Labour council leader resigns after ‘calling grooming gang victims white trash’ - "A Labour council leader who appeared to call Rotherham grooming gang victims “white trash” has been forced to resign.  Dennis Jones was suspended by Peterborough’s Labour group following the revelation of his WhatsApp message to a young woman.  Independent councillor Daisy Blakemore-Creedon, 19, said she received the comment last month after writing to him: “I care about safety, and why should immigration put women’s safety at risk[?].”  On her X account, she shared a screenshot of a message labelled from Mr Jones, which read: “Oh so white British cops f---ing poor white trash in Rotherham is OK, is it? Labour minister Lucy Powell sorry over grooming gangs 'dog whistle' remark - "Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell has sought to clarify her remarks after she appeared to describe grooming gangs as a "dog whistle" issue, prompting a backlash from political opponents.  During a heated debate on BBC Radio 4's Any Questions on Friday, commentator and Reform UK member Tim Montgomerie asked Powell if she had seen a recent Channel 4 documentary on grooming gangs.  Powell responded "oh, we want to blow that little trumpet now do we" and "let's get that dog whistle out shall we"."

In a particularly eye-popping passage in Casey’s report, she reveals how the word “Pakistani” was Tippexed out of one child victim’s file.  While there is no doubt that a diversity of ethnicities and faiths are involved in these gangs, the use of the term “Asian” in connection to them has long masked the ever-mounting evidence that it is men of Pakistani Muslim origin specifically who are vastly overrepresented among perpetrators of these heinous sex crimes. A 2020 academic study by professors Kish Bhatti-Sinclair and Charles Sutcliffe, based on data consisting of 498 defendants across 73 prosecutions between 1997 and 2017, found that Muslims – particularly Pakistanis – dominated prosecutions for group-localised child sexual exploitation (GLCSE).  Indeed, it concluded that Pakistani and Muslim proportions of the local population are “powerful variables” in explaining the level of GLCSE prosecutions in an area. Meanwhile, the proportion of Bangladeshis and Indians in a local area had no effect. In fact, the proportion of Hindus in a local area had a negative impact on the levels of GLCSE prosecutions. Using the term “Asian” is incredibly unhelpful in this context. Gujarati Hindus, Goan Catholics, and Punjabi Sikhs should not be conflated with the men perpetrating these crimes. It is time for us to shine a light on the poorly integrated Muslim communities originating from Mirpur in Azad Kashmir, which have formed patriarchal clans along kinship lines – known as “biraderi”. These Mirpuri grooming gangs have shown an ugly side of family solidarity, multi-generational cohesion and tight-knit community networks: this is the dark underbelly of modern multicultural Britain... some accounts of this sexual violence and brutality would not be out of place in history books on the campaign of systematic rape and torture against Bangladeshi women and girls by the Pakistani forces during the 1971 Liberation War... Grooming gangs: Suella Braverman demands apology from Ipso after being 'vilified and cancelled' over rape gangs comments - "Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman has demanded an apology from the Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) over a 2023 ruling that required a correction to her comments about grooming gangs.  Speaking to GB News presenter Martin Daubney, Braverman said she would be writing to Ipso requesting they retract their decision, which found her claim that UK child grooming gangs were made up of "almost all British-Pakistani men" was misleading.  "I'd like an apology. I don't want an apology for me. I want an apology for the victims," Braverman said.  The Conservative MP insisted Ipso's ruling was "erroneous" and said she would cite findings from Baroness Casey that "unequivocally say that the 2020 Home Office report was wrong and misleading, and should never have been relied upon by Ipso"... "We found that the ethnicity of perpetrators is shied away from and is still not recorded for two-thirds of perpetrators, so we are unable to provide any accurate assessment from the nationally collected data".  However, it added that at a local level for three police forces - Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire - there was enough evidence to show a "disproportionate numbers of men from Asian ethnic backgrounds amongst suspects for group-based child sexual exploitation". Cooper said: "Ignoring the issues, not examining and exposing them to the light, allows the criminality and depravity of a minority of men to be used to marginalise whole communities."  In a later interview, Lady Casey said the data should be investigated as it was "only helping the bad people" not to give a full picture of the situation, adding: "You're doing a disservice to two sets of population, the Pakistani and Asian heritage community, and victims."  The report concluded that ignorance and a fear of being seen as racist meant organisations tasked with protecting children turned a blind eye to abuse. "We found many examples of organisations avoiding the topic altogether for fear of appearing racist, raising community tensions or causing community cohesion problems," the report said.  The audit criticised the "failure" of the authorities to "understand" the nature and scale of the problem to date."

Rotherham police accused of preparing false document after father arrested while attempting to rescue daughter from grooming gangs - "Police officers incorrectly produced a custody sheet for an arrest that never happened, according to the father of a grooming gangs’ victim.  He believes the records may have been falsified in order to cover up two separate arrests when he was trying to rescue his daughter from a grooming gang den in Rotherham. South Yorkshire Police has confirmed it has launched an investigation into the case.   Jack, not his real name, is the father of Elizabeth, also a pseudonym, who was abused by gangs of rapists in a flat in Rotherham for 10 weeks in 2005.  She was lured to the house by Shafina Ali, a white woman who converted to Islam, before being exploited, raped and abused by countless men in the building, across Rotherham, and also elsewhere in the country after being trafficked. Like many Rotherham parents, Jack knew his daughter was being exploited and desperately sought police support. He told GB News that he made hundreds of reports to South Yorkshire Police about her being missing.  But instead of the force sufficiently investigating the issue, Jack claimed that they arrested him twice as he tried to rescue his daughter from the den.  On the first occasion, he said he went to the flat, was arrested and then swiftly de-arrested at his nearby address and told not to go back.  However, he ignored this guidance and returned to the building where Elizabeth was being held. He claimed that he started kicking the door and shouting. He said that he was arrested again, only this time he was taken to Rotherham police station... The police record, accessed in June 2021, has written that Jack’s address and age are inconsistent with what was accurate for that period.  The listed address is a property that Jack did not live at until 2010.  GB News has had sight of council tax records supplied by the local authority which demonstrate that Jack lived at a different property around the period of the alleged arrests.  Jack told GB News that he believes this was a mistake made by the police as they retrospectively developed the custody sheet for what he described as a false arrest record... “As we all know about Rotherham, we were told we was the only family going through this. We reported it over 200 times over months. We were told: ‘it’s you and your wife’s bad parenting because it's only happening to you’.”"
