Melissa Chen on X - "Every time I hear the debate between English identity and multiculturalism, I’m deeply confused. Multiculturalism essentially means that “Englishness” is an empty vessel in which cultures live together, that the vessel of being a country is neutral and empty of content. There’s been an elite project in Britain, America and Canada and generally in the English speaking world, to empty identity of distinctiveness and culture and into that empty vessel, pour any old random thing. Literally any old idea unexamined.   And so you now have in Britain, a very small minority of radical islamists. They are tiny. Most muslims are not radical.   They are tiny, and yet they can run your streets because everybody else is an empty vessel. You look at that idea and you say that’s not me, that’s not us, and you spit it out.  But if you don’t know what me and us is, you can’t look at an idea and say that’s not us.  One of the most precious things you could give your children is a thousand years of culture. It’s who you are and who you have been.  Now I’m an Israeli Jew who firmly believes a nation can be multiracial but I’m worried about multicultural. Because culture is the single most important decider of human behavior. It’s the single most important thing to have in a cohesive country.  To Westerners who have been trained by generations of elites to not know who you are because of a misunderstanding of what happened in the 20th century, because of a misunderstanding of where colonialism and WWII comes from, as thinking too much about your own culture, or thinking your culture is too good, is what caused the Holocaust, you need to step back.   “Germaness” is not what caused the Holocaust   - @havivrettiggur  nails it. Every word of this"
Drew Pavlou πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ό on X - "Israeli Jewish commentator Haviv Rettig Gur argues that Western elites misinterpreted the Holocaust to mean that any strong national identity is dangerous, and this has hollowed out Western culture to the point where even a tiny minority of radical Islamists can exert disproportionate influence in societies that no longer know who they are."

Massimo on X - "Experts now consider strength training the single most potent habit for aging gracefully and extending lifespan.  Far from being just for athletes or bodybuilders, lifting weights—or any form of resistance exercise, including body-weight moves—has emerged as one of the most powerful tools for healthy aging. It does far more than add muscle: it fortifies bones, revs up metabolism, and sharply lowers the odds of diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions.  As we get older, strength training switches on bone-forming cells, fights the natural loss of muscle mass known as sarcopenia, and keeps metabolism humming efficiently. For women, it’s especially valuable, helping offset the rapid bone-density decline triggered by menopause.  The benefits extend well beyond the physical. Regular resistance work improves balance and coordination, dramatically cutting the risk of falls—the top cause of injury among older adults. It also protects the brain by enhancing insulin sensitivity, dialing down inflammation, and reducing dementia risk.  The good news? You don’t need heavy barbells or punishing workouts. Even moderate, consistent strength training delivers profound gains in both quality of life and longevity. In the words of one leading researcher, “Building and maintaining muscle may be the single best investment you can make in your future health and independence.”"
ZUBY: on X - "'Gym bros' have been saying this for 50+ years. Look at how long it takes for 'experts' to catch up."

Thread by @ZubyMusic on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "Western 'progressives' are mostly idiots who refuse to understand very basic concepts. I'm tired of mincing my words and giving them the benefit of the doubt.  Their stupidity is dangerous and it's increasingly putting people at risk. From 'men can be women' to 'borders are racist' to 'prisons don't reduce crime' to 'everyone I disagree with is a Nazi' and more...  These ideas aren't just stupid... When they become policy, they get people hurt, including women and children.  Idiots at best. Wicked at worst."

Cash-strapped council spends £1,500 on LGBT bin carts - "A waste company owned by a debt-ridden Green-run council has spent £1,500 decorating street sweeper vehicles and bin carts with the trans-inclusive Pride flag.  The Bristol Waste Company, which is owned by the city council, added the livery for the Pride festivities earlier this year, however critics said civic chiefs should be focusing on spending money that “prioritises local needs”... Bristol city council announced it would be faced with a £117m budget shortfall in five years’ time. Meanwhile, the funding gap for the upcoming 2026-27 financial year, beginning in April, stands at £20.8m.  In addition, the council saw its debt increase by £105m in the last financial year to £600m in total... Bosses have also previously been criticised after insisting that women should be called “people with ovaries”.  They claimed that legally defining sex as biological “misgenders trans people” and could lead to discrimination.  Officials also argue that the term “maternity” should be scrapped and replaced with “paternity” to avoid offending trans people, despite the latter meaning “the fact of being a father”. Earlier this year, the Green-run administration also proposed to charge yoga teachers, paid dog walkers and other professional exercise tutors £450 a year to use a city park.  Council bosses are also spending £4,720 a year on tap water for council meetings. They are charged £20 per meeting by a new catering company which was hired in July.  They spent nearly £200,000 correcting a typographical error in tax bills sent to residents."
Left wingers will say this is fine, because it's a small amount of money, but then rage about CEO pay even if there're millions of workers. And clearly it all adds up, as the examples show

National Trust bans Christian from filming at religious site - "The National Trust has been accused of anti-Christian discrimination after banning a Roman Catholic from filming at a religious site.  Christian Holden was blocked from filming at St Cuthbert’s Cave in Northumberland last year for a documentary about the 7th-century monk.  He was told by executives at the heritage charity that the “religious affiliation” of the film, which centred on the long-distance St Cuthbert’s Way footpath, meant it could not go ahead.  The trust has now been accused of religious discrimination by Voice for Justice UK, a Christian campaign group... Voice for Justice UK claimed the charity had discriminated against Mr Holden contrary to the 2010 Equality Act, under which religion is a protected characteristic... The National Trust was accused of sidelining Christianity in 2023 when it featured Diwali, Eid and Ramadan – but not Christmas or Easter – in an “inclusivity and wellbeing” calendar."

Fury as 'hard-up' Met Police is set to splurge £5million a year on 64-strong woke taskforce... as half of its mounted officers face losing their jobs - "Britain's biggest police force is to spend a staggering £5.2 million a year on employing 64 diversity staff, despite paring frontline services to the bone, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.  The Metropolitan Police is committed to expanding its woke workforce despite slashing thousands of officers' jobs as it grapples with a £250 million funding gap, according to data exclusively obtained by this newspaper under a Freedom of Information request. The document also reveals the mind-boggling array of inclusivity projects in the force. Among 63 events celebrated on a 'diversity calendar' are International Pronouns Day, Pansexual and Panromantic Awareness Day, Be Kind To Humankind Week and National Tsunami Awareness Week.  There are also 47 staff support networks including the Bisexual Support Group, the He For She gender equality movement, and the Borderline Personality Disorder network, as well as 19 associations for various ethnicities – including Ibero-American, Polish, Italian, Slavic and Romanian – and support for followers of every major religion. The revelations come after the MoS revealed that Britain's public sector is splurging £70 million a year on woke equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) officers as frontline services are stretched to breaking point.  Our analysis of the diversity gravy train found the NHS alone spends £40million on EDI jobs each year, despite the waiting list standing at 7.4million. Sir Mark Rowley, the Met Commissioner, has said that the force would lose 3,300 police officers in 2025 and 2026 and close ten more police station front counters... Scotland Yard is currently advertising for two 'life events delivery managers' on £47,000 a year. One will help parents find a good work-life balance, while the other will aid staff with disabilities and neurodivergent conditions. Both roles are based in Kilburn, where the local police station closed its front counter to the public in 2017... The Met currently spends £3.2million on posts in its Culture Diversity and Inclusion Unit, which will rise to £5.2million once all current vacancies are filled. And the force conceded: 'This does not include any other posts that may lead or be involved in DEI related activity across other business areas in the Met.'"
This explains two tier policing

RadioGenoa on X - "In Germany, Islamists and anti-fascists tell a German woman she has no right to speak because she is white. They are racist scum."

Lord of the Rings ‘demonises people of colour’, students told - "A university is teaching students that JRR Tolkien demonises “people of colour” in the Lord of the Rings books.  A history module called Decolonising Tolkien et al, taught at the University of Nottingham, uses a text that says orcs and other dark-skinned characters in the trilogy are the victims of “ethnic chauvinism”.  Dr Onyeka Nubia, a historian and writer who leads the module, argues that eastern races in the fictional realm of Middle Earth are depicted as evil while fairer-skinned peoples of the west are shown as virtuous... He claims in the core module text that Shakespeare’s work helped to promote a vision of a “fictional, mono-ethnic English past”. His plays are said to be problematic for “missing direct references to Africans living in England”, creating the “illusion” of racial homogeneity in England.  In 2021, academics taking part in an Anti-Racist Shakespeare programme at The Globe Theatre in London argued that the Bard’s work consistently links whiteness to beauty, while “dark is unattractive”."

The Future the Left Wants is Equity Smashing Civilization - "A delusion amongst many “conservatives” is that the modern left is essentially FDR but without the overt and covert connections to communism. Americans do indeed have internal enemies, and those enemies want to destroy them.  Such is shown by a piece of “art” that was made in 2024, but has risen to the fore given the left’s current campaign of domestic terror against Tesla. The “art” is a chiseled Mesoamerican head, one without any of the fine detail associated with European statuary, crushing a Tesla Model 3. The “artist,” meanwhile, sits with his arms folded on the crushed vehicle, glowering.  If there is a symbol of what the left wants, it is this: a poorly wrought symbol of an illiterate tribe crushing a finely made symbol of highly advanced technological civilization. It accomplishes nothing, is absurd given that buying a Tesla just to crush it only benefits Tesla, and is ridiculous given that a crane — another tool and symbol of modern society — likely had to be used to get the head on top of the car... rather than be ashamed over or embarrassed by the sullen Mexican subversive destroying what he couldn’t create, the left supports it, championing the Stone Age against civilization as a “visual battle between indigenous identity and modern exploitation.” Therein lies the rot, and the problem.  The great advances we have made require competence. Semi-conductors, for example, are so advanced they seem magical. They’re also the backbone of modern civilization. They are also impossible to build in America, as even liberal outlets like The Hill admit, because DEI has made it impossible... if that reaches its inevitable logical conclusion, we will follow the path of South Africa or Zimbabwe and go from being an advanced civilization to one that uses candles because electricity is once again too far beyond the realm of the possible... Elon Musk’s SpaceX, for example, just rescued two astronauts left stranded on the International Space Station by pro-DEI Biden and Boeing. That was a historic mission... But it is also one the left has attacked relentlessly for not being “diverse” enough; it even got sued for not hiring enough “refugees,” as if Haitians make good rocket scientists. Tesla faces the same attacks. What matters to them is not that the car, the reusable rockets, or the 40-story rockets that can reach Mars and then be reused are hugely successful, innovative, and beautiful works of high-tech art. If that even registers in their addled brains at all, it is seen as a negative…as it was for Chavis Marmol and his Olmec rock. Rather, what matters is that the stone head of the “Indigenous” Stone Age, the envious millstone of race communism, must crush everything opposed to it so that the world is a leveled, egalitarian place. This is the same reason the same sorts of people protested the Apollo missions, after all, with protesters like the ones seen below and songs like “Whitey on the Moon” (which was played to Indigenous bongo drums) characterizing the opposition to national feats of greatness: We can’t have both. We can’t have anti-civilization, “equity”-based destruction of everything more advanced than a femur bone wielded as a club on one hand and corporations that are set to settle planets on the other. The two mix like oil and water, being diametrically opposed to each other.  So, we face a time for choosing. Will we embrace what is represented by SpaceX and Tesla — greatness, aesthetic beauty, and feats of technological brilliance and daring beyond anything seen before? Or will we embrace the global favela — the spirit, smell, and aesthetic of the steaming, putrid air of a decaying village in Dahomey? The left wants to embrace Dahomey, embrace the Stone Age. The vacant eyes of the resentful “Indigenous” artist as his large rock crushes a symbol of engineering excellence shows this spirit, and their praise shows the broad acceptance of it."

Portland sparks outrage for city's woke 'tree' lighting ceremony - "Portland has sparked outrage after stripping its Christmas tree of its name, referring to it only as “the tree” during its lighting ceremony. As thousands gathered in Pioneer Courthouse Square for the Oregon city’s 41st annual tree-lighting on Friday night, leaders and speakers avoided mentioning “Christmas” at any point — including in the ceremony itself and the event’s ads. The festive occasion was kicked off with a woman from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs thanking everyone in the crowd for coming out on Native American Heritage Day... Draped in a Palestinian flag, the woman used her stage time to lead the crowd in a “Free Palestine” chant."
Time to mock the idea of a War on Christmas as it's a right wing myth and anyone who believes it is stupid

Schools rename Christmas jumper day ‘Winter’ jumper day - "Schools have renamed Christmas Jumper Day as Winter Jumper Day in a move branded “ridiculous” by critics.  Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day is set to be held next week, with schools across the country being asked to hold a fundraising day for children in need.  But some schools have rebranded the day, replacing the word “Christmas” with the more inclusive term “Winter”.  Critics have said the decision was “outrageous” and “utterly ridiculous”... This comes after major brands have been moving to rename Christmas products to more inclusive alternatives.  Tesco was criticised last month for renaming its Christmas trees as “evergreen trees”... The London School of Economics said the Christmas holidays were to be known as the “winter break” in 2023. Staff at the University of Brighton were told to refer to the holidays as the “winter closure period” in 2022, to avoid being “Christian-centric”."

The workplaces scrubbing Christmas from existence - "high street bank HSBC was criticised for banning staff from wearing Christmas jumpers in customer-facing roles whilst at DIY retailer Screwfix, there was recently “confusion” among staff over whether baubles and tinsel could be hung in areas of the store visible to customers... the DVLA went one step further: it actually cancelled its traditional free Christmas dinner, which drew criticism from demoralised employees. In recent years, staff at the organisation, based in Swansea, were given vouchers for a free lunch: but this year, it said in an email: “A voucher solely for Christmas is not permitted, as this does not align with the principles of fairness and consistency. Vouchers previously issued for team Christmas lunches… are no longer available for this reason.”... “I have a background in education and found the public sector full of people who will say ‘Let’s call Christmas the winter break’ or whatever. It’s a tiny proportion of the public who really dislike Britain, the west, and Christianity, so this is down to extremely aggressive woke activists.” Companies need to stand up to this, he says: “We are in danger of losing our culture – people really don’t want activists tampering with their traditions and Christianity. And most importantly taking the joy out of life.” Part of the problem is HR overreach. Britain now employs more than 500,000 people in HR roles – a staggering 83 per cent increase since 2011, according to the British Labour Force survey. To put this in perspective, HR workers now outnumber NHS doctors three to one. Second worldwide only to the Dutch, the UK is now an HR superpower. “The profession is mostly women, and disproportionately attracts university graduates whose progressive politics shape a specific view of how to make the world a better place – including the world of work,” says HR commentator Tanya de Grunwald, the host of the This Isn’t Working podcast, which investigates what’s going wrong in UK workplaces. The result, she says, is a bloated and confused industry, with staff no longer focussed on the traditional HR roles, such as recruitment, training and the discipline of employees, but distracted by fads such as employee wellbeing and DEI initiatives. “I am all for inclusivity but there has been a massive mission creep in HR with the role moving away from what’s actually best for business. “Many of these young professionals will have off-the-shelf views, and be passionate about Gaza, or climate change or trans rights. “Some religions and cultures are also favoured over others. They are very comfortable promoting the holy days of Islam and Hinduism, for instance, but are much quieter when it comes to Judaism or Christianity.” In their view, says de Grunwald, “Christianity is particularly unfashionable. It’s seen as anti-LGBT, anti-abortion, anti-trans, and is associated with Donald Trump and the far-Right in America. “There is a squeamishness around it – and therefore Christmas – and they don’t know what to do with it. These people may well talk about inclusion, but their failure to consider all groups equally has meant HR has lost a lot of credibility in recent years.” The scrubbing of Christmas traditions has been building for a while. As far back as the late 1990s, Birmingham Council came under fire for using the term “Winterval” as a marketing strategy to encompass Diwali, Christmas and New Year. Melissa Hewitt, head of HR Outsource at tech recruitment firm Morson Group, understands the logic: she helps deliver HR expertise to a range of tech and engineering companies and many don’t see the point of using the word “Christmas” at all. “Creating a more inclusive Christmas experience for everybody is one of the key things we’ve been working on recently with clients,” she says. “Some businesses are leaning towards calling it a ‘festive celebration’ or an ‘end of year celebration’... For some companies, the worry over Christmas language stems not just from the passionate views of Gen Z but from the fear of legal ramifications. Under the Equality Act, religion or belief is protected – and if people feel excluded or pressured to join in with a certain event, companies can face discrimination or harassment claims."
Of course, UK companies celebrate Diwali amd Eid.

English Heritage admits promoting ‘nonsense’ theory about Christmas - "In a now-deleted post on X, the social media platform, on Wednesday, English Heritage wrote: “Why do we celebrate Christmas on 25 December? It was celebrated by the Romans as the birth of the sun god, Sol Invictus. After the Roman Empire converted to Christianity, it was changed into a Christian holy day, and parts of the winter festivals were brought together.” The claim is widely discredited among historians, because the evidence for Sol Invictus being celebrated on December 25 appears later than the first records of Christians saying Christ was born on the date. Chris McBride, a historical researcher, responded to the post: “You are one of the highest, most important historical bodies in the country. Guardians of historical knowledge. How can you still not know this is utter nonsense? This has nothing to do with why Christmas is on December 25th.” The charity, which later admitted it got the facts “wrong”, was also criticised in April after one of its sites claimed Easter was not originally Christian. Dr Bijan Omrani, the historian and author of God is an Englishman, told The Telegraph: “Earlier this year, English Heritage relied on outdated or discredited scholarship to argue that Easter was developed out of pagan festivals... The Rev Canon Andrew Davison, regius professor of divinity at the University of Oxford, said the “evidence is against” English Heritage’s claim. “I have no problem with Christianity adapting pagan insights – moving from the shadows of things to the things themselves – it’s just that the evidence is against this being an example of any such thing,” he said. “English Heritage, are you interested in historical accuracy?”... Tom Holland, the popular historian and co-host of The Rest is History podcast, responded to English Heritage’s post by saying: “Please make it stop.” In a follow-up post, which was also later deleted, English Heritage mistakenly claimed Christianity “became the official religion of the Roman Empire in 325 CE”. This actually happened in 380 AD with the Edict of Thessalonica."

The Oxford student who mocked Charlie Kirk still hasn’t learnt his lesson - "As a result of his response to the murder of a leading conservative activist – “Charlie Kirk got shot loool” – George Abaraonye will no longer get to serve as the president of the Oxford Union debating society. I’m sure we all agree that this represents a profound loss to the field of philosophical inquiry. Especially now we’ve been told what Mr Abaraonye had been planning to do during his term of office. According to reports, the Oxford PPE undergraduate had intended to hold a debate about the hanging of British flags in public – under the title, “This house believes that flying the flag betrays Great British values.”  Sadly the world will now be denied this mouth-watering intellectual treat. I for one would have been fascinated to hear how flying the flag of one’s nation is a betrayal of that same nation’s values. Yet, because of Mr Abaraonye’s removal, we will never find out why it is that patriotism is actually unpatriotic. A great pity. I imagine it would have been the Oxford Union’s most memorable debate since “This house will under no circumstances fight for its King and country”, which was held on February 9, 1933, 10 days after Hitler became chancellor of Germany. At any rate, it’s good that Mr Abaraonye has apologised to Charlie Kirk’s grieving family. Even so, I find the comments he’s made in mitigation to be just a touch baffling. In interviews with media outlets over the weekend, he said that, when he first heard about the shooting, he “didn’t really understand the severity of the situation”, reacted “without having done research”, and “didn’t take into account the nuance”.  What “nuance” he has in mind, I’m afraid I have no idea. Many adjectives can be used to describe the cold-blooded shooting of a 31-year-old civilian, but “nuanced” is not one of them. I’m also uncertain what “research” Mr Abaraonye feels he should have done. Surely he doesn’t need Google to tell him whether or not shooting people is bad. It is of course only natural that a debater of Mr Abaraonye’s calibre should advocate carrying out extensive background reading before forming an opinion on a given issue. But when the issue at hand is the assassination of an innocent father-of-two, I doubt many people would need to spend six months swotting in the Bodleian before concluding that the appropriate response is probably not “loool”. The main mistake Mr Abaraonye made during his media round, however, was to complain about what a “difficult” time he’s had since his response was reported, and the “racist and classist vitriol” to which he says he’s been subjected. Obviously he shouldn’t be receiving any abuse of this kind. But in the circumstances he would have been better advised just to issue his apology, and say no more. That way, no one could have accused him of making excuses, or angling for sympathy. Instead, his complaints risk overshadowing his apology. Some people may even suspect that the person he feels most sorry for is himself.  Still, even they would at least sympathise with him over his fears of being assaulted. At the height of the row, he said, he worried that it could “spill into something more, like someone getting hurt”.  Physically attacking a man because you disapprove of something he’s said is of course very wrong. But then, the family of Charlie Kirk could have told him that."
