Woman, 83, settles lawsuit over male employee in YMCA women’s locker room - "An 83-year-old woman banned from her local YMCA pool after objecting to a male transgender employee being in the women’s locker room has settled her lawsuit for $65,000, calling it a “victory for common sense.”  Julie Jaman, a longtime member of the Mountain View Pool in Port Townsend, Washington, filed a federal lawsuit last year after being permanently barred from YMCA facilities for confronting a transgender employee supervising young girls in the female changing area.   “I never imagined that expressing concerns about the safety and privacy of women and girls would lead to me being shunned and banned,” Jaman said in a statement. “I’m grateful that justice has been served and that my voice was heard. This is a victory for common sense, women’s rights, and the right to speak the truth.”  The case, settled in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, alleged both the city and the Olympic Peninsula YMCA retaliated against Jaman for protected speech.   She will receive $65,000 and reimbursement for legal costs.  The YMCA also agreed to remove certain information about her from its website, which her attorneys say highlights the baselessness of the actions taken against her...   The dispute began in July 2022 when Jaman confronted Clementine Adams, a transgender YMCA employee and camp counselor, who entered the women’s locker room with two young girls while Jaman was showering."

Pride rainbows taken off Northumbria police cars after court ruling - "A police force has agreed to remove all Pride rainbows and transgender livery from its vehicles following a landmark High Court ruling.  Northumbria Police has also told its officers and staff they cannot attend a Gay Pride march in uniform this weekend, in a move that could set a precedent for other forces.  Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine ordered the removal of all diversity-based symbols from police cars and vans after a judge rebuked her force over its lack of impartiality.  Northumbria was taken to court by a gender-critical lesbian who said it was wrong for officers to take part in events that promoted gender ideology... The move comes after Linzi Smith, 34, a gender-critical lesbian from Newcastle, brought a case against Northumbria Constabulary, arguing that it had been wrong to allow uniformed officers to actively participate in an event that promoted gender ideology and was supported by transgender activists.  In his ruling, the judge, Mr Justice Linden, said it was important that police forces were not perceived as taking sides in contentious social debates."

NHS surgeon who had his legs removed to satisfy sexual interest is jailed for fraud - "A surgeon who froze his legs so they would require amputation to satisfy a sexual obsession before making nearly £500,000 in insurance claims has been jailed.  Neil Hopper, a 49-year-old vascular surgeon, was given 32 months after he pleaded guilty to two charges of fraud by false representation. This related to claims made to insurance companies that his legs had been amputated because of sepsis rather than self-inflicted injury.  He also admitted three charges of possessing extreme pornographic images relating to videos from a website called the EunuchMaker... At Truro crown court on Thursday, Judge James Adkin heard that Hopper was identified after investigations into Marius Gustavson, who ran the website. Gustavson was jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years at the Old Bailey last year for leading an extreme body modification ring. It carried out male castration, penis removal and other procedures on people as young as 16... In April 2019, he used dry ice to freeze his legs to the extent they were no longer viable and required amputation. This had long been an ambition of his and he had a sexual interest in it, the court was told... The surgeon spoke of his amputation in interviews in 2023 with the BBC and in a documentary with the Welsh language channel, S4C. The court was told he “enjoyed the attention” the publicity generated, and he was shortlisted in the European Space Agency’s search for an astronaut with a disability."

Why Gay Times hit the buffers | The Spectator Australia - "Gay Times, the longstanding monthly magazine formerly aimed at gay men – but now repurposed as an ‘LGBTQ+’ title – is in trouble: it has lost 80 per cent of its advertisers in the last year, and £5 million in advertising revenue as a result. ‘Good old-fashioned discrimination’ is to blame, according to its chief executive Tag Warner. The real reason is rather more straightforward: Gay Times‘s troubles show, once again, that if you go woke, you risk going broke. The Guardian suggests instead that Donald Trump might be to blame. ‘There has been a backlash in the US over corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts in the past 18 months, which has led to some big names rolling back their plans,’ the paper reports... Is it really so much of a mystery that gay men don’t want to see that or read about it? (Indeed, who does?) Or that advertisers would get cold feet about trying to flog their wares in such a publication?   My only surprise is that it’s taken so long for Gay Times to hit the buffers. One of the oddest things about the gender mania of the last decade is the willingness of businesses to lose money hand over fist. What happened to the bottom line?  We are at a curious stage in the gender war, with high-profile wins for the sex realist side, but with lots of powerful institutions, stuffed with gender true believers, reluctant to shift with the tide. Clearly, it’s still very uncomfortable to back out.   Gay men still can’t even meet without pledging allegiance to the gender cause. A recent event convened by the ‘gender-critical’ group Human Gay Male in Brighton was cancelled, seemingly after the pub at which the group was due to meet caught wind of its ideology.  The truth is that the fight for common sense has not yet been won. We are in the ‘winkling out the partisans street by street’ stage of the gender war. Statistics watchdog cuts ties with Stonewall after census debacle - "Britain’s statistics watchdog cut ties with Stonewall after the 2021 census overestimated the country’s transgender population, it has emerged.  The Office for National Statistics (ONS) broke off its long-standing association with Stonewall in the wake of the national survey, which incorrectly reported there were 262,000 transgender people in the UK... Documents released under freedom of information laws show that the ONS consulted closely with Stonewall ahead of the 2021 census on the question: “Is the gender you identify with the same as your sex registered at birth?”. It was the first time the census had surveyed gender identity.  The census’s transgender data was later stripped of its accredited status in 2024 as the question had been widely misunderstood, leading to dubious spikes in the data.  People who spoke English as their second language were four times more likely to say they were transgender than native speakers. This resulted in London boroughs Brent and Newham reporting a higher percentage of transgender people than Brighton. It was the first time in the census’s 220-year history that data had been downgraded.  ONS joins a string of other public bodies and private companies – including the Premier League, the BBC and the Royal College of Psychiatrists – which have severed ties with Stonewall in recent years... Part of the reason for the incoherent forcefulness against the white rioters last year from a regime that is in deep-surrender-mode against pro-Holocaust marchers, rape gangs and criminals generally, is a mix of a) aesthetic revulsion in SW1 at the Brexit-voting white north and b) incoherent Whitehall terror of widespread white-English mobs turning political and attracting talented political entrepreneurs. We can see on the streets that various forces have already realised the regime will not stop them. What if this spreads? E.g if you talk to senior people in places like UAE, they tell you that bigshots in that region now tell each other — don’t send your kids to be educated in Britain, they’ll come back radical Islamist nutjobs! Our regime has spent thirty years a) destroying border control and sane immigration (including the Home Office’s jihad against the highest skilled, whom they truly loathe discussing and try to repel with stupid fees etc) and b) actively prioritising people from the most barbaric places on earth (hence immigration from the tribal areas most responsible for the grooming/rape gangs keeps rising) and c) funding the spread of those barbaric ideas and defending the organisations spreading them with human rights laws designed to stop the return of totalitarianism in Europe. In parallel, they’ve started propaganda operations with the old media to spread the meme that our ‘real danger’ is the ‘far right’ (code for ‘white people’). As Tories and Labour have continued their deranged trajectory, they have provoked exactly the reactions they most feared including the spreading meme that our regime itself has become our enemy and the growing politicisation of white English nationalism. These deep state discussions about the growing prospect of violence, like the focus group discussions about ‘civil war’, have seeped through to few MPs or hacks. And the evolution of the Cabinet Office in recent years has excluded ministers, spads and the PM from almost any visibility inside the NSS, the National Security Secretariat of the CO, which has acquired power from the rest of the security/intelligence system and runs a failing empire within a failing empire. When I said in 2020 that, among the general changes to the dysfunctional No10/CO system, the oversight of NSS must change so it became visible and legible again to the PM’s office so we could participate in debates like — what are the actual priorities of the intelligence services vis Putin and Xi — some senior officials tried to pretend that zero political scrutiny of NSS was somehow a constitutional principle. After I left, this system became even more closed and dysfunctional, hence the total lack of true strategic thinking connecting ends-ways-means over Ukraine and all things defence procurement becoming more and more Kafka-esque as the MoD shipped stuff to Ukraine. I repeat: the lack of legibility of the NSS is without historical precedent in the UK for centuries and is related to broader issues of Whitehall’s dysfunction, the disgraceful shambles of the MoD etc... The old parties lost their last chance to fix things in a sort-of normal way when the Trolley and his girlfriend told everyone in 2021 they were going ‘back to normal politics’. SW1 cheered including the Tory MPs who got culled en masse in 2024. Sunak doubled down on optimising for *pats on the head from Permanent Secretaries and lawyers*. After Starmer won, SW1’s NPCs tweeted to each other how they now had ‘serious grownups’ and we’d return to ‘normal government’.  But this was just another cycle of delusional SW1 Narrative Whiplash. The Starmer project blew up on contact with the reality of Whitehall. Now both parties are led by Dead Players. Both old parties are structurally knackered. And the NPCs tweeting ‘hurrah for the grownups, Sue Gray is the Jedi we need’ a few months ago are now Bluesky-ing ‘disgusting rhetoric from Starmer’. Starmer is speed-running Sunak’s demented combination of a) massively raising the salience of immigration/boats with b) a set of policies that everyone who understands the details knows cannot possibly do what he’s promising.  Why is he doing it? Because, like Sunak, he’s caught between a) political advice that the country is enraged over immigration/boats and wants action, b) the adamantine priority of the dominant faction in Whitehall — i.e the force that actually orients 99% of policy — is maintaining 1) the HRA/ECHR-judicial review system and 2) the cross-party HMT/OBR/university-endorsed immigration/asylum Ponzi. Being a Dead Player optimised to ‘defend the institutions’ at all costs however pathological, Starmer has, aping Sunak, synthesised the political advice of McSweeney and the priority of the officials/lawyers actually running No10/70WH and generated his own version of Sunak’s demented combination."

Two-tier policing row over pro-Palestinian protester dressed as Holocaust victim - "Scotland Yard has been accused of “two-tier” justice after police ignored a pro-Palestinian protester dressed as a Holocaust concentration camp inmate.  Jewish leaders and MPs criticised the “religiously-aggravated” outfit worn by Maria Gallastegui, in which she replaced the star worn by inmates with an Islamic symbol.  They complained that police failed to challenge a protest “clearly designed to cause distress”, but warned men “waving Israeli flags” at a Palestine Action march that they could be guilty of breaching the peace. Ms Gallastegui, 66, a full-time protester who gave up her job as a coach driver nearly 20 years ago for a life of activism, joined a protest against plans to ban Palestine Action after its activists attacked RAF aircraft with paint.  Critics contrasted her treatment with that of Hamit Coskun, who was prosecuted and fined for a religiously aggravated public order offence after he set fire to a Koran outside the Turkish consulate in London. Free speech advocates argue that offensive behaviour should not be criminalised, regardless of whether it is committed by protesters against Islam, such as Mr Coskun, or against Israel.  Robert Jenrick, the shadow justice secretary, said: “We appear to have a two-tier blasphemy law in this country, which protects Islam from offensive references but not others.”  Alex Hearn, of Labour Against Anti-Semitism, said: “Dressing as a concentration camp inmate, with the yellow patch replaced by an Islamic symbol, has caused many people upset. “This religiously-aggravated performance appropriated and distorted the Holocaust and was clearly designed to cause distress. It’s shocking that while police act swiftly on less obvious public offencesthis blatant display went unchallenged at the heart of our democracy.” Labour Against Anti-Semitism has written to Sir Mark Rowley, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, asking him to investigate the incident as a potentially religiously-aggravated offence that had “appropriated and distorted the Holocaust” and risked “trivialising the suffering of six million Jews and other victims of Nazi persecution”.  Ms Gallastegui has been arrested previous times over the past two decades, including during a protest for the right to protest in Parliament Square in August 2005. She previously lived in a tent in Parliament Square for six years after joining the campaign against proposals to change the law to restrict protests in front of the Commons and Lords.  She was interviewed by BBC Woman’s Hour in 2021 as she lived and slept in a 150-year-old tree in Hackney. She was challenging the council’s “reckless” and “irresponsible” plans to fell it to make way for a 600-home development... A supporter of Julian Assange, the Wikileaks co-founder, Ms Gallastegui was banned from going within 100 yards of Belmarsh prison after she damaged a wall in a mock jail break attempt while he was held in the jail.  Ms Gallastegui used a drill against a wall the prison, where Assange was held during his lengthy battle to avoid extradition to the US, next to a sign that said “jailbreak in progress”. “Priti Patel Save Julian Assange” was also sprayed on the wall.  She previously appeared dressed in the Holocaust outfit in a protest to support Kneecap, the Irish republican rap group, after one of the band’s members was charged with a terror offence for displaying a flag in support of Hamas, which is proscribed as a terrorist group in the UK. At Monday’s protest, she was pictured carrying a placard that said: “We are all Palestine Action,” a message that could lead to criminal action once the group is proscribed... One Jewish observer said: “One cannot help but conclude that if the police do not stand with us against this hatred, then they stand with those who hate us. There is no middle ground when it comes to abusing the memory of the Holocaust. It is done as a deliberate act of provocation and religious division.”"

Staffordshire Police used ‘Orwellian’ powers to gag firefighter in free speech row - "Police used “Orwellian” powers to gag a firefighter and prevent him revealing he had been arrested after posting online messages criticising his bosses.  Staffordshire Police told Robert Moss that his right to “freedom of expression” had to be “limited to maintain public safety and order” following his arrest on suspicion of malicious communications.  But a special bail hearing at Newcastle-Under-Lyme magistrates’ court overturned the “gagging clause” amid fears officers were behaving as if they lived in a “police state”.  Now Mr Moss, who was never charged with a crime but had his home raided, said he believes “heavy-handed” police were “weaponised” to silence him.  It is the latest example of claims that some police forces are using draconian powers to curtail freedom of speech... Sam Armstrong, the FSU’s legislative affairs director, said: “In the more than 4,000 cases the Free Speech Union has handled, this is amongst the most egregious abuses of state power we have encountered.  “Robert’s comments were not crimes, his arrest was not lawful and the police have been acting like the Stasi, not a constabulary. Staffordshire Police’s chief constable must urgently end this investigation and apologise to Mr Moss before he finds himself writing an even bigger cheque than he already will have to.”"

UK free speech struggle 30 arrests a day censorship - "data suggests over 30 people a day are arrested for speech crimes, about 12,000 a year, under laws written well before the age of social media that make crimes of sending “grossly offensive” messages or sharing content of an “indecent, obscene or menacing character.”  Social media continues to be flooded with videos of British cops banging on doors in the middle of the night and hauling parents off to jail—all over mean Facebook posts and agitated words on X. Maxie Allen, a radio producer in Hertfordshire, was on a Zoom call at home when he saw police standing over his shoulder from the camera view on his screen. Six officers came knocking — his partner Rosalind Levine, who answered the door, thought their disabled daughter had died — to haul the couple off over comments they posted in a private WhatsApp group for parents at their children’s school.  In the chat, the couple had been repeatedly critical of the public school’s slow pace to recruit a replacement headteacher.  “It’s shaken the faith of the country I thought I lived in. I never imagined that just by airing your views  about how an organization was run, trying to hold people to account in public office, that you get arrested for that,” Allen, 50, told the Post.  “If you have a vague law and then it’s enforced to an officious and stupid degree, then it’s always going to end in tears.”   Similar stories abound. In 2018 a man identifying himself as “Adam” phoned into the British talk radio station LBC to describe his encounter with police earlier that year.  “I’m Asian myself and I did this drawing of a mate of mine, who’s also Asian, and I said, ‘you look like a terrorist.’ And he took it really well. He thought it was funny,” he told the host.   But someone else saw the humorous doodle, took issue, and called police. Months later, Adam and his friend were interviewed by authorities — the friend told cops he laughed at the drawing and wasn’t offended — but police still made an official report for a “non-crime hate incident” and forced Adam to write a letter of apology to his friend, which he had to email to him.   Last year, 21-year-old student Jamila Abdi of East London, who is black, was charged under the Communications Act of 2003 for “indecent or grossly offensive [speech] for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety” after she used a version of the n-word in post on X out of frustration while watching a soccer match.   “I’m so p—-d off let me get my hands on that f—–g n—a,” she wrote about black footballer Alexander Isak. Meanwhile in Derby, a 35-year-old man named Dimitrie Stoica was arrested for “sending a false communication with intent to cause harm” after he posted a video on TikTok to his 700 followers, which he called a spoof, where he pretended he was being chased by right-wing rioters.  Despite police admitting the video caused no problems, Stoica was jailed for three months and forced to pay a $200 fine.  Last October, Adam Smith-Connor, a 51-year-old Army veteran, was convicted and forced to pay a $12,000 fine for silently praying outside an abortion clinic in Dorset. In April, anti-mass migration French philosopher Renaud Camus was banned from the UK, where he was set to give a speech...   The stories are so shocking, it’s caught the attention of the White House, which is taking an increasingly aggressive stance against censorship in the Eurozone. In a fiery address to the Munich Security Conference in February, Vice President JD Vance blasted “a crisis of censorship” in Britain.  On Tuesday, the US State Department’s annual Human Rights Report slammed British authorities’ “serious restrictions on freedom of expression,” writing that the “human rights situation worsened” in Britian over the last year, and criticized laws like 2023’s Online Safety Act.   “We consider freedom of expression to be a foundational component of a functioning democracy,” State Department press secretary Tammy Bruce told reporters, calling Britain’s chilling government actions “intolerable in a free society.”   But Britain’s Labor government has brushed off America’s criticisms and doubled down on its nebulous and Kafkaesque speech codes. In the ashes of riots that erupted after the Southport murders, Starmer bragged that over 400 people had been arrested and jailed, “some for online activity.”  This July, the Home Office announced it was assembling an elite force of special agents drawn from across the country to monitor speech on social media.  Also this summer, the UK government updated its definition of terrorist ideologies to include “cultural nationalism,” singling out Westerners who express concern over mass migration.   Then last Thursday a court acquitted Labor councillor Ricky Jones after he was caught on video calling for the murder of anti-mass migration protestors, telling a crowd: “We need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.”  Speech advocates immediately decried a “two-tier” justice system, comparing Jones’ case to Connolly’s.   All this police action devoted to mean words is occurring while actual criminals roam the streets of British cities. Of the 33,000 car thefts recorded in London alone last year, only 300 arrests were made; while just five percent of the over 40,000 shoplifting incidents reported in London in 2023 led to charges.   “In Britain there is increasingly a sense that whatever your problem is, someone else can sort it out for you,” Maxie Allen told the Post. “It’s like Amazon, you click a button, you get a product. And I think people are saying, right, I don’t like the situation, I’ll call the police, they can shut these people up.”... “I guess [my arrest] took the attention off the real reasons for the riots and it gave them a scalp because in the UK what’s happening, particularly with the silencing of speech, is that if the government can shut people up, they don’t have to deal with the underlying issue,” she told the Post.  She’s since picked herself up and launched a podcast, hoping to give voice to others.  “My husband said to me, if you live the next 40 years in silence on our farm, when you die the news on Google will be no different than it is today. So, the only thing you can do is to speak out again.”"

UK Judge wishes al-Qaeda terrorist 'all the best' as he walks free - "A United Kingdom judge wished a convicted al-Qaeda terrorist, who claimed to be a "mastermind" behind the 9/11 attacks and a 2005 terrorist attack in England, "all the best" during a hearing permitting the terrorist's release back into society.  British national Haroon Aswat, 50, pleaded guilty in the United States in 2015 for his involvement in the creation of a terrorist training camp in 1999...  a 2022 psychiatric evaluation revealed that Aswat strongly supported violent Islamic ideology and that there is no evidence that he had symptoms of schizoaffective disorder during his involvement in organizing the terrorist camps in the United States.  "Even when in a relatively stable mental state [Aswat] has continued to express violent extremist Islamic ideology," the psychiatrist wrote in a report before Aswat's extradition to the United Kingdom. He also noted that Aswat was "highly ambivalent about the need for medication and had relapsed twice as a result of stopping treatment," and he concluded that "there remains the risk of Islamic violent extremism."  While not charged with the July 7, 2005, terrorist attack in London killing 56 people, nor the 9/11 attacks, Aswat confessed to being a mastermind behind both terror attacks while in prison in 2017.  “In March 2017, [Aswat] stated, ‘If you think I am a terrorist, I don’t shy away from my responsibility’, and also stated he was a mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks and a 2005 terrorist attack in the UK," US District Court papers obtained by the Sun stated.  United Kingdom authorities had traced 20 phone calls made by the suicide bombers of the July 7 attacks to a phone belonging to Aswat.  The release of Aswat back into the public as well as Justice Jay's soft approach to Aswat, has garnered strong outcry from Britain's top officials."

Police in free speech row after telling cancer patient to apologise for social media post - "Police have become embroiled in a free speech row after officers told a cancer patient to apologise for a social media post.  Deborah Anderson, an American citizen living in Slough, was confronted by an officer from Thames Valley Police after someone complained about an offensive Facebook post.  The police did not divulge which post had been the subject of the complaint.  The mother of two, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer, was told that if she did not apologise for the comments she could be interviewed at the police station.  Ms Anderson, a vocal supporter of Donald Trump and a member of the Free Speech Union (FSU), refused and said the officer’s time would be better spent investigating serious crimes such as burglary.  Thames Valley Police later dropped the case after the FSU instructed lawyers.  However, the incident has reignited the debate over how far the police should intervene in social media spats... Lord Young of Acton, general secretary of the FSU, said: “Watching this video, it’s as if the police have become schoolteachers, intervening in petty squabbles. Since when has it been their job to ask people to apologise?  “Except instead of threatening you with detention if you don’t, they’re threatening you with arrest. It’s both comical and deeply sinister – carry on 1984.”"

He trespassed and damaged my property.  I called the police. They drove past the scene, saw the guy and didn't bother stopping because *they* thought he was no threat. Within seconds of them passing he was back at it.  I have all this on camera.  And yet the police have time to pull shit like this. We called the police a second time that night and they never even bothered to show.  My wife called the police again later that day to complain about the failure of the police to act and *eventually* a couple of police showed up 4 days later. They were apologetic and helpful.  The thing is that the guy has already committed a crime, and I had evidence. I probably wouldn't have pressed charges but AT A MINIMUM the police should have picked up and had him sleep off whatever he was on in a cell overnight. It keeps us safer and is probably better for him as well.  The point is that the primary function of the police isn't "community relations" during business hours (which too frequently means harassing people for free speech), it's responding to crimes or being seen on the beat to prevent them in the first place."

Truth doesn’t need a loud voice but an ideology needs noise, and plenty of it 

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is tentatively taking steps to admit that men are, after all, different to women.

Optimists are hopeful that at some stage the IOC will also declare without fear or favour that the Earth isn’t flat either.

But for the moment we must be content with baby steps here. After years of cowardice masquerading as ‘inclusiveness’, this epically unethical outfit is tiptoeing its way back to biological reality, having realised which way the wind is now blowing.

On Monday last reports emerged that the inner chamber of the five-ringed casino might be in the process of banning men who identify as women from women’s competition. In June the new IOC president, Zimbabwe’s Kirsty Coventry, had commissioned a scientific review of the evidence.

Having won seven Olympic medals in swimming, Coventry herself would hardly have needed much scientific research to know why male and female athletes had separate competitive categories. The reasons were so obvious that a child would have understood them. The reasons were as old as humankind itself.

And we doubt Coventry would have been entirely happy if she’d had to compete in the pool with men who’d declared themselves to be women; and then to find that she’d have to share a locker room with them too for the business of togging out and togging in. These were and remain fundamental violations of fairness and privacy.

Coventry knew this all along, of course. So did all the other passengers on the IOC’s five-star gravy train. The whole world of sport knew it. The whole world, full stop, knew it.

The gender ideology racket was and is the Emperor’s New Clothes of the 21st century. Hans Christian Andersen’s famous fable was first published in 1837. One read it in childhood but even then it seemed to have a basic plausibility problem: surely so many people could not be so stupid as to believe that the emperor parading through the streets was actually wearing the most beautiful new fashions, given that he was wearing no clothes at all?

You concluded in your innocence that it was a quaint story of its time. Since then we’d had Darwin and Marie Curie and Einstein, aviation and penicillin and the motor car, the atomic age and DNA and computers and the internet and artificial intelligence.

After a century of astonishing scientific achievement, surely a biological reality that is one of human life’s very building blocks was proven beyond doubt. The age of empiricism, science and reason had banished swathes of superstitions and irrational beliefs. And anyway, one didn’t need to be Einstein to know that man is man, woman is woman, and the Earth is round.

But hark, somewhere out there in the secret laboratories of the left-wing hypocrisy complex, a cry went up; they had made a discovery that was revealed only to them, the true believers. Like Archimedes shouting “Eureka!”, this tiny cabal of zealots had its own slogan for its own divine revelation: “Transwomen are women!” Let the word spread far and wide from this day forward: “Transwomen are women!”

And slowly but surely an outside world that was going about its business started picking up this discourse on the bush telegraph, in between going to work and washing the children and making the dinner. And most of us were silently thinking, what fresh madness is this now?

We were still only getting our heads around the ever-lengthening list of vowels and consonants for gay people, which will soon enough be longer than the alphabet itself. And now we were hearing more and more talk of transgender this and transgender that and transgender the other.

It came with its own jargon too, the better to confuse and intimidate us. This of course is a time-honoured strategy deployed for millennia already by religions and the law. Where once we had plain old lesbians and homosexuals, we now have LGBTIQCAPGNGFNBA. If it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, it’s because it’s not supposed to. Keeping the terminology obscure is a way of keeping you in your place. The preachers prefer to have sole command of the language; it helps to keep the flock quiet and cowed.

And in the gender ideology battle of the last 10 years, the flock has been introduced to a new gospel containing phrases that sound scientific but are more like accusations. You are no longer merely male or female, boy or girl, lad or lass; instead you are “cisgender”, “heteronormative”, a “gender binary” pleb. In this brave new world, to be born heterosexual is almost akin to being born with a form of original sin for the secular age. And like original sin, you should accept you are guilty as charged from the day you came into the world.

Citizens have been lectured into a new vocabulary such as “gender dysphoria”, “gender self-identification”, “preferred pronouns”, “pregnant people”, “assigned male at birth”, “assigned female at birth”, “pre-operative transsexual”, “post-operative transsexual”, and so on. We’ve been trying to tiptoe across this linguistic minefield, anxious not to give offence, even more anxious not to incur the wrath of the new vigilantes waiting to pounce on your innocent mistakes.

Truth doesn’t need a loud voice because it’s inviolable. It has its own sovereign integrity. But an ideology needs noise, and plenty of it. It needs propaganda and policing and anger. It needs zealots to chase down heretics and publicly scourge them. Sadly, it cannot nowadays physically torture dissidents, as in the grand old days of the Spanish Inquisition, but it can economically destroy them by driving them out of their jobs, and psychologically destroy them by hounding them on social media, where vast mobs are available at the touch of a button to hunt down the fugitive.

And if your ideology happens to be scientifically risible, then by Jaysus you are going to need an army of fanatics to impose it on society. There is no room for milk-and-water followers here. Because this is a big job. In fact, as Helen Joyce writes in her 2023 book Trans, it is asking for nothing less than “a total rewrite of societal rules”.

And if you’re intent on driving a coach through “the legal and societal order”, it helps if the horses pulling the coach can be labelled Diversity, Inclusion, Equality and Empathy. The four gospels of the new Testament of Tolerance, the Matthew, Mark, Luke and John of the holy and apostolic Church of Utopia. After all, everyone is in favour of empathy and compassion and general decency. But the professional craw-thumpers of this creed tend to get high on their own supply.

As with many clerics of many faiths, the preachers of this dogma have gotten fond of the ego trip. The urge to tell people what to think, what to say and what to do, will always appeal to those who enjoy a frisson of power and control. Better still if you can disguise your authoritarian streak behind a veneer of righteous tolerance. You have the luxury of behaving with gratifying intolerance under the guise of tolerance.

They are backed, too, by academics in gender studies, queer theory and allied fields, and by pharmaceutical and health-care industries, which have woken up to the fortunes to be made from ‘gender-affirmative’ medicine. This powerful new lobby far outnumbers the trans people it claims to speak for. And it serves their interests very poorly.”

Indeed, the actual numbers of trans people are so tiny, and the crusade around them so disproportionately maniacal, that one often wondered if it really was about trans rights at all. Is the trans issue just another wedge with which to attack the conservative middle ground that holds societies together?

Anyway, whenever they appeared online, in print, on television and radio, the rage of trans activists was unmistakable. They were The Furies of Greek mythology reincarnated, the goddesses of vengeance and wrath. And all along they were, and still are, commanding us to believe that black is white, that up is down, that two and two is five. Biology was just another bourgeois construct. Yes, the Emperor is wearing beautiful clothes although he is bollock naked; yes, the Emperor is a woman, even if his balls are swinging between his knees as he cavorts down the high street.

And Imane Khelif is a woman too, even when Angela Carini swore afterwards that she’d never felt punching power like it before. Carini is the Italian boxer who quit after 46 seconds against the Algerian Khelif in the Olympic games last year. “In highly-charged scenes at the North Palais Arena,” reported Seán Ingle for the Guardian from ringside, “a first punch from Khelif dislodged Carini’s chinstrap and a second smashed against her chin and bloodied her shorts. After multiple punches Carini returned to her corner and raised her hand. She fell to her knees sobbing and refused to shake Khelif’s hand after the Algerian was declared the winner.”

The controversy generated such an outcry that it may have become a tipping point for the IOC, and indeed sport in general. Khelif had been disqualified from the World Championships in 2023 for failing a testosterone test. He won gold at the Olympics. In May of this year World Boxing introduced mandatory sex testing for all competitions under its aegis. Khelif refused to undergo the test and did not enter the World Championships in September. But man, he still feels like a woman, not unlike Shania Twain perhaps.

In sport and in society, the tide is starting to turn. But the transition, as it were, will probably be long and painful as The Furies continue to vent their rage. Eventually however, the tide always turns because nature has to have her way. King Canute tried to turn the waves back too, once upon a time. Debunking Cato - "Just three days after the public assassination of conservative debate king Charlie Kirk, the tasteless lackwit Alex Nowrasteh of CATO proudly debuted his database of politically motivated violence, making much of a supposedly massive gap in fatalities between so-called right wing vs left wing violence.  In the chaotic days that followed, it received massive publicity. A “right wing” think tank conveniently confirming everyone’s priors at the exact moment it was desperately desired.  If you’ve read my previous work, you’ll know I was immediately suspicious. A quick skim for familiar names told me everything- yet another carefully crafted bit of bespoke propaganda.  As is the way with these pieces, a ham-fisted attempt was made to justify the exclusion of a great many acts of violence from the political left, while including many absolute absurdities in the “right wing” column.  I’m not going into the weeds trying to parse Nowrasteh’s supposed methodology, which he fails to adhere to, anyway. It’s sufficient to note that much like Everytown including BB gun incidents as “school shootings,” his criteria do not align with public perception of what constitutes political violence.  There is also the wholly arbitrary decision to begin counting in 1975, a decision likely undertaken to avoid counting the obscene number of attacks by radical leftists in the prior decade, while still including fatalities from the Oklahoma City bombing... I am including killings by Neonazis, et al, but not gendered hate, as there is no evidence of political belief motive in the latter. (Exceptions for manifestos with explicit politics) Inceldom, likewise.  Unlike Nowrasteh, I am also including anti-white and anti-Jewish killings by black nationalists and adherents of the Nation of Islam, Black Hebrew Israelites, and similar groups with explicitly political, anti-white or antisemitic views.  I reject the bizarre premise that racism in and of itself is a right wing phenomenon, or that groups affiliated with racist black organizations cannot be counted because leftism rejects racism — an absurd and circular argument.  I am not including internecine squabbles, or like-on-like violence, unless committed during an overt political action... In addition to sloppy methodology, this list is riddled with simple counting mistakes, all of which predictably accumulate in one direction. These include inflated fatalities, un-indicted perpetrators,double-counting, acquittals etc... Numerous events are misclassified, either by affiliation of the perpetrators, or by political intent.  Alex has been made aware of his mistakes, but has refused to acknowledge or correct them... Misclassified: Robert Justus, et al. Marked as a "right wing" "white supremacist" "boogaloo."  This speaks to the incurious nature of Nowrasteh and others who frequently slot boogaloos as RW, despite them being libertarian accelerationists who despise both left and right politics... It should be obvious at this point that it is extremely easy to manipulate the numbers via sloppy accounting and highly creative methodology (Racist violence only counts in one direction! Domestic violence is political — but only if the perp is “right wing.” Personal beliefs in unrelated murders/crimes only count in one direction!  Anyone anti-government is by definition right wing! If we don’t release the manifesto, it didn’t happen! Communists are foreign actors, anti-communists are right wing!)
The most obviously egregious bullshit:
-Arbitrarily beginning the list just after a decade of some of the worst leftist violence the US has ever seen -but just before a decade of unusually high rw violence, neatly excising dozens of killings and other violence by a variety of extremist groups.
-The decision to exclude Jonestown- the largest mass murder of Americans outside of 9/11 (including the assassination of a US Congressman) by an American leftist with extensive political connections, merely because the killer relocated his operation to avoid legal scrutiny. Disgusting.

Worth noting this time period includes date of sentencing, not date of incident.  There were 26 cases listed. 7 were dismissible outright. I’ll get into those in this thread.  In addition to the 7 dismissible ones, two were prison violence by white prison gangs. The database tracks no other racial gang violence. One was a dispute over littering that lead to violence, the guy was white his neighbor Mexican this was also marked as right wing violence. Two cases were guys putting hateful stickers around town, definitely political and hateful, but they were stickers… One was a Chinese man who had a hit list of people, mostly dems but his motives seemed to be anti-USA and was targeting the current administration. Then there were two firearm charges, white supremacists charged with converting rifles to full auto. They were white supremacists, but their crime had nothing to do with ideology. So I would categorize these 8 as questionable.
Right off the bat, two of the cases were people arrested and charged for protesting peacefully at abortion clinics. The inclusion of these should be enough to throw out the rest of the data as worthless. Next we have an armed robbery targeting Mexicans. The armed robbers were black… this was counted as three different events since there were multiple perps. Idk if the forth perp was charged he wasn’t on the list. This one was the defacement of a Catholic Church by a rabid leftist. Complete category error. Muslim hating Jews… again complete category error.
So out of the random sample of 26: 7 were false and 8 questionable. 58% failure rate. In the same time period there were only two cases they counted for left wing violence. Both were pretty clear cut examples. Keep in mind they included right wing peaceful protests, stickers, and vandalism which according to this list the left doesn’t do lol.

The leftist judge in the case rejected prosecutors’ request for a multi-decade sentence, giving the defense team the very lenient sentence they’d sought. The leftist judge, in her reasoning, cited the criminal’s trans identity as a factor & expressed happiness that the assassination plot and its aftermath helped with the criminal’s family therapy around the trans issue.
And also (3) yet another violent leftist attack — this time an apparent ambush — against federal immigration officers. This did not take place in Dallas, where a leftist sniper very recently went on a deadly spree while trying to murder as many ICE officers as possible. This one happened in Illinois, where the leftist governor just called these officers “jack booted thugs.” Violent attacks on these federal agents (thugs, fascists, gestapo, per various leading leftist politicians) are up approximately *one thousand percent,* per DHS.
And also (4) a prominent university being pressured into reversing its attempt to shut down a conservative event commemorating the second anniversary of the Oct 7 terrorist massacre of Jews — because, the school said, they were worried about the security situation around the event. They were referring, of course, to the violent Islamist-Leftist coalition pro-Hamas mob, which has engaged in harassment, threats, violence and murder ever since that mass slaughter.
