The study, published this week in Acta Paediatrica, was led by Professor Riittakerttu Kaltiala of Tampere University Hospital. Kaltiala has run Finland's youth gender clinic since 2011. She also served on the UK's Cass Review advisory board.
Finland centralises all gender identity assessments to two university hospitals. Because health register reporting is mandatory and patients cannot opt out, the dataset captured the complete fate of every gender-referred adolescent in the country from 1996 to 2019. The cohort of 2,083 individuals was compared against 16,643 matched population controls. Follow-up ran for up to 25 years. This is not a small study with convenient dropouts. It is the full national picture.
Among those who underwent medical "gender reassignment", the increase was stark. Feminising procedures: psychiatric morbidity rose from 9.8% to 60.7%. Masculinising procedures: from 21.6% to 54.5%. The procedures did not resolve the distress. After adjusting for prior psychiatric history, all gender-referred adolescents — whether or not they had undergone procedures — faced similarly elevated ongoing risk. Approximately five times higher than male controls. Three times higher than female controls. The authors noted plainly: in some individuals, the medical procedures "appear to be linked to deterioration in mental health."
This is a peer-reviewed journal. This is the lead clinician of Finland's national gender clinic. These are her words. The study also found that those referred after 2010 — when Finland saw a tenfold referral surge — arrived with far greater pre-existing psychiatric needs. 47.9% had already required specialist psychiatric treatment before their first clinic contact. Among matched controls in the same period, that figure was 15.3%. The authors suggest the pattern may indicate that for some adolescents, mental health difficulties are presenting as concerns about gender identity — not the reverse.
The study's conclusion could not be clearer: "Psychiatric needs do not subside after medical gender reassignment." This is the finding the gender medicine movement has staked its entire ethical claim on. The claim has not held.
In Australia, two clinicians who raised these exact concerns faced regulatory action. Dr Andrew Amos was banned by AHPRA for questioning the treatments publicly. No finding of patient harm was made against him. @Jilliantweeting was suspended, then issued a termination notice. Spencer's termination came one month before an independent panel was due to deliver its findings. That decision is now subject to legal challenge. The Finnish study adds to the evidence base both clinicians drew on when they spoke up.
The UK's Cass Review — a four-year NHS-commissioned inquiry — found the evidence base for puberty-suppressing drugs and cross-sex hormones in minors to be "remarkably weak." It rated Australia's child gender medicine standards 19 out of 100 for rigour of development. Queensland has suspended the initiation of these treatments for minors until at least 2031. The federal government has tasked the NHMRC with updating clinical guidelines, with interim advice expected by mid-2026. The science is forcing the policy debate. The Finnish authors' recommendation is precise: thorough psychiatric assessment and ongoing treatment, before and after any medical procedures. "Psychiatric needs must be adequately met." Clearly, gatekeeping trans medical care is literally genocide, even though trans "medical care" was associated with greater psychological problems, and trans mania has led to even greater distress among "trans" youth. This is not a self-fulfilling prophecy like the Dartmouth Scar Experiment resulting from TRAs obsession about "transphobia" and telling "trans" youth that they are being exterminated and discriminated against every day and the subsequent relaxation of gatekeeping and promotion of gender affirming "care"

D.W. Winnicott never wrote about gender. He wrote about distressed children and what happens when the adults around them offer premature certainty instead of safe space. His concept of the False Self has been almost entirely missing from the debate on gender identity in youth, and that absence has come at a steep cost. Winnicott observed that when love feels conditional, children learn to construct an identity that secures approval. This construction is not cynical or performed; it is experienced as utterly real because it was forged under conditions that made compliance feel necessary for survival. The False Self does not feel false, it feels real and authentic. That is exactly why it is so clinically treacherous once entrenched. The gender affirmative model created precisely the conditions Winnicott warned against. It told distressed children that a specific identity - transgender - was their authentic core. It offered belonging and affirmation contingent on full commitment to that identity. It framed clinical caution as harm and parental concern as bigotry. These are the classic ingredients for False Self development. The model then took the resulting fervent presentation as proof that the identity was innate and required immediate medical reinforcement. Winnicott was clear about the outcome: the underlying distress does not dissolve. When that reinforcement becomes irreversible - puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, surgery - the path back becomes far more difficult, sometimes impossible. The evidence now aligns with this developmental understanding. Finland’s national register study of 2,083 gender-referred young people (1996–2019) found severe psychiatric morbidity rising from 45.7% before referral to 61.7% two or more years after. The gap with matched controls did not close, it widened. The same research group has shown that medical gender reassignment itself has no measurable impact on suicide risk once psychiatric history is accounted for. The “affirmation is lifesaving” claim is not supported by the data from the countries with the longest experience. The triumph of the False Self leads only to deep, unforgiving, distress and unhappiness. None of this dismisses the reality of gender related distress in children. Winnicott took children’s suffering with profound seriousness. What he refused to do was mistake the form the distress took for its root cause. The proper clinical task is not to affirm the constructed identity but to create the conditions in which the True Self can cautiously emerge. That demands time, patience, and the tolerance of uncertainty. Factors that the transgender movement have been keen to snuff out."

Transgender Shooters Commit Disproportionate Shares of Mass Public and Active Shooting Attacks—In 2024, for active shooters, at Least 12 Times Their Share of the Population - "A widely cited February 2024 report by Politifact claimed: “No evidence of rising LGBTQ+ violent extremism or ‘trans terrorism.” A follow up report by Politifact in September 2025 examined both the FBI’s definition of active shooting attacks and the notion of mass shootings concluded: “Are trans people ‘statistically’ more prone to commit gun violence? Data shows a different picture.” It looked at the period from 2018 to 2024 that we examine here when looking at active shooting attacks, though we have data through 2025 for mass public shootings. Unfortunately, these and similar claims make a basic error: they look only at the share of attacks committed by transgender individuals and make no attempt to adjust for transgender individuals’ share of the population. That is an obvious statistical mistake. If a group makes up just 1 percent of the population but commits 10 percent of the attacks, no one would dismiss that disparity simply because the group accounts for “only” 10 percent of active shooting attacks. Others such as the Associated Press states: “No ‘incredible rise’ in transgender shooters” and Snopes conclude: “Mass shooters are not disproportionately transgender, contrary to claims.” But they compound the problem by not only failing to adjust for transgenders’ share of the population but by also using a much broader definition of shootings than the FBI uses. For example, the Gun Violence Archive compiles “mass shootings” that overwhelmingly involve gang fights over drug turf and, to a lesser extent, other crimes such as robberies. While those incidents may be important to study, they differ fundamentally from shootings in which an individual enters a location with the sole goal of murdering and injuring as many people as possible to generate publicity... The media bias on this issue can be seen in their coverage in not mentioning when these murderers are transgender. For the Rhode Island murderer, the Associated Press, CNN, ABC News, NBC News, MS Now, and the New York Times never mentioned the murderer was transgender. For the Canada mass murderer, who murdered 9 and injured 25, the Associated Press never mentioned that he was transgender. Of course, even television entertainment shows, such as CBS’s Blue Bloods, pushed the claim that the murder rate by transgender people is less than that for the general population. Different estimates place transgender individuals at varying shares of the population, and researchers measure attacks in different ways (for example, distinguishing between active shooting attacks and mass public shootings). But regardless of how one breaks down the data, transgender individuals commit these attacks at disproportionately high rates. As we discuss below, in 2024 transgender individuals committed active shooting attacks at least 12 times their share of the population and possibly more than 16 times their share... mass public shooters in particular are overwhelmingly suicidal. Given the high rates of suicide by transgender individuals, it isn’t too surprising that they may be overrepresented about mass public shooters...

– Lakewood Church shooter identified as transgender, Genesse Ivonne Moreno, used male names (e.g. Jeffrey Moreno-Carranza and Jeffrey G. Escalante-Moreno), two injured. This is one case that is debatable, and the results above show the statistical test with it also excluded. 36 years old.
– Trump’s attempted assassin Thomas Crooks used they/them pronouns, had a deep interest in furries, and was exploring gender identity. 20 years old."
Trans election candidate left ‘very scared’ after 'harassment' - "A trans woman who stood as an independent candidate in general election says she feels “scared” and “anxious” in public because of the ‘harassment’ she’s faced. Sophie Molly Molly polled 225 votes standing as an Independent in Aberdeen South – the constituency of the SNP’s Westminster leader Stephen Flynn. But on the campaign trail, Molly, who continues to fight to protect trans rights, was “subjected to very threatening and transphobic messages from a group of online transphobes”... On 16 July, she discovered on X/Twitter that a group had posted a video of her while she was out in Aberdeen city centre. “The purpose of filming me was to frighten and mock me. Feeling scared, I reported this to Police Scotland,” she says. A police spokesperson told PinkNews: “We received a report of a harassment on Thursday, 18 July. There was no evidence of criminality and advice was provided.” Molly says the incident has left her very scared and anxious when out in public."

It’s easy to moralise about public toilets when you’ve a bodyguard waiting outside to mind your handbag. If only it was as easy to flush away this celebrity waffle as it is to flush what they’re full of. Then there was the 2022 BAFTAs. Emma marched up on stage, grinned and started her speech with, “I’m here for all the witches,” before mouthing “bar one.” Many of Watson’s admirers took this to be a sly dig at Rowling — because nothing would scream female empowerment like sneering at the woman who gave you your career. By now it’s clear that Watson is one of the most visible celebs flying the flag for trans ideology. And in the most deranged twist of all, some anime profile lad typed in Spanish, “Emma Watson (or so I hope so)” alongside an image of a woman about to be shot. Normal behaviour, apparently. Not a single slogan she parroted, not one mantra she regurgitated, has been there to defend her. She’s now getting a taste of what Rowling’s been living with for years: pure, unfiltered bile, the demonic kind you couldn’t make up if you tried. But here’s the thing, despite Emma happily throwing Rowling under the Knight Bus, we’ve got to protect all the witches from this nonsense. Forgiveness isn’t required. Solidarity is. Because if they can do this to Emma bleedin’ Watson, who spent years licking the boots of the cult, then what chance has anyone else? And maybe, just maybe, the onlookers, the fellow disciples of gender ideology, will finally cop on to the truth that no matter how loud you chant, no matter how hard you kneel, it will never, ever be enough."

A Colorado court awarded emergency guardianship of the teenager to the queer (they/she) girlfriend of the local LGBTQ org’s executive director. Cook Inclusive is funded by the Colorado Health Foundation and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Cook Inclusive’s executive director, Ashley Stahl, is a man who self-identifies as a woman. Stahl and Cook Inclusive are involved in local schools, supporting their Gay Straight Alliance clubs. The mom in @TheRMVoice story said her daughter had participated in a school “art club” which turned out to be a GSA-type club prior to leaving her home to live with Stahl’s girlfriend Erin Anderson."
Clearly, if you say schools are transitioning children, you're crazy, and if you say the government will take your children away if you don't bow to gender ideology, that's misinformation
Supreme Court strikes down Colorado's ban on conversion therapy - "The US Supreme Court has ruled against a law in Colorado that bans so-called conversion therapy for lesbian, gay and transgender people. It sided 8-1 with a therapist from Colorado Springs who argued that the state's restrictions violated her free speech rights guaranteed under the US Constitution's First Amendment... Kaley Chiles, a licensed counsellor and practising Christian in Colorado Springs, argued the ban in her state interfered with her ability to treat individuals with "same-sex attractions or gender identity confusion" who "prioritise their faith above their feelings"... Colorado officials had said the law does not regulate speech, but instead regulates the conduct of professionals providing mental health treatment. They also argued the law does not prohibit discussions of gender identity and sexual orientation. But the majority of justices said "the First Amendment's protections extend to licensed professionals much as they do everyone else". "

Left wingers love to claim that medical matters should only be between medical providers and patients, because they can only imagine that it applies to abortion. But the struck-down Colorado bill HB19-1129 includes "a licensed physician specializing in psychiatry" (even if you want to exclude "a licensed, certified, or registered mental health care provider" from the classification). It's no surprise that left wingers are hypocrites, as usual.

(As she opined in United States v. Skrmetti.) Puberty blockers and hormone treatment are a far more invasive treatment than talk therapy. So if talk therapy can be banned, puberty blockers can too. There is even a further free speech argument in the case for not being able to ban talk therapy. It is quite clear that she makes her rulings not based on the law, or on logical consistency, but on her personal ideological alignment. The use of puberty blockers is viewed favorably by many progressive, while conversion talk therapy is not. That is why she makes logically inconsistent rulings."
