Church Meme Committee - Posts - "Until [a baby] comes out of a man's body an opinion on abortion shouldn't come out of his mouth."
"Great idea! So, I say, until you own a plantation an opinion on slavery shouldn't come out of your mouth! Paraphrase, compromise proposal [24 December 1860]"
"You can't support life in the uterus, if you don't support life outside the uterus."
"Christians adopt at twice the rate of non-Christians, do most foster care, donate to help the poor at much higher rates, and volunteer millions of hours!"
Or, if you don't own a gun you don't get to talk about gun laws. And even if you own a gun, you can only decide what happens to your own gun - not others'
Of course, the moment a woman has an opinion on abortion that's not pro-choice, she gets told she has no right to comment on other women's bodies, so so much for this excuse

Virginia Democrat Admits She 'Did Not Read' Extreme Abortion Bill She Co-Sponsored - "After co-sponsoring an extreme abortion bill that allows abortion up until a child's birth, and amid massive backlash to "moderate" Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam's defense of letting a born-alive infant die, Virginia Delegate Dawn Adams (Richmond) sent a letter to her constituents Wednesday night apologizing for supporting the bill and explaining that she "did not read" the bill before co-sponsoring it... 'I vaguely remember signing on to this, and I did this in solidarity with my colleague and as a symbolic gesture for a woman’s right to choose'... The bill made national news on Tuesday after video of Del. Tran defending its extremist positions on the floor of the Virginia State House went viral. In an exchange with Republican House Majority Leader Todd Gilbert (Shenandoah), Tran admitted that the bill would allow a woman to abort her child even as she is "about to give birth" in order to protect her "mental health.""
Amusingly some people are still spreading the fake news that late term abortion would only be allowed to save the mother's life

Doe v. Bolton - Health Includes Physical, Emotional, And Psychological Well-being - Abortion, Court, Georgia, and Woman - "Doe v. Bolton was the companion case to Roe v. Wade (1973), the landmark case in which the Court ruled that the Fourteenth Amendment provided a fundamental right for women to obtain abortions... The Court responded that "medical judgment may be exercised in the light of all factors--physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman's age--relevant to the well-being of the patient. All these factors may relate to health.""
In other words, the proposal was to allow late term abortion for any reason whatsoever. In the UK (excluding Northern Ireland), the 1967 abortion act similarly only allows abortion for "health" reasons - and we know abortions are not hard to come by there

Josh Jordan on Twitter - "Partial birth abortion has historically been opposed by 80%+ of the country. Gallup did not poll about letting a newborn die on the table after being delivered as discussed by Gov Northam in Virginia today, because that's beyond abhorrent."

Who Seeks Abortions at or After 20 Weeks? - "Most women seeking later abortion fit at least one of five profiles: They were raising children alone, were depressed or using illicit substances, were in conflict with a male partner or experiencing domestic violence, had trouble deciding and then had access problems, or were young and nulliparous... data suggest that most women seeking later terminations are not doing so for reasons of fetal anomaly or life endangerment"
So much for late abortions only being sought for health reasons
Of course, there's also this amazing logic: late term abortions are rare, so we should make them easier (apparently their being hard being linked to their being rare is not a possibility)

Addendum: This is from the Guttmacher Institute and is published in Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health.
More bits: "In contemporary discussions of later abortion, few empirical data exist about the women who seek these procedures, but speculation abounds, including the presumption that these women are intrinsically different from those seeking early abortions. Despite this common narrative, women in our study who obtained first‐trimester abortions and women who obtained abortions at or after 20 weeks’ gestation were remarkably similar. Demographically, the only significant differences between the two groups were in age (women aged 20–24 were more likely than women aged 25–34 to seek later abortion) and in employment status (employed women were less likely than unemployed women to have later abortions). Participants’ reports of their experiences of deciding to obtain an abortion and of accessing care further show similarities that run counter to the popular narrative of difference between these two groups. Indeed, three reasons for delay we identified—the woman's not knowing she was pregnant, having trouble deciding whether she wanted an abortion and disagreeing with the man involved in the pregnancy on the abortion decision—were equally common among early and later abortion seekers."

Virginia Abortion Bill: Ralph Northam Defends Infanticide - "In just a few years pro-abortion zealots went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to ‘keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide.’"

OB/GYNs, Nurses Speak Out Against NY Abortion Law: It Is Never Necessary to Kill Baby for Health, Life of Mother - "“I want to clear something up so that there is absolutely no doubt,” Dr. Omar Hamada of Tennessee, who outlined that he has delivered more than 2,500 babies, wrote on social media on Wednesday. “There’s not a single fetal or maternal condition that requires third trimester abortion. Not one. Delivery, yes. Abortion, no. There is absolutely no medical reason to kill a near term or term infant. For any reason.” “If there’s a problem—and there are problems in the third trimester, both with the babies and with the mom that require delivery—just deliver the baby. We don’t have to kill it”... Dr. David McKnight, also of Tennessee, likewise said that if a concern arises, the baby is simply delivered via C-section. There is no need to kill the child to save the mother.“As a board-certified practicing OB/GYN physician for over 30 years, I need to say publicly and unequivocally, that there is NEVER a medical reason to kill a baby at term,” he remarked. “When complications of pregnancy endanger a mother’s life, we sometimes must deliver the baby early, but it is ALWAYS with the intent of doing whatever we can to do it safely for the baby too. The decision to kill an unborn baby at term is purely for convenience. It is murder.”... former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop once stated the same information as the medical professionals who have spoken out over the past week—that the life or health of the mother is never a reason for an abortion as doctors will simply deliver the baby in order to save both lives."

Former Abortion Doctor Counters Progressive Narrative: ‘You Never Need Late-Term Abortion To Save A Woman’s Life’ - "'I was faculty at the hospital for nine years, and I saw hundreds of cases of really severe pregnancy complications – cancers, heart disease, intractable diabetes ... toxemia pregnancy, out of control. In those nine years, I saved hundreds of women from life-threatening pregnancies, and I did that by delivering them, by ending their pregnancy by delivery – either induction of labor or cesarean section'... prior to a late-term abortion, the cervix must be sufficiently dilated in order for the doctor to be able to properly extract the dismembered fetus from the uterus. The dilation process "can take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours," according to Levatino, who performed more than 1,200 abortions in his career. Many women experiencing major pregnancy complications don’t have that much time."

'A Border Wall Is Immoral,' Says Political Party Advocating For Infanticide | The Babylon Bee

New York and Virginia Push to Expand Abortion Rights - "To argue for abortion on the grounds of fetal abnormality amounts to defending the selective killing of human beings with disabilities or terminal illnesses; whether these abortions stem from callousness or misplaced compassion makes little difference to the life at stake. It is unsurprising that abortions this late in pregnancy are vastly unpopular with the American public. Gallup polling from 2018 found that only 13 percent of Americans favor making third-trimester abortions “generally” legal, and only 18 percent of Democrats shared that position. Women reject late-term abortion at an even higher rate than men. A Marist survey from earlier this year found that 75 percent of Americans would limit abortion to, at most, the first three months of pregnancy, and majorities of Democrats and those who describe themselves as pro-choice agreed. By defending more expansive abortion rights even in the face of these facts, Democrats are exposing an uncomfortable reality that they would rather not acknowledge: They embrace abortion as a woman’s right to end the life of her fetus at any stage—not the right to end her pregnancy. At 24 weeks, and now even as early as 21 weeks, newborn infants have survived outside the womb with the help of neonatal intensive care... This is why the abortion-rights movement has long relied upon euphemisms to obscure the unpleasant truth about the right they advocate. Phrases like women’s rights, the right to choose, and reproductive freedom dominate their advocacy, along with dismissive jargon like clumps of cells... But in defending bills that expand the right to abort viable fetuses, Democrats are giving away the game. Most people, even those who favor some abortion access, instinctively recoil from what they see. These late-term abortion bills do more than reveal Democratic radicalism. They draw back the veil of euphemism to expose abortion for what it is: At every stage of pregnancy, it is the taking of a human life. For the anti-abortion movement, it is a pivotal moment to insist upon that truth."

Planned Parenthood Head Bashes Trump Over Anti-Infanticide Tweet: 'As A Mother...I Am Disgusted' - "Planned Parenthood President Leana Wen was apparently "disgusted" by President Trump's tweet, not that born-alive babies might be left to die, which according to Wen, doesn’t happen. (It does.) And to muck up matters further, Wen curiously invoked her status as a mother of a one-year-old to underscore her outrage at Trump... There are botched abortions where babies survive, according to the Center for Disease Control. Moreover, undercover video footage has captured abortion workers talking about such instances... The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act amends the criminal code to "prohibit a health care practitioner from failing to exercise the proper degree of care in the case of a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion."

The Atlantic - Posts - "Democrats Overplay Their Hand on Abortion"
Comments: " Read something with which you disagree and you have to run away? Wow, soft... Atlantic = safe space"
"People in these comments are so mad that The Atlantic isn't a left wing echo chamber like most of the other major news outlets and actually tries to give different perspectives."
"I don’t even read many of the articles anymore. I just look at the headlines and then dive into the Comments section to see the red-faced, “thoughtful” Atlantic readers go into meltdown mode."
"Everybody wants to boycott the Atlantic for this one conservative article. If I could sit through the hyper-liberal bullshit of fashion being inherently misogynistic and sexual consent requiring e-signatures, you folks can survive one pro-life article among the dozens of pro-choice. Y’all just fleeing the battlefield, my friends."
"Is the Atlantic Facebook comment section officially nothing but Russian trolls or are you real people who cannot handle diverse opinions?"
"People expressing outrage towards the Atlantic make the unfortunate assumption that it exists to promote a particular agenda. Wherever one stands on the abortion question, it is clearly one with two sides. I for one disagree with DeSanctis’ treatment of the underlying issue of abortion. But his political calculation is worthy of grown up reflection."
"Your second hand, anecdotal examples count. My first hand life experience with a high risk pregnancy doesn’t. But for argument’s sake, of course my pregnancy does not speak for all, but it dismisses the typical liberal tropes used in its defense. And you know absolutely nothing about my pregnancy besides what I mentioned. A doctor’s error in addressing a serious infection after delivery led me to sepsis and almost cost me my life. So thank you for lecturing me about my “privilege” when most of you have had the true privilege of not going through any of these difficult circumstances. That’s quite the audacious claim, along with unbelievably hypocritical. But I do hope you never have to go through those experiences. You find women who talk about their abortions inspiring and brave but have you ever asked yourself why?"

Exercise of Public Health Powers in Cases of Infectious Disease: Human Rights Implications - "Most European states have statutory powers enabling a range of compulsory interventions, from compulsory vaccination to the compulsory medical examination, compulsory quarantine and compulsory isolation or detention of infected persons"
Clearly, the right to bodily autonomy doesn't mean one can harm others

Legal briefing: coerced treatment and involuntary confinement for contagious disease. - "1. Most Public Health Confinement Is Voluntary 2. Legal Requirements for Involuntary Confinement 3. New State Laws Authorizing Involuntary Confinement 4. Quarantine Must Be as Least Restrictive as Necessary 5. Isolation Is Justified Only as a Last Resort 6. Coerced Treatment after Persistent Noncompliance."
