Army suspends base’s commander after Trump portrait was flipped to wall - "The Army has suspended a Wisconsin training base’s first female commander after discovering portraits of President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had been flipped around to face a wall.  The Army has posted an undated statement on Fort McCoy’s website saying Col. Sheyla Baez Ramirez has been suspended as the base’s garrison commander"

John Pavlovitz on X - "Dear Good People of America, Whatever you wish more good people in Germany would have done in 1931, do it now."
I saw someone sharing this in March 2025. Trump was deporting the anti-Semites  terrorising the Jews, but the left wingers were very upset about that

Meme - Harry Sisson @harryjsisson: "The White House is ignoring federal courts and just doing whatever they want. Trump wants to be a king and MAGA will stand by and clap along like good little servants. Constitutional crisis is here."
Retard Finder @IfindRetards: "This you ?"
Harry Sisson @ha...: "Amazing. President Biden just announced that he will invoke the Higher Education Act to bypass the conservative majority on the Supreme Court and their terrible ruling. He's fighting for student debt relief and won't give up this battle."

Gregg Nunziata on X - "I'm often talking about how amazing it is that the Right went from considering Clinton morally unfit for office to embracing Trump. But it is probably more remarkable that it went from recoiling at the cult of personality around Obama to building a bigger one around Trump."
John Ekdahl on X - "It’s not difficult to understand. In 2012, Republicans ran a morally honorable choir boy, and the media branded him a robber baron, an animal abuser, a cancer-spreader, and a neoconfederate racist. So, Republicans changed course and nominated an unrepentant bruiser."

Meme - "All of us watching The Phantom Menace back in 1999: "Why does any of this matter? Who gives a shit about the taxation of trade routes?!"
George Lucas in February 2025: *laughing*"

Cenk Uygur on X - "While the left is yelling at me not to work with MAGA, here’s @DonaldJTrumpJr saying we should limit generals from working for defense contractors. That’s a policy we’ve been pushing for and gotten nowhere with Democrats on. Who cares who does it as long as it gets done?!"
Weird. The left keep claiming that Trump told Republicans to spike the border bill which was claimed to control illegal immigration (when it didn't). But of course when it benefits them politically to block the right, cooperation is bad

hasanabi on X - "unc i dont think a defense contractor who happens to be the wealthiest billionaire on the planet is going to genuinely listen to your concerns about what parts of the budget they're going to cut. this is preferring someone to lie to you rather than one who doesnt even do that."
Cenk Uygur on X - "Oh, I hadn’t considered that Republicans might not be genuine!! I’m a rookie, so that’s a shocking revelation to me. Show me the time Democrats even asked for suggestions on how to cut the Pentagon from me, you or anyone else in their base. So, I’ll take a conversation on it!"
A screenshot of this and most of the following Cenk Uygur tweets got blocked by ifunny, probably because of "Neo-Nazi"
In February and March the Pentagon announced cuts. The cope is going to be that these aren't real cuts, so the Republicans were still lying

Cenk Uygur on X - "My politics hasn’t changed at all. I’ve wanted to cut the Pentagon for 20 years. Do you not want to cut it because Elon or Trump does (if they really do)? And my point is that the Democrats are not responsive to their base and MAGA responded to our policies before they did!"

Cenk Uygur on X - "I asked @elonmusk to put me in charge of cutting the Pentagon. And he said - what are your suggestions? I run the largest left-wing network online and a Democratic leader has NEVER asked me that question. The idea that they would take advice from a populist is disdainful to them.
Now, which side seems more open and inclusive? Which side seems more welcoming and which side tries really hard to drive you away if you disagree even a little with orthodoxy? Which side is asking for suggestions and which one is demanding compliance and obedience?"

Cenk Uygur on X - "When I became a Democrat, it was the more tolerant party. Republicans were run by religious nut jobs and corporate robots. Now, the Democrats are in a lot of ways the less tolerant party.   The least tolerant part is actually the establishment wing of the party that says anyone opposing their anointed leaders is committing heresy. If you try to give constructive criticism of the party to improve it, they drive you from the party while screaming, “He’s not a real Democrat!!”  They hate populists. They have become the corporate robots I couldn’t stand. They hate their base. They insult our intelligence by pretending that the donors are not in charge. They think we should be controlled and learn how to follow orders. And they have no idea how elitist they sound.   Predictably, their unironic reaction to this post will be, “Heretic!!”"

Cenk Uygur on X - "As everyone knows, I have a thousand criticisms of Trump, but at @TheYoungTurks we also give credit where credit is due - and have done that from day one. There is one thing Trump is excellent at - letting bygones be bygones. He has done that, from Morning Joe to Lindsey Graham."

Meme - Charles Murray @charlesmurray: "I fear yours may be no higher than 72%. And I'm an expert."
John O'Connell @jdpoc: "A reminder that #Trump's IQ, estimated by experts and educationers from his speech patterns and word choice, has been assessed 'as low as 73%. No higher than 80%". He's a moron. A dangerous moron. And his followers are, too."
Readers added context: "Not only is IQ not measured in percentages, the claim that Trump's IQ had been measured as 73 has been debunked as false."

AF Post on X - "The world’s 500 richest people lost $536 billion in the past two days. Follow: @AFpost"
Common Sense Extremists on X - "Leftists: Eat the rich!!!
Trump: ok, I’ll impose tariffs that will stop the rich from abandoning American workers and goods.
Leftists: NOT LIKE THAT!!!"

Hyundai's 30 billion CAD move: U.S. tariff strategy unveiled - "Chairman Chung emphasized that this is the largest American investment in the company's history... President Donald Trump considers the investment, despite its beginnings in 2019, as evidence of the effectiveness of his current policy."
I thought the economic volatility was supposed to torpedo all investment plans

Wall Street Apes on X - "1) 1996 Nancy Pelosi encourages all of Congress to back reciprocal tariffs
2) 2008 Bernie Sanders wants tariffs, says jobs are going overseas
3) 2018 Barack Obama calls for reciprocal tariffs
4) 1988 Donald Trump says foreign countries must pay tariffs
Only 1 hasn’t sold out"

US wants Indonesia to undo trade barriers amid tariff threat, but Jakarta should stand firm: Analysts - "Indonesia should stand firm against the United States’ recent demands to remove a broad suite of trade practices Washington considers unfair, experts said, arguing that some of these policies are needed to protect Southeast Asia’s largest economy’s national interests."
Weird. I thought trade restrictions were bad

Meme - georebekahjones: "Just an FYI, they're openly threatening everyone now. That includes me and you."
The White House: "Simply put: WE WILL FIND YOU-AND WE WILL KILL YOU."
"Just not posting the entire thing now our we?"
The White House: "To the Terrorists Who Wish to Do Us Harm: We Will Hunt You Down"
When anti-Trumpers admit that they are terrorists who wish to harm Americans.

Meme - "Never Ask A Woman Her Age
A Man, His Salary
A Liberal, why $3 trillion has been put into the department of education since 1979 yet test scores, reading rates, and global education rankings have dropped significantly"

Jeremy Wayne Tate on X - "The first time I heard somebody say the Department of Ed should not exist I thought they were nuts. Then they asked me to list just one academic metric that has improved since its inception in 1980. I couldn’t. Nobody can. The DOE has overseen nothing but decline..."
If killing witches doesn't stop bad weather, that shows that witch magic is very powerful and proof that more witches need to be killed

Denmark boosts Arctic defence spending by $2.1 billion, responding to US pressure - "Following more than a decade of drastic cuts in defence spending, last year Denmark allocated 190 billion Danish crowns ($26 billion) for its military over a 10-year span, part of which has now been allocated to the Arctic. Denmark, while responsible for Greenland's security and defence, has limited military capabilities on the vast island, widely regarded as a security black hole. At present, Denmark's capacities include four ageing inspection vessels, a Challenger surveillance plane and 12 dog sled patrols, all tasked with monitoring an area four times the size of France."

Remember this lady, Navy Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, the same lady who refused to put up President Trump’s photo, and said she’d wait him out? She’s fired! 🤣🤣🤣 : r/Jordan_Peterson_Memes - "Part of being in the military is taking an oath to follow all lawful orders! This is simple insubordination."

Kassy Akiva on X - "NEW: Trump just signed an executive order that:
1. Gives federal agencies 60 days to outline tools to combat antisemitism
2. Calls for deporting antisemitic protesters who violate laws
3. Orders DOJ to investigate and punish anti-Jewish racism on campuses"
Damn Nazi!

Thread by @henrysgao on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "Three things you need to know about Liberation Day tariffs:
1. It’s not about the methodology.  The formula has been widely mocked, but that misses the point. The numbers aren’t meant to hold up in a PhD defense—they’re meant to shock, to create leverage. The more extreme the figure, the stronger the incentive for other countries to come to the negotiating table with the U.S.
2. It’s not even about the tariffs. The real issue isn’t Vietnam’s tariff rates—it’s China’s trans-shipment tactics and its central role in global supply chains.  The aim is to isolate China and rewrite the rules of global trade. If a country like Vietnam is willing to align with that goal, it doesn’t matter much whether it sets its tariffs for American products at 0%, 5%, or even 9.4% (current rate).
3. It’s not personal with any country—except one. The tariffs are universal, affecting even places like Heard Island and McDonald Islands, sparking confusion and anger worldwide.  But as @howardlutnick explained, this blanket approach is designed to block every possible loophole China could exploit.  In effect, all countries have become collateral damage in the U.S.-China economic standoff.  Until the two strike a grand bargain—or the U.S. builds a broad coalition to ring-fence China—the fallout will continue to ripple across the globe."

Thread by @RodDMartin on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "🧵BREAKING: Why America holds ALL the cards in the US-China tariff showdown. A thread on how Trump's playing hardball while Xi's running out of moves...
🔥 Let me tell you why Beijing's in DEEP trouble. Trump just hit China with 54% tariffs - and he's threatening to jack it up to 104% if Xi doesn't back down.  But here's the kicker...  The numbers don't lie: China's $300B trade surplus with US is about to become their biggest weakness. A high tariff hits them WAY harder than it hits us.  Basic math the Enemedia seems to have forgotten. They need our market more than we need their stuff.
With most countries, Trump wants to eliminate tariffs: that's what "reciprocal" is about. All current deals are lopsided subsidies. Made sense during the Cold War. Not now.  By making things fair, Trump incentivizes them to cut their tariffs to zero.  And that's exactly what's happening. Countries from Argentina to Vietnam are falling all over themselves to cut "zero-zero" tariff deals with Trump. Even the EU is in on it, though their offer is weaker than it needs to be.
But China's different.  China is our top geopolitical enemy. They openly talk about attacking us, even with nuclear and biological weapons. And they've endlessly used unfair trade practices to drive American businesses under.  Now Trump means to turn the screws.   And Xi CAN'T back down even if he wants to. He's sold himself as the guy who "stands up to America." Caving to Trump now would be POLITICAL SUICIDE.  Talk about being backed into a corner...
BOMBSHELL: 70 countries are already lining up to negotiate free- or close-to-free trade deals with the US.  Meanwhile, China's stuck with its "fight to the end" stance.  But fight with what? Their options are LIMITED. And pride is pushing them places they can't afford to go. And Trump's not just targeting China directly - he's hitting countries they use for transshipping (looking at you, Southeast Asia) with 50% tariffs 🎯  Countries like Vietnam are already seeking a "zero-zero" tariff deal with the U.S. Blocking Chinese cheating will be key.
🚨 IMPORTANT: China's "nuclear option" - rare earth controls - isn't as powerful as they think. Trump's already working on short-term alternatives. But longer term, that's a lot of what Greenland and Ukraine are about.  Chess not checkers, people. Wall Street's crying about market drops, but Trump's playing the long game: "Sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something."  He's not wrong.
🎯 BOTTOM LINE: Xi's trapped in a corner of his own making, while Trump's got a full deck of cards to play.  This isn't ending anytime soon, but we know who's holding the stronger hand..."

Shawn Farash on X - "So "Trump is bad because he's going to enrich his billionaire friends" was the talking point...  Until a panicked market sell-off...  And now the Democrats are upset that "billionaires" on Wall Street are losing money.  These people stand for nothing. Absolutely nothing."

Why nobody in the world is reporting the truth about Trump’s tariffs - "At 4.2% the unemployment in the States isn't at its lowest but it's pretty low. However, unemployment rate is a poor metric that measures only the share of people in the labour force who are actually looking for a job – it does not include those who are disillusioned and quit.  Labour force participation rate as reported by OECD for people aged between 15 and 64 is 75% for the US, compared to 80% for Germany, Canada or Australia, 82% for Japan or 85% for the Netherlands.  So, there is room for improvement, for between 10 to 20 million people.  There is also the problem of quality of those jobs, how well they pay relative to people's needs and regional and sectoral unemployment problems which have turned many smaller American towns into ghost villages... While everybody is busy talking about the inevitable decline in trade and a rise in prices (of some goods, at least), few seem to be mentioning how much money those tariffs may raise for the budget.  As I explained here they really aren't anything special – they're just a tax. Instead of a broad sales tax or VAT, widely employed around the world, Trump has decided to place a relatively higher rate but only on goods shipped from abroad.  How is it that Europeans can charge 20 or 25% in VAT but Americans can't tax only the products they select on the basis of their origin, given their vast trade deficits? All taxes reduce consumption and, thus, trade... Think about it – if the president or prime minister in your country came out and said: instead of taxing all of you directly, we're going to only tax the products somebody else makes – would that not be preferable?... Finally, the least attention seems to be given to the reshoring of manufacturing back to the US.  Trump is being ridiculed for trying to bring back factories making plastic dolls, but in reality it's about the heavy industries that a superpower needs to have, regardless of the cost... Once again seemingly intelligent people around the world are quick to dismiss the US president on the basis of his reputation and behaviour, ignoring the underlying motivations for his actions.      And they are doing it at their own peril, since international trade as a share of GDP is just 25% for the US compared to 37% for China and 45% for the EU. In other words, in an equal exchange of tariff blows Americans stand to lose less. Finally, in the ongoing frenzy, with media commentators dissecting and criticising the methods behind Trump's tariff rates, their sense is lost on them.  They are a start not the end.  Trump has signalled willingness to talk with countries in a bilateral manner. About 70 have already reached out with counterproposals and yes, White House is now going to try and squeeze the most out of them in exchange for some tariff relief."

Kirk Lubimov on X - "🚨Donald Trump has announced a 90 pause on tariffs to negotiate with all the countries who reached out - except the countries that retaliated against the US with tariffs. Who are these countries? Canada and China. As of right now, tariffs are in place on Canada and both the  Liberals & CPC supported this.  Canada is run by idiots."

Meme - Geiger Capital @Geiger_Capital: "One shipyard in China made more commercial ships in 2024 than the total number the US has produced since World War II.  The destruction of America’s industrial base is a massive national security threat."
"The U.S. accounts for 0.1% of global shipbuilding  Meanwhile, China produces more than the rest of the world combined."

Oilfield Rando on X - "“Hey guys maybe we shouldn’t destroy the economy and supply chains and get millions of people laid off and decimate everyone’s small businesses and 401k accounts with these bad policies”

Yes. I remember that."

Purple Proz on X - "Yup.

1995: “Hey guys, let’s join the WTO and NAFTA so that we can maintain our export dominance to the rest of the world and instead insure a wave of manufacturing leaving the country over the next 30 years.”
1999: “Hey guys, let’s deregulate the financial sector and allow banks to invest in highly risky real estate derivatives that crash the housing market 10 years later.”
2015-2025: “Hey guys, let’s double the national debt from $18T to $35T, even though there is no major war or depression to justify the need for accelerated spending.”"

Bernie Moreno on X - "It’s fascinating to watch democrats and their media allies gas light Americans by telling them car prices *might* go up with tariffs by up to $6,000.  During the Biden administration, car prices *actually* went up by $8,000 (20%). Total silence."

Dan O'Donnell on X - "I’m old enough to remember that in 2022 the Nasdaq dropped 30% and the S&P 500 was down 20% and the media spent the year telling us that we weren’t in a recession and in fact the definition of a recession we had always used wasn’t actually correct."
