Somehow, even though the women have to be single professionals and pay to get in, many people have turned this into "oh look the poor women are being exploited":

As someone points out:
"The thing that sticks out is how almost all of the women were rich mainlanders working in finance. Generally all worked for Goldmann Sachs, their English was often very good and many laughed very maniacally at my lame jokes. It was all very cringe-worthy."
I suspect much of the outrage would've been quieted if it'd been the men who had to pay and it was free for the ladies (like with Ladies Nights at many establishments).
