Links - 28th November 2025 (1 [including Qatar Influence, Overtourism])

Wilfred Reilly on X - "Worth a read. Qatar sort of is what normies think Israel is, re media influence."

Eyal Yakoby on X - "Qatar is paying $80,000 a month to former congressmen Jim Moran, Tom McMillen, Tom Davis, and Tom Reynolds to lobby Congress and polish its image. All of the “Qatar solidarity” is bought and paid for."

Muslim Brotherhood and Qatar have established extensive network across Canada: report - "The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist organization that has declared “jihad against the Jews,” has established a vast network of charities and fundraising across Canada, a new think-tank report finds... Qatar gave McGill University in Montreal a $1.25 million gift for its Islamic studies program in 2012, and created a collaboration between Qatar Airways and the school’s Institute for Air and Space Law.  Qatar’s financial reach extends beyond academia and into the Canadian charitable realm. The CRA audit of the Muslim Association of Canada found that the organization received more than $1 million from Qatar Charity, which ISGAP describes as a “state-owned organization,” in 2012. The foreign group gave nearly $2.5 million to help buy land and build the Islamic Community Centre of Ontario, the Canada Revenue Agency found during its investigation.  The report argues that the financial power Qatar wields across Canada could influence how university administrators discipline antisemitism on campus and influence the message of religious figures in Muslim communities.  The consequences of Canadian inaction, “due in no small part to a lack of political will,” the report argues, “has now become a major national security issue that requires serious scrutiny.”"

Open Source Intel on X - "🔴🔴🔴  Qatar’s $100 Billion Pipeline to American Universities Exposed  Charles Small investigates Qatar:   “We located over a $100 billion in undocumented funds going from Qatar, i.e., the Muslim Brotherhood, to American universities.  We found $10 billion at Cornell and 1,300,000,000 at Texas A&M.  At Brown University, we found a billion dollars in one program called the Choices Program, led by Professor Omer Bartov, a scholar of genocide, who is now arguing that Israel is committing a genocide.  Interestingly, he is running this project that received a billion dollars from the Qataris, and they are creating curriculum for over 8,000 schools across the country. These materials erase minorities from the Middle East, erase the Jewish presence from the Middle East, erase the Christian presence from the Middle East, and indoctrinate children across the United States with antisemitic, anti-Christian, anti-democratic ideas.  Here you have a regime swimming in money that is committed to the Muslim Brotherhood ideology, which seeks to replace and destroy democracy. Islam, in this context, becomes a spiritual oath to the Muslim Brotherhood.  Yosef Qaradawi, the spiritual head of the Brotherhood for many years, always preached that the true believer, the true Muslim, is obligated to complete the work of Hitler.  This figure was welcomed by the British establishment and helped to create Islamic Studies at my alma mater, Oxford University, where he was embraced by the highest levels of British society.”"
Time to complain about the Israeli lobby

i24NEWS English on X - "“Qatar owns over a third of London and is deeply influencing UK decision-making. Across the West Qatar is involved not just in politics, but in schools, soccer clubs, and think tanks,” @rutilande on Middle East Now with @laura_i24"
Bonchie on X - "Has anyone stopped to ask how a Muslim monarchy of 400,000 people became the defining power in the Western world?"
Daniel on X - "Qatar is the actual influence that Israel is accused of being.."

Mossad Commentary on X - "THIS SHOULD SEND SHOCKWAVES... Qatar’s former Prime Minister admits Al Jazeera is controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood. The West opened its airwaves and living rooms to a terror movement’s propaganda machine. Listen to the leaked recording...it should rattle every Western nation"

Don’t sniff at bawdy British tourists – when we leave, your jobs come with us - "Europe has seen several years of vigorous activism against tourism – ranging from the gentrifying sort to the hated mass tourist and package holiday-maker. Britons are always at the centre of Catholic Europe’s ire where cheap mass tourism is concerned. Apparently we lower the tone and make life unbearable for locals. Placards waved around hotspots read: “Tourists Out”. Cities like Lisbon and Barcelona have turned against Airbnbs, the centrepiece of modern affordable travel... Such measures tend to backfire. Because the politics of snobbery – held aloft by the Marxist-lite sentiment towards the unwashed consumer-proletariat that the Continent excels at even as it profits from that same proletariat – doesn’t work economically.  The proprietors of Magaluf on Mallorca know this all too well. In 2020, the Balearic Islands – Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera – banned drinking on public streets in “excess tourism zones” with rule-breakers fined up to €3,000. Party boats are forbidden from coming within one nautical mile of bits of the coast, and some all-inclusive hotels put limits on the number of drinks per guest per day. The Balearic government is refining its approach, publishing a 350-page “Sustainability Pact” document earlier this year which outlines how to “reduce dependence on traditional tourist markets,” meaning Germany and the UK. The results of this unfriendliness are beginning to be felt. “This is usually a British destination, but this year there are zero,” said a waiter at Lineker’s Bar, a Magaluf institution, speaking to Telegraph Travel. “Instead we have the Germans, the French, Portuguese, Italians. They don’t go out for a party… I like to work with the English, the Germans are a bargain lot.” A shop owner put it very succinctly: “We miss the English, because the English spend money.”  Spain – including Tenerife and the Canaries – is far from alone in the foolhardy turn against Johnny Tourist. Even Mexico, a basketcase where crime, women’s rights, drugs and violence are concerned, is stepping up its anti-tourist sentiment, with Mexico City activists furious at “gringos” for the usual catalogue of crimes: driving up rents so that locals have to live far outside the city; menus in English, milder hot sauce to suit whimpy gringo palates.  The Mexico City anti-tourism protests of July 4 followed the usual cadences, turning violent, with looting and smashing of boutiques and coffee shops aimed at tourists, plus grafitti and chanting “Fuera Gringo!” (gringos out!)  And under it all? Performative loathing for the one system on earth capable of lifting the prospects of Mexicans: “neoliberalism”. Sergio Gonzales, an activist who believes in the “right to centrality” (to live in the centre of a metropolis) sniffed at recent measures that substantially improved the welfare safety net provided by the government... Each one of those annoying selfie-snappers shops, spends and eats. Each of them needs somewhere to stay, and are prone to pay a vast premium for local homes they find “charming”.  Trying to intimidate tourists because of socialist spite may make heroes of some, but further impoverishes many more. In the Anglosphere-hating minds of activists the Latinate world over, there can be no happy medium, mixed bag, or compromise. It’s “tourists out” or bust. To the activists with an identity to build, that’s all very well. But when we do take our dirty money and go, the little people – those who prefer the feeling of hard cold cash in their pockets to grandstanding with political buzzwords – suffer... It’s the unholy alliance between protesters with nothing better to do, and meddling governments with primitive, xenophobic anti-money snobbery, that is leading tourism hotspots down the real path to doom.  I doubt our angry friends will realise any time soon that the more we spend on their shops and restaurants and services, the better it is for everyone. The glamour of socialist luxury beliefs forbids such thinking. But more fool them: for as long as Britons in search of fun have any disposable income left, we’ll be spending it wherever it’s welcome."

ZUBY: on X - "Something I've noticed is most people are really bad at picking enemies. They'll identify a legitimate issue and then blame the wrong person/people. Same way most people don't even connect Covid lockdowns and massive central bank money printing to the 'cost of living crisis'.
I'm sure tourists can be annoying to locals, but they're not the reason why Spain, Italy, and Portugal are having economic or safety problems."

How Mallorca’s war on British tourists backfired - "In 2020, the Balearic Islands authorities banned drinking on public streets in “excess tourism zones” (including Magaluf), with fines of up to €3,000 for rule-breakers. Some all-inclusive hotels also limited alcohol consumption to just six drinks per guest per day, while restrictions were placed on happy hours and party boats were banned from sailing within one nautical mile of the shore in some destinations. Things are getting pricier, too. This year, the government of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera announced plans to raise the Sustainable Tourism Tax up to €6 (£5) per night in the peak season. Car rentals would be taxed up to €80 (£70), depending on the length of stay... “The Italians, they don’t eat and drink. They come and share an espresso between four people,” said Ann-Charlotte, the bartender, as she delivered my bottle of Corona. The thriftiness of Italians is evidently a source of universal dismay on this strip. “We miss the English, because the English spend money.”"

Thread by @MikeBenzCyber on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "Ilhan Omar, on a $174K salary, increased her net worth $24 million in a single year, because of a shady venture capital firm she invested in that had less than $1,000 in assets ballooning up to $25 million in a year.  Either the dumbest people in Congress are smarter than the smartest people on Wall Street or Wall Street has just gotten more clever about money laundering methods for their lackeys in Congress. You be the judge. It's a dirty, dirty, business."

@amuse on X - "TERROR: The FBI determined that Rep Ilhan Omar’s Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District is the leading hub for the recruitment of terrorists in the US."

From my ODEs book: "It is customary in mathematics to name a technique or theorem for the next person after Euler to discover it (else there will be several hundred different examples of "Euler's theorem")" : r/math - ""Hey guys, I think I discovered something new! "Sorry bro. Euler already discovered that. We'll name it after you so we don't get it confused with hundreds other other possibilities. ""

Skin Injury May Bring on Food Allergies - "For reasons scientists don’t fully understand, chronic skin conditions such as eczema are linked to food allergies; while the national prevalence of childhood food allergies is only around 8%, that prevalence rises to 30% in children with eczema. Researchers have discovered that in some cases, eczema can precede food allergies.  Now, a new study led by researchers at Yale School of Medicine (YSM) and published April 4 in the journal Science Immunology introduces a new hypothesis about this link: In mice, skin damage can trigger food allergies.  Working with mice with different kinds of skin injuries, including lacerations and ultraviolet light damage, the scientists found that introducing new food proteins directly into the gut via a feeding tube at the time of skin damage induced new food allergies in the animals. The food had to be new to the animals; they wouldn’t develop allergies to foods they’d previously eaten. And the introduction of the allergen—a substance that causes allergic reactions—had to happen within several hours of the skin injury. Foods introduced the next day seemed to be safe...   The existence of food allergies is somewhat of a scientific conundrum because the gut tends to be tolerant, immunologically speaking. The immune environment in our digestive tracts evolved so we can safely eat a wide variety of foods and to allow foreign but beneficial bacteria to take up residence in our guts. If food allergies are actually due to an immune reaction in a different organ altogether, such as the skin, that could partially explain this conundrum...  Food allergies are not the only internal ailment tied to skin injuries; inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis have also been linked to eczema, and the skin condition psoriasis increases the risk of heart disease."

Race and Trends in Pornography Viewership, 1973-2016: Examining the Moderating Roles of Gender and Religion - "While some research has uncovered racial differences in patterns of pornography viewership, no studies to date have considered how these patterns may be changing over time or how these trends may be moderated by other key predictors of pornography viewership-specifically, gender and religion. Using nationally representative data from the 1973-2016 General Social Survey (GSS; N = 20,620), and taking into account different ethnoreligious histories with pornography as a moral issue, we examined how race, gender, and religion intersect to influence trends in pornography viewership over 43 years. Analyses revealed that Black Americans in general were more likely to view pornography than Whites, and they were increasing in their pornography viewership at a higher rate than Whites. Moreover, Black men were more likely to consume pornography than all other race/gender combinations, but differed only from White women in their increasing rate of pornography viewership. Lastly, frequent worship attendance moderated trends in pornography viewership only for White men. By contrast, regardless of attendance frequency, Black men and women showed increasing rates of pornography use, while White women showed flat rates. We conclude by discussing the implications of these findings for research on the intersections of race, gender, religion, and sexuality."

South Africa: “First black bank” collapses after being looted by owners - "VBS Mutual Bank—lauded as the first bank in South Africa to be totally owned and managed by Africans—has collapsed after its owners stole all the cash and bribed government and local government officials into depositing money in the operation, an official inquiry set up by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has found."

Kurts Adams Rozentals: British canoeist 'forced to choose between Olympics and OnlyFans' - "A British canoeist has been banned from competing and says he is being forced to choose between his Olympic dream and his OnlyFans account.  Kurts Adams Rozentals, who competes in the individual canoe slalom, was suspended in April by governing body Paddle UK following "allegations" about his posts on social media... Rozentals created his own OnlyFans account in January 2025 in order to help fund his training programme and he posts videos and pictures on his Instagram account to drive viewers towards the content.  Each athlete on Paddle UK's programme receives an annual grant of £16,000 to support their training.  But Rozentals says the programme's funding is nowhere near enough... Olympic gold medallist Jack Laugher created his own OnlyFans account in 2024 to "make ends meet"."

Meme - "So I'm sitting in an airport restaurant waiting for my flight back to Charlottesville when an interesting scene unfolds in front of me. A pretty girl is sitting by herself when a foreign guy comes up and introduces himself. Apparently he's from Uruguay and this is his first time in the U.S. After exchanging names he starts trying to enact that Barney pick-up technique from How Met Your Mother where he pretends like he's someone famous from a foreign country and can't believe she doesn't know him. The girl is clearly not biting and the guy is starting to flounder. I feel bad for him so I walk up and interrupt the conversation acting all star struck and asking for his autograph. He seems pretty surprised and then sheepishly signs my napkin. At this point the girl is noticeably more interested. I walk away pretending to call a friend to brag about the autograph. Last I checked he was surrounded by 3 girls. Welcome to America, my friend."

Meme - "Americans being racist because of ignorance, class divide, & pseudoscientific nonsense.

cbcwatcher on X - "Former NDP leader Tom Mulcair, who has been cheering on Carney since before the election, mocks the NDP "Now, there is a schism right now in the NDP. How many socialists does it take to have a schism? Apparently seven." "And so there is a bit of infighting going on right now."  "So I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of them either voted against the budget or just didn't show up to vote on the budget." @DonDavies  @ThomasMulcair"

The NDP may be in even bigger trouble than we think - "Most people think the NDP’s 2025 election disaster ended on election night. It didn’t. The real fallout is still coming, and it could cripple the party for good... Here’s the real crisis: the NDP appears to be millions of dollars short on paying back its national campaign loan, and there may be no obvious way out... If the NDP can’t repay its loan within three years, under the Canada Elections Act, that unpaid balance can be deemed a political contribution. That’s where things go from bad to existential... This is where the real danger kicks in. If a campaign loan isn’t repaid on time, Elections Canada can declare it a political contribution. But political parties aren’t allowed to receive multi-million-dollar gifts - not from banks (oh, the irony!), and not from individuals. So what should have been a repayable loan becomes an illegal donation, triggering serious compliance violations, possible enforcement orders, and major fines. It’s not just a headache. It’s a legal and financial time-bomb... It gets worse.  The party’s base is revolting. Reclaim Canada’s NDP, a grassroots group within the party unhappy with how the central team managed things, is now calling on supporters to cancel their donations to the federal party and instead send money directly to riding associations. Their logic is simple: the central party is too dysfunctional to trust, so the only path forward is to rebuild from the ground up. It’s not a whisper campaign. It’s a public, organized rebellion. And if they succeed, they may be unwittingly killing the actual party they wish to save.  Meanwhile, the party’s most valuable asset, the Jack Layton Building, its national HQ in Ottawa, is potentially in play. The building has been used to secure loans in the past. If the party defaults, it may have to sell it. The symbolism of losing the home named after their most successful leader would be devastating, but it may also be necessary just to survive. This is the kind of structural collapse that ends political parties. It’s happening in slow motion - and almost no one in Ottawa seems to be paying attention.  Maybe that’s no surprise. It’s the NDP, a party many already view as a sideshow. So even a multi-million-dollar compliance crisis can quietly slip under the radar.  But just because no one’s watching doesn’t make the problem any less real. The NDP didn’t just bleed support. It bled cash, internal cohesion, and institutional stability. And unless something changes fast, they won’t just be a smaller party in the House. They might not be a party at all."
Of course, they're the only hope for real change and will save the working class, even though they can't even stop their own destruction

New Democratic Party - Wikipedia - "Unlike most other Canadian federal parties, the NDP is integrated with its provincial and territorial parties. Holding membership of a provincial or territorial section of the NDP includes automatic membership in the federal party, and this precludes a person from being a member of different parties at the federal and provincial levels."
So much for the left wing cope that Provincial NDPs are unaffiliated to the Federal one and that they are really Conservative, because they want to pretend that left wing policies don't fail

Council conjured £429 bill to let magician use rabbit - "A magician was left infuriated after being handed a £429 council bill for having a white rabbit as part of his act.  Stuart Brown, who goes by the stage name Magic Stuart, claims he has been using rabbits in his show for more than 15 years with no complaints.  But the 60-year-old claims he received a call from his council last week informing him that he needs to pay £429 to obtain a licence for his rabbit, Snowy.  He claims he has also been told he will need to pay £328 to renew the licence every three years... The authority says that Snowy falls under the “keeping and training animals for exhibition” category for licence fees, prompting the charge of £429 over three years, and £328 to renew.  However, Mr Brown argued that his three-year-old pure white Netherland Dwarf rabbit has no training, and is merely placed on a table for children to take photos with... He says that if he has to pay the full amount, he may have to cut back on doing charity shows, as he will not be able to afford to take losses as a sole trader."

British billionaire trader to pay interns £26,000 a month - "Alex Gerko, who runs XTX Markets, is advertising for postgraduates to join the firm on a 12 to 14-week research internship where they stand to earn between $105,000 and $122,500 in total.

The dark side of Thailand - "Though it may sound like an extreme version of the kind of advertising bans touted by nanny-state governments in Scotland and elsewhere, the law makes it a criminal offence to post photos of yourself drinking alcohol on social media, with punishments of up to one year in prison.  And what of the other perennial concern for tourists: safety? While Thailand’s police might be strict on certain speech violations, they aren’t always so alert when it comes to protecting you against other crimes. “Everywhere you turn there’s a scam,” says my friend Chris, describing his time in Bangkok. “You can’t catch an Uber without someone trying to pretend to be your driver in order to fleece you.”  Some scams have been running so long they almost seem quaint: like the tuk-tuk drivers who insist that certain attractions are actually closed, before taking you on a tour of over-priced gem stores. But there are plenty of lesser-known tricks to watch out for, including fake police shakedowns – often targeting drunken tourists – and beachfront vendors renting out faulty jet-skis that will break down right on schedule and leave you paying for the “damage”. Then there are the more general threats to your safety. Earlier this year a deadly fire broke out on a diving boat in Koh Tao. Then there’s Thailand’s frankly appalling road safety record. The World Health Organisation says that the country ranks ninth from bottom, out of 175 countries, for road safety, noting that its per capita death rate (25.4 per 100,000 population in 2021) makes it an outlier amongst fellow Asian countries and amongst its economic peers."
