Europe CNY 2012 - Day 12, Part 1 - Lyon

Europe CNY 2012
Day 12, Part 1 - 30th January - Lyon

Earlier post: Misquoting Popper: Tolerating Intolerance

I left the hostel at 10am. Slacking was shiok, even if there was an opportunity cost. It wasn't so bad, since it being Monday everything was closed but the Fine Arts Museum.

I decided to drop the Gallo-Roman museum since every museum had a Roman collection. I'm sure the Fine Arts museum had one too.

A damn short metro line: 5 stops. Berlin has one with 3.

First I went to the Croix-Rousse Hill, a centre of silk manufacture in the days before China took over everything.

It was quite nice but a lot of it was product placement

Spring is like sex. Maye the other seasons are like sex too - just different positions.

Doggy toilet
This was the first time I'd seen such a thing. It's a good idea. However I still saw shit nearby. 1 guy's dog started shitting outside the place and he pushed it here. How civic-minded!

Unlike Paris most of the street signs here weren't history lessons.

It used to be the Rue Lafont. Very considerately they have left the old name for reference.

Here is a picture of the fountain on 5th February, about a week after I left, showing how cold it was.

Town Hall again. It looks different from the back view because it's a very large building.

Packing light is not a good idea in winter. Apparently it was unseasonably warm in Lyon till I arrived. I "brought winter" with me, so I was told.
