Day 6 - 3rd August - Kings Canyon (Rim Walk) (Part 1)
In the morning we attempted the longer walk - the Rim Walk.

Dingo Diary

Good luck getting your HTC Desire back.
We'd had 2 early mornings in a row, so we declined to chase the sunrise for the second day in a row, even if the sun would've been a blazing ball of fire like the previous morning.

View of the trek - we'd be climbing up to the level of the top of those cliffs

Riverbed

Climb up. This was the hardest stretch as it was up all the way.

I'd bought the "Great Aussie Flynet" from the previous day for fun. The rubric had claimed it was only found in Kings Canyon Resort but of course I found it elsewhere later - for less. So I tried it on, since the flies were bugging me.
Naturally I looked like an idiot in it. I didn't mind the looking dumb bit, but it also obscured my vision (this was telling - it was made by a souvenir company). It wouldn't be any good to be safe from flies while plummeting down the canyon to my doom due to a misstep, so I took it off (it didn't work anyway, as I found out through more tests later).

Pondering a cross-section through time
"You have climbed over 100 metres. Take the opportunity to rest here and drink some water before continuing on.
The next part of the Rim Walk is more leisurely."
Notice it doesn't say "the rest of the Rim Walk will be more leisurely".

Purple flowers. I thought this plant, being in the desert, would feature the famous waxy leaves, but it felt like felt.

All in all, the walk was easier than they made it out to be, though there were some parts where we had to clamber over rocks.
