No wonder the NHS is in crisis when nurses are forced to deny biology - "It has meant an inordinate amount of time has been taken up catering to the needs of a tiny number of staff and patients at the expense of other services. All of this would stop if Keir Starmer and Phillipson (the most recent politician trying to block rules protecting safe spaces for women) do what they are supposed to do and implement the Supreme Court judgment instead of running scared. Most of it is simple common sense and anyone who has actually done any “caring” would not be raising spurious objections to it. It is fundamentally about maintaining single-sex spaces for women. And in hospitals, where women are vulnerable, this is important."

Academic threatens to sue university after pro-trans students disrupted talk - "An academic has threatened to sue a university after pro-trans activists turned her speech into a “zombie apocalypse”. Prof Alice Sullivan said the University of Bristol failed to protect her right to freedom of speech at a talk on sex, data and research in October. The University College London academic, who led a government review earlier this year that demanded public bodies collect data on biological sex as well as gender identity, has also written to the Office for Students (OfS). Prof Sullivan told The Telegraph that the event at Bristol’s School for Policy Studies on Oct 22 descended into chaos after demonstrators held up placards reading “Trans Lives Matters”, set off multiple fire alarms and shouted “shame on you” at her as she left the event... Lawyers for Prof Sullivan have now written to the university warning that she is willing to bring a legal challenge against it for failing to protect her right to academic freedom. A letter before action claims the University of Bristol failed to properly advertise the event, banned undergraduates from attending and neglected to take reasonable steps to ensure it was not disrupted. Protesters also impeded the entrance to the venue and intimidated some of the 20 or so attendees that managed to gain access, the 42-page document added... The sociology professor said it was disappointing that the sector had failed to heed the case of Prof Kathleen Stock as a “turning point” for free speech on campus and the treatment of academics discussing sex and gender. The University of Sussex was fined a record £585,000 earlier this year after the OfS ruled that it had failed to protect the philosophy lecturer from being hounded out of her job over her gender-critical views. Girl with suspected autism faces 12-match ban for asking transgender opponent: Are you a man? - "A girl footballer with suspected autism is facing a ban of up to 12 matches for asking an adult transgender opponent: “Are you a man?” In the latest case to raise major questions about the Football Association’s ongoing failure to ban those born male from the women’s game, the 17-year-old has been left distraught at being charged by her county FA over a remark made during a match against a trans-inclusive club. She was charged last month with saying, “Are you a man?”, “That’s a man”, “Don’t come here again”, or similar comments during what was a pre-season friendly back in July. In documents seen by Telegraph Sport, the girl admits asking a player she describes as having “a beard”, “Are you a man?” She also admits asking the referee for guidance about the player’s eligibility to participate in women’s football “given my concern for my safety after already suffering a number of overly physical challenges”. So doctors really only began getting significant experience treating these patients within about the past 11-13 years. Johanna Olson-Kennedy’s study has data on 8 years of treatment, but has only published data on the first 2 years. Wolfe also overlooks the glaring fact that there are grave professional penalties for expressing concerns about this medical field or expressing any statements that fall outside of the new orthodoxy. Byrne’s wife, evolutionaey biologist Carole Hooven, after all, was drummed out of Harvard for saying sex is binary. So there are many factors outside of insouciance that might contribute to the silence of which Byrne, an MIT philosopher, and Gorin, a Colorado State University bioethicist, speak.
