Denton was white working class, and Gorton was majority Muslim and born abroad. Now it is a single member constituency, with 30% Muslims. The Greens ran a very targeted campaign:

The Greens’ shameless embrace of Islamic sectarianism - spiked - "Appealing almost solely to Muslim voters might seem like a strange way for a major party to go about winning a by-election in Manchester. Producing adverts in Urdu, the native language of Pakistan, might be considered even odder. Yet, to prove that nothing is too strange for British politics in 2026, that is exactly what the Green Party has done in a recent campaign video... [They] appear to be focussing their campaign on Manchester’s Muslim population – as high as 40 per cent in certain Gorton and Denton council wards – as well as the constituency’s large student and graduate population, for whom Gaza is the overriding concern. On the other side, in Urdu, the following words are printed: ‘Labour must be punished for Gaza… To give Muslims a strong voice, give your vote to the Greens.’ Another video, not apparently endorsed by the national Green Party, but made by a Green council candidate, says Muslims ‘must vote for [Spencer]’, as ‘she is standing with the Muslim ummah’ – that is, with Muslims worldwide. The social-media page of Green Party leader Zack Polanski has been notable in recent days for its unwavering focus on Palestine – pinning the blame for casualties in Gaza on the UK’s Labour government, for ‘supporting’ the supposedly ‘genocidal’ Israelis. There can be little doubt that the Islamo-left marriage, which quickly ended in acrimony in Your Party, has been consummated in today’s Green Party. Indeed, the Muslim Vote – the organisation that helped propel four ‘Gaza independent’ candidates to victory in the 2024 General Election, has come out in support of Polanski’s outfit. Just how beholden the Greens are to this bloc was made painfully evident in a recent debate between Spencer and Goodwin on the BBC. Goodwin asked Spencer what she thought was responsible for the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, when Manchester-born Salman Abedi detonated a nail bomb at an Ariana Grande concert, killing himself and 22 others. That Abedi was a jihadist is an uncontested fact. But, as Brendan O’Neill wrote last week on spiked, Spencer could not bring herself to get anywhere near the words ‘Islam’ or ‘Islamism’. Instead, she said, Manchester Arena was bombed because ‘people like [Goodwin] are dividing people’."

Migrant crisis: Immigrants 'to be handed 40 per cent of new homes by 2030' - "Nearly four in 10 new homes built by 2030 will be needed to accommodate migrants arriving in Britain, according to fresh analysis. The research, conducted by the Conservative Party, draws on projections from the Office for Budget Responsibility’s (OBR) latest Economic and Fiscal Outlook. According to the OBR, net migration between 2026 and 2030 is expected to reach almost 1.2 million people. Using ONS data on average household size, the Conservatives estimate this would require around just under 500,000 additional homes for new arrivals alone. Britain is projected to deliver about 1.34 million new homes over the same period. The Conservatives say this means 37.1 per cent of all homes built over the next five years would be needed to house migrants. By 2030, that proportion is forecast to rise to 39.1 per cent. Government figures also suggest migration-driven demand could increase property prices by around £9,489 per home."

Talking to those Caribbean pioneers of the 1950s, there is a bitter resentment that their homeland (Brixton and Hackney) has been taken over by white hipsters, asylum seekers and west Africans. Shut your eyes and they sound no different than white folk in parts of West Yorkshire or Tower Hamlets reminding us of the good old days. Some would say that this borders on racism and the blaming of immigrants for social decline. But what’s interesting about the depopulation of the Caribbean group is that it has been done with little pushback. They are given some statues and they get Windrush Day, but they are actually victims of an open-borders ideology that purports to laud them. Soon the community will be a museum piece pushed aside by mass migration and gentrification. Of all the peoples that have come to Britain since the war, Caribbeans were always the most aligned to England. Yes, they had some crazy leaders who tried to make them into fake Jamaicans or even fake ancient Egyptians but really, they were black Britons who had made the journey home to London. It wasn’t surprising that Caribbean culture soon became integrated into the British mainstream. The music of Desmond Dekker, Prince Buster and Bob Marley was the soundtrack of white British youth culture. Yes, this community lived under severe racism, but it was coupled with integration in schools and housing. You would have thought that those Caribbean elders would be homesick for their ancestral homes in Jamaica or Trinidad, but their good times were in the old Britain, which has now changed and left them behind. The nostalgia for the old country is even stronger with those who decided to leave Britain and return to the Caribbean. Only in their ancestral lands did they realise how English they have become. I met one lady who had a wall covered with DVDs of Coronation Street, Crossroads and The Benny Hill Show. I told her that some of her DVDs would be banned in the new Woke Britain. I asked them what the thing was they missed most about Britain. Strangely enough they said “politeness” and “good manners”. Here was a generation that was supposed to have been savaged by British racism, yet they still had a fondness for our civility."

How London became the 'Sharia capital' of the West with fatwas, 'misogynistic' Islamic 'courts' and blasphemy attacks on the streets - as Donald Trump takes aim at 'terrible mayor' Sadiq Khan - "Formed in 1982, the Islamic Sharia Council in East London is one of at least five Sharia councils in the capital that offer rulings on a range of disputes, including major personal milestones like marriage and divorce... A 2017 Home Office review found 85 Sharia councils - which interpret this law to pass judgments, known as hadiths, were operating in the UK, prompting the country to be described as 'the Sharia court capital of the West'. London was described as a hub for Islamic religious law in Britain, alongside Birmingham, Bradford and Dewsbury. Many believe the estimate on the number of British Sharia councils is an underestimate, with many being unofficial outfits based in the back rooms of mosques. Their fatwas only deal with family, marital or financial disputes - not criminal matters. Even so, critics believe they amount to a parallel civil legal system that conflicts with English legal principles and unfairly favours men over women in their rulings. These claims found some support in a 2020 House of Commons Library report, which found evidence some councils were 'operating in ways that are discriminatory against women', including asking wives to pay their husbands to secure a divorce. Many women in Islamic marriages have not gone through a legal ceremony, meaning they cannot turn to civil courts to defend their rights during a divorce. Defenders of Sharia councils are quick to point out that their findings have no legal status in the courts of England and Wales. While this remains true, concerns were raised last year when one fatwa was cited by a High Court judge in a ruling concerning the case of a critically ill child. The parents of five-year-old Tafida Raqeeb, who had serious brain damage, obtained a fatwa from the Islamic Council stating it was 'absolutely impermissible' for medics at Barts Health NHS Trust in London to remove her life support. In his own ruling, Mr Justice Macdonald described 'having the benefit of a fatwa' while coming to the decision to allow Tafida's parents to seek further treatment. This prompted secular campaigners to claim 'harmful ideologies' were 'gaining legitimacy' in English law, although the judge stated in his ruling that the fatwa was 'simply a valuable restatement of the sanctity of life' rather than a deciding factor in the case. Other religions also run their own tribunals in the UK, with those of the Church of England having jurisdiction over some aspects of church property and criminal conduct by the clergy. Jewish religious tribunals, known as Beth Din, allow individuals to resolve disputes based on Jewish law, while the Roman Catholic Church also operates tribunals that consider spiritual issues and marriage annulments."
Moment police officer defends Christian preacher's freedom of speech after Whitechapel group say 'This is a Muslim area' - "This is the moment a police officer defends a Christian preacher in Whitechapel and is told: 'This is a Muslim area.' The confrontation sees a female Met Police officer being surrounded by males and telling them: 'In this country, we have freedom of speech.' She continued: 'I understand that you guys don't want to hear it, so I would just recommend that you walk away and don't listen to him. He's not in your home.' In a noisy and chaotic scene, a man wearing a black surgical mask appears to tell the officer in reply: 'This is Whitechapel, this is a Muslim area.'... A male clutching a microphone and Bible can be heard preaching the Gospel in the viral footage, which is believed to have happened on Monday, a day before Ramadan began. It took place just yards from the East London Mosque, one of the largest in Western Europe, which can accommodate up to 7,000 worshippers for daily prayers. In one clip, a bearded male shouts at the preacher 'talk about Jesus, don't talk about Muhammad. Don't say Muhammad.' A male wearing a knee-length black puffer coat and mask then shoves the preacher in the back, which causes him to stumble forward. Another man is later repeatedly heard shouting at the preacher: 'Your God is a Jew.'... According to the most recent Census, 52.2 per cent of the 18,841 people who live in Whitechapel are Muslim... Another male approaches the officer and complains that 'he is in our community, and you don't see Muslims walking around and insulting other faiths'. The police constable responds: 'You guys can preach about your religion the same way he is.' She denies that he is inciting hatred but admits he is at risk of being assaulted. But she reassures the group that cameras are monitoring the area in what she describes as a 'heavily Muslim community'."

Finally, a police officer has stood up to Islamic sectarian bigots - "these men were not interested in ‘conversations’. They wanted the preacher to be punished – presumably for blasphemy, for daring to declare a belief in a faith other than Islam. One of the Muslim men said he called the police because he heard a man say ‘an offensive word about the religion’... Another chimes in to say the Christian preacher was ‘offending our prophet’... It was a relief to see a police officer actually upholding freedom of speech for once – particularly when faced with an intimidating mob. Nevertheless, it says something about how far free speech has been undermined in Britain that this is even worth commenting on. Indeed, the mob themselves appeared stunned by the fact that a police officer refused their orders to lock someone up on the basis that he had offended their religion. And no wonder. Islamic sectarians have been remarkably successful in using the police for their own ends. Whether the police feel intimidated or simply believe it is their role to respond to the demands of certain ‘community leaders’, they have been more than willing to keep certain areas ‘Muslim’ at the behest of sectarian bigots. Just last month, the Met banned a ‘Walk with Jesus’ march, planned by UKIP, from going through Whitechapel on the grounds that it would be ‘provocative’ to local Muslims. Last year, West Midlands Police banned Jewish Israeli supporters from travelling to Birmingham to watch Maccabi Tel Aviv play Aston Villa, after learning that some local Muslims were arming themselves in preparation for the visit. Worse still, the police fabricated evidence to suggest the Jews were the group most likely to stir up trouble. They colluded in a lie to placate Islamic sectarians and to cover their violent intentions. Appeasement of Islamic intolerance is now rampant in every arm of the state. Last year, a magistrate’s court convicted Hamit Coskun for burning a copy of the Koran during a protest outside the Turkish embassy in London. The fact he was attacked with a knife by a Muslim passer-by was held up as proof of just how inflammatory his blasphemous act was. Mercifully, he successfully appealed his conviction in the High Court on free-speech grounds. Yet shockingly, the Crown Prosecution Service is now appealing the acquittal, such is its determination to criminalise critics of Islam. The Labour government, meanwhile, remains committed to drawing up an official definition of ‘anti-Muslim hostility’, which will effectively institutionalise an Islamic blasphemy code within the public sector. The viral video of the confrontation in Whitechapel has exposed the lie of British multiculturalism. In many areas of our major cities, we do not see people of different races and faiths getting along, living in harmony, showing tolerance and understanding. We see blatant religious sectarianism, which the authorities are usually only too happy to acquiesce to."
