Links - 24th October 2025 (1 - Charlie Kirk Assassination)

Meme - The ArchCast: ""But what about free speech!" Mewls the communist as the boot they have been begging for finally arrives."
Rolling Stone: "People Are Losing Their Jobs for Criticizing Slain ‘Free Speech’ Advocate Charlie Kirk"
Rolling Stone: "Why Cancel Culture Is Good for Democracy"
Weird. Left wingers used to tell us that free speech just meant the government couldn't jail you for what you said, and that private parties exercising their freedom of association to not employ people was good

Meme - Pericles @PerryALPHA: "Leftists aren't getting fired for celebrating Charlie Kirk's murder, they're just "opting to get fired""
"Thousands of workers are opting to get fired, rather than take the vaccine"

Meme - Jo @JoJoFromJerz: "His cult of a party wanted to cancel Disney because they didn't agree with banning the word gay."
Jo @JoJoFromJerz: "Boycott everything affiliated with ABC and Disney. Pass it on."

Meme - *Mental Gymnastics*
"He killed a right-wing activist. He left antifascist slogans as a calling card. The shooter is an antifascist"
"He made a gamer reference! All gamers are right-wing! His parents said he was "political," that could mean groyper! This is a right-wing false flag! "If you're reading this you're gay?" Sounds christofascist to me.... "Bella Ciao" could mean anything. His parents are MAGA! I bet it's O9A"

Meme - Paul Barfoot: *fake photo of Tyler Robinson wearing MAGA shirt*
Reising J Jake: "real photo *original photo*
Liberate-America: "Paul Barfoot wow, you look so stupid now. Do you apologize for being a fool? Come on... show you're a man and Say it"
Adam Lowe: "fake photo"
Even in the second half of October I saw left wingers still spouting the fake news about Tyler Robinson being MAGA, but the narrative is more important than facts anyway

Meme - *Say the line Bart!*
"SAY THE FULL QUOTE"
"BUT IT IS VERY EFFECTIVE WHEN IT COMES TO POLITICS. SYMPATHY. PREFER MORE THAN EMPATHY. THAT'S A SEPARATE TOPIC FOR A DIFFERENT TIME"
*Cheering classroom*

Meme - Leftists: "Charlie Kirk said he can't stand the word empathy, therefore he was a terrible person"
"why don't you read the entire quote where he goes on to say he prefers the word sympathy?"
Leftists: "I don't want the entire quote. I just want to hate Charlie Kirk"

The reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder reveals a terrifying truth about the Left - "The truth is that political murder is not a problem only of the last few years. It’s forgotten now, but in the late 19th century Europe suffered a wave of anarchist and nihilist terrorism, now largely expunged from popular memory. Anarchists killed a president of France (Carnot, 1894), a king of Italy (Umberto I, 1900), and an empress of Austria-Hungary (Elisabeth, 1898). Random bombings in public places in Europe and the US killed many entirely innocent people. These events even inspired a great novel, Conrad’s The Secret Agent, based on the failed attempt by the French anarchist Martial Bourdin to blow up the Greenwich Observatory in 1894. But you don’t have to go back that far. We all remember the Kennedy assassinations, but we have largely forgotten the wave of political murder in the late 1960s and 70s. The Weather Underground in the US, that targeted the Capitol, the Pentagon, and the American judiciary. The far-Left Red Brigades in Italy, who kidnapped and murdered Aldo Moro, a former prime minister. The Red Army Faction, the Baader-Meinhof gang in Germany, who killed US servicemen, lawyers, policemen, and prominent business people. And of course here at home we had the gangster IRA, which murdered four MPs and came close to killing the PM herself... It is that it’s on the Left that it seems you find most of those ready to equivocate about Charlie Kirk’s murder, to say that somehow “he had it coming”, or even “I didn’t agree with him but he didn’t deserve to be killed” (as if some lower-level sanction, perhaps a beating or gagging on social media, might have been justified). I’m not saying it never happens, but in general people on the right don’t celebrate the murder of their political opponents. Why should this be? The answer, in my view anyway, is that there’s an intellectual virus of sympathy for violence on the Islamo-gauchiste far-Left that goes back quite a long way, a history of supporting and glorifying so-called revolutionary resistance, via Frantz Fanon from Mao to Che Guevara to the Shining Path to Hamas, a view that has seeped into broader Leftist culture, We all know the consequences in real life. Yes, there are exceptions, but it appears to me that a Left-wing mob has a propensity to violence which a Right-wing demonstration does not. No-one expects American cities to be burned down by the Right in reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder as they were after the killing of George Floyd. You don’t find pro-Israel groups wrecking RAF jets or intimidating opponents on election night. To my belief, no-one is frightened by last week’s anti-abortion March for Life in London, but Antifa, or the fringe to the trans movement, are genuinely scary (and if you doubt the latter, read Kathleen Stock on X this week). Too much of the modern Left plays along with this. It is after all they who say “words are violence” or who talk about the structural violence of colonialism or capitalism, language chosen to help justify a violent response. It is they who casually refer to moderate opponents as far-Right, fascists, or even Nazis. And – see Alastair Campbell’s embarrassing apology for asserting that Charlie Kirk advocated stoning gay people to death – it is they who are quick to think the worst of their opponents. It needs to stop."

Charlie Kirk’s killing proves identitarian Leftism is an explicitly violent ideology - "Humanities students now study the works of the likes of Frantz Fanon, the Algerian post-colonialist who suggested that violence could serve as a “cleansing force” that helps the colonised process their subjugation. From this therapeutic perspective, violence loses its negative connotations. It is reframed as an act of self-care, which, in course, dehumanises its victims. For the Left, capitalism and colonialism are tied together, so Fanon’s advocacy for cathartic and violent expression of Algerian identity against the French is readily adaptable to whoever or whatever they perceive to be oppressing them today. They have internalised the sensibility of victimisation, and from this identitarian perspective the so-called victims of the system are thought thoroughly justified in embracing the politics of violence. Just look at their response to the callous cruelty of Kirk’s murder, and observe how the conservative activist has been cast into the role of a non-person and how others are fair game to be targeted. One TikTok post stated, “We need to find people with better aim”, implying that other conservative figures too should be murdered. Others have actively incited people to have a go at killing prominent Right-wing personalities. The podcaster Joe Rogan, the commentator Ben Shapiro and Harry Potter author JK Rowling were just some of the individuals designated as suitable targets of political violence. Listen to Charlotte Hayes, the progressive TikToker, calling on her two-hundred thousand followers to “kill them all!”. And such statements were not just confined to the online world. Spray-painted graffiti saying “Kill All Charlie Kirks” at Seattle Central College illustrates the febrile celebration of violence the student community, just as rap due Bob Vylan’s mocking of Kirk’s killing on Saturday did for Left-wing music fans. One of the tragic consequences of the politicisation of identity is that it renders differences and disputes very personal. Unlike the traditional ideological arguments about competing policies and visions of the world, the politicisation of identity leads to the projection of negative sentiments and hatred towards people holding opposite views. It is principally directed at individuals who are not like them. Smartly dressed Charlie Kirk, a young father of two children, with strong religious beliefs personified someone that in the eyes of Left-wing activists is OK to hate. When they chant “Kill them all” what they really mean is that it is OK to slaughter those who are on the wrong side of the cultural divide. Their unrestrained hatred seamlessly leads to the dehumanisation of their victims. See, for example, the way sections of the Left reacted to the barbaric murders Hamas committed three years ago in Israel on October 7. Their self-satisfied endorsement of this massacre indicates just how much they have become distanced from the norms of civilised democratic behaviour. Or look at the murder of Brian Thompson, the 50-year-old CEO of UnitedHeathcare... We must wise-up to the fact that reactions such as these are not the actions of a few infantile or radicalised individuals, it is baked into the modern Leftist world-view."

Do Australian conservative students feel safe? | The Spectator Australia - "The day the news broke, it was all anyone could talk about. In one of my classes that day, a student asked the teacher what they thought about Charlie Kirk being murdered. While there’s no official transcript of the teacher’s exact words, it was essentially along the lines of, ‘I think it’s great. He kind of deserved it.’ Then, another student spoke up – half-joking, half-testing the boundary. ‘What about Trump? Should he be assassinated too?’ Again, the teacher shrugged and said something along the lines of, ‘Yeah, I hope so. The world would be better off.’ This is deeply concerning. It wasn’t just an inappropriate comment. It was a teacher, an adult, a person in power, endorsing violence. They were expressing joy that someone had been murdered and wishing the same fate on another. And in that moment, two issues became clear. Firstly, the teacher should not have made any political statement at all. Classrooms are not platforms for personal ideology. As noted by the Senate Education and Employment Committee, teachers are expected to remain impartial and avoid letting personal beliefs influence students’ learning or treatment. This is a larger issue in itself, as evidenced by other moments I’ve experienced this year – like when one teacher made our class line up in order of whether we preferred Trump or Obama (the teacher later said they aim to have everyone on the Obama side by the end of the year), or when another continuously casually referred to Trump as a ‘Nazi’ (which I found ironic, considering Trump is a strong supporter of Israel)... Secondly, when an adult in authority says a political figure ‘deserved’ to die, or that they ‘hope’ another is killed, the classroom boundary shifts. The comment does not stay theoretical. It normalises violence as a legitimate endpoint of political disagreement. It replaces debate with elimination. One of the first phrases to appear on my school’s website is their declaration of offering an education where students uphold moral values. I can only wonder what morals ‘murdering people you don’t like’ aligns with. Teachers are not just content-delivery systems. They are role models, whether they want to be or not. Their words carry extra weight because grades, references, and daily approval sit behind them. When a teacher signals that murder is an acceptable outcome for the ‘wrong’ politics, students hear two messages:
To those who oppose the targeted figures: your anger has permission to escalate; murder is sometimes okay and a good thing.
To those who share the targeted ideology: you are not safe here. The adult in charge would prefer certain people like you to be dead.
A student in that second group could reasonably think, ‘If my teacher wants someone of my ideology dead, how am I safe in this room? Will my marks suffer if I speak up? Will my classmates pile on because the teacher set the tone?’ Even if no mark is ever changed, the chilling effect is real. Silence becomes self-defence. That is not education. That is intimidation by ambience. Cultures are built from countless moments where adults either raise the standard or lower it. Every time authority figures treat violent talk as witty or righteous, they sand down the taboo. They make extremity feel normal. For a tiny, unstable minority, ‘normal’ becomes action. That is why leaders across politics denounce violence even against opponents they despise: not because they’ve suddenly turned into friends, but because they understand that permission is contagious. Open political discussion is healthy – when done properly. As a politically active student, I’ve found the best teachers are the ones who keep the centre steady, invite competing views, and create a space where disagreement sharpens you, not silences you. But what I experienced in that lesson is different. Hoping someone is assassinated is not ‘joining the debate’. It is the opposite of debate... Schools like mine will claim to prioritise respect, impartiality, and student wellbeing – and on paper, they do. But the evidence clearly does not show this. Politics in the classroom is at higher levels than ever, fuelled by an increasingly radicalised media landscape and online echo chambers. The last thing we need is teachers, the very people meant to model calm, informed behaviour, engaging in lies, hate, and promoting violence. If a classroom cannot keep faith with words over violence, we will keep waking up to headlines that ask, again and again, how a child learned to believe that killing is an answer."
Time to blame the "far right" for violence and to jail them

Martyrs of free speech | The Spectator Australia - "His death silenced a career and destabilised a network built to expand democratic discourse. Authoritarian regimes go after precisely this kind of structure because it sustains the habit of disagreement. Kirk was combative, yet his instinct was engagement rather than annihilation. He thrived on questions from hostile audiences, often letting critics speak at length before responding point by point. He did not expect synthesis, yet he insisted that disagreement could be aired without contempt. His model was to keep adversaries talking, even when consensus was impossible. That discipline of encounter – argumentative without being insulting – is what separates democratic conflict from the endless sneer of partisanship. Kirk understood something many politicians forget: democracies require conflict. Arguments, however heated, reveal where societies strain and where they can bend. His campus debates forced both supporters and opponents to spell out their positions under pressure, producing information no focus group could ever supply. Australia reveals how democracies can suffocate debate without firing a shot. The problem here comes from inside the walls. Dissent is often strangled before it has a chance to be heard. Senator Jacinta Price discovered this when she remarked that high immigration tends to benefit governments in power – an observation well within the mainstream of political science. Like Kirk, Price’s approach was straightforward without being inflammatory, empirical without being accusatory. Instead of counter-argument, she faced censure from her own colleagues: opposition leader Sussan Ley and manager of opposition business Alex Hawke. The claim was treated as taboo-breaking rather than a hypothesis to be tested."

Autism Capital 🧩 on X - "🚨 NEW: Ilhan Omar says Charlie Kirk’s legacy should be “left in the dustbin of history.”"
FischerKing on X - "If some right-wing fanatic shot Greta Thunberg, and some GOP congressman went on TV and said this - it would end his career."

Where is America’s 9/11 spirit? | The Spectator Australia - "There was no “But” in Sanders’s condemnation of Kirk’s assassination, no self-righteous enumeration of his countless – and doubtlessly vehement – disagreements with Kirk, and no attempt to put political points on the board. Only a sincere expression of condolences and articulation of unifying principles. All was as it should be. Sadly, Sanders’s words were made all the more moving by their loneliness... The day after Kirk fell, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) joined Mehdi Hasan for a session in which they – among other indignities – mocked the self-evident truth that Kirk believed in the power of civil debate. Reps. Dave Min (D-CA) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA), meanwhile, glibly attempted to make a political profit off of Kirk’s murder by misleading the public about the perpetrator. “Now that the Charlie Kirk assassin has been identified as MAGA, I’m sure Donald Trump, Elon Musk and all the insane GOP politicians who called for retribution against the ‘RADICAL LEFT’ will now shift their focus to stopping the toxic violence of the RADICAL RIGHT,” mused Min. “It doesn’t matter that Kirk’s killer was a straight white male. Or that he was from a Republican family that voted for Donald Trump. Violence has NEVER been the answer,” submitted Swalwell. Let the reader understand: authorities have identified the alleged shooter as a man “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology” whose partner was transgender. Kirk was shot while discussing the phenomenon of transgender mass shooters... Twenty-four years ago, Americans came together to face a common enemy. Today, they’re coming together on opposing sides of a battlefield, tragically convinced that their enemies have lived next door all along."
The left wingers who realise that they were spreading misinformation will not acknowledge that Democratic politicians joined in the fun too

Natalie Jean Beisner on X - "Not for nothing, but Charlie Kirk married a woman five years older than he. Mrs. Charlie Kirk will be 37 in November. She also double majored in political science and international relations. She played basketball at the collegiate level. She was Miss Arizona USA and competed for Miss USA. She has a Juris Master degree and a doctorate in Christian leadership. She worked in modeling, acting, and as a casting director. She’s the CEO of Proclaim Streetwear and Bible in 365. She has a podcast, and as of this year, she was apparently working as a real estate agent. All that to say that those spreading the lie that Charlie was some depraved misogynist who believed in denigrating women and needed some mousy wife at home to live under his boot, not only aren’t listening to his words but also aren’t looking at his life and the woman he chose to make a wife. Did he believe in biblical gender roles? Yes, it seems like he did. Did he question whether young women should go to college? Yes, but he also questioned whether young people should go at all. Did he fall in love with and make a wife of a Christian woman who had her own life and degrees and accomplishments and even—gasp—made her own money? Yeah, seems like he did. So can everyone just stop now?"

Larry Elder | Facebook - "The Trump-deranged part of the American left shed more tears for illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia—MS-13 gang member, wife beater, trafficker of illegal aliens and solicitor of nude photographs from a minor—than for Charlie Kirk, a hero to conservatives."

Vance Claims Charlie Kirk Didn't Belittle Black Women: VIDEO - Comic Sands
Left wingers demonstrating their abysmal comprehension skills again (as on George Takei's Facebook - given how often his team spam this site Comic Sands, they must own it). You cannot teach someone who refuses to learn

Meme - Nurses Against Dick Pics.: "Fuck him."
"Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to steal a white person's slot." - Charlie Kirk, July 2023
Readers added context: "He did not say this, he mentioned Specific individuals being DEI hires and them not having the brain power to be taken seriously. His comment was intentionally misconstrued to make him seem racist. Its worth noting the title of this video is not accurate to its contents"
Frank J. Fleming: "The left invent an imaginary version of you in their heads and sometimes get so angry at this imaginary version of you that they murder the real you."

Andy Ngo on X - ""You've been training your whole life for this, guys." The Antifa subreddit on @Reddit has made a post saying why Charlie Kirk and those like him deserve to be killed. To smear him, they reference a Media Matters @mmfa hit piece and tell their comrades to arm themselves with weapons. The post echoes the Antifa belief that if you speak with a "Nazi," you are also one and should be subject to death."
Colin Wright on X - "Groups like Media Matters publish defamatory hit pieces, saturated with extreme rhetoric designed to inflame violent actors. MM currently has 2 articles that label me "anti-trans" and suggest that I'm campaigning to deny mental-health care to suicidal children. These are dangerous lies."

Andy Ngo on X - "The Antifa cell in Corvallis, Ore. has published an after-action report on the fallout from Charlie Kirk’s assassination. They admit fearing the loss of their ability to mark conservatives for death with no pushback — especially as some apolitical institutions, groups and businesses now feel safer expressing sympathy to Kirk’s family and supporters. They also concede that attacks on @seanfeucht ’s Christian worship events have been a PR disaster, with cameras showing masked Antifa militants assaulting families and children at those events. To counter a possible cultural shift away from their dehumanization tactics that are mainstream on the left, Antifa suggest exploiting divisions on the right to divide and conquer. They suggest using Israel as the wedge issue."

Erik on X - "As a lifelong Democrat, I didn’t know what to make of Charlie Kirk. I’ve since spent several lunch breaks watching his debates (FULL videos) and have come away with the impression that we got him all wrong. The reaction from those on my side of the aisle have really made me rethink whether we’re on the right side of history. Well, I’m crossing the aisle—I just registered as a Republican. Anyone else?"

Walter Kirn on X - "No one is going to buy the left's reinvention itself as some libertarian champion of free expression. Not after the decade of woke mania. Not after their misinformation and disinformation crusades. Not after their witch hunts over micro aggressions etc. Not after making campuses and offices zones of fear and intimidation for everyone with the slightest traces of unorthodoxy. They have just chained themselves to an issue on which they have no, even negative, credibility and a record of infinite hypocrisy and bad faith. It's going to go very poorly indeed because in about fifteen minutes they will want to reclaim their old controlling, authoritarian ways."

Rob Jenkins on X - "Remember reading about how Hitler would visit college campuses just to have conversations with young people? He’d tell them things like, “Get married and have kids” and “become the best version of yourself.” Then he’d let them say whatever they wanted and politely debate them."

Hodgetwins on X - "We shouldn’t be surprised that the left thinks the shooter is Conservative They think men are women"

𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐡 on X - "If you believe people deserve to be shot for their opinions don’t cry when you get fired for yours."

HowlingMutant on X - "If you as a leftist want to understand why people are upset about the Charlie Kirk assassination try to picture it happening to someone you empathize with, like a black rapist or something"

Benny Johnson on X - "BREAKING: A family member of Lance Twiggs, who was the transgender “boyfriend” of Charlie Kirk’s assassin, Tyler Robinson says family cut ties with Twiggs due to his “hostility toward anyone supporting conservative or Christian values” and confirm Robinson lived with him."
Clearly, Tyler Robinson was a Conservative

Links - 21st October 2025 (Climate Change: Electric Cars)

Time to hit the brakes on unrealistic EV targets in B.C. - "British Columbia’s electric vehicle sales mandates were created with good intentions, but the collision with reality is now obvious. Although we are still in 2025, the 26 per cent zero-emission vehicle sales mandate is already hitting our dealerships. That’s because it applies to the 2026 model year, and many of those models are starting to arrive across the province now. While 26 percent sounds moderate compared to 90 per cent by 2030 or 100 per cent by 2035, as also required by B.C. law, the facts on the ground are grim. According to S&P Global Mobility data, EV sales in B.C. have plummeted to around 15.4 per cent as of June 2025, down from nearly 25 per cent in mid-2024. This decline happened fast after both federal (up to $5,000) and provincial governments (up to $4,000 in B.C.) stopped funding their EV rebate programs earlier this year. So, the very incentives that made expensive electric vehicles accessible to middle-income buyers disappeared just when they were needed most. Government polling shows 60 per cent of British Columbians say cost is their biggest barrier to buying electric vehicles. And yet, both levels of government pulled the financial support while maintaining the sales mandates, with penalties of up to $20,000 per non-compliant vehicle. This is not just bad policy, it’s economic punishment for our auto sector... powering an all-electric vehicle fleet is no small task. The Energy Futures Institute modelled B.C.’s electricity needs under the 2035 mandate scenario and found full implementation would require an extra two Site C dams’ worth of electricity. We’ve already been importing 20-25 percent of our electricity annually for the past few years, often from fossil fuels, which contradicts our clean energy goals... With governments forcing unattainable mandates, they are creating resentment amongst potential buyers and a political backlash against EVs themselves... The market shift to regular hybrids, which you don’t plug in, is not supported by rebates. But the shift is happening nevertheless. However, these vehicles, such as the Toyota Prius, are not considered “clean” enough under B.C. legislation and could attract a penalty of $20,000 each. This only makes things worse for consumers who are already stretched. Punitive mandates create market distortions, restrict consumer choice, and drive up vehicle prices for everyone, especially lower-income families who rely on affordable used cars."

Economic implications of a phased‐in EV mandate in Canada - "Canada plans to phase out internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV) sales in favour of electric vehicles (EVs) by 2035 as part of its climate policy. Herein I examine the economic implications of a phased-in electric vehicle mandate. I show using partial equilibrium analysis that when both types of cars are available, auto companies will overproduce electric vehicles and earn scarcity rents on internal combustion engine vehicles that partially offset the revenue loss on electric vehicles. I then present a numerical general equilibrium model of the Canadian economy to assess the overall macroeconomic consequences of the policy. The results depend critically on the assumed pace at which electric vehicles achieve cost parity with internal combustion engine vehicles on a quality-adjusted basis. An electric vehicle mandate will have manageable economic consequences if technology improves so rapidly that the mandate is unnecessary. If the mandate outpaces achievement of cost parity the economic consequences can be severe and would likely cause the auto manufacturing sector to shut down. The cost per tonne of emission reductions are at least 10 times the Canadian carbon tax rate while the mandate is binding. The analysis provides insight into why automakers have been willing hitherto to develop and sell electric vehicles even though they currently lose money on them."
Losing 38,000 jobs over 5 years is a worthy price to virtue signal while not helping combat climate change

another EV domino has just toppled - "  It turns out that the speed-obsessed petrolheads, along with the status-obsessed playboys, who made up the bulk of its customers are not really interested in a souped up lawnmower after all. The sports and luxury car manufacturer Porsche has this week announced that it is giving up making its own batteries for electric cars because the demand isn’t there.   Meanwhile, the European automobile and suppliers associations have recently written to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen arguing the 2035 ban on combustion engines is no longer feasible. One by one, the EV dominos are falling. It can’t be much longer before the whole catastrophic experiment is cancelled – but unfortunately not before it has done huge damage to Europe’s largest industry... That comes after Northvolt, the Swedish battery start-up that was meant to be the largest in Europe, filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. Likewise, in a recent letter to von der Leyen, the Mercedes-Benz chief executive Ola Kaellenius and Matthias Zink, the CEO of the auto parts supplier Schaeffler, warned on behalf of the European auto industry that the 2035 ban on the sale of petrol cars was no longer feasible. Europe, they added, risked becoming completely dependent on China for its supply of batteries.   EVs were meant to lead an industrial renaissance, creating hundreds of thousands of “well-paid green jobs”, re-booting the economy, re-establishing industrial leadership, and saving the planet at the same time. But it is not looking as if any of that will happen right now. In reality, the ideologically-driven obsession with imposing EVs on a reluctant European market is collapsing. There were three big problems. To start with, the infrastructure wasn’t in place. In most of Europe, people live in apartments, making it very hard to install home chargers, while even in countries such as the UK where more of us live in houses it is often impossible to slot a giant plug into a suburban driveway.   Likewise, chargers along main roads were hopelessly inadequate, and the cost of electricity was far too high to make it affordable to run an electric car. Next, the manufacturers were in no state to invest the hundreds of billions that were needed to switch from one technology to another.   Indeed, as the success of the Chinese brands, along with Tesla, has shown, it is probably easier to start from scratch than to convert a combustion engine giant to electricity. Finally, customers don’t really like them, nor do they trust an EV to get them to their destination in time. Add it all up, and one point is clear: they have been a colossal flop. There is a catch, however. Europe’s largest industry is now facing full-scale collapse. The major manufacturers can’t compete in EV’s, and yet their existing products will be banned in just ten years for now.   Autos account for 6 per cent of German GDP, and are estimated to account for 7 per cent of the EU’s entire output, with 13.8 million jobs dependent on the sector. If the companies can’t compete in EVs, and petrol cars are banned, they are simply going to disappear. It will be a fatal blow for the European economy, and one that may well plunge it into a full scale recession... If people want to buy them, that’s fine. The problem is that the market has been twisted by top-down quotas and targets imposed by bureaucrats and virtue-signalling politicians who don’t have a clue what they are doing. One by one, the dominos are now collapsing. In reality, it won’t be long before the whole insane scheme will have to be scrapped – it is just a shame that one of Europe’s largest and most important industries might be destroyed in the process."

Petrol ban has plunged Europe’s car industry into crisis, says Mercedes boss - "A looming ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars has plunged Europe’s car industry into crisis, the boss of Mercedes-Benz has warned.  Ola Kallenius has urged Brussels to urgently review the policy to avoid the sector’s collapse, as he said carmakers are facing their bleakest-ever outlook.  As well as the upcoming 2035 ban across the Continent, European carmakers are also battling Donald Trump’s tariffs and heightened competition from cheaper Chinese rivals... His comments echo those of German rival BMW, which has also argued that the 2035 ban should be delayed.  Oliver Zipse, BMW’s chief executive, said in October that the date was “no longer realistic” and could “threaten the European automotive industry in its heart [leading] to a massive shrinking of the industry as a whole”.  The latest intervention will no doubt also raise questions for the Labour Government, which reinstated the UK’s 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol cars after coming to power.  Weak demand for electric cars has already fuelled job losses across some of Britain’s biggest manufacturers, including at Vauxhall owner Stellantis and Ford... Chinese brands now collectively outsell Mercedes in Europe."

Lithium supplies will not keep up with demand for electric cars, experts warn - "Europe, the US and China will be unable to extract enough lithium domestically to meet their demands for electric vehicle (EV) batteries, according to a study. Researchers from East China Normal University in Shanghai and Sweden’s Lund University described this as a “looming crisis” that could cause “delays in meeting critical climate and energy goals”. They warned that domestic lithium production could grow as much as 10 times in some areas of Europe, the US and China by 2030 but still fall short of the “soaring demand” without technological innovations or increasing imports."
Clearly, the solution will be to continue to ban non-electric vehicles, so the peasants will have to go without

I Switched from an Electric Car Back to Gas—Here's What I Learned - "When I first got my electric car two years ago, I was convinced that range anxiety was just a myth perpetuated by gas car loyalists. Boy, was I wrong. The deep dive into tomorrow's gas station network estimates that drivers can successfully recharge their cars using non-residential EV equipment only 78% of the time, highlighting critical issues with reliability. I found myself constantly checking battery levels, planning routes around charging stations, and feeling genuine stress when my range dropped below 50 miles. The freedom I once felt driving anywhere, anytime, was replaced by this constant mental math about whether I'd make it to my destination. Even short weekend trips required extensive planning, and spontaneous road trips became a thing of the past. That carefree feeling of just jumping in the car and going wherever the road takes you? It vanished completely. In the U.S., 60% of urban residents live less than a mile from the nearest public charger, compared to 41% of suburban residents and 17% of rural residents. As someone living in a suburban area, finding a working charger became a regular headache. With one public port for every 29 EVs, California, which has the highest rate of EV purchases, ranks 49th among states in the ports-to-drivers ratio. Even when I found charging stations, about a quarter of them were either broken, occupied, or painfully slow. I lost count of how many times I arrived at a charging station only to find it out of order or incompatible with my car's charging port. National Renewable Energy Laboratory estimates that by 2030 there will be 33 million EVs on the road and 28 million EV charging ports will be needed to support them. The infrastructure simply isn't there yet, and waiting for it to catch up felt like being a beta tester for someone else's future. Everyone talks about how cheap electricity is compared to gas, but nobody warned me about peak-hour rates and demand charges. My monthly electric bill jumped from around $120 to nearly $280 during summer months when I was charging at home... The installation of a Level 2 home charger also cost me $1,800, including electrical work that required upgrading my home's panel. When I factored in these costs, the savings I thought I'd get from "cheap electricity" were largely wiped out. It became clear that the math only works if you have access to really cheap electricity rates, which many Americans simply don't have. After 18 months, I started noticing that my car's range wasn't what it used to be. A new 2024 analysis reveals a significant improvement: EV batteries now degrade at an average of 1.8% per year. While that might sound minimal, it meant my already-limited 250-mile range was dropping to around 230 miles on a full charge. A 5 percent battery degradation could equal 20 miles of range. Oddly enough, the battery only degraded another 5 percent during the next 100,000 miles. The knowledge that this expensive battery pack would only get worse over time was unsettling. In fact, many automakers suggest drivers and fleet managers limit the use of DC fast charging to prolong their electric vehicles' battery life. This created a catch-22: I needed fast charging for longer trips, but using it was slowly killing my battery's longevity. Nobody prepared me for how much cold weather would affect my EV's performance. During winter months, my range dropped by 30-40%, turning my advertised 250-mile range into a real-world 150-175 miles. As shown in Figure 4, EVs in hot climates experience a faster rate of battery decline. The heater drained the battery faster than I ever imagined, and I found myself driving with minimal heat to preserve range... The anxiety of potentially getting stranded in freezing temperatures because my battery died was something I never experienced with a gas car that could warm up in minutes. Beyond the obvious purchase price difference, owning an EV came with unexpected expenses that nobody talks about. Insurance: EV insurance is 15% higher due to specialized parts. My insurance premiums increased significantly due to the specialized parts and limited repair network. A quick look at the numbers and it's clear that EVs depreciate quicker than their gas counterparts. Cari Crane, Director of Insights at ALG (which used to be known as Auto Lease Guide), told us that the high cost of electric vehicles contributes to their steeper depreciation. When a small fender-bender required body work, I discovered that only certain shops could work on EVs, and parts took weeks to arrive. The rapid depreciation also meant my car was losing value faster than comparable gas vehicles, making me worry about being underwater on my loan. While home charging seemed reasonable, public charging networks were price gougers in disguise... DC fast charging sessions often cost $20-30 for maybe 200 miles of range, making it more expensive per mile than premium gasoline... When I moved to a new apartment complex during my EV ownership, I discovered how difficult charging became without a dedicated home setup. For example, in the US, just 48% of people have access to off-street parking where a charger could be installed. My new place didn't have assigned parking, let alone charging infrastructure, which meant I was entirely dependent on public charging networks. For those who rent or live in a townhouse or condominium where installing an at-home charger isn't feasible, owning an electric vehicle comes with more challenges for this reason. Charging became a weekly chore that took 2-3 hours of my time, sitting in parking lots waiting for my car to charge enough to get through the week. The convenience factor that made cars so appealing in the first place was completely eliminated. I started to realize that EV ownership really only makes sense if you have a house with a garage – a luxury many Americans, especially younger buyers, simply don't have. My EV was packed with technology, but much of it felt like it was still in beta testing. Software updates sometimes broke features that were working fine before, and the infotainment system was sluggish and unintuitive. "Once you turn someone off, it's a lot harder to get them back," said Ivan Drury, Edmunds director of insights. "Their experience is already mired in negativity."... When I finally traded in my EV for a hybrid gas vehicle, the difference in daily stress was immediate and dramatic. Nearly 30% of electric vehicle owners globally are likely to switch back to internal combustion engine cars, according to a recent McKinsey global consumer survey, with U.S. EV owners even more likely to switch back to ICEs. A study from Edmunds found that in Q2 2024, just under 40% of EVs utilized as a trade-in were used to purchase or lease a new ICE vehicle... Nearly half of American owners of electric cars want to switch back to traditional cars powered by internal combustion engines, according to a consumer survey released by McKinsey and Co. earlier this month. Filling up took five minutes instead of 45 minutes to several hours, and I could drive anywhere in the country without a second thought. The freedom to be spontaneous returned, and I could finally take those weekend road trips that I'd been avoiding. The relief was so immediate that I wondered why I'd put myself through the EV experience for so long."

Electric cars 'break down more often', reveal both What Car? and the AA - "Electric vehicles break down and leave drivers stranded at the roadside more often than their petrol and diesel engine equivalents, owners reveal. Of the 30,000 drivers who completed What Car’s latest Reliability Survey over the past two years, one in ten (10.9 per cent) said their motor had suffered a fault that rendered it undrivable... Of the battery car drivers who filled in the survey, 16.8 per cent said their car had broken down in the last 24 months. That compares to just 10.7 per cent of petrol car owners. Hybrids (14.1 per cent) and diesels (15.4 per cent) too had a statistically lower rate of breakdowns, the report said. And it also went on to show that when electric cars do suffer issues, they are less likely to be repaired at the roadside by a breakdown patrols, meaning drivers cannot continue on their journeys. The report comes in the wake of AA bosses claiming that EV breakdowns are more common despite a general misconception that they are more reliable because they have fewer moving parts than a traditional car... Unsurprisingly, EVs were the fuel type most commonly transported (because they can't be towed due to the risk of damage to the e-motors if the driven wheels are rotated) to garages for repairs... The report comes just days after bosses at the AA reported that it is attending a higher share of electric car breakdowns that petrols and diesels. Jakob Pfaudler, CEO at the breakdown service provider, said EVs are prone not only to punctures and flat batteries like all cars with internal combustion engines, but also to a host of problems relating specifically to electric models, including jammed charging cables and technical glitches."
This makes it even more important to ban non-electric cars, or people won't choose them

European electric car market suffers ‘devastating’ collapse - "Falling electric vehicle (EV) sales in Germany dealt a “devastating” blow to the European market last year, as Chinese carmakers powered ahead of rivals in the West. The number of EVs sold across Europe fell by 3pc to 3m during 2024, according to data from analysis firm Rho Motion. This came after the withdrawal of government tax breaks triggered a collapse in sales across Germany... the removal of subsidies in Germany “had a devastating impact on the whole European market”. Alluding to threats by US president-elect Donald Trump to take a similar decision, Mr Lester added: “If the US follows suit, we may see the same there.”"
Left wingers will continue mocking Tesla for declining sales

Opinion: The EV fantasy is running out of juice fast - "In 2023, the Quebec government pledged $2.9 billion in financing to secure a deal with Swedish EV manufacturer Northvolt . Ottawa committed $1.34 billion to build the plant and another $3-billion worth of incentives. So far, per the CBC , the Quebec government has “invested $270 million in the project and the provincial pension investor, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), has also invested $200 million.” In 2024, Northvolt declared bankruptcy in Sweden, throwing its Canadian plans into limbo . Last month, the same Quebec government announced it will not rescue Lion Electric from its financial distress, which became obvious in December 2024 when the company filed for creditor protection (again, well before the tariff war). According to the Bloomberg report , “Lion thrived during the electric vehicle boom, reaching a market capitalization of US$4.2 billion in 2021 and growing to 1,400 employees the next year. Then the market for electric vehicles went through a tough period, and it became far more difficult for manufacturers to raise capital.” The Quebec government had already lost $177 million on investments in Lion, and the federal government $30 million, by the time the company filed for creditor protection. Last year, Ford delayed production of an electric SUV at its Oakville plant and Umicore halted spending on a $2.8-billion battery materials plant in eastern Ontario. In April, General Motors announced it will close the CAMI electric van assembly plant in Ontario, with plans to reopen in the fall at half-capacity to “align production schedules with current demand.” It has also temporarily laid off hundreds of workers at its Ingersoll, Ontario, plant that produces an electric delivery vehicle that it isn’t selling as well as hoped. Still more examples of EV fizzle also predate the tariff war. Government “investments” in Stellantis and LG Energy Solution and Ford Motor Company have fallen flat and dissolved, been paused or remain in limbo. And projects for Canada’s EV supply chain remain years away from production. “Of the four multibillion-dollar battery cell manufacturing plants announced for Canada,” automotive reporter Gabriel Friedman wrote in these pages in January, “only one … (has) progressed into even the construction phase.” What’s the moral of the story? Once again, the fevered dreams of government planners who seek to pick winning technologies in a major economic sector have proven to be just that, fevered dreams. In 2025, some 125 years since consumers first had a choice of electric vehicles or internal combustion vehicles (ICE), the ICE vehicles are still winning in economically-free markets. Without massive government subsidies to EVs, there would be no contest at all. It would be ICE by a landslide. In the face of this reality, the new federal government should terminate any programs that try to force EV technologies into the marketplace, and rescind plans to have all new light-duty vehicle sales be EVs by 2035. It’s just not going to happen, and planning for a fantasy is neither sound government policy nor sound use of taxpayer money."

EV mandate risks being next carbon tax, EV industry warns - "The head of a national association representing the electric transportation industry says the federal government, and provinces with a zero-emission vehicle sales mandate, should make “short-term adjustments” to their programs at the risk of the policy going the way of the now-cancelled consumer carbon tax. Electric Mobility Canada President Daniel Breton’s comments come as auto-makers and others in the industry express a fresh round of concerns about the Liberals’ sales mandate, which has set a target of reaching 100-per-cent zero-emission vehicle sales by 2035, beginning with initial targets of hitting 60 per cent by 2030 and at least 20 per cent by 2026... “Lowering the targets between now and 2030 would be a reasonable path.” With Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre ratcheting up his efforts in demanding that the mandate be scrapped, arguing it removes “choice” from consumers, Breton, a former Quebec environment minister, says the risk of not making short-term adjustments at the federal level is that, “this is going to become a political hot potato.” “Like the carbon tax was.”... While manufacturers have long expressed opposition to the government mandating the sale of electric vehicles, Ford Canada CEO Bev Goodman recently called for the regulation to be scrapped in light of falling sales of these vehicles. Back in March, Statistics Canada reported a nearly 45-per-cent drop in the sale of new zero-emission vehicles from the same month the year before. The agency reported in April that the sales of these vehicles fell to around 7.6 per cent. Leading automotive associations have pointed to these decreases as evidence that hitting the 20 per cent sales target is unrealistic and creates additional burden on Canada’s auto-sector at a time when it is dealing with a trade war with the U.S., which under President Donald Trump has dropped the electrification goals introduced by former president Joe Biden."
How ignorant. Doesn't he know that electric vehicles are the future?

Industry says environment minister won't relent on EV mandate - "Automakers calling on Ottawa to roll back its electric-vehicle mandate say their case has so far failed to sway Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin, who appears “committed” to keeping it in place...   Since its introduction, the mandate has been challenged by a dramatic drop in sales from 2024, which proponents attribute to Ottawa’s decision earlier in the year to halt its purchase incentive, which it has committed to reintroduce, but with no firm timeline...  Any changes the government might consider would take time to implement, he said, adding that there was “deep frustration” within the industry as it must decide how to meet the upcoming targets, with one option being to restrict sales of internal combustion engine vehicles... In a statement, a spokesperson for Dabrusin said the policy was implemented to give Canadians access “to affordable zero-emission vehicles to fight climate change with Canadian innovation.”"
Clearly, if vehicle manufacturers refuse to sell electric vehicles at lower prices, possibly below cost, they are greedy and responsible for not giving Canadians access to affordable zero-emission vehicles to fight climate change with Canadian innovation

Pull plug on gas engine ban, Tories urge government - "polling conducted earlier this year suggests the majority of Canadians aren’t a fan of this keystone policy of the Justin Trudeau Liberals , which calls for a total ban on the sale of new gas and diesel vehicles by 2035... Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin accused the Tories of taking unfair aim at Canada’s auto industry... Canada’s auto industry have gone on record in their opposition to the Liberals’ plan, with Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers’ Association (CVMA) president Brian Kingston describing the Liberal policy earlier this year as “complete fantasy.” “There is no pathway to 100% zero-emission vehicle sales in the next 10 years with the supports being provided to Canadians,” he said during a January 2025 news conference. “Dictating what vehicles Canadians can and cannot buy, without providing them with the supports necessary to switch to electric is a made-in-Canada policy failure.”"

Canada needs to open up its electric vehicle market (aka "EVs aren’t being forced on Canadians — if anything, they’re being withheld from them")
I love the cope. Government quotas aren't forcing anyone to do anything

Carney pauses electric vehicle mandate, announces new 'buy Canadian' policy - "Carney also announced that Canada’s zero-emission vehicle sales mandate that was set to come into effect in 2026 will be delayed for a year while the government reviews the policy... He also announced a new “buy Canadian” policy that would require the federal government to use Canadian suppliers and require local content when there are no domestic suppliers available. The approach would extend to Crown corporations and “provide a roadmap” for provinces and municipalities to follow suit... "Now we need to use government procurement using Canadian taxpayer dollars to spur Canadian businesses for longer term prosperity to support Canadian industries,” Carney said. Carney’s announcement comes amid a sluggish Canadian economy that shed 66,000 jobs in August. Friday morning, new data showed Canada’s unemployment rate hit a nine-year high at 7.1 per cent last month. “This makes decisive action crucial,” Carney said of the new bleak unemployment numbers. Carney announced dozens of measures and billions of dollars-worth of new funds that would compel the federal government to prioritize Canadian suppliers in procurement, create a new $370-million biofuel production incentive and a $5 billion “Strategic Response Fund” to help tariff-impacted companies retool and retrain employees. Buried within the announcement is also a review of a series of controversial Justin Trudeau-era climate policies, including promising unspecified changes of the Clean Fuel Regulations. Mockingly branded the “carbon tax 2.0” by Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, the regulation aim to boost innovation and adoption of green technologies and expand the use of low carbon intensity fuels."

Zarah Sultana MP on X - "A young Sikh woman was raped in Oldbury by two men who told her: “You don’t belong in this country, get out.” This horrific act shows how racism and misogyny feed each other. When communities are dehumanised, violence follows. We must defeat the far right in the streets and at the ballot box, and never let their poison be normalised."
Catherine Blaiklock BP on X - "100,000 white girls raped by Pakistanis. How many tweets did you write @zarahsultana All rape is terrible." Lara Brown on X - "Shaun Davies, Labour MP for Telford, just told the House that Amber Rudd and Rishi Sunak 'refused to provide a statutory inquiry into' grooming gangs in Telford. Here is a letter Shaun Davies and 9 other men signed asking Amber Rudd not to investigate Telford." Labour council leader resigns after ‘calling grooming gang victims white trash’ - "A Labour council leader who appeared to call Rotherham grooming gang victims “white trash” has been forced to resign.  Dennis Jones was suspended by Peterborough’s Labour group following the revelation of his WhatsApp message to a young woman.  Independent councillor Daisy Blakemore-Creedon, 19, said she received the comment last month after writing to him: “I care about safety, and why should immigration put women’s safety at risk[?].”  On her X account, she shared a screenshot of a message labelled from Mr Jones, which read: “Oh so white British cops f---ing poor white trash in Rotherham is OK, is it? Get a f---ing grip Daisy.  “You are aiming for populist votes and attention. Forgive me but you are bright enough to know what you are doing and, politically, I wish you no luck at all. But you know what you are setting out to do.”  Ms Blakemore-Creedon responded: “The phrase ‘white trash’ is demeaning and classist. It dismisses victims of grooming gangs as if their suffering is less serious or less worthy of respect because of their background. That is completely unacceptable, especially from someone in public life.” Mr Jones remains a councillor and will serve as an independent, pending an investigation." Labour minister Lucy Powell sorry over grooming gangs 'dog whistle' remark - "Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell has sought to clarify her remarks after she appeared to describe grooming gangs as a "dog whistle" issue, prompting a backlash from political opponents.  During a heated debate on BBC Radio 4's Any Questions on Friday, commentator and Reform UK member Tim Montgomerie asked Powell if she had seen a recent Channel 4 documentary on grooming gangs.  Powell responded "oh, we want to blow that little trumpet now do we" and "let's get that dog whistle out shall we"."

Steven Edginton on X - "To many in the British system ‘preventing racism’ is more important than stopping or investigating child rape. Such twisted morality is not virtuous but evil. They believe they are stopping ‘another Hitler’ and sacrificing white English girls is a price worth paying." Matt Goodwin on X - "Journalists. Many of the people who have written to me about the rape gangs are British Hindus and Sikhs who are utterly appalled. Referring to the rape gangs as “Asian” does them a disservice. Be clear with your words. It is Pakistani Muslim." These are not ‘Asian’ grooming gangs, they are Kashmiri Muslim - "As someone who believes in strong law and order, I have found the level of institutional paralysis over tackling the grooming gangs – for fears of being accused of racism and Islamophobia – to be a grand national failure. In a particularly eye-popping passage in Casey’s report, she reveals how the word “Pakistani” was Tippexed out of one child victim’s file.  While there is no doubt that a diversity of ethnicities and faiths are involved in these gangs, the use of the term “Asian” in connection to them has long masked the ever-mounting evidence that it is men of Pakistani Muslim origin specifically who are vastly overrepresented among perpetrators of these heinous sex crimes. A 2020 academic study by professors Kish Bhatti-Sinclair and Charles Sutcliffe, based on data consisting of 498 defendants across 73 prosecutions between 1997 and 2017, found that Muslims – particularly Pakistanis – dominated prosecutions for group-localised child sexual exploitation (GLCSE).  Indeed, it concluded that Pakistani and Muslim proportions of the local population are “powerful variables” in explaining the level of GLCSE prosecutions in an area. Meanwhile, the proportion of Bangladeshis and Indians in a local area had no effect. In fact, the proportion of Hindus in a local area had a negative impact on the levels of GLCSE prosecutions. Using the term “Asian” is incredibly unhelpful in this context. Gujarati Hindus, Goan Catholics, and Punjabi Sikhs should not be conflated with the men perpetrating these crimes. It is time for us to shine a light on the poorly integrated Muslim communities originating from Mirpur in Azad Kashmir, which have formed patriarchal clans along kinship lines – known as “biraderi”. These Mirpuri grooming gangs have shown an ugly side of family solidarity, multi-generational cohesion and tight-knit community networks: this is the dark underbelly of modern multicultural Britain... some accounts of this sexual violence and brutality would not be out of place in history books on the campaign of systematic rape and torture against Bangladeshi women and girls by the Pakistani forces during the 1971 Liberation War... The national statutory inquiry into grooming gangs announced by Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, must examine how cultural codes – such as so-called “community protection” – have enabled group-based child sexual exploitation and abuse" Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "Here is how the Casey report addresses people like you:
“Despite reviews, reports and inquiries raising questions about men from Asian and Pakistani backgrounds grooming and sexually exploiting young white girls, the system has consistently failed to fully acknowledge this… Instead, flawed data is used repeatedly to dismiss claims of ‘Asian grooming gangs’ as sensationalised, biased or untrue.”
“We find it hard to understand how the Home Office reached their conclusion that the ethnicity of group-based child sexual exploitation offenders is likely to be in line with child sexual abuse more generally and with the general population, ie ‘with the majority of offenders being white’.”
Of the fifteen local Serious Case Reviews they looked at where ethnicity could be identified, the report finds that “ten involved perpetrators of predominantly Asian or Pakistani ethnicity”. In only one case were the perpetrators white
“In addition to these Serious Case Reviews, other high profile prosecutions of which we are aware… indicate a wide geographical spread of cases involving Asian/Pakistani perpetrators across the country.”
“More often than not, the official reports do not discuss the perpetrators, let alone their ethnicity or any cultural drivers. There is a palpable discomfort in any discussion of ethnicity in most of them. Where ethnicity is mentioned, it is referred to in euphemisms such as ‘the local community’, or it is buried deep in the report. Most choose to reside in more comfortable territory”
“It is NOT racist to want to examine the ethnicity of offenders… The people who downplay the ethnicity of perpetrators are continuing to let down society, local communities and victims”" Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "The true scandal is that there are so many people in the UK who would rather girls get raped or murdered than run the risk of someone calling them a racist.  Remember that a security guard at Manchester Arena saw one of the bombers and thought he looked suspicious, but didn't do anything because he didn't want to be accused of racism. See BBC link below.  By the way, does anyone read the Guardian? Because it's a huge part of the problem. Their columnists will call people racist on virtually any grounds whatsoever. The Guardian has created this culture of fear - another example below." Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "and now it turns out the Welsh Assembly refused to provide information to her

seems a few places don't quite believe in "if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear"" Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "Anyone who grew up in and around these towns knew this for decades.  It wasn't a secret, everyone knew, there's a reason my mum told my sisters to avoid certain people based on race.  But of course this was all forced into working class towns and communities. And those in the media and now online happily deemed those that suffered this horrendous crime against their family and friends as thick bigots and racists and 'hurrdurr scared of change, peasants?' because who gives a fuck about those silly little working class oiks , eh?  It's nice to finally see it can't just be buried, but crushing to see so many people try and seemingly run defence and hand wave away the report. Though I won't pretend it shocks me."
"family in South Yorkshire, visited a lot growing up, live here now.  it was widely known then that if say my sister needed to use a taxi, she wasn't going alone, parts of town to avoid and very well known that South Yorkshire Police were most certainly not on your side" Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "Hardly surprising. One thing I am shocked by is that same of the victims were actually prosecuted. Which means they were potentially prosecuted under Starmers watch. The man who bragged about how proud he was of his record as the head of public prosecutions" Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "Lmao no, we just don't call them grooming gangs when it's white men doing the same thing.  This was happening in the 90s when I was a teen. Teenagers, mostly in care homes, or vulnerable in other ways, being passed around like doobies by weird old men. The police knew then and didn't challenge it (they would regularly pick the kids up and return them to the care homes), so to me, the race/religion thing is just the next excuse to not give a shit for care home kids."
"I have never heard of victims who said the police arrested the parents, labeled her a prostitute, and had the council protect the rapists and cover up the abuse of the rapists and the rapists' families for decades and in over 50 cities like they have for Pakistani muslim men. There are thousands of non-muslim girls who have this experience with the Pakistani community, especially those living in labour areas.  There must be numerous examples of victims like you mentioned who were treated the same way but you never provide any actual proof. It's just false whataboutism to downplay the vast network of Pakistani gangs who overwhelmingly, in total and per capita, commit GCSE crimes.  There has not been one instance of a white gang mass raping and torturing muslim girls all over the UK.  An even within the Asian group, there are ZERO East and Southeast Asians who commit these crimes. Not one has been convicted of GCSE. It's clearly an issue in the Pakistani community." Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "People on the left will literally see proof of a highly organized, systematic rape and sexual abuse ring of foreign men who specifically targeted the most vulnerable of native population based primarily on their race and be like “erm, it’s actually all men sweaty 🤓☝️”" Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "Do you remember when ‘Black Lives Matter’ was really big, and there was that oft-repeated talking point about why ‘All Lives Matter’ was offensive because it supposedly refused to acknowledge that there was a specific problem with black lives being seen not to matter?  That’s what you’re doing now. Responding to the fact that abuse of white British victims by Pakistani grooming gangs has been swept under the carpet by saying ‘well, I don’t think ANY abuse should be swept under the carpet, whether white, black or Asian…’  Well, obviously. When we say that this form of abuse shouldn’t be ignored, we don’t mean ‘but other forms should be ignored instead’"
Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says thoughts on this? : r/AskBrits - "And yet when BLM took to the stage in England we were all told saying "all lives matter" was a racist attempt to deflect from the issue at hand, in fact people were investigated by the police for say all lives matter.  So saying "all rapes need to be dealt with" is thefore the same, a racist deflection from the topic at hand.  There are no examples of white abusers targetting another ethnicity sytemeically by the hundreds of thousands and it getting swet under the rug so your comparison is invalid.  It is a racial issue, an explictly racial issue.  British society with BLM and DEI made the decision that race does matter and we do in fact get to have discussion and make policies based off race and race relations.  So yeah I want specifically white children to be specifically protected from pakistani men to deal with this specific issue.  Being colour-blind is racist was the go to mantra during 2020's well you cant put the genie back in the bottle the moment white people recognise the racist abuse they are experiencing, if it applies to every group then it applies to white people too." Grooming gangs: Suella Braverman demands apology from Ipso after being 'vilified and cancelled' over rape gangs comments - "Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman has demanded an apology from the Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) over a 2023 ruling that required a correction to her comments about grooming gangs.  Speaking to GB News presenter Martin Daubney, Braverman said she would be writing to Ipso requesting they retract their decision, which found her claim that UK child grooming gangs were made up of "almost all British-Pakistani men" was misleading.  "I'd like an apology. I don't want an apology for me. I want an apology for the victims," Braverman said.  The Conservative MP insisted Ipso's ruling was "erroneous" and said she would cite findings from Baroness Casey that "unequivocally say that the 2020 Home Office report was wrong and misleading, and should never have been relied upon by Ipso"... Braverman launched a scathing attack on what she called "well-meaning liberals" and mainstream media outlets for attempting to "cancel" her when she raised concerns about race in relation to grooming gangs.  She told The People's Channel: "When I spoke about it I received a barrage of attacks and vilification from the establishment from well-meaning liberals, from Sky News and the mainstream media, from The Guardian and I think about 50 charities wrote in to complain."  The former Home Secretary claimed organisations including Ipso "attempted to cancel me" and "attempted to shut down the debate because I wanted to talk about race, and I wanted to talk about the injustice on behalf of the victims".  She argued that victims had been "branded as far right" and "blocked at every avenue because of institutional cowardice"...  former Labour MP Ann Cryer "was vilified by her own Labour Party members" for raising concerns.  The former Home Secretary also praised journalists who have attempted to highlight the issue, naming "Charlie Peters of GB News, the whole GB News team" and "Andrew Norfolk of The Times".  "All of these people who have tried to raise the alarm over the years have been shot down," Braverman said.  She added: The truth is not racist. And those of us who have been speaking the truth have to keep doing so."" Connor Tomlinson on X - "4 percent of the population. 64 percent of child gang-rapists. There is no ambiguity. The Casey review data is daming. None of these Pakistani paedophiles should be in this country. They should all be deported. Not one more should ever be allowed to enter Britain again."
Wilfred Reilly on X - "Worth noting that Brits - who still make up 80+% of the country - are only ~20% of all child sex offenders. In addition to Pakistanis, Yeminis, some Slavs, and "others" like Somalis are wildly over-represented. Distractions like "The problem is ALL MEN!!!" likely helped this go on as long as it did."
Per capita is only important when it makes the West/white people look bad Ethnicity of grooming gangs 'shied away from', Casey report says - "The ethnicity of people involved in grooming gangs has been "shied away from" by authorities, according to a new report by Baroness Louise Casey.  The finding comes after the peer was tasked with producing an audit on the nature and scale of group-based child sexual abuse in England and Wales.  The report said ethnicity data is not recorded for two-thirds of grooming gang perpetrators, meaning it is not robust enough to support conclusions about offenders at a national level... "We found that the ethnicity of perpetrators is shied away from and is still not recorded for two-thirds of perpetrators, so we are unable to provide any accurate assessment from the nationally collected data".  However, it added that at a local level for three police forces - Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire - there was enough evidence to show a "disproportionate numbers of men from Asian ethnic backgrounds amongst suspects for group-based child sexual exploitation". Cooper said: "Ignoring the issues, not examining and exposing them to the light, allows the criminality and depravity of a minority of men to be used to marginalise whole communities."  In a later interview, Lady Casey said the data should be investigated as it was "only helping the bad people" not to give a full picture of the situation, adding: "You're doing a disservice to two sets of population, the Pakistani and Asian heritage community, and victims."  The report concluded that ignorance and a fear of being seen as racist meant organisations tasked with protecting children turned a blind eye to abuse. "We found many examples of organisations avoiding the topic altogether for fear of appearing racist, raising community tensions or causing community cohesion problems," the report said.  The audit criticised the "failure" of the authorities to "understand" the nature and scale of the problem to date."
Left wing modus operandi: refuse to record data that will point to an inconvenient conclusion, then accuse those pointing to what the remaining data suggest of spreading misinformation because there isn't data to make that claim
Yet another example of the amazing results of political correctness and wokeness

Raja Miah @recu...: "As the Home Secretary hides from these latest revelations of Pakistani police officers raping little White girls in the back of marked police cars, the IOPC have confirmed they are "satisfied that there is no conflict of interest" from South Yorkshire police investigating its own officers." Make Britain Great Again on X - "Police officers caught her being raped on an industrial estate, 14-year-old Jamie Lee Jones should have felt relief that they had come to her rescue. instead of arresting her attacker - an illegal immigrant – they put HER in handcuffs and arrested her"
Jonatan Pallesen on X - "The UK is a sick, decaying country. They should get themselves right, stop the mass immigration, and protect their children. "Jamie Leigh was then taken from her family and placed in care, where the abuse got worse and gangs of rapists from Oldham’s Pakistani, Kurdish and Bengali communities were given free reign to continue their sickening campaign of grooming and rape until she was 18.  Groomers would even climb through her bedroom window at the care home or pick her up and traffic her to Rochdale, Bradford and Manchester to be gang raped."  I know we in Denmark aren't perfect, but we aren't this." Keir Starmer says GB News viewers are not 'far right' for being concerned about grooming gangs - ""there's one thing that I find frustrating, it's politicians who had the opportunity in power to do something about it and did absolutely nothing."  He added: "I've been raising this issue for 15 years. I'm really glad that I'm the Prime Minister that's actually now put in place a National Inquiry, something which wasn't done under the last government."  Starmer added that he wanted the inquiry to investigate any cover-ups by public bodies like councillors, police and even MPs." Rotherham police accused of preparing false document after father arrested while attempting to rescue daughter from grooming gangs - "Police officers incorrectly produced a custody sheet for an arrest that never happened, according to the father of a grooming gangs’ victim.  He believes the records may have been falsified in order to cover up two separate arrests when he was trying to rescue his daughter from a grooming gang den in Rotherham. South Yorkshire Police has confirmed it has launched an investigation into the case.   Jack, not his real name, is the father of Elizabeth, also a pseudonym, who was abused by gangs of rapists in a flat in Rotherham for 10 weeks in 2005.  She was lured to the house by Shafina Ali, a white woman who converted to Islam, before being exploited, raped and abused by countless men in the building, across Rotherham, and also elsewhere in the country after being trafficked. Like many Rotherham parents, Jack knew his daughter was being exploited and desperately sought police support. He told GB News that he made hundreds of reports to South Yorkshire Police about her being missing.  But instead of the force sufficiently investigating the issue, Jack claimed that they arrested him twice as he tried to rescue his daughter from the den.  On the first occasion, he said he went to the flat, was arrested and then swiftly de-arrested at his nearby address and told not to go back.  However, he ignored this guidance and returned to the building where Elizabeth was being held. He claimed that he started kicking the door and shouting. He said that he was arrested again, only this time he was taken to Rotherham police station... The police record, accessed in June 2021, has written that Jack’s address and age are inconsistent with what was accurate for that period.  The listed address is a property that Jack did not live at until 2010.  GB News has had sight of council tax records supplied by the local authority which demonstrate that Jack lived at a different property around the period of the alleged arrests.  Jack told GB News that he believes this was a mistake made by the police as they retrospectively developed the custody sheet for what he described as a false arrest record... “As we all know about Rotherham, we were told we was the only family going through this. We reported it over 200 times over months. We were told: ‘it’s you and your wife’s bad parenting because it's only happening to you’.”"

Links - 19th October 2025 (Get Woke, Go Broke [including Doctor Who])

Meme - Nerdrotic @Nerdrotic: "WTF?? They actually said this in Doctor Who"
"Planet of the incels."

Doctor Who Ratings Crash to All-Time Low in Viewership - "Another round of applause goes out to Russell T Davies for completely destroying Doctor Who, as it’s now confirmed that the new season’s launch on Saturday hit the lowest viewership in the show’s 60+ year history.  Following the first season from last year which achieved the worst ratings in the history of Doctor Who, Davies and Ncuti Gatwa have set a new record ratings low. The UK overnight ratings reveal that the premiere episode of Doctor Who Season 2 was only watched by 2 million viewers.  That beats the penultimate episode of last year, the previous record-setting low, which drew in 2.02 million viewers. Last year’s season finale of 2.25M was also the least-watched season finale in the show’s entire 60-year history as well. There have been rumors that Doctor Who is getting canceled and is about to go on a big hiatus following the conclusion of Season 2...   It’s known that none of the Doctor Who episodes on Disney+ made the Nielsen ratings, which are automatically turned on in your accounts...   Similar to the Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker era, and last season, the fan reaction to Doctor Who Season 2 hasn’t been positive. Currently, on Rotten Tomatoes, the Season 2 premiere episode only has a 45% fan score. The fan score, including all the episodes from 2023, is only at 36%."

Doctor Who confirms overnight ratings for Lux – lowest in series history - "The second episode of Doctor Who's 15th season suffered a fairly substantial drop in ratings – with just 1.58 million viewers tuning in to watch Lux on BBC One last night (Saturday 19th April).  That's down from the 2 million who watched last week's season premiere The Robot Revolution and marks the lowest overnight viewership ratings in the show's history, the first time ever that the figures have dipped below 2 million."

Queer 'Doctor Who' Actor Tells Viewers To 'Turn off the TV' If They Don't Like Him; Ratings Then Drop 50% - "The show heavily promoted in the press that Gatwa is the "first openly queer black actor' to assume the role of "The Doctor." In April, Gatwa told critics of the promotion to stop watching the series.  "Don't watch. Turn off the TV. Go and touch grass, please, for God's sake," Gatwa told Variety. "As the world darkens — and I do think the world is darkening around queer rights — there is a joy and a celebration, and there’s a community," he later added.  "I feel like anyone that has a problem with someone who’s not a straight white man playing this character, you’re not really, truly a fan of the show. You’ve not been watching! Because the show is about regeneration, and the Doctor is an alien — why would they only choose to be this sort of person?"  Drag queen Jinkx Monsoon, who plays Maestro in the season, echoed the sentiment. "To the people who have issues: The show that you love was created by a queer person. Get over it! A lot of people are going to really love this, and I think this season is going to create a lot of new Doctor Who fans. And if we lose some of the transphobic ones, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!" exclaimed Monsoon in an interview with Slate.  Gatwa, Monsoon and the BBC's message is clear: if you don't like the show's promotion of gender ideology, turn the channel.  Update: The viewers responded – by turning off the channel."

DOCTOR WHO's Ratings Drop Due to 'Woke' Storylines - "over the last few years, the popular sci-fi show’s ratings have taken a major dip. The show’s 2024 season finale brought in just 2.25 million viewers — the lowest number in DOCTOR WHO’s history.  Other episodes had equally low viewing numbers. After an episode in the 2024 season featured drag queens and scenes set in a gay nightclub, ratings dipped again — Episode 3 had 2.04 million viewers, while Episode 7 earned just 2.02 million.  There have also been many transgender and nonbinary characters introduced in recent episodes, which have led to complaints from the Family Education Trust that DOCTOR WHO is “promoting the cult of gender ideology.”"

Doctor Who’s former Time Lord star criticises modern version of show - "Doctor Who star Peter Davison, who played the Time Lord from 1982 to 1984, has criticised recent series of the long-running programme for their “huge gaps in narrative”. Davison, 74, who followed Tom Baker as the fifth incarnation of the character, has questioned the quality of the science-fiction show since the BBC rebooted it in 2005... he said the show now prioritises visual effects over story."
Clearly, he doesn't know anything about Doctor Who and is just an old bigot dinosaur who needs to die (off)

No Babes, No Box Office: Thunderbolts and Ballerina Bomb with Women - "you need to know your audience, as the “intended and targeted audience” isn’t showing up, and you know what? They never have.  It was a similar story for both The Marvels and Madame Web, two giant failures: the ladies aren’t bothering with this garbage. It’s known that only a small number of hardcore fanboys are showing up. It’s the same story for the MCU shows on Disney+. It’s the same for the Disney Star Wars Trilogy and various shows. Throw in Doctor Who, Terminator, and the list goes on and on and on.  You have to wonder why Hollywood keeps putting out this sort of content. There’s failure after failure after failure, yet they keep churning it out. Is it incompetence? Do they like losing money? Or are they getting incentivized and subsidized via DEI funding to put out this crap? I mean, they can’t be this stupid, right? There has to be a reason.   Back to Thunderbolts and Ballerina, official data reveals their audience was made up mostly of males. Females avoided the flicks. Thunderbolts skewed 65% male, and Ballerina 63% male. Of that, 26% were Hispanic for Thunderbolts, and 27% for Ballerina, which is considered low. To boot, Ballerina features Hispanic actress Ana de Armas in the starring role, so they didn’t even come out to support their own people.  Feminist YouTuber Grace Randolph actually pointed out the numbers, and she questioned, “What has happened to the appeal of killer babes? Angelina Jolie built an entire career off of it.” Randolph also points to how Scarlett Johansson has performed better with Lucy.   My answer: isn’t it obvious? Where are these killer babes? Again, as I said in my previous article, there’s no T&A. There are no killer babes. Scarlett Johansson was super sexy as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers. She even pranced in front of Jon Favreau and the production team, showing off her costume as Favreau checked her out up and down. Nowadays, this would probably land you on the front page of Variety, with claims of sexual harassment. Why then did Black Widow fail? Per Johansson’s own words, it’s a #MeToo movie. Florence Pugh and Yelena? She’s depressed. There’s no T&A, and her character comes off boring, dull, and grey. Where’s the sex appeal? Where are the boyfriends?"   They got it right with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow when the MCU first started.  A female assassin will use her feminine traits to get close to the target. Females don’t have the strength of males. That’s just a fact. A female assassin isn’t going to be used to go in guns a blazin’ and kick the ass out of 250lbs dudes. She’s going to use her sex appeal and her brains, get close to the target, and then take him out. Sure, she’ll kick some ass, but she’s gotta look good doing it. And Scarlett Johansson does that (she also looks good in Jurassic World Rebirth). Does Yelena?... Have you guys noticed that all the girls in these various movies and TV shows look SUPER SEXY on the Red Carpet, in interviews, and on their social media (Pugh even showed off her ass to promote Thunderbolts on Jimmy Kimmel)? Yet, their characters in the movies have zero sex appeal? Maybe there’s a big clue where to start."
Damn internalised sexism! We need to churn out even more female-centric and female-led content to re-educate the audience, including the women!

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League $100 Edition is Available for Just $5 - "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's Digital Deluxe Edition is available for pennies on the dollar on the Epic Games Store, one of the most popular PC storefronts. Having been released to poor reception back in February, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was panned largely for its live service elements and subpar third-person action gameplay. Sentiment surrounding the game was so negative that refunds were even issued to players by PlayStation. Furthermore, the game's unimpressive sales numbers led to a series of unfortunate layoffs at developer Rocksteady in October... Despite the post-launch support, player numbers for the game have only plummeted since launch, leading to Rocksteady reportedly scaling back on its support for the game. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's future remains uncertain despite a number of leaked characters that are still yet to be potentially added in future seasons. Just about nine months since the game's release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's $100 Digital Deluxe Edition has been temporarily lowered to just $5 on the Epic Games Store."

Rocksteady terminates Suicide Squad support in January 2025 - "Shortly after negative reception to its gameplay reveal at a 2023 PlayStation showcase, the game was delayed into 2024.  Not long after its launch this past February, WB called the game a financial disappointment and deemed it the catalyst for a "tough quarter."... This past September, Rocksteady cut staff, largely across its QA team."

Meme - Snoweira ♡ ꙳•‧͙🎀 @HaileyEira: "This woman was so useless.  She alienated Halo's core fanbase, called them a problem, and aimed to market Halo to a totally different crowd.  Her primary focus was entirely on diversity.  She drove the franchise into the ground, struggled to manage a studio, never once held anyone at 343 Industries accountable for their bad behavior, lied under oath, and wanted to keep the original creators of Halo away from the franchise.  She was praised by numerous gaming news sites and even listed by Fortune as one of the "10 powerful women in video games" in 2014. She also received the Hall of Fame award at the DICE Awards.  Yet, the true visionaries, those who genuinely deserve recognition and accolades, remain uncelebrated — like Max Hoberman, whose groundbreaking designs for Halo 2 & 3 revolutionized online gaming and laid the foundations for Xbox Live.  Microsoft is truly pathetic."

PS5 ‘Astro Bot’ Reviews: It’s The Best Game Of The Year
Meme - "This is Team Asobi, the devs behind Astro Bot. Notice anything? *group of Asian and White people, mostly men, who all look normal*"
Weird. I thought that without diversity, businesses were doomed to fail

Perma Banned | Facebook - "Ramble Post: This has been on my mind for a bit and I'll be blunt. I am glad that Astro Bot was a success for Sony...but I also can't help but recognise the irony of it all. Astro Bot was developed by Team Asobi - REMNANTS of Sony's once famous Japan Studio, a fraction of a fraction of what was if you will.  The same Japan Studio that existed for roughly as long as PlayStation existed, was being GUTTED for years and finally completely erased by 2021... By gleeful Sony Interactive Entertainment Execs in California, where you have Execs like Hermen Hulst, gloating and bragging about gutting Japan Studio. Because to Sony's Gaming division, all they cared for at that point - were glorified cinematic movie games from Western AAA developers, or Live Service slop, also from Western AAA developers. And what did these decisions and betrayal of their roots did for them? One of the biggest, if not THE biggest AAA flops in known Video Game history comparable to ET. Concord costed Sony, $150-$200 MILLION in revenue. The BEST estimate of sales this now Live-Service game Sony churned out, sold 25k...before Sony refunded the purchase to EVERYONE. Ultimately who came to pull Sony out from this hole they dug themselves into?  Remnants of Japan Studios, Team Asobi. The same Japan-based 1st Party studio, Execs at Sony Interactive Entertainment kept giving a cold shoulder towards, and gloated about laying off. Again the irony is rich. Sonyfornia shunned the OG Japan Studio and ended it...only for what's left of Japan Studio possibly save them. So, I am glad people like Astro Bot. I also hope that Sony's Playstation division learns from this and perhaps realised they made a VERY BIG mistake over Japan Studio. But honestly knowing Sony, I'm not holding my breath."

Amazon Studios Founder Criticizes Hollywood's Turn To Ideology Over Entertainment: "Making Customers The Enemy Of Your Industry Is Never Viable" - "In performing a personal postmortem on Kamala Harris’ failed presidential campaign, Amazon Studios founder Roy Price has opined that the explanation for her recent loss is the same as the one behind Hollywood’s ongoing cultural decline: Namely, that they both insist “on catering to an ideological bubble while alienating vast swaths of the potential audience”.   A veteran of the Hollywood production scene, Price previously served as the VP of Creative Affairs for Disney TV Animation from 1993-2000, during which time he oversaw development of such hits as Recess, Pepper Ann, and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and the founder of both Amazon Video and Amazon Studios in 2008 and 2010, respectively... “both Hollywood and Harris speak to an America that exists mainly in Hollywood HR departments, Columbia’s faculty lounge, and at CNN and MSNBC [and] America is changing the channel on all that.”... Following a recap of how audiences at large had grown tired of neo-liberal scolds and their often over-the-top and pearl-clutching political rhetoric, Price then opined, “To succeed in art, you have to put art before politics. There are few exceptions.”  “Why did Hollywood people embrace wokeness with such fervor?” he asked. “For most people it is conformity. Hiring decisions are subjective in Hollywood, so there is always pressure to conform. In addition, at this point some people believe that if not for wokeness they would not have their jobs. (They’re probably right about that.) “   “Hollywood is having a difficult time partly because, like Kamala Harris, it has been denying the reality of the audience,” Price continued. “It has not been meeting customer expectations, mostly because it disdains them. It is time to focus on doing well, making great shows, hiring the best people, and responding to customers. Meeting customers where they are. Giving the people what they want. Because making customers the enemy of your industry is never viable.”   Drawing his thoughts to a close, the Hollywood veteran ultimately posited, “Hollywood should make more fun movies and pursue excellence without restraint.”  “It should serve everyone and meet the culture where it is,” Price reasoned. “The super woke may have to leave, or perhaps some can walk it back. But Hollywood could also start by confronting the original sin of this recent era by distinguishing between those excluded for legitimate reasons and those purged in a feral moment of vindictive frenzy to capture power.”"

Woke is the New Disco - by Roy Price - Price Point - "You would think that a campaign infused with Hollywood people would be able to make a commercial. But this failure reveals a deeper problem: the underlying contempt for the audience. Wokeness, both in politics and entertainment, carries within it a strong and explicit element of hostility – particularly toward white people and men. While this approach initially gained compliance through social pressure and corporate acquiescence a few years ago, such accommodations were, of course, temporary. Amongst the people, and in courtrooms, by 2024 wokeness has become toxic. To a large part of the audience, it is an embarrassing, widely resented, relic of the past, and the people need to see that acknowledged by candidates. They, especially men, need to see wokeness disavowed. At this point, it is not enough to be not woke. One must be anti-woke. What does anti-woke mean? It means having a preference for meritocracy, ambition, freedom, and humor. It also means, in an era where cancellations have become ideological weapons, handling accusations with fact-based, level-headed judgment to avoid witch hunts and injustice. It means preferring to think about ambitious plans rather than petty grievances. Despite mainstream media resistance, this cultural tendency gained momentum over the past few years. One key reason: the achievements of the not-woke simply overwhelmed the constant carping and non-achievements of the woke. Ultimately, people want their country to do well. 67% percent of voters knew that the country was on the wrong track partly because this woke philosophy had gained some purchase. Many seem to agree with Quentin Tarantino, Chris Rock, Donald Glover, and Kevin Hart that the obsession with politics holds TV and film back. It did not appeal to the people when the Democratic Party broke all precedents and began to accuse everyone in the Trump administration of crimes, facilitate massive civil cases against them, or repeatedly violate the attorney-client privilege.  It did not appeal to most people when the Democratic Party organized social media censorship at scale.    People eventually did get sick of those accusations against men that seemed obviously manufactured and false. People care about real, serious, and substantiated allegations, but no one can take Julie Swetnick seriously, Jean Carroll seems like a nut with weird fantasies, and Stacey Williams’ last minute Trump accusation fell apart in less than one news cycle. Few believed that Trump was a legitimate felon. You could not convince 100 random Americans that the “felonies” Trump was accused of were legitimate felonies. These criminal accusations were truly a gift to the GOP from the politics gods (second only to “defund the police”). Nothing better illustrates that the D party lives in a bubble than their inability to anticipate the public reaction to his indictments.   No one outside the bubble believed that Trump or the whole GOP was “fascist,” a “Nazi” or “literally Hitler.” One hundred percent of the time devoted to that name calling eroded credibility and was time wasted (especially while the left coddled anti-semitic protestors who actually were pretty close to being “literally Hitler”). People on the whole did not believe that there was a right wing insurrection on January 6. If there is a right wing insurrection, to be honest, you will know it.   You can pretend that the audience is your fantasy audience, but it is not true and you do so at your peril. Kamala Harris was the wokest of the woke - an identity that by 2024 had become 'problematic.' The assumption was that people outside the bubble either didn't matter or would be forced to live in the new cultural world. But, as it turns out, if you live in a bubble, you lose. Back in Hollywood, executives made a similar assumption: that audiences had no alternative to their messaging because every major network was pushing the same ideology. In a difficult time, this has unnecessarily made the business more difficult. Important genres like comedy have been particularly suppressed, as they don't easily conform to ideological restrictions. There are no good consequences to not giving customers what they want. US Box Office is down, churn has been high, and, while there are multiple reasons, creative constraints are one reason. Suddenly when the wokeness came, new American series that customers thought were great (IMDb > 8) became fewer and fewer."
