The cringe here outstrips even Mass Effect: Andromeda’s infamous “my face is tired” line—a 2017 flop so wooden it’s still mocked as a benchmark for bad writing. In Shadows, every line feels like it’s trying to win a Razzie, delivered with the enthusiasm of a bored DMV clerk.  It’s not just the dialogue, though—the game’s actions are pure nonsense, egregiously disrespectful, and straight out of a fanfiction writer’s fever dream.  Take Hattori Hanzo, Japan’s legendary ninja master—often dubbed the “godfather of ninja” for his strategic genius and leadership of the Iga clan in the 16th century. In Shadows, he’s reduced to a groveling servant after Naoe, armed with Mary Sue superpowers, beats him into submission and claims him as her lackey. Then there’s Oichi, sister to Oda Nobunaga and revered as a tragic maternal figure in Japanese history, known as the “mother of Japan” for her role in uniting warring clans through her children.  Here, she’s inexplicably thrust into a steamy, romantic fling with Yasuke—a plot twist so absurd it feels like a cheap script designed to trash Japan’s cultural legacy. These aren’t bold creative choices; they’re denigrating, juvenile fantasies that scream ignorance louder than Ubisoft’s PR team screams “innovation.”   It gets even worse. Rumors swirled that Ubisoft employees were furious when players in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey overwhelmingly picked male Alexios over female Kassandra—despite the team anointing Kassandra as the canon protagonist, a choice cemented in the novelization and DLC.  The same grumbling echoed with Valhalla, where male Eivor outshone the female version in player preference, even though Ubisoft pushed female Eivor as the “historical” default in marketing and lore tie-ins... this obsession with sidelining male characters feels like a bad joke taken to grotesque extremes. Every male counterpart, even the historical Oda Nobunaga—a towering warlord who unified Japan through ruthless brilliance—is relegated to cartoonishly evil, mind-numbingly stupid, or saddled with unlikable traits so absurd it’s as if the writing team forgot how to craft a decent male character.   The few “good” ones? They’re conveniently killed off or sacrifice themselves for self-inflicted blunders, leaving players rolling their eyes at the predictability... The writing here isn’t just bad—it’s a masterclass in lazy pandering, suffocating under Ubisoft’s toxic positivity and relentless diversity-box-checking. Every character devolves into an offensive stereotype unless they come from a certain privileged lineage, flattened by an obsession with “representation” that sacrifices depth for cheap optics.  Yasuke’s arc reeks of performative virtue, less a tribute to history and more a checkbox ticked by execs who think slapping a modern lens on a 16th-century figure equals depth. Meanwhile, the dialogue stumbles like a drunk toddler, every line a cringe-inducing cliche that screams “we care more about optics than storytelling.”... As of this writing on March 25, 2025, the Steam player numbers for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are dismal—peaking at a measly 64,825 concurrent players before flattening out like a day-old soda. The historical disrespect has nothing to do with Japanese audiences at all. Instead, the entire game was meant as an attack on American anime fans.
Anime fans in the US are perceived as right-wing. This is because since 2014, right-wing viewers flocked to anime to get away from the aggressive social messaging that a lot of American- and British-made popular culture was engaging in. They appreciated professional-grade entertainment that avoided the ideological strictness of Western creatives.  This provoked anger among left-leaning pop culture fans, as well as nearly all professional Western creatives of note (few of these are right-wing.) Their own products came to include a lot of anti-Right messages. You see small acts of sabotage such as bad translations of Japanese-made media, intended to spite this right-leaning crowd that they knew was watching. The entire Western video game industry was geared towards spite.  So when it came time for Ubisoft to make a game set in Japan, they had a golden opportunity to craft the biggest, most lavish middle finger to the right-leaning anime fandom that they could, since this fandom was also fascinated by Japan as a country.  But they were so enamored at sticking it to anime fans that they forgot Japan was not a fictional creation they can edit at will, but a real country with a real history.  Hence what you’re seeing now.

Since January 6, 2021, we've been fed round-the-clock hysteria about "domestic terrorism" from the Right.  This is what the kids like to call "gaslighting."  The truth is, since the 1960s, political violence has overwhelmingly been a product of the Left.  Make no mistake: This isn't just a few fringe radicals. Sure, they're the ones who are out there tossing Molotovs in the streets. But the entire institutional Left—from the media to the education system to the Democratic Party itself—colludes to encourage, justify and excuse it. In 1971, the Weather Underground—a far-left terrorist group—actually bombed the Capitol building, planting an explosive device in a ground-floor bathroom.  In 1983, another left-wing militant group called the Armed Resistance Unit detonated a bomb outside the Senate chamber. In 18 months from 1971-72, we had 2500 domestic bombings—more than 5 a day.  But most Americans don't remember this. Why? Because the Left controls the schools, the press, the whole system of organized culture—so it's been erased from our popular memory. We've seen the same thing with the Tesla attacks today. Most respectable voices on the Left won't go so far as to outright ENDORSE the violence, of course—but they'll distract, equivocate, and soft-peddle it.  Here's a textbook example of how that works:
Oh, they'll walk right up to the line—but always with just enough plausible deniability.  As deranged leftists open fire on Tesla dealerships, they'll post articles titled "Kill Tesla" with pictures of burning cars, and then claim that they were just talking about a boycott. But this is how the playbook always works. From the BLM riots, to the mob harassment of Supreme Court justices, to assassination attempts against Brett Kavanaugh and Donald Trump, the violent radical arm of the Left always gets the wink-and-a-nod from the "respectable" liberals. In a healthy political system, this lawlessness would be equally unacceptable to both sides. It would be good for America to have a Democratic Party that didn't encourage, excuse, and make common cause with violent leftists—let alone actively try to bail BLM rioters out of jail.
But that's not what we have. So we must respond to this new era of political violence with the full force of the law. The decades-long practice of coddling leftist terrorists has been a disaster for our country. It taught the Left that these tactics work.  That has to end."

Because the movement is judged favorably, these acts of political violence are rarely discussed. Yet, they played a crucial role in shaping the period — including contributing to the election of Richard Nixon. The Miami riots of 1980, the Los Angeles riots of 1992, the Cincinnati riots of 2001, and the Ferguson riots of 2014 show that it remains a recurring feature of American politics. The pattern is predictable: The media frames a justifying narrative, progressive activists coordinate the unrest, and political pressure ensures few, if any, perpetrators face consequences. The American left has long treated violence as a legitimate tool of persuasion — and expects to use it without accountability. After the mob violence of 2020, victorious Democrats shifted from their usual blend of soft power and plausible deniability to overt authoritarian tactics. The Biden administration directed the FBI to investigate parents protesting at school board meetings and Catholics attending Latin Mass. The Justice Department pushed for excessive sentences against January 6 protesters and even prosecuted a man for posting memes mocking Hillary Clinton.  Democrats also attempted to bankrupt Donald Trump, remove him from the ballot, and ultimately imprison him. When these efforts failed, they escalated their tactics, leading to multiple assassination attempts. Their political violence culminated in the injury of the soon-to-be president and the tragic death of firefighter Corey Comperatore, who died protecting others. Democrats have suffered defeat on every level. Their party’s approval ratings continue to decline, their policies repel voters, and they lost both the Electoral College and the popular vote in the last election. Frustrated and desperate, progressives have returned to their most reliable strategy: political violence.  Some conservatives dismiss the recent vandalism and destruction targeting Tesla as minor property crimes, but these incidents do not exist in a vacuum. They are part of a broader pattern of escalating violence from a movement that refuses to accept political losses. The left has already embraced and celebrated political assassination over the past year. Many celebrities and political commentators openly voiced frustration that an assassin’s bullet narrowly missed killing Donald Trump on live television. Meanwhile, an entire subculture of admirers has formed around Luigi Mangione, who allegedly assassinated the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. Progressives, consumed by desperation and rage, are lashing out at anyone and anything they perceive as political opposition.  Political violence in the United States must be met with zero tolerance. For too long, the left has enjoyed the ability to use violence as a political tool, relying on its media monopoly to shield perpetrators from legal and political consequences. Progressives have already escalated their tactics to assassination, successfully killing multiple victims. The Trump administration must not dismiss the attacks on Tesla as petty acts of vandalism. These are warning signs of more serious domestic terrorism to come. Federal law enforcement must act swiftly. If any leftist organization played a role in planning or facilitating these attacks, it should be treated as a domestic terror threat. Authorities must act decisively against violent extremists now — or risk emboldening them to commit even worse crimes in the future."

1. One of the speakers is a federal employee who belongs to the American Federation of Government Employees Union.  For that that don’t remember, they are one of the six groups that teamed up on December 19, 2024, to take down Trump. Marc Elias launched Civil Service Strong. The press release calls the firm a coalition of civil society institutions and organizations, including 2.2 million federal government civil servants.  She spoke on the call to rally protesters all across the country to make their voices heard.  So I just connected Indivisible with Civil Service Strong because it’s all tied together. One of the most interesting parts of this one hour call was that Jasmine Crockett came on to speak because clearly she is part of this entire takedown Elon Musk apparatus.  A sitting member of Congress is working with Indivisible to take down an American car company and destroy its owner.
This was my favorite speaker, the independent journalist and hacker who tells us the entire point of these organized protests are to tank Tesla stock.  Not a lawyer but this seems illegal to me.

The Failure of Starship Troopers The Movie as Anti-Fascist

Verhoeven did *intend* to make a movie that said "war makes fascists of us all" but he failed on every level because he doesn't understand fascism, war or how propaganda works.  

First, his film *forces* the audience to side with the Aryan-vibey, attractive youths against the mindless, hideous, alien bugs. The morally unambiguous, gore-filled spectacle is guilt-free and even Verhoeven's portrayal of military propaganda is more slapstick than surreal. 

The film doesn't subvert anything, at no point *during the watching* does one see the jingoism on display as excessive. No one feels bad for reveling in the slaughter of a genocidal, interplanetary swarm of vile insects. There's no moment where we see the bugs are "just like us" 

The "Mormon extremists" who illegally settled on a bug-controlled planet were intruding onto a bug *colony* that the bugs had *colonized*, the bugs are *colonizers*, ones that consume and eradicate the entire biosphere, not even for capitalism, but out of blind instinct. 

Second, the "fascist" elements are all surface level, the United Citizen Federation is a post-modern, neoliberal, limited democracy, it lacks a charismatic dictator, there's a council, merit-based citizenship, no racial or ethnic supremacy, no sign of rigid ideological extremism. 

Everyone is motivated by pragmatism, loyalty is secured through participation. They serve for civic duty, due to existential threat, or access to political combat (citizenship).

This explains the silly newsreels, as in such a system, there is little need for advanced propaganda 

Within the newsreel, this scene is played for laughs. Libtards hallucinate that this means there were child soldiers. The criticism that fascism = "propaganda that targets children" is equally incoherent.

I'm just going to share some easily searchable images here. 

The most basic metric for a functioning society is that it readies men to fight for and protect it. This is so deeply rooted that studies have found the understanding of war developmentally precedes that of peace by several years. Even then, peace is understood as absence of war.

Verhoeven unwittingly agrees. ST shows that social injustices such as oppression based on race, gender or class can be erased *through* the glorification of militaristic virtues. All who serve can become a citizen, and at no point does he show non-citizens being abused. 

The film depicts Johnny Rico's parents living comfortably as non-citizens, thriving economically and socially, even without political power. Rico's father views service as dangerous and unnecessary, showing the jingoistic yet generic propaganda has *failed* to colonize his mind. 

Verhoeven's main divergence from the source materials were these ham-fisted newsreels and they are the only component that *might* alienate the viewer from the Federation's cause, but, because they mostly exist in their own slapstick continuum, this never happens. 

Verhoeven has an angry norwooder say "The only good bug is a dead bug." Everyone watching agreed. This sentiment is now famous and lives forever in memes, recently resurging with the release of Helldivers II. Every single tactic Verhoeven tried failed. 

One of the most common, cheapest methods to get an audience to sympathize with *anything* is have a young, pretty woman cry for it. People instinctively accept the reactions of attractive people as their own, yet Verhoeven goes the opposite direction, having the actress retch. 

It's meant to be the future, but we see nothing nearly as sophisticated as Triumph of the Will, let alone the the OWI Bureau of Motion Pictures teaming up with Hollywood during WW2. This guy is supposed to be psychic, has this power been weaponized for propaganda? Apparently not 

Verhoeven is definitely unaware that one of the reasons the Allies won WW2 was that our propaganda was more insidious and sophisticated.

This is as far as the newsreels go toward "vilifying" bugs- children stomping them, a normal behavior that requires zero conditioning 

One newsreel shows children playing with guns with parental oversight. Verhoeven is assuming the audience has grown up in a coastal city and such a "bizarre" scene will make them uneasy. For the entire rest of the world, it's just a slapstick version of a very mundane experience 

At no point does he show a character being conditioned or having their critical faculties overwhelmed, the only emoting we see is the expected horror to the asteroid attack on Buenos Aires, and a reaction to a generic morale-boosting recruitment ad *after* they are in training. 

Rico is not convinced by Verhoeven's newsreels but by the teacher's speech. The teacher cites history, his experience and exhibits a sense of civic pride. There's no indication any of this is derived from a falsified history or brainwashing, the teacher's arguments are sound. 

Rico's comment in the dissection scene "They're just bugs" foreshadows the horrific carnage of bug warfare, but it also stands as yet another unintended explanation for the lack of that most problematic type of "fascist" propaganda, the demonizing or "dehumanizing" of the enemy 

There's no need for it, *just show the bugs*, and here is where Starship Troopers as even aesthetically fascistic falls apart. Almost all post-WW2 anti-fascist conditioning centers around the image of the misjudged Jew or minority, yet Verhoeven doesn't seem to understand this  

He understands "war = fascism" he literally said this in a DVD commentary- "War makes fascists of us all."

By this definition, every tribe, race, nation, troop of chimpanzees, the state of Israel, the U.N. and the human species itself is fascist, rendering the word meaningless. 

 

This demonstrates, by itself, that the "deeper meaning" of Starship Troopers is that Paul Verhoeven does not know the meanings of words, especially "war" and "fascism," but knows how to make stuff look cool, and might be developmentally disabled. 

 

This is the *perfect* kind of guy for directing your 80s-90s style action movie. You get maybe a superficial gesture of deeper meaning, but the "rule of cool," and the crude sensibilities of a ten year old boy are driving the project.  

This thread is an argument for bringing back the Paul Verhoeven-type Hollywood libtard. The non-dysgenic, manchild that can't help but make pro-fascist films because they like cool stuff.

Verhoeven represents the ideal amount of dumb degeneracy needed to make good action sci fi 

This is the best proof that Verhoeven failed to counter the spirit of Heinlein, who wrote Starship Troopers in a fit of rage at nuclear disarmament.

The remake is happening because libs have been totally defeated in the "media literacy" discourse.

They don't need state-funded rape crisis centres, nor do they ever frequent high street changing rooms. They simper from talk show sofas about those nasty far-right bigots who don't want penises swinging around the girls' showers, secure in the knowledge that their private pool remains the safe place it always was.  Those who've benefited most from gender identity ideology are men, both trans-identified and not. Some have been rewarded for having a cross-dressing kink by access to all spaces previously reserved for women. Others have parlayed their delicious new victim status into an excuse to threaten, assault and harass women. Non-trans-identified leftybros have found a magnificent platform from which to display their own impeccably progressive credentials, by jeering and sneering at the needs of women and girls, all while patting themselves on the back for giving away rights that aren't theirs.  The actual victims in this mess have been women and children, especially the most vulnerable, gay people who've resisted the movement and paid a horrible price, and regular people working in environments where one misplaced pronoun could see you vilified or constructively dismissed. Do not tell me this is about a tiny minority. This movement has impacted society in disastrous ways, and if you had any sense, you'd be quietly deleting every trace of activist mantras, ad hominem attacks, false equivalence and circular arguments from your X feeds, because the day is fast approaching when you'll want to pretend you always saw through the craziness and never believed it for a second."

Laura is a tall woman (6'4 or so), so in the heels, she is very visible, and this is what had brought on my current issue. Recently he had a breakdown over it and told me that it was so bad he didn't even want to go to school anymore and that everyone knew him as the "drag queen's son." I tried to talk 'about this privately with Laura, but she gave me the cold shoulder over the phone. My son asked me to come out with him to the next meeting so we could bring it up together there. The moment she walked in, all eyes were on us because of what she was wearing. People were obviously listening, and when I gently tried to bring up the topic and explain how our son was feeling, Laura became incredibly loud and angry over it and accused me of feeding my son lines because I was jealous of her confidence. To make matters worse, a table of nearby girls decided to join in and hurl abuse at me and tell me that I was a piece of s for saying what I was. My son and I left in tears, but Laura did not seem to give a single care about how distraught he was and seemed to just be loving all the attention. Ever since then I've been torn, wondering if my own personal feelings are getting in the way of things and if I was a bad person for asking Laura to tone things down, especially given she felt she had to repress herself for so many years. I'm extremely shaken by having a group of complete strangers step in and wonder if Ive gotten old and out of touch. It just breaks my heart to see my son becoming so withdrawn and upset over this. But development does not wait. Delaying puberty isolates young people from their peers, severing them from the shared struggles that shape adolescence.  When adults sanction the delay of secondary sex characteristics, they risk undermining a young person’s capacity to cope. The implicit message is: You’re afraid you can’t handle puberty, we agree—you don’t have the resources to manage the identity confusion & uncertainty that accompany the transition from childhood to adulthood. By stopping puberty, medics offer the concrete medical solution these children yearn for—while simultaneously signalling that even adults lack confidence in their ability to find the internal resources to manage. We are also stopping a part of the developmental process that brought them into existence.  This was Dominiqo’s original idea—puberty blockers as a ‘pause for thought’ for adolescents who weren’t ready for puberty. What he didn’t realize was that this approach endorsed an omnipotent belief: that individuals can control the anxiety that comes with developmental change. And that sort of manic psychological defence is difficult to resist—or relinquish.  The GIDS study confirms this. It’s like standing outside a drug rehabilitation service and saying Today, we’re offering psychological support over here, or you can get opium over there. Faced with that choice, the kids didn’t pause puberty and then return to a natural developmental pathway. They continued down the medical route. 95% moved from the allure of puberty blockers to the allure of cross-sex hormones.  And I agree with the article—the consequences won’t be evident in two years, when individuals may still be caught in the euphoria of having seemingly triumphed over their biological development. The real reckoning will come in twenty years, after prolonged use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical interventions. That’s when we’ll see the full impact of this live experiment.  The greatest mental health scandal of our generation is about to be reopened. Instead of addressing psychological distress at its root, we are interfering with normal developmental processes. Having led the world in putting the lid back on Pandora’s box, we are about to open it again. A tragic display of hubris.  Like the lobotomies of the 1950s, future generations will look back in disbelief, asking: What were they thinking? But it won’t be the researchers and their cheerleaders who are left to pick up the pieces of fractured families and individuals who have lost the developmental opportunities that come with the challenges of puberty. That burden will fall on the next generation of psychotherapists, psychiatrists, and psychologists.  And before anyone starts searching for that mythical figure, the true trans child, let’s be clear: there is only one thing with less prognostic reliability than an adult mental health diagnosis—a mental health diagnosis in children. Psychiatry isn’t like medicine. There is no schizococcus—no biological test to confirm a condition. There are only clusters of symptoms and illness behaviour.   After 46 years in psychiatry, I’ve seen every form of delusional thinking & manic denial employed by the profession. The amount spent on transgender treatments is close to what it would cost to supply all 1,000 women in England and Wales who would benefit from Enhertu, a drug that would give women with advanced breast cancer an extra six months of life.  Because it costs about £118,000 per patient, it was turned down by the NHS last year for being too expensive.  The £250 million figure for transgender treatments over the past five years is likely to be much higher because for the first three years of the data, surgical interventions are excluded... Fiona McAnena, director of campaigns at human rights charity Sex Matters, said: '£250 million is an obscene amount for the NHS to spend on experimental and often dangerous surgeries for people who want to look more like the opposite sex.'  Stephanie Davies-Arai, of Transgender Trend, added: 'NHS England's job is to treat medical problems yet they are creating medical problems where none previously existed. To spend so much on damaging people's bodies for no evidenced reason is unacceptable and in the case of children unconscionable.'...
