Javid: Immigration failures have made Britain a tinderbox - "“Communal life in Britain is under threat like never before and intervention is urgently needed. “There have been long-term, chronic issues undermining connections within our communities for several decades now, such as the degradation of local infrastructure from the local pub to churches, the weakening of family units, growing inequality, declining trust in institutions and persistent neglect from policy-makers. “In more recent years, new threats like the mismanagement of immigration, cost of living pressures and social media driven extremism, have begun to turn this crisis of social disconnection into an acute threat of social division.” Sir Sajid went on to warn that those issues were now “converging into something dangerous”, adding: “The country is now sitting on a tinderbox of disconnection and division.”... During his tenure as secretary of state for communities, Sir Sajid said in 2016 that too many people in the UK were living “parallel lives”... Sir Sajid added issues of integration had not been dealt with fully by “successive governments” and said political correctness was partly to blame."

U.K.'s Starmer tries to tighten visa rules to end 'open borders' - "Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced tighter British immigration rules, declaring an end to what he called a "squalid chapter" and a "failed experiment in open borders."... Migrant rights advocates criticized his wording as being more typical of the far right than of his center-left Labour Party. "The damage [immigration] has done to our country is incalculable," the prime minister wrote in a policy paper... His proposals come less than two weeks after the far-right anti-immigration Reform U.K. Party, led by Nigel Farage — a confidant of President Trump — made big gains in some local and municipal elections across England. Data shows net migration to the U.K. has more than tripled in the past decade... Steve Smith, CEO of Care4Calais, a charity that works with migrants and refugees, called Starmer's language "dangerous." "Shameful language like this will only inflame the fire of the far-right and risks further race riots that endanger survivors of horrors such as war, torture and modern slavery," Smith wrote. "Starmer must apologize.""
You're not allowed to disagree with the left on anything, because anything that opposes the left wing agenda incites violence and encourages the "far right". But left wingers are allowed to be as graphic as they want. TRAs can fantasise about killing "TERFs" and this is good because it's "punching up"

UK government approval rating 2025 - "As of May 12, 2025, the net approval rating of the Labour government in the United Kingdom stood at -48 percent, one of the lowest approval ratings for the current government"

UK risks becoming ‘island of strangers’ without more immigration curbs, Starmer says - "Starmer said at a Downing Street press conference on Monday that he wanted levels of immigration to have fallen significantly by the end of this parliament, without setting a numerical target. He said: “Nations depend on rules, fair rules. Sometimes they are written down, often they are not, but either way, they give shape to our values, guide us towards our rights, of course, but also our responsibilities, the obligations we owe to each other. “In a diverse nation like ours, and I celebrate that, these rules become even more important. Without them, we risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together... Starmer said tackling migration would not harm growth. “The theory that higher migration numbers necessarily lead to higher growth has been tested in the last four years,” he said. “We’ve had the highest net migration when the last government lost control, to nearly 1 million, and stagnant growth. And so that link doesn’t hold on that evidence.” Echoing the slogan used by Brexit campaigners during the 2016 EU referendum, Starmer said: “We will deliver what you’ve asked for time and again, and we will take back control of our borders.”

Almost half of Britons feel like 'strangers in their own country' - "Half of Britons say they feel disconnected from the society around them, with more than four in ten reporting that they sometimes feel like “strangers in their own country”, according to one of the UK’s largest studies into social cohesion. A poll of over 13,000 people by More in Common, in partnership with Citizens UK and UCL Policy Lab, revealed many Britons reported feeling unease about the state of community and belonging across Britain... Almost two-thirds of those surveyed (62 per cent) said that they believe Britain is becoming more divided, while 54 per cent said they believe the country is more suspicious and less trusting than it was five years ago. Forty-one per cent of respondents described themselves as “mistrustful” of most people."

Chris Rose on X - "'We risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together.” - Keir Starmer. This was London the day after October 7th massacre by Hamas. Before Israel had even retaliated. We already are an island of strangers. These people are certainly alien to me."

Minister defends PM’s ‘island of strangers’ claim amid Labour backlash - "Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who was elected last year as an Independent, said: “The problems in our society are not caused by migrants or refugees. “They are caused by an economic system rigged in favour of corporations and billionaires. “If the Government wanted to improve people’s lives, it would tax the rich and build an economy that works for us all.”"
The response to failed left wing policies is always even more left wing policies

UK immigration shake-up: No entry without English, digital IDs for all, care visa axed - “For too long, businesses were actively encouraged to bring in lower paid workers, rather than invest in our own people. We’re fixing the system and restoring control to our borders.”

'Little Englander': Keir Starmer provokes fury over 'speak English' post - "KEIR STARMER has been branded a "Little Englander" for telling migrants "you should speak English" as part of a series of measures aimed at reducing the number of people coming to the UK... Starmer posted on Twitter/X: "If you want to live in the UK, you should speak English. That’s common sense. So we’re raising English language requirements across every main immigration route."... Plaid Cymru Westminster leader Liz Saville Roberts (below) also responded, saying :"The Welsh language holds the same legal status as the English language in Wales. Labour under Keir Starmer are forgetting about Wales and our nation’s identity once again. "Where’s the common sense in devaluing our heritage?" Neil Alexander, Scottish LibDems spokesperson for culture and sport, replied: "What about Gaelic Sir Keir? Are those speaking it in Scotland not welcome? It's almost like no lessons were learned in losing seats in the local elections to the LibDems.""
But of course, Anglophones who live in other countries and don't speak the local language are ignorant, small-minded and arrogant who refuse to integrate
Weird. I thought "common sense" was a far right, racist, xenophobic and bigoted dog whistle
If you live in Wales or Scotland and only speak Welsh or Gaelic respectively and you can't get a job, this is linguistic discrimination and you need to sue prospective employers who don't want to hire you

Viva Frei on X - "“Speak English”? That’s literally a hate crime in your tyrannical fascist hell-hole, jackass. Off to jail for you! Bigot!"

The Labour Thread - Bob's Board - Page 312 - "And we’re supposed to trust this gang of liars? Keir Starmer is trying to reinvent Labour as the party of border control, unveiling his long-trailed immigration white paper this morning, warning of Britain becoming an “island of strangers.” It might be worth dusting off the archives and seeing what Starmer’s cabinet ministers used to say about immigration:
Keir Starmer: In 2020 promised to have an “immigration system based on compassion and dignity. End indefinite detention and call for the closure of centres such as Yarl’s Wood.” Said in 2015 that Tory legislation to make it a criminal offence to rent accommodation to illegal immigrants promoted “everyday racism.” Starmer authored a review of ‘Immigration Law and Practice’ in 1988 in which he argued that all immigration law is “racist.”
Yvette Cooper: In 2015 wanted every city town and borough to take 10 refugee families. In 2015 held up a sign saying ‘refugees welcome’ and said the Government needed to do more to help refugees.
Pat McFadden: In 2018 said “immigration debates dehumanise people” and that it “makes no sense for us to be so focussed on immigration caps and quotas that the NHS cannot employ the qualified doctors we need.”
Angela Rayner: In 2021 slammed arguments for the NHS to be less reliant on migration, saying “Our NHS would collapse without the staff who were born overseas…NHS staff [don’t deserve] this cheap xenophobia.”
David Lammy: In 2018 said: “All the evidence shows both EU and non-EU migrants are hugely beneficial to the UK. Almost every politician knows this, but many are afraid to tell the truth.”
Bridget Phillipson: In 2023 attacked Tory plans to lower student migration numbers.
Liz Kendall: In 2020 slammed proposals for a point-based immigration system and salary thresholds, saying they had “terrible implications for social care” that is “already stretched to breaking point & these proposals will only increase pressure”. In 2019 she also said “Immigration brings a significant net economic benefit to UK.”
Shabana Mahmood: In 2015 slammed the Tories immigration bill over the impact on “asylum seekers at risk of destitution”. Pictured with a sign saying “Refugees welcome here” outside of Parliament.
Jonathan Reynolds: In 2017 spoke of his “fear” that “large numbers want immigration reduced without any link to economic context or labour market needs.”
Lisa Nandy: In 2020 said: “We can’t play dog whistle politics. Labour should never have committed to ending free movement alongside the Tories. We have to listen & make the case for our values- but we must understand why the anti-immigration narrative takes hold & how we can respond.”
Meanwhile, Starmer is gearing up to allow tens of thousands of EU workers into Britain by signing up to an EU-UK youth mobility scheme. So far Labour’s ‘crackdown’ on migration has seen small boat crossings increase by over 40% higher than the figure for this time last year. Still no commitment to a cap on net migration either…"

Dr Jay Watts on X - "The Daily Mail has released this thing where you put your postcode in and it says what percentage of people don't speak english in your area. That is absolutely abhorrent and a clear incitement to racial tension and worse."
Calgie on X - "We’ve gone from ‘immigration is our greatest asset’ to ‘we must cover up what is happening or there’ll be a revolution’"
Democracy dies in Darkness

Iranian criminal spared deportation so he can cut his son’s hair - "An Iranian criminal was allowed to stay in the UK after an immigration judge said that he would not be able to cut his son’s hair “remotely”. The asylum seeker, who was granted anonymity, avoided deportation after it was ruled that it would be too harsh on his three-year-old child because of his close involvement in raising him, which included cutting his hair and playing with him. A first tier tribunal ruled that it was in the best interests of the child to be brought up by both his parents who claimed it would be a breach of their family rights under article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) to separate them. This was despite being told that the Iranian had absconded immigration control for more than a decade and been jailed for a year for possessing a false identity document. The Home Office have since appealed this decision, arguing the judge failed to prove that it would be harsh on the family and that his removal was in the public interest. His case – which has taken some 20 years to resolve – will now be reheard... Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, announced plans this week to curb judges’ powers to block deportations with new legally enforced “common sense” rules to clarify how judges interpret article 8 and strengthen the public interest test. The Iranian first arrived in July 2004, when he claimed his life was at risk if he returned because he had been reported to the authorities for having sex outside marriage. His asylum bid was rejected as being “littered with inconsistencies”.

Zimbabwean paedophile allowed to stay in UK because he would face 'hostility' back home - "A convicted Zimbabwean paedophile was allowed to stay in Britain because he would face “hostility” if he was deported back to his home country. An immigration tribunal judge blocked his deportation to Zimbabwe by the Home Office because it would breach his rights under Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) which prohibits torture, inhuman treatment and degrading punishment. Sarah Pinder, the judge, accepted his lawyers’ claims that, as an openly gay man who had been jailed for more than five years for child sex offences, he was likely to face “substantial hostility” from the Zimbabwean authorities... Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, said: “The ECHR was agreed in 1950 to stop a repeat of the atrocities of Nazi Germany. Now, judges are inventing new definitions of its articles to allow dangerous criminals, in this case a paedophile, to stay in the UK. This is not what we signed up to in 1950. “The judge has once again ignored our domestic laws in favour of the supposed human rights of a despicable criminal. What if this man abuses children here again? What about the human rights of our children to be protected from him? The human rights farce that prioritises paedophiles ahead of children’s safety has to end.”... Judge Pinder previously ruled that a Jamaican drug dealer convicted of domestic abuse should be spared deportation because he has a transgender child. An immigration tribunal was told that the girl only speaks to him, and not her mother, about her gender identity issues. She also found that the career criminal’s mixed race children would have “unmet emotional needs linked not just to the loss of a parent but to the loss of the parent who represents half of their cultural identity”. It was therefore judged “unduly harsh” on them to deport him – even though they witnessed him beating their mother."

UK PM Keir Starmer now says migrants should learn English -- after arresting Brits for hate speech for saying the same thing - "It's amazing how hypocritical the U.K. Labour left can get when its polling goes into the toilet... “The current system is contributing to forces that are slowly pulling our country apart. I believe we need to reduce immigration, significantly.”"

White British children are minority at one in four schools - "White British pupils are now the minority in one in four schools in England, official data reveal. Analysis of school census data, collected from more than 21,500 primaries and secondaries in January, shows that in a quarter of them, the majority of the cohort is recorded as ethnic minority or white non-British. In 72 schools, no white British pupils are recorded, and in 454, they make up less than 2 per cent of the student body. The demographic shift is apparent in many of the country’s big cities such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bradford and Leicester. At Rockwood Academy, in Birmingham, for instance, none of the 1,084 students were recorded in the census as “white British”, while just 12 of the 2,779 pupils at Loxford School, in the London borough of Redbridge, were white British. The figures, released by the Department for Education this week, have been published as a report predicted that white British people will become a minority in the UK population within the next 40 years. The Buckingham University study projects a big rise in the proportion of the UK population comprising foreign-born and second-generation immigrants, from below 20 per cent to 33.5 per cent within the next 25 years. By the end of the century, six in 10 people in the UK will either not have been born in the UK, or will have at least one immigrant parent, and one in five will be Muslim, according to the report by Prof Matt Goodwin. The dramatic population change raises “profound questions about the capacity of the UK state to both absorb and manage this scale of demographic change”, he claimed... A comprehensive inquiry undertaken by the Commons education committee in 2021 found a significant educational achievement gap between white working class children and their more advantaged peers, and between this group and their equally disadvantaged ethnic minority counterparts. According to the report, attainment gaps are fuelled by high concentrations of poverty, inadequate resources, low teacher quality, and a lack of aspiration and investment in disadvantaged areas. Use of the term “white privilege” was also criticised for potentially alienating disadvantaged white communities"

Rafe Heydel-Mankoo on X - "Amazed that people can be so cavalier about the white British becoming a minority by the 2060s The consequences are profound If Britain's only 30% white British will it still be Britain? How can the integration of immigrants be achieved when the indigenous population is itself an ethnic minority? What will the dominant culture be for popular music, film, comedy, sport etc. – the things that traditionally bind a nation together and which help forge both social cohesion and a sense of national identity? All too often, debates around immigration focus upon the impact on our economy, infrastructure and public services. I would argue that the impact this has on our culture and the cohesion of our communities and wider British society is even more important. A country's economy, infrastructure and public services can always bounce back from hard times and extreme pressures. But when the demographics of a nation drastically & dramatically alter - relegating the indigenous population to the status of a minority - the cultural and social change is so profound, that it will be impossible to recover or restore. Demographics matter. All of the sociological and economic evidence shows that increased ethnic diversity leads to a decline in social trust, happiness and perceived quality of life. People from areas of high diversity are less likely to become involved in their community, less likely to vote, or to volunteer or join community organisations. They become reclusive, have fewer friends and have low trust in their neighbours. This has a corrosive effect on local communities. The decline in social trust leads to lack of civic pride and maintenance, and a rise in crime, vandalism and general decay. When a society doesn’t have much in common, it’s much less likely that they will feel united and invested in one another. Does anyone seriously believe Britain or the USA are more culturally intact, socially cohesive and harmonious than ethnically homogeneous Poland or Japan? Clip from my speech on this subject:"
Left wingers don't believe in national identity or a common culture, so

How Starmer went from 'welcoming migrants' to 'parroting Reform's scapegoating' - "‘We welcome migrants. ‘We don’t scapegoat them. Low wages, poor housing, poor public services are not the fault of migrants and people who’ve come here: they’re political failure. Political failure. ‘So we have to make the case for the benefits of migration, the benefits of free movement.’ Keir Starmer spoke those words in January 2020, shortly before Brexit was delivered and the UK officially left the European Union. He was running for the Labour leadership at the time – a race he won just over two months later... he did anything but ‘make the case for the benefits of migration’ – instead, he argued the system is ‘contributing to the forces that are slowly pulling our country apart’ and migrants are putting ‘a downward pressure on wages’... Plaid Cymru’s Westminster leader Liz Saville-Roberts stood up to suggest ‘the only principle he consistently defends is whichever he last heard in a focus group’. She asked Starmer: ‘Is there any belief he holds which survives a week in Downing Street?’ The PM leapt up to fire back: ‘Yes, the belief that she talks rubbish.’ His comeback was described as ‘unbelievably and unnecessarily rude’ by former Tory foreign secretary James Cleverly, while Saville-Roberts said it ‘showed that my question struck a nerve’. Later, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage stood up to say he thought Starmer was apparently ‘learning a very great deal from us’ after watching the speech."

Keir Starmer goes big on immigration - "contrary to what the vast majority of hardworking people in this country want, officials in the Home Office are now working on the assumption that the overall annual rate of net migration into Britain will settle at around the 525,000 mark for the foreseeable future —yes, 525,000. While Keir Starmer today will talk about the need “to bring the numbers down”, government officials are openly acknowledging that the key number will now remain nearly 200,000 higher than it was at the time of the Brexit vote, when politicians similarly promised to “lower the overall numbers”. That’s more than half a million people, net, coming into the country year in, year out, forever. This is equivalent to adding a city the size of Edinburgh to the population every year. A city the size of Edinburgh needing housing. A city the size of Edinburgh needing schools, GPs, and healthcare. A city the size of Edinburgh needing integrating. A city the size of Edinburgh needing roads, transport, and infrastructure. Sorry, but who voted for this? I ask again, who voted for this? And why the higher figure? Because the so-called expert class —the same ones who told us only a few thousand people would migrate from Europe in 2004— have only just cottoned on to the fact, visible in the data for some time, that migrants from the likes of Afghanistan, Syria, and Nigeria are staying in Britain for a longer period than was previously thought. Huh —who would have thought? None of this should surprise you. For decades, politicians on both the Left and Right, alongside the civil service and the expert class, have not only over-promised only to under-deliver, but also routinely got their estimates wildly wrong. Almost every major forecast of immigration numbers in the last twenty years has gone on to be revised upwards because the number-crunchers who like to lecture everybody else about the importance of deferring to experts got it wrong. So now, in a remarkable turn of events that will shock absolutely nobody, those at the very heart of this system are openly admitting that the era of mass uncontrolled immigration is here to stay —no matter what the tax-paying, voting and democratic citizens of these islands want to see and no matter what Keir Starmer says today."

I just got UK citizenship – but now want to leave this scary unwelcoming island - "it was announced that net migration to the UK has nearly halved to 431,000 in the last year. The reason given by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) was a sharp decline from non-EU countries for work and study visas and an increase in people leaving the UK. I’m not surprised; my stomach dropped recently when Keir Starmer insisted immigration has done “incalculable damage” to the country. I am relieved that I seem to have received my citizenship in the nick of time, but the Prime Minister’s comments make me feel sick. “Settlement in the UK is a privilege that is earned, not a right,” he declared. The suggestion here is that the vast majority of immigrants come to the UK, put their feet up, and demand to be given a place in society. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Those of us who do qualify for settlement will have already contributed thousands upon thousands of pounds in visa fees, Immigration Health Surcharge fees (£1,035 per year), National Insurance and income tax, not to mention all the costs that make up a normal life... Starmer has let me down which stings especially badly because I voted for Labour in the last general election, hoping he would be able to turn the tide. Instead, he has dived right into it."
All migrants are good and if you don't believe in open borders, you are a bad person
Left wing rhetoric based on disembodied ideals is more valid than statistics on lifetime fiscal impact
The people who voted for Labour hoping they would stem migration must be ignored, because ignoring what the electorate wants is only oligarchy when the electorates wants the left wing agenda

Pakistani drug dealer can stay in UK ‘to teach son about Islam’ - "A Pakistani drug dealer has been allowed to remain in the UK because of his role in talking to his son about Islam and his culture. The Home Office ordered the deportation of Muhammad Asif Karim, 43, after he amassed seven convictions for a total of 21 offences, including supplying the class A drugs heroin and cocaine, for which he served a four-year jail sentence. He won his appeal against his removal after arguing that it would breach his rights to a family life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). An upper tribunal accepted it would be “unduly harsh” on his son if he was to be deported to Pakistan, even though his child was being “largely brought up by his white British mother”. The son gave evidence to the immigration court that his father “is able to talk to him about Islam, about Pakistani culture and his own upbringing”... Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, has announced plans to curb judges’ powers to block deportations with new legally enforced “common sense” rules to clarify how judges interpret Article 8 of the ECHR, and to strengthen the public interest test. Karim came to the UK on a visitor’s visa in 1988 at the age of seven and never went home. After his prison sentence for drug dealing, he avoided deportation by becoming a witness in a murder trial. However, he was thrown off a witness protection programme after continuing to offend. Even though the Home Office issued the deportation order against him in 2015, it was not until 2023 that his appeal against his removal was considered by a first-tier tribunal. It backed his claim on Article 8 grounds, but the Home Office appealed against that decision. The upper tribunal heard that he had avoided criminality for a decade, enjoyed a “parental relationship” with his son and had lived in the UK for 26 years, amounting to most of his life. After being told about his talks with his son, the tribunal accepted that these were “matters fundamental” to the boy’s identity. The Home Office argued that this was “conjecture”, with no independent corroboration from a social worker or psychologist."
