Meme - ultra strawberry dreams @kitschmusik: "the purpose of sex segregation in athletics (or anywhere else) is not because of biological differences but to compensate for the oppression of women; trans ppl are also part of this oppressed class. the other three points are downstream from this"
TracingWoodgrains @tracewoodgrains: "it's unambiguously due to biological differences in athletics. there is zero question of this and the only reason to dispute it is a hope to work backwards from ideology"
jolene @cervixpiercer: "This is a matter of history. There is not one singular history of sex segregation in sports. There are cases of it functioning "as a weight class" but that is not the plurality. Why do you assume you know these things when you don't?"
ultra strawberry dreams @kitschmusik: "historically most cases where a women's sport division was formed was because women tried competing in men's divisions first and men got upset that women were "invading a male space" and "taking sports away from men" and etc. see also the recent nancy mace DEI backlash"
Feminists actually believe this. So much for trusting the science. Instead they make up stuff, as usual

Opinion | Abolish the gender divide in athletics - "in their punchy new book “Open Play,” the academics Sheree Bekker and Stephen Mumford argue that women’s sports are something else entirely: a cage.  They get the appeal. They’re fans themselves.  But to put women and girls in their own category, the authors insist, is to limit their possibilities. From a very young age the expectations are lower, the facilities are inferior, the rewards are fewer. And it all carries up to the professional ranks. Last year, the mean salary for WNBA players was $120,000, a mere fraction of what the men earned in the NBA. Bekker, a health professor at the University of Bath, and Mumford, a philosophy professor at Durham University, both in England, offer up a radical remedy for this inequality: Abolish the gender divide at all levels of sports... They maintain, for instance, that the most important explanation for the gap between male and female athletic performance is the difference in opportunity and expectation — not any natural advantage that men might have over women.  In fact, they suggest men have no natural advantage in size and strength at all...
Sheree Bekker: So we often hear this folk myth that testosterone is the “molecule of performance” or the “male molecule,” when actually everybody has testosterone.  But our key argument is that there isn’t just one thing that determines performance. There really is so much more going on, mostly socially and culturally — how little boys and little girls are treated, and how we’re treated throughout our lifetimes — that plays into performance.  That can have much more of an impact than testosterone itself can have.
Stephen Mumford: Let’s think how implausible it is that testosterone explains superior performance: Look at the Olympic medals tables, look at how they’re dominated by the United States and China — by wealthy countries.  It’s not as if testosterone levels for men in the United States are double what they are, or 100 times what they are, in some other country. The chief indicators of athletic performance are going to be investment in the infrastructure — the training facilities and so on.  Then you can think about gender — how there’s far more investment in men’s sports than women’s sports.
You write about women who nudged their way into male-dominated athletic competitions in the past: one who finished second in a figure skating championship in 1902 and another who struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in a baseball exhibition. You suggest that men felt threatened by women’s athletic prowess and pushed them aside by creating a separate category of “women’s sports.” But historians have been critical of your argument, arguing that women were really the driving force behind the creation of women’s sports...
Mumford: We wouldn’t be opposed to, say, a support group for women, because voluntary exit is allowed: If you decide you want to leave and go talk to some men, you’re free to do so.  This is why we think women’s sport is specifically a case of segregation — because no matter how good you are, you’re not allowed to go out and play against somebody else."
So much for dismissing the belief that men and women are equally physically strong as one only random cranks hold. Next up: socialisation causes puberty!
Good luck if you have a support group for men. Also it's weird they don't know that at least most men's divisions allow anyone in (which is why claiming that conservatives want to ban trans people from sports is nonsensical)

Meme - Kristi Miller @kirstimiller30.bsky.social: "I just want to point out that a big reason we have gender segregated sports is because men's egos couldn't handle finishing second to a woman.
"DREAM COMES TRUE FOR NIKKI PHILLIPS"
The insistence on separating sports teams strictly by sex is backwards. Part of the reason why we have this belief that boys are inherently stronger than girls, and even the fact that we believe that gender is a binary, is because of sport itself, not the other way around ."

Meme - Christine Derby @christinederb.bsky.social: "A *thread* so well articulated. An anti-trans stance in athletics is, at its core, a misogynist one. Segregating sports by gender has always been about upholding the myth that men are inherently better, stronger, faster. It's propaganda, not biology. Those who would point to stats on men and women in sport to support perceived differences in ability, negate social and historical truths that are more logically and scientifically the cause of these distinctions as opposed to inherent biological factors. If our culture told women from the time they were babies that they needed to be strong and have muscles and were given bats and balls instead of dresses and dolls, you BET women would not be so discernible from men in athletics."
Socialisation is why men are physically stronger!

Meme - nicole ruiz @nwilliams030: "Respectfully, what am I supposed to do when the literal only path for me to get me + an infant/toddler from below ground on the subway to above ground is an elevator that a crazy person is clearly posted up in and not leaving?"
lan MacAllen @lanMacAllen: "I think you probably do the same thing that happens when you get to station and realize the elevator is out of service. You pull yourself up by the bootstraps and figure it out. NYC is not for the weak. If it's too goddamn hard NJ's suburbs are right there."
nicole ruiz: "So being a mother with a toddler is "the weak" to you? Do you think parents should simply move out of the city?"
lan MacAllen @IanMacAllen: "As a father with a toddler at a subway station without any elevators, I think it's weak that you whine about being stranded because an elevator is out of order."
Of course, it's a good bet that at other times, Ian wants to force everyone to live in a city, because it's supposedly more efficient and environmentally friendly

Thread by @eigenrobot on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "this is among the more novelly-misogynistic things i have encountered.  i'm not sure i understand it, but it might be explained as a failure mode of third wave feminism's insistence on gender flattening. allow me to explain
in this interaction:
* nicole expresses frustration with a physical danger she's exposed to as a mother with children in tow
* @IanMacAllen responds with aggressive hostility, telling her to harden the fuck up
what an odd thing to say! why is it odd?
fairly generally, men do not admonish women for "weakness." it simply isn't done, even if it might be warranted.  "don't be a little bitch" is the sort of thing that you might earnestly say to _another man_ to exhort him to meet some masculine obligation: it is male homosocial @IanMacAllen aggravating this breach of protocol is expressing the sentiment in a circumstance where a woman's physical fear is completely justified and where her children are at risk, raising it from "bizarre" to the level of "utterly deranged"
now I am going to speculate about ian's person. this is unfortunately rude, but he's been rude; and the speculation is relevant
our subject
* identifies as a "shitlib"
* frankly doesn't vibe confidently masculine
* "food and culture. graphic designer. storyteller" this is a Type
my hypothesis follows.
1. ian never became comfortable with normal adult masculine norms for behavior, and has had little occasion to. his career as a "writer, critic, and graphic designer" in NYC puts him in circles that are uniformly heterosocial-leaning-female-dominant
2. ian determined that nicole was outgroup coded on the basis of her complaining about insane homeless people, a "shitlib" sacred class. this was an act of blasphemy, justifying and even demanding aggression
3. misogynistic political animosity is common but you usually see it expressed in more direct terms like "i hope you get raped". "you're too weak to fight a homeless man while protecting your children" is what needs explaining
4. "women can do anything men can do and are exactly the same" is a kind of central dogma of the third wave feminism that was popular when ian was coming of age. you're not supposed to _actually_ believe that literally ofc. but one could imagine certain kinds of ppl missing that
so basically, ian gets mad online at a nice lady. he doesn't understand you, a grown man, are not supposed to get into who's-physically-tougher status competitions with women and that doing so is a sign of mental illness actually
"besides, women can do anything men can do. and *I* wouldnt have trouble beating up an insane dude in an elevator while protecting my kid.  pussy. lmao""

Left-wing French council fits primary children with GPS devices to prove boys 'dominate' playgrounds and pledges to destroy football pitches to end the 'gender discrimination' - "A left-wing French council has fitted primary school children with GPS devices to prove that boys 'dominate' playgrounds - and is now pledging to destroy football pitches.  Critics have slammed the 'social engineering' project of monitoring schoolchildren at break times to prove that boys dominate the areas at the expense of girls.  The scheme is meant to help officials make playgrounds more inclusive and make young boys more tolerant and respectful... Christelle Wieder, who is in charge of sex equality at the council and the Deputy Mayor of Strasbourg, told The Times that the devices show 80 per cent of space at break time is used by mostly boys... It wants to rip out the football spaces used by the boys and replace them with greenery, cabins and other games.  There will also be 'calm zones, active zones and exploration zones'.  But critics have slammed the use of taxpayers money to equip GPS trackers at a cost of several hundred thousand euros to discover what was 'obvious'.  They said schemes like this which make boys feel 'permanently guilty' like 'little monsters displaying toxic masculinity' aren't helpful."
'Inclusivity' means screwing males, but ignoring anything that privileges females

Que Sera, Sera. 📍🦍 on X - "Schrödinger's feminism: a woman is simultaneously a victim and empowered, until something happens. Then she can choose which state benefits her the most."

Russian monsters have exposed the hypocrisy of the trite, woke West - "In the past 10 or so years, Western feminism has often felt like little more than a perverse joke. Having made a mockery of its liberal form – poor Sheryl Sandberg’s very sensible advice to women to “lean in” for power and confidence is just a punchline now – it has lighted instead upon a trans-focused politics.  The result is that weirdly, instead of championing women in the myriad forms of adversity they still face here and around the world, Western feminism has become primarily a champion of biological men who insist they are women.  So what happened when news of the treatment of the Ukrainian POWs emerged?  Rage, protests, outcry? Alas not. No sign whatsoever of a renewed focus on the actual dangers facing actual women. Indeed, feminist TikTok has been alight with the sad tale of a female anglerfish that is now trending as a “feminist icon” – due to the fact that its perilous journey to the surface, during which it died, could be seen as akin to a life full of female suffering.  Elsewhere, the feminist internet was buzzing with the news of a new book by Sophie Lewis called Enemy Feminisms: TERFs, Policewomen, and Girlbosses Against Liberation in which Lewis argues that feminists – from Mary Wollstonecraft to the suffragists – were nothing but handmaidens of other forms of oppression. Western feminism is racist, colonialist, transphobic, anti-sex work and “even, weird as it may sound, misogynistic and patriarchal”. How helpful.  The truth, of course, is that it is only in the West where women enjoy enormous freedoms compared to those in every other corner of the earth.  And it is only – or rather, mainly in the West – where feminism has become, at least at the level of discourse, such a waste of time; a set of luxury beliefs... as we saw after the footage of unspeakable sexual abuse (as well as torture, abduction and murder) of Israeli women on October 7 was released, UN Women had little to say.  Meanwhile, Western feminists in the progressive wave were more likely, following the generally sick assertions by the far Left, to find a way to blame Israel, or deny the facts. The overall resounding silence was sobering; partly a clarification that in their view, when it’s Jewish women who are raped and tortured, it’s fine, and partly a clarification that feminism – under that name – has utterly lost its way.  Gone are the days when feminists like Catharine MacKinnon ruled the roost, a formidable lawyer who was instrumental in getting rape recognised as a war crime in international law in the 1990s.  Now we are stuck with the products of too much post-colonial and post-structuralist theory, refracted through the inanity and disinformation of Tik Tok.  The women abused by Russia, and the hundreds of millions of others around the world subjected to horrors by their overlords, will have to find new champions."
Feminists hate the West more than they love women

'We are not a cabaret': Japan zoo bans solo male visitors after female guests, owner get repeatedly harassed - "A petting zoo in Japan has banned men from entering alone after repeated cases of harassment towards its female owner and guests.  Situated in Tochigi Prefecture in Japan, the zoo opened in March with small animals like dogs, rabbits, otters, and micro-pigs, that visitors can feed and interact with... The owner, Misa Mama, said that solo male patrons had repeatedly approached and attempted to strike up conversations with her and female visitors.  They'd even made flirtatious or inappropriate remarks, which made her feel uncomfortable"

Love it when a game gets political right after the two-hour mark : r/KotakuInAction - "Nothing says "strong independent woman" like blaming men for all your problems."

HOTD is overcompensating for GoT being rapey : r/HouseOfTheDragon - "People criticised the gratuitous violence towards women in the Game of Thrones series. Which checks out since the writers added in rape scenes that weren't in the books and explicitly tortured a bunch of main characters on screen. Some of the early episodes give me 70s fantasy porn vibes, while the books feel much more feminist. I think HOTD writers have gone balls to the walls with feminist themes to dispel rumours that the franchise is all about gratuitous violence. Nothing against feminist themes, but the writing is just so bad its actually offensive to me as a woman. It's this mindless, vapid modern pseudofeminism that we're seeing in Hollywood. It's not actually feminism.  Firstly, replacing rape scenes with endless graphic traumatic birth scenes feels equally violent, but maybe that's just me. Now, all the female characters have been reduced to helpless lesbians who just want to protect their kids and not complex individuals capable of hate, violence and war. All the men have been reduced to abusers, morons and simps. They ruined Daemon, his character makes no sense. I don't think any of the character's motives make any sense any more. The fact we're missing GRRM's POV writing style from Fire & Blood is a massive factor but they could have hired much more capable writers or had more input from GRRM. These writers make me appreciate D&D."

Max on X - "90% of “sexism” is actually women experiencing equality for the first time in their lives. Coddling women is so deeply conditioned into all normal, socially-well-adjusted men that most women are completely oblivious they are even being coddled. Only autistic STEM dudes unaware of these social rules treat women in a truly meritocratic, non-gendered fashion. And because that is way worse than anyone has ever treated them, they perceive it as bullying and abuse."
Meme - "r/csMajors
why are computer science men so mean
Im a women studying computer science and its really true what they say. There is not a lot of women in the field, in my classes for the last two years there have always been 3-5 girls in a class of 30 to 40 students. I am a sophomore in college entering my spring semester and i've have multiple encounter with guys who just aren't very open to me. in one instance asked two guys (who i am well acquainted with) to join their group for a physics projects, they said yes but would ignore my ideas on input. During my first semester during freshmen year , i had become close friends with another male peer who met during orientation, the computer for the class we were taking together was not working so attempted to restart it, starting with shutting off the monitor before actually turned off the pc, when i turned off the monitor he tells me, "That is just the screen, not the actual computer". i've have multiple encounters like these where it just feels like they either have not genuine social cues or are just mean to me. because of the lack of women in my classes i feel rather alone, since my start univeristy i have made two friends which are women but because of different standing and majors we wont ever really have a class together. What should i do about dealing with guys like this in the field, ive always been blunt and honest about situations like these but its become difficult for me to speak up for myself because of the intimidation that i feel in these classes. So far i have failed only two classes Calc 2 and my second semester of java, which was due to medical reasons but all of the men in my classes at the time had advance making me feel as if i don't have what it take to be studying computer science."
The cope is that men need to change their behavior to fit women's standards, because that's the thing decent and kind and empathetic thing to do

Amber Rose Is Done With Feminism After Experiencing Its ‘Dark Side' - "The model and television personality, who organized several SlutWalk events in the 2010s, was a guest on the new episode of podcast Club Shay Shay, which was posted to YouTube on Thursday (March 6). While it was active, SlutWalk brought out other famous names like Blac Chyna and Rose's ex-boyfriend, 21 Savage... When asked if women tried to get pregnant to financially exploit men, Rose confirmed that she's personally seen it happen. "I've had girlfriends lie about abortions to get money, to act like they're pregnant. Yes, it's disgusting," Rose told Sharpe.  "This is why I stopped my SlutWalk, by the way. This is why I'm no longer a feminist because I saw the dark side of what women can do," she continued. "I'm sitting here feeling slighted by men, and then I'm fighting for equality, and I'm like, 'The only equality is that you bitches ain't shit, either.'" Rose then accused some feminists of "extorting men" and "lying about pregnancies" and lying about their use of birth control to "trap" men.  "Not to sound vulgar, but if a man c*ms inside of you and you say that you're on birth control, he trusts you," Rose added. "It's fucked up that you would trap him like that. You don't do that to people.""

New Aussie bar leaves drinkers divided with its VERY woke rule about what sort of sport is shown TV - "Australia's first sports bar designed specifically for women has opened on Oxford Street in Sydney - but drinkers are divided about what can be shown on the TV.  The two-storey venue, named The Ladies League, opened in August this year with the aim of playing nothing but women's sport from open until close.  The founder of the establishment, Rose Valente, says there's a huge demand for a venue where people can watch women's sports together... 'But having a all males barber shop makes the feminists go crazy lol,' replied a third. Some said female fans should support teams by attending matches"
The Ladies' League: Australia's first-ever women's sports bar shuts doors just months after opening - "Australia's first-ever women's sports bar is shutting its doors just four months after opening. The Ladies' League (TLL) on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst, Sydney, announced its closure in a lengthy message on Instagram, blaming the cost of living crisis and low customer spending. "It is with a heavy heart that we will not be re-opening the doors at The Ladies' League""
Clearly, this is the fault of the Patriarchy, because there was a "huge demand" for it, and if women athletes were paid the same as men, this wouldn't happen

Thread by @HillelNeuer on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "No joke: Meet the new Chair of the U.N. Women's Rights Commission.
Ambassador Abdulaziz M. Alwasil of Saudi Arabia is now chairing the U.N. commission on the status of women, “the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality, the rights and the empowerment of women.” @UN_Women and their chief @SimaBahous are even cheering their pride in having this Sheikh from Saudi Arabia—a country that imprisons and tortures women's rights activists—as Chair of their U.N. Women's Rights Commission:
Under Saudi leadership of the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, which runs March 10-21, we learn importantly that the government of Canada is committing “a race-based genocide against Indigenous women.”
Apart from platforming misogynistic regimes (Islamic Republic of Iran was another recent member), the commission mainly exists for delegates to congratulate themselves on unanimously adopting meaningless declarations. Sweden plays a major role in funding UN Women
Watch: the moment when Saudi Arabia was elected to chair the United Nations women's rights body, the Commission on the Status of Women, with no objections. March 27, 2024:
UN Commission Turns Blind Eye to World’s Worst Abusers of Women’s Rights
The UN’s commission on the status of women meets every year and has a unique opportunity to hold country violators of women’s rights to account. Yet instead, it systematically ignores them.  For example:
• The CSW has never adopted a single resolution on Saudi Arabia, which, notwithstanding recent limited reforms, subjugates women through its male guardianship system and jails and tortures women’s rights activists.
• The CSW has never adopted a single resolution on Yemen, which ranks at the bottom of the gender equality index (153/153) and where child marriage is pervasive with more than two thirds of girls being married off before age 18.
• The CSW has never adopted a single resolution on the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has been dubbed the “rape capital of the world.”
• The CSW has never adopted a single resolution on Pakistan, where violence against women is on the rise and conviction rates are low—between 2011 and 2017 over 51,000 cases of domestic violence were reported.
• The CSW has never adopted a single resolution on Iran, where women suffer discrimination under the law in key areas such as marriage, family law, age of criminal responsibility, inheritance, and court testimony. The CSW gives a free pass to Iran for its misogynistic modesty laws, under which women are routinely arrested and sentenced to harsh punishments. If a Muslim woman is found in a relationship with a non-Muslim man, she may be sentenced to be whipped. Women have been sent to jail for speaking out in favor of equal rights for women.
In fact, the CSW squanders a golden opportunity to demand accountability and compliance and gives a free pass on the world’s worst abusers of human rights. Instead, it adopts resolutions on general thematic issues joined by all CSW members, including these abusers to the extent they are members.  For example, in 2018 CSW members joined in resolutions condemning torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence against women in the context of hostage-taking in armed conflicts; acknowledging the need to “accelerate the realization of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.” In 2021, CSW members reaffirmed “the commitments to gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls made at relevant United Nations summits and conferences,” among other things. "
Hillel Neuer on X - "It's surreal. Saudi Arabia enslaves women under a “male guardianship” regime that was recently enshrined into law. Let me be clear: Electing Saudi Arabia as global chair of protecting women's rights is like putting Dracula in charge of the blood bank."
