Interracial marriage in Singapore

According to the Department of Statistics's Statistics on Marriages and Divorces Reference Year 2020, in both 2010 and 2020, 18% of marriages were inter-ethnic.

For interracial marriages under the Women's Charter (i.e. those not involving two Muslims), the top 5 Ethnic Group Combinations for 2020 are:

Chinese male - "Others" female - 36.2%
Caucasian male - Chinese female - 16.4%
Caucasian male - Others female - 7.1%
Indian male - Chinese female - 7.1%
"Others" male - Chinese female - 6.6%
Other combinations make up 26.7% of interracial marriages under the Women's Charter.

For interracial marriages under the Administration of Muslim Law Act (i.e. those involving two Muslims), the top 5 Ethnic Group Combinations for 2020 are:

Indian male - Malay female - 26.9%
Malay male - Indian female - 18.1%
Malay male - Chinese female - 13.4%
Malay male - "Others" female - 10.6%
"Others" male - Malay female - 8.2%
Other combinations make up 22.8% of interracial marriages under the Administration of Muslim Law Act.

Broadly speaking, this coheres with my theory of interracial dating (unpublished).

It is interesting that "“Others” refers to all ethnic groups excluding Chinese, Malays, Indians, Eurasians and Caucasians".

White men do interracial marriage so much that they had to be broken out of the usual CMIO framework.

Indeed, if we look at the top 5 combinations under the Women's Charter alone, white men make up 23.5% of interacial marriages in Singapore.

This is especially notable given that for most 2020, covid conditions prevailed, which would have reduced the number of foreigners getting married in Singapore.
