Links - 18th June 2025 (1 - General Wokeness [including Jonathan Joss shooting])

Tributes pour in for Parks and Recreation actor Jonathan Joss, who has been shot dead in Texas - "Parks and Recreation and King Of The Hill actor Jonathan Joss has been shot and killed in Texas near his home in what his husband has claimed was a “homophobic” incident"
Jonathan Joss' Death Investigation Determines 'No Evidence' of a Hate Crime: Police - "When the Parks and Recreation alum was shot and killed at just 59 years old during a dispute with his neighbor on Sunday, June 1, his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, claimed the act of violence was a hate crime. Now, the San Antonio Police Department is telling PEOPLE that they have not established a connection between the incident and Joss’ sexuality. “Our investigation has found no evidence whatsoever to indicate that the Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation,” a public information officer for the SAPD said on Tuesday, June 3. “We take such allegations very seriously and have thoroughly reviewed all available information. Should any new evidence come to light, we will charge the suspect accordingly.”... Suspect Sigfredo Alvarez Cejam, 56, was detained after fleeing the scene in a vehicle and was booked for murder. The investigation is still ongoing, per police, but PEOPLE can confirm that the suspect was a neighbor of Joss. Gonzales, who was allegedly present at the time of the incident, shared a post on Joss’ Facebook page on June 2 to reveal his side of the story. “My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home,” the statement began. “That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done.”... “He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other,” Gonzales wrote"
This didn't stop all the left wingers rushing to make political hay (claiming this is why Pride Month is needed - of course a disabled white person being beaten on livestream with racist comments shows that white privilege and white supremacy is real, and if you want White Pride in response to that that's literal hate speech), even when faced with the police department statement - they started bashing them for being "Texas", or accusing the police of being homophobic (TMZ's Facebook post alone had so many deluded comments, while on the police department Facebook page, many people claimed the primary witness [the husband] had to be trusted 100% - guess they've all forgotten about Jussie Smollett). Clearly the husband who lied about the house burning down could not be lying about the motivation for the shooting, and though the police department has a LGBTQ+ Liaison, they are homophobic

Jonathan Joss' San Antonio neighbors recall his 'erratic' moods - "Caballero said she didn’t think much of Joss’s yelling, as he was known to shout frequently in the neighborhood. "He would just walk up and down the street...he would just like scream," she said. "He was just very loud, very loud. But we knew how he was, so we wouldn't disturb him. Even if he looked at us, talked mess to us, we just ignored him because we knew that's how he was." Another neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, also shared a similar sentiment, saying he "wasn't a good neighbor." She said Joss would "always do erratic things in the street" and claimed "he was God." She said neighbors called the police regarding his behavior; however, nothing occurred. According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers have responded to Joss' address on Dorsey Drive over 40 times since January 2024, with calls connected to mental health disturbances, disturbance with neighbors, general disturbances, welfare checks and the fire reported in January. Police did not respond to any calls from February 2 to June 1. Neighbors had said he wasn't seen as much on the property after the fire. "I'm so sad it had to come to this," she said. "We all knew it was going to end up like this because of his antics. It's sad cause this could have been prevented if he had gotten the help he needed."... The neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, said Ceja and Joss had been arguing before the shooting. She believes the fatal shooting stemmed from the neighbor being "fed up" with Joss' antics."

'King of the Hill' Actor Had Long Feud With Neighbor Accused of Fatal Shooting - "Neighbors on the San Antonio block where the shooting occurred tell TMZ ... Joss' home burned down in February, but he returned Sunday to collect a victim's fire fund check. While there, he found the skeleton of one of his dogs killed in the fire, and it sent him into a rage -- he started yelling at anyone he saw in the area. We're told that led to a spat with Ceja, who lives two doors down ... and shortly thereafter, the suspect allegedly drove over and shot Jonathan before fleeing... We hear the two men have a history ... and allegedly have been in both verbal and physical fights in the past. Neighbors say Joss' rants were actually a fairly common occurrence, and police had been called on him several times prior to his house burning down. Neighbors also told TMZ the actor would do kooky stuff ... like bang pans on his roof in the middle of the night. We're told Joss' home burned down after he used a BBQ pit to heat it ... which he said he had to do because the city allegedly shut off his power when the home was deemed unsafe and uninhabitable."

'King of the Hill' actor Jonathan Joss' San Antonio home destroyed - "Joss said he and his partner had lit a barbecue grill inside the house for warmth and to "make some Abuelita" Mexican hot chocolate earlier Thursday, but were sure they extinguished it before leaving at noon to get lunch and pick up supplies to clean the home."
Texas 'King of the Hill' actor loses home after fire, fans rally - "Jonathan Joss, a McCollum High School grad, lost his home and three dogs after lighting a grill for warmth, extinguishing the fire and leaving the home to pick up supplies, per a report from the San Antonio Express-News. "I told them it was my fault," Joss said. "Very easily it could have started because of my stupidity.""
From January. Weird how his husband now claims that "that home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire"
An interesting cope I got in response to an article about this was that it was from Hearst Corporation (and so apparently should be ignored)

‘I knew something was going to happen’: Woman captures video of an agitated Jonathan Joss just before his murder - "Call it a hunch, but Daniela Ruano said she felt compelled to pick up her cellphone and start recording the actions of her former next-door neighbor, actor Jonathan Joss, Sunday evening.  She recorded a video of the 59-year-old, seemingly in an agitated state, about a half hour before he was shot and killed.  “I walked outside and he’s walking up and down with a pitchfork,” Ruano said. “I knew something was going to happen. I wanted to call the police, but he hadn’t done anything.”... At times, he can be heard cussing and yelling loudly, seemingly to anyone within earshot.  “You’re looking at me for what? I’m walking down the street. I’m rehearsing. I make movies, man,” Joss shouts. Although Joss said he was acting, Ruano said her fear of him was real.  She said for decades, her family and others living in the 200 block of Dorsey Street have had tense encounters with him.  “He was always yelling, like, at the top of his lungs,” Ruano said. “He would say that all the children on this street were going to die, and that we were all going to go to hell because we’re sinners and God is on his side.”... “I think this whole thing happened ‘cause (Ceja Alvarez) was just pushed to his limit,” Ruano said."
Proof that he was a victim of homophobia - he was agitated because of the homophobic abuse and the pitchfork was for self-defense

Records detail neighborhood disputes before Jonathan Joss’ killing - "One of the pair's neighbors, who asked not to be named because of fear of retaliation, said Joss was difficult to live by.  "He's been a nightmare," the neighbor said.  Kern de Gonzales acknowledged that his husband had a tendency to be "loud."  "Me and Jonathan would be out there late at night playing the drums, singing, being a nuisance," he said. "If you're going to make it hard for us to live here, you ain't going to get no sleep."  The couple's relationship with Ceja was particularly contentious.  A police spokesperson confirmed that the police department's "SAFFE" unit, which works to prevent crimes, had been mediating a dispute between Ceja and Joss for over a year.  In June 2024, Ceja told police that Joss approached his house with a crossbow and hurled racial slurs at him, according to a separate police report. Joss confirmed to police that he walked over to Ceja's house to "talk about their dogs fighting with each other," according to the report. The report adds that Joss "got very defensive and stated that he does not bother" Ceja "at all."  Authorities searched Joss' home and retrieved a crossbow from his living room, police records say.  In January, Joss accused Ceja of burning their house down, according to police records.  Joss told police that on the morning of the fire, he was using a barbecue in his living room because he did not have heat or electricity, according to the report. However, he said, he turned the barbecue off before he left the house to get lunch. He told police that an unnamed person saw Ceja on his property the day before and suggested Ceja was responsible, according to the report."
Is it worse to be homophobic or racist? Too bad Joss's husband has seized control of the narrative already
Of course, on Jamie Lee Curtis one person was claiming Joss's mental issues were because of "hate"

Jonathan Joss Was Deeply Troubled, His Demons Were His Undoing, Ex-GF Says - "Brandy Trejo, who dated Joss for 13 years during the height of his career, tells us … Joss was the most "self-destructive person" she ever met … and to her, it seemed like he couldn't stand it when something good happened to him. What's more ... Brandy says she witnessed him drive his neighbors crazy for years with his outbursts and outlandish behavior ... so when she learned a neighbor allegedly killed him in an argument -- she was not shocked... Joss was a loose cannon who liked to make trouble -- obviously not an excuse for killing him! -- and she believes he had undiagnosed mental health issues that he only made worse with drugs and booze.  She wasn't just his girlfriend from 2006 to 2019 ... Brandy tells TMZ she became the actor's unofficial assistant and handler during that period of his career ... and it was up to her to cool him off when he went into a random rage on a set. Joss was best known for playing John Redcorn on the animated TV sitcom "King of the Hill" ... but he had nearly 50 TV and film credits to his name, including in huge film productions like "True Grit" and "Magnificent Seven." And Brandy tells us ... they were kicked off a number of those sets -- 'cause Joss would start trouble with a star or a director."
One cope I saw was that TMZ was gossip and could be dismissed

Meme - Sammi Vielma: "I lived across this man for years. He started gun fights constantly and he burnt his own house down trying to make a meth lab inside. He constantly threatened his surroundings neighbors and played victim when cops came. Many neighbors have video proof of his torment. He used to throw bricks through my window and tore several of our mailboxes down. He was armed when he was shot and killed. And no one on that block ever yelled homophobic slurs at him. Its all a lie from his "husband" for sympathy"

South Africa Excited To Achieve 100% Diversity Once It Gets Rid Of All The White People | Babylon Bee - "The groundbreaking initiative, dubbed by insiders as "Operation Murder Whites," sparked widespread excitement among its advocates... Global diversity advocates praised the initiative, with one expert noting, "South Africa is redefining inclusivity by excluding. It's a remarkable breakthrough."  At publishing time, the remaining non-white South African residents were said to be excited to find out what effect the expulsion of all of the country's white farmers may have on the national economy and food supply."

That's the level they want to play on, so just beat them on that level."

Douglas Murray: Liberals turn killers, racists, and haters into martyrs - "Why do parts of the left and the media keep asking for sympathy in all the wrong places?  In recent months, we have had to put up with crazed activists like Taylor Lorenz claiming that Luigi Mangione is a “revolutionary” and a “morally good man” because she finds him “handsome.”  Unfortunately, he is also on trial for gunning down a father of two in cold blood on Sixth Avenue.  In the eyes of many people, that still counts against a man.  And then there has been the bizarre defense of absolutely anybody whom ICE has tried to deport.  It doesn’t matter whether the people being deported are gang members, violent criminals or serial abusers: If ICE wants them out, then the illegals must be defended. In quick succession, we went from protesters and Democratic lawmakers objecting to ICE taking illegal aliens from their homes, to protesting when they are taken to a courtroom.

Liza Rosen on X - "Day after day, in Nigeria, Christians are being slaughtered by Muslims, churches are burned to the ground, Christian women and girls over the age of 6 are kidnapped and held as sex slaves — yet no one seems to care.  Where is the outrage? Where is the UN? Where is the so-called “human rights” community?  The brutal Islamic persecution of Christians across Asia and Africa has reached genocidal levels — and still, the silence is deafening.  Due to concerns over “Islamophobia in the west, the media won’t report it and the human rights organizations won’t speak against it. And worst of all, most Christians in the West have no idea it’s even happening. But the real question is: would they care if they did?  This is not just a tragedy. It’s a betrayal. A betrayal of human dignity, of faith, of truth.  Please keep the persecuted Christians of Asia and Africa in your prayers. 🙏 Their blood cries out — but no one seems to care — so please speak up if you do and be the voice of the voiceless Christians who face a genocide."

Chagos Islands: The 'totally unforgivable' real reason behind Keir Starmer's Diego Garcia 'sell-out' - "The deal, dubbed by furious critics a "surrender", will soon see Mauritius fulfil its decades-long goal to take hold of the islands, which Britain carved away from its former Crown Colony of Mauritius back in the 1960s to secure a military stronghold in the Indian Ocean.  Since then, a series of supranational bodies have piled pressure on the UK to give up its own land, culminating in a 2019 "advisory opinion" dished out by the International Court of Justice.  And now, Labour has agreed to let the Chagos Islands go. "Surely, our most humiliating day as a nation since Suez," ex-Tory Minister Simon Clarke fumed... If their British administration were to be cast into international legal doubt, the International Telecommunications Union could, in theory, step in and cut off the UK and US's comms... On the third page of the UK-Mauritian agreement sits a series of pledges accompanying the deal. "Mutual respect", "trust", "peace and security" all lead the introduction to the accord.  It also hails "the unique circumstances and history of the Chagos Archipelago" and the security of the Diego Garcia base.  Braverman, however, highlighted another point of note: "The need to complete the process of decolonisation of Mauritius" - and a pledge to "recognise the wrongs of the past".  "Billions of pounds of your money given away to virtue signal on the world stage," she said after pointing out the text.  "This deal was never about national security, but about decolonisation and rewriting history. "The Prime Minister is ashamed of this country and hates our past.  "Diego Garcia and the Chagossians were his price. Totally unforgivable."  Her words follow the warning of ex-Security Minister Tom Tugendhat earlier this year.  In his former role, he "saw the advice on the Chagos Islands deal", he said. "This [telecommunications] 'explanation' is nonsense".  And his words follow the remarks of now-Mauritian PM Navin Ramgoolam, who after Labour's election victory last summer heaped praise on Sir Keir Starmer.  "This landslide victory reflects the trust and confidence the British people have placed in your leadership and vision for the future," Ramgoolam beamed.  "Your commitment to social justice, economic fairness, and international co-operation resonates deeply with us.  "We believe your tenure will usher in a new era of progressive change and strengthen the relations between our two nations." The two now-Prime Ministers had met while Starmer was still Director of Public Prosecutions in 2013.  The future Labour chief had been hosted at a five-star hotel near the island nation's capital Port Louis shortly before entering politics... Though "social justice" and "decolonisation" may be the words headlining the ties between Britain and Mauritius, just last week, the Chinese ambassador to the country had committed to "deepening full-fledged exchanges and co-operation" between the pair.  As Braverman told GB News: "China is one of the greatest threats we face.  "Before we know it, our Diego Garcia base will be compromised and overrun with Chinese spy equipment." Labour is "incessant on kowtowing to communist China", she added."

Jamie Sarkonak: Judge accuses cop of 'unconscious' anti-Black racism with 'no direct evidence' - "Justice Renu Mandhane is one of Ontario’s foremost judicial activists, so it should surprise no one that she’ll stoop to using racism as a basis to let Black men off the hook for possessing illegal guns. That’s what happened at the end of March in the case of Robert Cameron , who had been pulled over and detained for having outstanding drug charges and a suspended license, and whose car, in the process, was discovered to be illegally housing an unlicensed firearm. The episode began when Brampton police officer Anand Gandhi’s licence plate scanner flagged a nearby Jeep for a week-long impound due to the owner’s active infractions. Given the pending charges, the officer called for backup just in case. He then approached Cameron’s Jeep, identified him, handcuffed him, patted him down, and sat him in the back of the police car. “Officer Gandhi specifically denied treating the accused differently or handcuffing him behind his back because of the way he looked, i.e. because he was a Black man,” wrote the judge. “The officer maintained that it was his ‘common practice’ to handcuff and place suspended drivers in the back of his cruiser because it was a ‘safe place’ to speak with them.” The judge noted that the officer had pulled over a woman earlier that day for driving on a medical suspension, but didn’t cuff her or keep her in the police car. Her car, however, was not being impounded, and she wasn’t said to have outstanding criminal charges... Cameron’s lawyer argued that his client was unlawfully detained from the outset and that his car was subject to an unreasonable warrantless search, violating his respective Section 9 and 8 Charter rights. There is indeed precedent from the Supreme Court of Canada stating that it’s wrong to detain a motorist in a police car without necessity (in that case, the driver didn’t have outstanding drug charges) — but it’s not enough to get evidence tossed if the officer operates in good faith. The Supreme Court of Canada and the Ontario Court of Appeal have also permitted warrantless inventory searches of cars in the past, but those precedents were not applied here. Ultimately, the judge emphatically agreed with defence, ruling that Cameron’s rights had been so severely violated that the evidence for his illegal possession of a (possibly loaded) gun was to be thrown out, rendering a firearms conviction impossible. Why? Racism. Though Mandhane found “no direct evidence of racial profiling,” she nevertheless determined that Cameron’s treatment was “motivated in part by the fact that he is a Black man” — either the product of a lie or unconscious bias on the arresting officer’s part... Cameron’s detention was largely a problem, Mandhane wrote, because he was handcuffed within two minutes of meeting the officer, and before the officer confirmed any suspensions in the police database. “The only available inference is that Officer Gandhi subjected the accused to an arbitrary detention in part because he was Black,” figured the judge. While he accepted that the officer didn’t believe he was treating Cameron differently due to race, she found that “he was influenced by his unconscious racial biases when deciding how to treat the accused.” The search, too, was tainted. Mandhane noted a few brief points throughout the arrest where the arresting officer turned off his microphone to speak to the other officers (at the time, policy was unclear as to whether that was correct protocol, though it’s since been clarified in Ontario that mics must stay on). Here, she guessed that the officer muted his microphone to express that he “suspected that the accused might have drugs in the Jeep.” This, Mandhane continued, was evidence that the search of the car was “tainted by racial bias” because the officer “formed the intention to search the Jeep for evidence of criminal activity immediately after learning that the driver was a Black man. This is the only logical explanation.” After filling in all unknown variables with the explanation of racism, the judge determined that the officer “assumed that the accused was more dangerous than other suspended drivers because he was Black,” that his “unconscious bias led him to exercise his discretion in favour of arresting and detaining the accused … for 90 minutes,” and that he “relied on stereotypes about Black people being more prone to criminality to illegally search his Jeep.” It’s one thing to drop evidence because of obscenely racist police conduct — but here, so much of the judge’s reasoning simply came down to Cameron’s identity and conducting the equivalent of a palm-read to diagnose the arresting officer with untreated racism. Really, it’s Mandhane whose beliefs should be in question, as she has stated plainly for the record that race is one of her major considerations in deciding whether an individual’s rights were violated, and whether to throw out any evidence that could incriminate them. This was likely the expectation when Justin Trudeau appointed Mandhane to her post in 2020. In the past, she invented a whole new category of lawsuit — the tort of family violence — to make a political show of her court’s disdain for family violence. Because there already exist a number of different types of lawsuits that encompass spousal and child abuse, her move was completely unnecessary (and indeed inappropriate, given her position as an unelected judge). Prior to that, as the Ontario Human Rights commissioner, she wrote that Ontario’s public service was systematically racist because its demographics don’t perfectly reflect those of the Ontario population. In that office, one of her focus causes was the elimination of racial profiling in Ontario, which she considered a proven phenomenon due to police statistics showing that Black and Indigenous youth were being disproportionately stopped by police (while not engaging with the fact that some groups commit more crimes, and are more likely to populate the ranks of Toronto’s most wanted). So, faced with a Black man’s active drug charges and illegal perhaps-loaded gun, this judge took issue not with the objective threat of a dangerous unauthorized weapon, but the racism she imagined into the entire scenario as part of her greater quest to cement racial thinking into the Canadian justice system. “The short-term gains that flow from racial profiling in terms of police investigations and evidence-gathering cannot overshadow the intergenerational trauma that anti-Black racism in policing causes and the social ills it perpetuates,” concluded Mandhane. If that’s the cost of safety in Brampton, she seems to say, then so be it."
Time to ban legal firearms to keep people safe!
Addendum: The officer Anand Gandhi was South Asian too. Anti-blackness is endemic, even among other minority communities. They need to do better!
