Zohran Mamdani could be heading for a shock defeat in New York - "I’ve covered Mamdani closely since he wowed New York with his come-from-behind primary win in the summer. I also spent a few months working as a communications adviser for current mayor Eric Adams who, despite what I believed was his clear superiority over both Cuomo and Mamdani, dropped out of the race in late September. One thing I gleaned from both positions is that Mamdani is a weak man and even weaker candidate. The mainstream media and a large part of New York’s herd-like electorate might have been blinded by his youthful verve and nifty social media wins. But that fundamental fact about Mamdani remains true. My time with the Adams campaign also made clear that a record-breaking turnout is likely to hurt Mamdani. He has done well thus far by mobilising a relatively small group of highly energised supporters, but a higher turnout could bring to the polls less politically-active voters who do not subscribe to his divisive positions. And it appears via analysis of initial voting data that voter turnout for this election could be unprecedented. Since early voting opened last weekend, nearly 400,000 New Yorkers have cast their ballots, considerably more than the equivalent figure in 2021. The way we saw it during my time with Adams, there has always been a finite number of Mamdani voters – and a relative limit to his appeal. There are only so many hipsters and progressives and queers for Palestine and #hotgirlsformamdani out there. And they mostly made their presence known during the primary. Of course, Mamdani has worked hard to expand his voter base and he’s certainly succeeded in doing that. But there are still plenty of New Yorkers who aren’t buying what he is selling. And they’re eager to make their voices known... Already some polls seem to have narrowed. Some have seen his lead over Cuomo shrink by half, while influential digital prediction market platform Polymarket declared this week that his odds of succeeding had “collapsed” and that Mamdani could very well lose the race."
Elica Le Bon الیکا ل بن on X - "Do you know why Khomeini promising free everything—free electricity, free water, free transportation, free housing—was so successful in mobilization the Iranian revolution, just like Mamdani’s “free everything” is mobilizing an American revolution now? Because those promises aren’t about delivery, but the psychology of control. In totalitarian movements, the promise of all things good creates something called an “infallible environment.” The infallible environment or movement is something upon which total moral purity is projected. Nothing is more morally pure than feeding the hungry and housing the unhoused. Once the infallible environment has been constructed, anybody who opposes it is considered morally corrupt. Then, the movement doesn’t have to destroy them. Society erases them as illegitimate. The movement automatically erases every roadblock by its appearance of virtue. “But how do you know that this movement isn’t actually for the betterment of mankind?” Because it’s advancing democratic socialism, which is purely theoretical and has never been achieved because it’s an oxymoron. In reality, the dictionary definition of democratic socialism is the total elimination of capitalism, which means the collapse of liberal democracies, which are the only system under which humans can thrive. In its place, only mass murder and history’s greatest famines have ensued. In the real world, liberal democracies protect the individual’s interest, and individualism is the only buffer against tyranny. The Founding Fathers understood this well, and that is why people vote with their feet to be here more than anywhere else in the world. Not places where the socialist experiment burnt everything to the ground. So do you see the illusion now? The movement that has historically only brought harm is perceived as good, while those fighting to preserve the only thing shown to produce good are reimagined as evil. That’s the psychology of control."

Exclusive | Zohran Mamdani flashes beaming smile in pic with Uganda bigwig who pushed law to put gay people in jail for life - "Mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani flashed a beaming smile in a cringeworthy photo with a top Ugandan official who pushed harsh anti-LGBT policies — that included life imprisonment for gay people. Mamdani met with Rebecca Kadaga in July during a break from the campaign trail — after winning the Democratic primary — that included a lavish celebration of his recent nuptials at a secluded Ugandan compound owned by his family... The Mamdani campaign was left scrambling Sunday as photos of the meeting re-emerged, as a spokesperson claimed the democratic socialist candidate was “unaware” of Kadaga’s widely reported status as an anti-gay crusader. In 2012, then-Speaker Kadaga infamously said she was passing a draconian law imposing severe penalties against practicing homosexuals as a “Christmas gift” for supporters of the measure. “Ugandans want that law as a Christmas gift. They have asked for it and we’ll give them that gift,” Kadaga said then. Then-President Barack Obama called the legislation “odious.” Kadaha has been the first deputy prime minister since 2021, following a 10-year stint as the powerful parliament speaker. In 2024, the Ugandan government passed a law that further criminalizes LGBT people... Mamdani’s camp said it didn’t know Kadaga was the “architect” of Uganda’s vicious anti-LGBT law... Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who’s running for mayor as an independent against Mamdani, blasted his rival for the awkward photo — and tore into him for the explanation. “And as we’ve learned, if he’s smiling, he’s lying,” said Cuomo, who as governor approved the state’s gay marriage law and other pro-LGBT legislation. He noted the photo was taken around the time of a mass shooting on Park Avenue in Manhattan that resulted in the death of an NYPD officer. “Mamdani now claims he didn’t know who she was. That is laughable,” Cuomo went on. “Kadaga’s crusade against Uganda’s LGBTQ community has been condemned around the world for well over a decade. Any serious public official, particularly one from Uganda, would know exactly who she is.” Cuomo asked how a self-proclaimed progressive candidate for New York City — the birthplace of the Stonewall gay civil rights movement — found himself “smiling beside one of the most notorious anti-LGBTQ figures on the planet?” And, he added, “how does he maintain dual citizenship in a country that criminalizes people simply for who they love?” “New Yorkers deserve a mayor who stands on principle – not one who hides behind excuses. Zohran Mamdani has shown one quality time and again: duplicity,” Cuomo said. Some gay activists expressed outrage that Mamdani warmly greeted a gay hater. Chris Lynn, a co-founder of the Stonewall Democratic Club, the city’s first citywide LGBT club, wasn’t buying Mamdani’s explanation that he didn’t know who Kadaga was. “He’s either a liar or incredibly ill-informed. Oh, come on! No one thinks he’s that ill-informed,” Lynn said."

Yehuda Teitelbaum on X - "🚨 EXPLOSIVE: A new investigation has uncovered that Mahmood Mamdani, Columbia professor and father of NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, sits on the advisory council of the Gaza Tribunal alongside Ramy Abdu, a designated Hamas operative. The tribunal’s recent Istanbul conference featured terror-linked speakers, including Sami Al-Arian (convicted of aiding Palestinian Islamic Jihad), Raji Sourani (former PFLP member who met Hamas leaders), and Sahar Francis, whose NGO was designated by the U.S. Treasury as a PFLP affiliate. The Gaza Tribunal, which claims to be a human rights initiative, includes multiple former UN officials and Western academics who shared a stage with individuals tied to Hamas and other U.S.-designated terror groups. Abdu, who sits next to Mamdani on the advisory council, is documented as having close family ties to senior Hamas operatives and once appeared in photos with Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Muhammad al-Jamassi. This means the father of a New York mayoral candidate was advising an organization run by and featuring known terrorists, Hamas affiliates, and UN insiders. How many more of these networks are quietly operating in Western academic and political spaces while hiding behind “human rights” rhetoric? Will any reporter bother to ask Zohran about this? I doubt it. Anything to say @ZohranKMamdani ?"

We’re gonna fly people in and pay for their hotel rooms.” In one video posted to social media, he explains how the New York branch of the DSA has been working directly with the Mamdani campaign on his “trans-rights platform.” “We collaborated with the Zohran Mamdani campaign on his trans-rights platform, and what we explicitly wanted to do was use the power of New York City to provide free gender-affirming care—and I say free in case insurance companies decide to boot us off—free gender affirming care not just to people in New York City but across the country.” “DSA has regular meetings with him, let alone his team,” Goulden continues...
