Japan trip
Day 3 - 8th June - Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo (Part 8)
Readers (as well as I) may be relieved to know that this will be the last Museum post for a while, and subsequent museum posts will not have so many photographs.
Furthermore, the next post will see me leaving Tokyo (finally!)
Chinese and Japanese calligraphy look the same, because Japanese calligraphy all uses Kanji anyway.

Boar

Camel (this was very similar to the ones in Shanghai. No pictures, sorry. Blame Mediafire for deleting my account!)

Horse

Tomb Guardians

Metal Fittings

Tray

Stone Bass Relief

Ditto

Waterfall at Lushan

Landscape
There was some Korean stuff also. It looked like the Chinese/Jap stuff:

Brick

Ditto

Bottle with faceted sides
This looks like 1D14 (minus the tube on top)

Ruler
Back to China:

Maitreya, Seated Amoghapasa

Four-armed God, Gandhavra, Man in Persian Costume

Buddha, Sakyamuni
The Buddha is very ugly. The proportions are off and it looks like a kid.

Pedestal for Buddhist Statue
It was the last day of a special exhibition: "Treasures from Yakushi-ji". Oh well. Not that much of a loss, all things considered. At 7:25pm, there was a woman running to the museum (last admission was at 7:30pm).

These Asahi Grapefruit and Lemon drinks use the same picture to represent the fruit. Hah.

Onigiri (rice in seaweed with other stuff), part of my late dinner. Assorted colourful vegetables, pickles, white ikan bilis and sesame seeds; some salty and slightly seafood thing (a bit like cockles); and tempura
3 cost me Y600. Stupid Oden woman.
They have subway cars which have weaker air-conditioning: "弱冷車"
At Aobadai I was feeling hungry still, and had a choice between Wendy's and McDonalds. I didn't see anything I wanted at Wendy's, so I availed myself of McDonald's 100Y menu (it helped that they had an English menu).
The guy at the counter obviously understood me, but replied in Jap. Gah.

Small Coke and McPork

Small is REALLY small, as you can see

My McPork. Basically a hamburger: Bun, lettuce, minced onions, pork patty and an off-teriyaki (pepper/ginger/soy a la japonaise) sauce. For 170Y more you can get sesame seeds, mayo and a nicer sauce (the Teriyaki Pork burger), but it's not worth it.
Mmm... My vow was finally fulfilled.

English Menu

Evacuation map. Very reassuring.
