‘Sparks Fly’ On ‘The View’ After Whoopi Goldberg Claims The Holocaust Was ‘Not About Race’ - "Tensions rose on ABC’s “The View” after regular host Whoopi Goldberg claimed during Monday’s broadcast that the Holocaust was “not about race.”... “Maybe. This is white people doing it to white people. Y’all go fight amongst yourselves”... “If we’re going to do this, let’s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race. No. It’s not about race,” Goldberg said. “They considered Jews a different race,” Joy Behar pushed back. “It’s not about race. It’s not about race,” Goldberg insisted. “What is it about?” Behar asked. “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about,” Goldberg replied. “But it’s about white supremacy,” Navarro objected. “It’s about going after Jews and gypsies —” “But it’s not about —” Goldberg interrupted. “These are two white groups of people. How do we —” “They came after black people too,” Behar pointed out, noting that the Nazis had not considered Jews to be “white” either. “But you’re missing the point. You’re missing the point. The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley,” Goldberg was insistent. “Let’s talk about it for what it is. It’s how people treat each other. It’s a problem. It doesn’t matter if you are black or white because black, white, Jews, Italians, everybody eats each other. So is it — if you are uncomfortable if you hear about ‘Maus,’ should you be worried — should your child say, ‘Oh my God, I wonder if that’s me? No. That’s not what they’re going to say. They’re going to say, ‘I don’t want to be like that.'”"
Cernovich on Twitter - "No one - even fake outraged conservatives - is noting that Whoopi said she wouldn’t care if white people died in the Holocaust. The entire framing of her comments, which she repeated on Colbert, is she doesn’t care if it happens to white people."
So many people accused him of lying. But they missed the bit where she said: "It's about the Holocaust. The killing of 6 million people... This is white people doing it to white people. So, and this is, y'all go fight amongst yourselves"
‘Liberal Privilege Is Real’: Disney-Fired Gina Carano Trends After News Of Whoopi Suspension By Disney-Owned ABC - "“Gina Carano was fired by Disney, which owns ABC over an Instagram post comparing inhumane restrictions and dehumanization to the Nazis’ treatment of Jews,” posted Ian Miles Cheong. “Whoopi Goldberg got a two week vacation from ABC for minimizing the Holocaust as ‘y’all whites against whites.'” “Also, [Gina Carano] is a beautiful, radiant, and lovely person, and [Whoopi Goldberg] is a bitter hateful racist cow,” wrote award-winning actor Nick Searcy. “It makes perfect sense that the Democrat media would fire Gina and keep Whoopi.”... “Why is it that Rosanne [Barr] (a Jewish woman) gets canceled for off color remarks but Whoopi’s gets a total pass for antisemitism and downplaying the Holocaust?” questioned Donald Trump Jr. “I can’t help but notice that only people on the right face consequences for their mistakes.”"
Kat Rosenfield on Twitter - "the two-week cooldown period in which a controversial person is suspended purely for PR purposes will hereafter be known as a “Whoopi cushion”"
Whoopi Goldberg threatening to quit 'The View': source - "As news of the suspension rippled through the network, it angered not only Goldberg but also her co-hosts on the daytime talk show. “I love Whoopi Goldberg. I love ‘The View,’” Ana Navarro told the Daily Beast on Tuesday evening. “This was an incredibly unfortunate incident. Whoopi is a lifelong ally to the Jewish community. She is not an anti-Semite, period. I am sad. And I have nothing else to say.”"
Grace Curley on Twitter - "Will The View have "content warnings"? Or is "misinformation" only harmful when Joe Rogan is to blame?"
CCG BRYSON on Twitter - "They cancelled whoopi Goldberg during black history month…Sheeeshh cold world"
A 2 week suspension of a leftist = "cancellation"
During Black History Month blacks get free passes?
Drop the Goldberg name you co-opted, Whoopi -- you don't deserve it - "Decades ago, when the performer Caryn Johnson decided her name wasn’t interesting enough and dubbed herself Whoopi Goldberg instead, it wasn’t because Goldberg signified “whiteness.” Through the years, she’s offered many weird and contradictory explanations for her change in moniker, but it might have seemed at the time that a black person sporting the surname Goldberg would be especially eye-catching and noteworthy (especially in conjunction with that wild first name) because it would represent the proud ownership of her outsider status. She wasn’t trying to blend in. She was doubling down — on race. Note, please, that Caryn Johnson didn’t become Whoopi Rockefeller. No. She knew that by becoming Whoopi Goldberg, she would be choosing to flaunt in every way possible the fact that she was a minority person in a majority-white country. The “Goldberg” was the cherry on top. You see, in the early 1980s, when Johnson became Goldberg, it was still commonly understood that Jews were a people apart... Forget that Hitler called the Germans a “master race” and that according to classic Nazi doctrine, Jews constituted a “subhuman Asiatic race.” You see, Whoopi told Stephen Colbert as she tried to clean up the mess she had made early in the day, “I think of race as being something I can see.” That’s nice that she thinks about it that way. But it’s monumentally ignorant, stupid and almost jaw-droppingly offensive. Six million people literally died because that wasn’t how the people who killed them thought about race. And as for the “something Whoopi can see” doctrine, let’s remember that Hitler’s goal was the extermination of all Jews on the planet — and then as now, there are millions of Sephardic Jews with skin hues that would not classify them as “white.” Even Whoopi wouldn’t “see” them that way... Ascribing commonalities between Jews and non-Jews is historically nonsensical, considering that Jews make up an astonishingly homogeneous and tiny tribe of people who survived nearly two millennia on this Earth without a homeland to call their own. That was understood when Johnson became Goldberg. But it’s two generations since then. It’s obvious that a 2022 version of young Caryn Johnson would not choose the name Goldberg to gain that extra frisson of non-white pride. In fact, Whoopi Goldberg should just drop the Goldberg now. There are dozens of survivors of the Holocaust who bear the name — and an untold number who died in the Shoah with it. Caryn Johnson stains them both."
Cultural appropriation is good when blacks do it
Cernovich on Twitter - "Whoopi Goldberg isn’t anti semitic, she just doesn’t care about any group other than the one she prioritizes. That’s how identity politics works."
Darrell B. Harrison on Twitter - "How the Rooney Rule works: 1. Hire the black guy because . . . black. 2. Don't fire the black guy because . . . black."
Mika Brzezinski on Whoopi Goldberg: 'This Cancel Culture Is Getting so Out of Hand' - "MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski on Wednesday reacted to Whoopi Goldberg’s suspension from “The View” over her controversial remarks regarding the Holocaust... Brzezinski lamented that cancel culture has gotten “so out of hand” and suggested Goldberg’s suspension “seems more about something else.”"
Weird. I thought cancel culture didn't exist and it was accountability culture.
Strange that people the left approve of have no accountability for whatever they say today, but people they disapprove of are accountable for anything that can be distorted, even if it was from decades ago
Tim Dillon on Twitter - "UPDATE: Multiple sources tell The Daily Beast that Whoopi Goldberg’s co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and Ana Navarro are furious with the network’s decision"
"It’s hilarious that all these women do all day is call for people to get deplatformed and censored and then finally one of their own gets benched for two weeks and they’re mad."

ADL Modifies Definition of What It Means to Be Racist - "The Anti-Defamation League has broadened its definition of what it means to be racist in response to criticism that its earlier description was too narrow. Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the New York-based civil rights group, announced the change Wednesday in an essay posted online titled, "Getting it Right in Defining Racism." He explained that the ADL, founded in 1913, began reconsidering an earlier definition of racism in response to recent criticism that its description was too centered on white privilege and excluded other experiences. The ADL's update comes after actress Whoopi Goldberg brought the topic to the forefront after saying on Monday that the Holocaust was not about race. Greenblatt and others swiftly took to Twitter to condemn Goldberg's remarks, but the ADL soon had its own blowback to deal with. "I agree. But the ADL's new definition of racism isn't helping," Christina Sommers, senior fellow at the right-leaning American Enterprise Institute, replied on Twitter. The ADL had revised its definition of racism during the summer of 2020, according to internet archives. At the time, the U.S. was seeing waves of racial justice protests. In response, the ADL defined racism as: "The marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people."... Previously, the ADL had defined racism as "the belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person's social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics." In recent days, others took note of the newer definition centered on white privilege. "Not only was the original one correct, the new one both excludes even the Nazis' racial antisemitism, and, among other absurdities, means that not a single one of the 1.3 billion or so Han Chinese living in China is a racist," David Bernstein, George Mason University School of Law professor said on Twitter. Hussain Abdul-Hussain, research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said on Twitter that the ADL had changed its definition of racism from "classic" to "more popular," which he said was indicative of "mob rule." Greenblatt, who has since made peace with Goldberg, said in his essay on Wednesday that "we certainly don't always get it right." He explained that the ADL updated its definition to reflect the explicit targeting of people of color and others "by the white supremacist extremism we have tracked for decades."... The ADL's updated definition now reads: "Racism occurs when individuals or institutions show more favorable evaluation or treatment of an individual or group based on race or ethnicity." The definition was developed by Professor Robert Livingston of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University. The definition will serve as an "interim definition" while the ADL gets feedback on how to have a better description."
