The social media posts, prosecutors said, were meant as warnings. “Their criminal activity included spray painting threats, breaking windows, and throwing glass jars filled with noxious chemicals into family homes,” the indictment reads. “They marked their victims with threatening symbols used by Hamas, including red inverted triangles and red handprints. They used the internet and social media to broadcast their message to ensure their threats and commitment to continuing criminal activity were heard by their victims and others who support Israel.”... The prime minister said the council will “co-ordinate a whole-of-federal-government approach to antisemitism,” ensuring that “federal policies, workplaces, public safety programs and community initiatives are aligned in protecting Jewish-Canadians, confronting hate and promoting inclusion.” He did not mention whether his own government’s past funding of antisemitism would be investigated. Miller’s department has been responsible for funding antisemitism on multiple occasions. Last year, the Department of Canadian Heritage gave just under $100,000 to Toronto Palestinian Families, an antisemitic group, under the guise of fighting antisemitism; and $61,000 to a cultural festival in New Brunswick on the same day that an Israel booth was attacked, after the organizers failed to provide it with proper security. It’s also worth noting that the same department, under former minister Pablo Rodriguez, provided $133,800 to noted antisemite Laith Marouf’s Community Media Advocacy Centre. Miller is the last person who should be chairing a council on antisemitism, given his department’s funding history. Another member of the council is Omar Alghabra, the one-time president of the Canadian Arab Federation, an organization that, following his tenure, lost its federal funding for supporting terrorist groups. The CBC didn’t share these details with its readers (though it did publish an article on the backlash against the makeup of the council after this article was originally published). Rather than naming where Jew-hatred comes from, the prime minister wasted time with history lessons, discussing the hate faced by a variety of groups and even mentioning Islamophobia, which CBC defended as only being done “in passing.” In an announcement that was supposed to be dedicated to him convincing Jewish-Canadians that he’s serious about antisemitism, he said, “Differences generate friction. Accommodation of competing claims is real work. We will always have our legitimate debates about where the lines properly fall. When did they realize things had changed? How did they know that what was happening around them was not temporary? At what point did leaving stop being unthinkable and start becoming necessary? At the time, it felt like a historical question, the kind of thing you wonder about but never expect to apply to your own life. Today, around Shabbat tables across Canada, a different version of that same question is being asked: If things continue on this path, where would we go? That question alone should alarm every Canadian. Not because people are packing their bags tomorrow. Most are not. But because the answers are already being discussed. Florida. Texas. Panama. Israel. For most Canadian Jews, these are not vacation destinations in this conversation. They are possibilities. They are options. They are what has come to be known as Plan B. And that is what many Canadians do not understand. Canadian Jews never had a Plan B. We were not constantly looking over our shoulders. We were not maintaining contingency plans. We were not quietly preparing escape routes. Canada was the plan. For generations, Canadian Jews believed they had found what previous generations could only dream of: a country where they could live openly as Jews, build businesses, raise families, contribute to society and know that their future was secure. Canada was Plan A. Canada was also Plan B. That assumption is beginning to crack. Since October 7, Canadian Jews have watched Jewish schools being shot at, synagogues being firebombed, community centres being targeted, university campuses becoming hostile environments, and antisemitic incidents reaching levels that would have been unimaginable only a few years ago. Equally damaging has been the response. Too often, Jewish concerns have been treated as political complications rather than urgent warnings. Too often, institutions have appeared more interested in managing optics than confronting reality. The result is not panic. It is something far more significant. It is doubt. In recent days, I have heard more discussion about Plan B than at any other point since October 7. Ironically, it came after the prime minister’s announcement on antisemitism and the creation of a new council tasked with addressing it. The announcement was intended to reassure Canadian Jews. Instead, for many, it had the opposite effect. Not because Canadian Jews oppose efforts to combat antisemitism. We have been demanding action for nearly three years. The concern is that the announcement acknowledged the symptoms while largely avoiding the cause. Many Jews listened to the prime minister’s remarks and then looked at the council itself. They saw only one Jewish member. They saw appointees whose records and public positions have generated significant concern within the Jewish community. They were left asking a simple question: How exactly does this fight antisemitism?... Over the past two years, I have spoken with families who have moved to Florida. Others have relocated to Texas. Some have made Aliyah and built new lives in Israel. Others have explored residency options in Panama. Business owners have quietly shifted assets. Parents have researched foreign universities. Young professionals have investigated career opportunities abroad. None of these people fit a stereotype. They are religious and secular. Conservative, Reform, Orthodox, and everything in between. Some are lifelong Zionists. Others are not particularly political. Some were born in Canada. Others are children or grandchildren of immigrants. What unites them is not ideology. It is uncertainty. I know young people who increasingly view Israel not simply as a place they visit, but as a place they may one day live. My own son talks about Israel as his landing place. That is not something I expected to hear from a Canadian Jewish kid growing up in the 21st century. Yet here we are. The conversation has become so common that some organizations have begun openly discussing it. The Tafsik Organization has introduced Canadian Jews to opportunities in Panama through a program they explicitly call “Plan B.” Think about that for a moment. The very existence of a program called Plan B for Canadian Jews would have seemed bizarre just a few years ago. Today, it barely raises an eyebrow. That should concern everyone. Because societies do not begin losing people when they leave. They begin losing people when those people start thinking about leaving. When successful professionals begin exploring alternatives. When families begin researching options. When parents begin wondering whether their children might have a better future somewhere else. When people who have spent their entire lives believing they belong begin asking themselves questions they never imagined they would have to ask."

A Return to Andalusia - "The collapse of Israeli-Palestinian agreements from the 1993 Oslo Accords until today stems from the fact that both Israeli and US leaders ignore the real root of the conflict. The heart of the conflict is the denial of the existence – and not the size – of any non-Muslim entity on land that, in the eyes of Muslims, is Waqf – an inalienable religious land endowment. On Jan. 9, 2012, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, a close associate of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, stated that all of Israel has been Waqf since 637 C.E. and will be forever. The statement was made at the annual rally of Fatah, which Abbas heads. It was broadcast on the official Mahmoud Abbas television station, and called for the killing of Jews to hasten the Islamic Resurrection. The message of the Mufti has become rooted in the Palestinian consciousness, with the help of Mahmoud Abbas’ educational system. The Muslim Golden Age did not take place between the Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea, but rather in Andalusia, especially in the Alhambra palace/fortress in Granada. At the beginning of the 8th century, the Muslims conquered the Iberian Peninsula, southern France, Sicily and the Italian coastline and declared it “the Abode of Islam.” In 1492, Spain was liberated from the occupation by Muslims, who today still view “Al-Andalus” as Waqf. The March 2004 Muslim terrorist plots in Madrid, which murdered 191 people and wounded around 1,800, intended to rectify the “Injustice of Andalusia.” Currently, Saudi Arabia is constructing the second largest mosque in the world in Cordoba, the former capital of Andalusia, while mosques proliferate all over Spain. Prof. Efraim Karsh, Head of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Studies at King’s College in London, writes in his book “Islamic Imperialism” (Yale University Press, 2007): “In 1980, there was a huge map in Afghanistan on which large parts of what was then Soviet Central Asia and China’s Xinjiang Province were labeled ‘Temporarily Occupied Muslim Territory….’ Dr. Yusuf Qaradawi, a spiritual guide of the Muslim Brothers [reiterated the message of Muhammad that] the city of Hirqil [Constantinopol] will be conquered first … The other city Romiyya [Rome] … we hope and believe that it too will be conquered … That means that Islam will return to Europe as a conqueror.” Recognition of foreign sovereignty over Muslim Waqf land amounts to humiliation, betrayal and servitude for Arabs and Muslims. Prophet Muhammad’s Treaty of Hudaybiyya – which underscores the shifty nature of contemporary Arab policies in general and the “Phased Plan” in particular – Muslims are permitted to conclude tactical agreements that temporarily relinquish Waqf land, but never abandon the overarching, permanent strategy of reclaiming it all at a later stage. Persisting in the “land-for-peace” policy ignores the roots of Arab hostility; repeats – rather than avoids – past mistakes; plays into the hands of our enemies; raises Arab expectations and exacerbates violence and terrorism in the region."
