearful subjects in The Emperor’s New Clothes, nobody wants to be the one to point out the obvious and say, “But the child is either a boy or a girl!” It gets worse. Whilst there is no obligation to record biological sex on the new American-made software, the default settings do include a form asking for a newborn’s gender identity, pronouns and sexual orientation. You know, alongside the time and date... It would be funny if this were all part of some inconsequential, narcissistic little game that people liked to play in their spare time. Only this new software is being used in at least 10 NHS trusts. Oh, and the “upgrade” cost £450m... On the subject of dignity, you should know that the new patient form on the system also includes an “organ inventory”. This reduces babies to pieces of meat, even if it does mean that one can record whether they have a penis or a vagina. If only there were a simpler way of describing the human beings in possession of those two things."

The justification for permanent body alteration to conform the sexed by to the gender identity supposes that "gender identity" is REAL, KNOWN WITH CERTAINTY, and STABLE. Detransitioners prove by their very existence that it isn't at least one of those."

The most common diagnoses were depressive disorders (males: 49.3%, females: 57.5%), anxiety disorders (23.5%/34.0%), emotionally unstable personality disorder of the borderline type (12.1%/17.6%), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders (12.7%/12.6%), and post-traumatic stress disorders (9.9%/13.6%).. In the longitudinal cohort (n = 7885, 47.1% in the age group 20–24 years; 37.7% male), only 36.4% still had a confirmed F64 diagnosis after five years and diagnosis persistence was below 50% in all age groups (range 27.3% [15–19-year-old females] to 49.7% [20–24-year-old males])."
Yet more evidence on "trans" people having other mental health conditions, as well as evidence that after 5 years, 64% detransition. But we will still be told that the detransition rate is 1-2% based on a shit study of trans people (i.e. where you wouldn't expect detransitioners)

Independent Women’s Law Center and Broad Coalition File Brief to Protect Parents’ Rights Against Secret ‘Transition’ in School - "Independent Women’s Law Center and a coalition of 65 other amici filed an amicus brief in Mirabelli v. Bonta, supporting parental rights and urging the United States Supreme Court to put a stop to a California school district’s secret social gender transition policy. In this case, parents and teachers challenged a school district policy that required teachers to deceive parents about their child’s gender transition at school. One of the families who brought this challenge did not find out that their daughter was being treated as a boy at school until after their daughter attempted suicide. The federal district court in San Diego held for the parents and teachers and permanently enjoined the state from imposing secret social transition policies on teachers and parents. Despite the school’s clear violation of parental rights, the Ninth Circuit stayed the district court’s injunction."

Dr. Rialon, the Daily Wire reports, “posted a number of ‘anonymous defamatory reviews’ on Haim’s public WebMD profile while he was still an anonymous whistleblower and his identity had not been made public. Her reviews, according to the lawsuit, ‘accused him of mutilating and raping his patients.’ In one post, she pretended to be a female patient who had been raped by Haim. “Her posts, according to the lawsuit, were intended to encourage the government’s prosecution as well as punish Haim for ‘exposing Texas Children’s Hospital’s deception and her complicity in the misconduct.’ Rialon admitted to the FBI that she posted these claims against Haim under fake names, the lawsuit notes.”"

Canada one of the world's last holdouts on transing children - "As democracies around the world pull back on the tenets of youth gender medicine, Canada is emerging as one of the last countries still hewing to the idea that minors should be prescribed hormones and even surgery to affirm a self-described gender identity... This follows on a November decision by New Zealand to slap strict new controls on hormones prescribed for the “purpose of puberty suppression for children or adolescents.” The country’s Ministry of Health has previously stated that there was a “lack of good quality evidence to back the effectiveness and safety of puberty blockers.” The Australian state of Queensland similarly banned puberty blockers in January, with the state’s premier framing it as a reaction to “troubling allegations” that a sexual health clinic had been caught distributing unauthorized hormone therapies to 42 children. When an Australian court ordered a freeze on the puberty blocker directive, Queensland Health Minister Tim Nicholls simply ordered it again. All the while, countries across Europe have been systematically pulling back on policies that prioritized immediate hormone treatment for children expressing gender dysphoria. Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, among others, have all tightened the requirements under which a child can be prescribed puberty blockers. In Italy, for instance, the country’s national bioethics committee recommended in 2024 that puberty blockers only be prescribed after “psychotherapy” or “psychiatric interventions” had failed to alleviate feelings of gender dysphoria. That same year, the U.K. released the Cass Review, a comprehensive government inquiry into the country’s system of “gender services” care for minors. One of the report’s most influential findings was that the routine prescription of puberty blockers had been pursued based solely on the conclusions of a “single Dutch study.” There was “very limited evidence” the hormones improved mental health, despite plenty of risk that they were imposing “longer-term neuropsychological consequences,” the report found. Puberty blockers for children have been subject to a blanket British ban ever since, with the country’s Department of Health and Social Care declaring that they are an “unacceptable safety risk for children and young people.” Even in France, which maintains relatively liberal access to puberty blockers, the official position of the Académie nationale de médecine is that they should only be a last resort. A 2022 communique by the academy stated that “psychological supports,” not drug treatments, should be the first treatment offered to any child “expressing a desire to transition.” The statement also urged parents to be wary of trans identities being the product of social contagion. The academy warned that “excessive consultation of social networks” was “responsible, for a very important part, of the growing sense of gender incongruence.” In Canada, by contrast, virtually every health body and government agency continues to defend a policy of permitting children of any age to obtain hormone therapies with minimal oversight. Often, these therapies are framed as being completely safe and even reversible. The Canadian Paediatric Society, most notably, explicitly dismissed all of the conclusions of the Cass Review, and continues to recommend an “affirming approach” to gender dysphoric youth. Under the most recent version of their guidelines, published in June 2023, symptoms such as “a strong dislike of one’s sexual anatomy” and “a strong preference for playmates of the other gender” are among a list of markers that may warrant a diagnosis of gender dysphoria requiring a course of “gender-affirming hormone therapy.” Health Canada’s official guidelines similarly break with conclusions in both Europe and the U.S. that puberty blockers carry both side-effects and long-term consequences. “Puberty suppression is reversible, as puberty restarts when a person stops taking puberty-blocking medications,” reads a Government of Canada website entitled “how to access gender-affirming care.” The only jurisdiction in Canada that has broken with the “affirmation” approach is Alberta, which in 2024 banned “hormone therapies to minors for the treatment of gender dysphoria or gender incongruence,” as well as “sex reassignment surgery on minors.” The Canadian Medical Association has not only opposed the action, but has funded litigation to block it... “When a government bans specific treatments, it interferes with a doctor’s ability to empower patients to choose the best care possible,” said association president Joss Reimer."

In 2019, German psychiatrists observed a sudden surge of adolescent girls presenting to clinics with abrupt-onset Tourette-like tics. This immediately raised alarm bells. Tourette’s typically affects boys and begins in early childhood. This was an entirely new patient population. Researchers quickly identified the index case: Jan Zimmermann, a young Tourette sufferer, whose YouTube channel had recently exploded in popularity. The girls displayed the exact same symptoms as Jan: the same outbursts and catchphrases. The phenomenon soon migrated to TikTok, where it spread like wildfire. Researchers coined a new term for what they were observing: mass social media–induced illness — a modern iteration of the long-recognized phenomenon of mass sociogenic illness. Yet, in 2014, when paediatric gender clinics across the Western world began to fill with adolescent girls — another entirely new patient population — “gender-affirming” clinicians didn’t even bother to look for the trigger. And it wouldn’t have taken much effort to find. All it required was a glance at the cultural messaging of the time. Because 2014 was the year Time magazine put Laverne Cox on its cover with the headline: The Transgender Tipping Point: America’s Next Civil Rights Frontier. And with that, the modern trans rights movement launched. Trans-identified celebrities were everywhere, trans characters appeared in children’s books and television shows, trans influencers proliferated with astonishing speed online, and schools began teaching gender identity ideology as if it were scientific fact. And in a perfect-storm scenario, smartphones and social media exploded in popularity, creating the ideal super-spreading environment for this seductive idea to go viral. The message adolescents received was simple: If you hate your body, that could mean you’re trans. And right on cue, legions of confused adolescents who hated their developing bodies began showing up at gender clinics believing themselves to be trans. Just like the TikTok tics. A mass social media–induced illness. Except on this occasion, instead of scrambling to contain the epidemic, doctors picked up their syringes and scalpels and set about permanently medicalising the innocent youth caught up in this powerful cultural storm. And activists marched in the streets demanding that these young people be allowed to sacrifice their health, fertility, and body parts — while swiftly demonising anyone who dared point out the obvious parallels to social contagions of the past."

English courts defy own ruling on trans toilets - "English courts are still allowing biological men to use women’s toilets in defiance of a Supreme Court ruling. Eight months on from a landmark judgment that trans women are not women under equalities law, HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has still not updated its rules on the use of ladies’ facilities... In April the Supreme Court ruled that the word “sex” in the Equality Act refers to biological sex and not a person’s gender identity. The EHRC published interim guidance soon afterwards to say that public bodies should bar trans people from the toilets of their opposite sex, and that they could provide unisex facilities for trans people. It submitted its final guidance to equalities minister Bridget Phillipson, who is also Education Secretary, but she has so far refused to publish it. In the meantime, many public bodies, including the NHS, have refused to update their guidance, saying they are waiting for the EHRC... Following the incident, Ms Sylvester was told that she could not have any 'physical interaction with the rest of her team, who all worked in the shared open plan workspace along with 40 or so other staff'. She had to book a back room on the same floor when she worked on the university's campus, to make sure that she 'did not risk coming into contact with CD'. In a meeting about the incident in March, Ms Sylvester told investigators from the Faculty of Humanities, Stuart Phillipson and Martin Banks, that 'her dyspraxia made it more difficult for her to gender CD correctly'. She was told in October 2024 that she would not face disciplinary proceedings for the harassment of CD. The tribunal found the appeal panel carried out some 'sloppy work' and failed to do some 'basic due diligence'."

The Harry Potter author highlighted the front page of Friday’s Telegraph, which reported that Bridget Phillipson is stopping the publication of the guidance for public bodies and businesses. The Women and Equalities Secretary has failed to sign off the proposed rules, which would protect female-only spaces, more than three months after receiving them... The author also criticised a Labour post on the social media website setting out how the party aimed to protect children from misogyny and abuse. It said: “Every parent should be able to trust that their daughter is safe at school, online and in her relationships. With Labour, they will be.” Rowling said: “As you’re fighting to remove our daughters’ rights to the privacy and safety of single-sex bathrooms and changing rooms, while poised to allow the unethical puberty blockers trial, perhaps children should be protected from @UKLabour.”"
Stand aside, Phillipson. The law is clear - "When is a Supreme Court judgment not a Supreme Court judgment? When it is treated as optional by those who once celebrated the authority of the courts as sacrosanct. When Baroness Hale and her fellow justices ruled that Boris Johnson’s prorogation of Parliament was unlawful, progressives across Britain hailed the decision as a triumph for truth, democracy and the rule of law. The judgment affirmed a fundamental constitutional principle: that Parliament’s ability to scrutinise and hold the executive to account must not be overridden for political convenience. The Supreme Court was lauded not merely as an arbiter of legal disputes, but as a guardian of democratic integrity. Yet that reverence appears conspicuously absent in response to April’s Supreme Court ruling that, under the Equality Act, “sex” refers to biological sex... In a statement submitted to the High Court, Ms Phillipson argued that banning trans women from women’s lavatories would also imply that women could not take their infant sons into changing rooms at swimming pools. She further suggested that the guidance fails to accommodate “common sense” scenarios, such as pregnant women choosing to use men’s toilets to avoid queues in theatres. She even went so far as to ponder whether a peripatetic female massage therapist who only provides massages to women could make an exception for a man with whom she has a pre-existing professional relationship. This is palpable nonsense. No reasonable interpretation of the guidance – or of the law – would prevent mothers from accompanying young children, nor would it criminalise pragmatic, informal decisions made in everyday life. These examples function less as genuine concerns and more as rhetorical devices designed to sow confusion about what the ruling actually entails. But there is a deeper contradiction at play. The government claims to be pursuing a serious crackdown on violence against women and girls, repeatedly asserting that it stands firmly on the side of females. And yet here we have a senior cabinet minister accused of “using every excuse in the book” to delay or dilute a Supreme Court ruling that explicitly affirms women’s sex-based rights. It’s as disingenuous as proposing to teach boys about respect for women in schools while continuing to provide room and board for migrant rapists entering the country illegally... Reports suggest the delay may be politically motivated. Ms Phillipson was, at the time, vying for the Labour deputy leadership and may have feared a backlash from LGBT activists and party members. If true, this would represent a deeply cynical calculation: subordinating legal clarity and women’s rights to internal party management. Ms Phillipson’s position has been set out in more detail in her intervention as an interested party in a High Court case brought by the Good Law Project, which is challenging an interim version of the EHRC guidance. The organisation, founded by Jolyon Maugham, the KC who once killed a fox while wearing a kimono (him, not poor Reynard), thinks the Supreme Court ruling violates the Human Rights Act, arguing that the right to a private life includes the right to access single-sex spaces reserved for the opposite sex. So much for women’s privacy! In court papers lodged in November, Ms Phillipson agrees the guidance is discriminatory, arguing that the Supreme Court ruling was primarily about maternity rights, and insists there are already “many entirely plausible exceptions” to single-sex provisions. But that is not what is really happening here. What we are witnessing is a coordinated effort by Labour MPs, peers and pro-trans lobbying organisations to frustrate, weaken or overturn the practical consequences of the Supreme Court’s decision. It is the same constellation of activists who previously attempted to have Baroness Falkner removed as chair of the EHRC with a dodgy dossier of spurious complaints. Although Baroness Falkner has since stepped down after a review by an independent legal expert cleared her of any wrongdoing, she has been forthright in her criticism of the government, arguing that it has “abandoned women and feminism.” She previously noted that while parliamentarians are entitled to raise constituents’ concerns, it is wholly unacceptable to undermine the integrity of the judiciary or the independence of the regulator charged with enforcing equality law."

Hence the demand to exclude all adult males, regardless of how they identify. Otherwise, any man with dubious intentions can gain access to a women’s changing room simply by claiming he’s trans. He cannot, however, gain access to it by claiming he’s only two years old. This would be a rather more difficult trick to pull off. But many Canadians may not know that it has also collected this information for children aged 0 to 14... the authors claim that “children and youth are often assumed to be cisgender [identifying with their biological sex] . . . from birth until they ‘come out’ as a different gender on their own accord.” They cite a study that purportedly demonstrates that “children aged 18 to 24 months are developmentally capable of recognizing gender norms and expressing gendered behaviours in visible ways.” But the study and the broader developmental psychology literature do not say that toddlers “recogniz[e] gender norms.” What they actually show is that children begin developing the ability to distinguish males from females—based on perceptual cues like faces and voices—between one and two years of age. This has nothing to do with recognition of a subjective inner sense of self. Later in that paragraph, the Guide claims that “Children may mimic gender norms and roles learned from people in their environment, assert their desire for certain clothing, hair styles or other accessories and choose to play with toys that match their gender identity.” Apparently, the authors believe that if toddlers play with a doll or a truck, they are expressing their “gender identity,” and that adults should interpret such behavior as a window into the child’s internal psychological state. Things become even more speculative from there. The Guide’s authors claim that “transgender and non-binary children may recognize and express their gender to others from as early as 2 to 3 years old.” But the studies they’re gesturing at show nothing of the kind—in reality, they report the ages at which parents socially transitioned their children, not when children formed a stable internal sense of identity. A three-year-old boy who prefers his hair long is not announcing that he is a girl; rather, parents who “affirm” their boy as a girl for such reasons are revealing their ideology. Next, the Guide turns to the concept of “gender.” The authors claim that it is “normal” for a child’s gender to change over time, and that “children do not experience undue harm from exploring their gender in ways that differ from their assumed gender or sex at birth.” But while most forms of imagination-based play are normal and harmless, like pretending to be a superhero or one’s favorite Disney character, in today’s clinical and educational environment, “gender exploration” is often paired with “social affirmation,” which in turn often begets puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. EXCLUSIVE: Docs Knew Gender Science Was ‘Shoddy,’ But Pushed Chemical Sex Changes On Kids Anyway | The Daily Caller - "Private emails from leaders of an influential transgender medical organization expose how ideology and consensus, rather than science, has undergirded the explosive growth of the child sex-change industry. The emails were revealed under Freedom of Information laws. As their gender clinic boomed with patients, University of California San Francisco (UCSF) medical directors Maddie Deutsch and Stephen Rosenthal acknowledged behind the scenes that research supporting child sex-changes was “shoddy” and fueling “predatory practices,” emails show... As a result of Judicial Watch’s lawsuit, UCSF released 2,491 pages of emails. Among the revelations is that UCSF gave puberty blockers to children as young as nine. Puberty blockers are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of gender dysphoria. “There is something rotten in the state of California,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton in a press release. In September 2022, the Tordoff study was cited by WPATH in the SOC 8 as evidence supporting the benefits of child sex-changes. Rosenthal was the co-investigator of a long-term National Institute of Health (NIH) study led by Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy on the mental health impacts of using puberty blockers as a treatment for gender dysphoria. Olson-Kennedy controversially withheld the results of the study, which showed puberty blockers did not improve mental health of gender-confused children, out of fear the data would be “weaponized,” according to reporting in October 2024 by The New York Times... Rosenthal explained to Deutsch in a November 2022 email that giving adolescents over age 14 puberty blockers as a monotherapy, meaning without additional sex hormones, put the bone health of teen patients at serious risk, emails show. “[SOC 8] also states there are not data to support use of GnRHa (as monotherapy) in someone older than 14 without posing a risk to bone health,” wrote Rosenthal. Rosenthal stated WPATH did not include a recommendation against the risky therapy in the SOC 8 because it “did not pass” the Delphi process, a method to establish scientific consensus used by WPATH to determine what was included in its clinical guidance. Under the Delphi process, WPATH members anonymously voted for proposed clinical recommendation statements, rating them on a scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 9 (strongly agree). Statements were included in the SOC 8 if at least 75% of voters rated the recommendation 7 or higher, according to WPATH’s website. WPATH’s use of the Delphi method was “deeply flawed,” Dr. Kurt Miceli, medical director of Do No Harm, told the DCNF. “WPATH’s use of the Delphi process to justify its guidelines on gender-affirming care is deeply flawed — not because of the method itself, but because of who was allowed to define ‘expertise,'” Miceli told the DCNF. “When a consensus is built among ideologically aligned individuals who ignore conflicting evidence, the result isn’t science—it’s dogma dressed up as clinical guidance,” Miceli added. A draft copy of an SOC 8 chapter on cross-sex hormone therapy for children and adults showed 12 0f the 21 proposed statements that passed the Delphi process were rated by WPATH as having a “low certainty of evidence,” according to documents from Boe v. Marshall released by Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall. Even Deutsch expressed doubts about the credibility of the Delphi process... Deutsch was concerned the lack of protocols when assessing gender-confused patients would be “opening up the tap” to “surgery on demand.” “Will a surgeon themself be able to do the assessment if they so deem themself as qualified to do so? The letter cited Prof Sullivan’s report on barriers to research on sex and gender published in July, which said that current university procedures were inadequate and called for an external accountability mechanism. A separate review published by Prof Sullivan in March and commissioned by the Government recommended that police forces and the NHS should collect data on biological sex rather than a person’s self-declared gender identity. She found that cancer referrals had been missed and previous convictions overlooked because biological sex was not being recorded. A spokesman for the University of Bristol denied that it had “failed to protect her freedom of speech”. “We refute claims that we failed to protect her freedom of speech; every action we took was in support of this and the restrictions she outlines were all necessary for public safety,” the spokesman said. “Our stance is clear – free speech must be lawful. There is no protection within the law for abusive speech that incites violence, harassment or discrimination."

Girl with suspected autism faces 12-match ban for asking transgender opponent: Are you a man? - "A girl footballer with suspected autism is facing a ban of up to 12 matches for asking an adult transgender opponent: “Are you a man?” In the latest case to raise major questions about the Football Association’s ongoing failure to ban those born male from the women’s game, the 17-year-old has been left distraught at being charged by her county FA over a remark made during a match against a trans-inclusive club. She was charged last month with saying, “Are you a man?”, “That’s a man”, “Don’t come here again”, or similar comments during what was a pre-season friendly back in July. In documents seen by Telegraph Sport, the girl admits asking a player she describes as having “a beard”, “Are you a man?” She also admits asking the referee for guidance about the player’s eligibility to participate in women’s football “given my concern for my safety after already suffering a number of overly physical challenges”. But she has denied doing so constituted transphobia or that she made any comments that could be construed as such, while Telegraph Sport understands the referee also heard nothing he deemed to be discriminatory. The girl was charged after the opposition club lodged a complaint via Kick It Out, English football’s anti-discrimination watchdog, which included testimony from the trans player and that team’s captain accusing her of persistent transphobia. It is a common trait of people with autism that they can struggle to recognise gender. In a written statement submitted in her defence, the girl said she had become “confused” about the participation of the trans player during the match in question due to the latter “wearing jewellery and sunglasses” and not being in opposition kit... “I raised a concern about the risk of serious injury as a 17-year-old girl playing against a biological male who was much larger than me and a very physical player, which was possibly a safety issue as I did not want to get dangerously injured right before the start of the new season. Despite this, I made it clear that if the player met the eligibility criteria of the FA I would respect the rules and accept the risk involved in continuing to play the match. My safeguarding officer and the referee were both present for this conversation.”... Also, until 2008, only 120 minors worldwide had been given puberty blockers for gender dysphoria. It wasn’t until 2013 to 2015 that GD cases shot up in children and adolescents and this medical field ballooned in the US. So doctors really only began getting significant experience treating these patients within about the past 11-13 years. Johanna Olson-Kennedy’s study has data on 8 years of treatment, but has only published data on the first 2 years. Wolfe also overlooks the glaring fact that there are grave professional penalties for expressing concerns about this medical field or expressing any statements that fall outside of the new orthodoxy. Byrne’s wife, evolutionaey biologist Carole Hooven, after all, was drummed out of Harvard for saying sex is binary. So there are many factors outside of insouciance that might contribute to the silence of which Byrne, an MIT philosopher, and Gorin, a Colorado State University bioethicist, speak.
