Links - 1st November 2024 (3 - Hamas Attack Oct 2023 [including Sinwar])

Hen Mazzig on X - "One of the most harrowing recordings from October 7th is of a nine-year-old girl on Kibbutz Be'eri.   A police dispatcher listened as she pleaded with Hamas men who had captured her, telling them she was just a child and that she had school to attend the next day.   The operator begged, but the terrorist shot the child and burned her remains, which were later recovered.   The pure evil that Hamas wrought that day will never be forgotten.   Neither will the memories of the 93 children were murdered, injured, or kidnapped on October 7th. May their memories forever be a blessing 💔"

Plante decries 'unacceptable' vandalism during pro-Palestinian protest - "demonstrators smashed windows at Concordia University and luxury stores and launched Molotov cocktails at police... The protest follows an incident last week in which three individuals were detained after clashes between police and protesters near the Guy-Concordia métro station... After the vandalism unfolded Sunday night, images circulated on social media, with the Instagram account Clash MTL appearing to endorse the protest, sharing photos of the destruction."

Plante decries 'unacceptable' vandalism during pro-Palestinian protest : r/montreal - "For thoses who think this was just another protest, they threw molotov cocktails at police and started breaking windows at St Catherine.  Look at this shit https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2024/09/30/manifestation-pro-palestine-des-cocktails-molotov-lances-vers-les-policiers-au-centre-ville  The entire point of theses riots now is to legitimize political violence so that you just go "same old same old" when a headline like this appears  Esti de caves"
Plante decries 'unacceptable' vandalism during pro-Palestinian protest : r/montreal - "ok, but you don't kick out the extremists out of your rallies. Thats the problem. If anything theyre the ones organizing them and you attend them anyways without even fact checking which org is organizing it and not bothering to check their twitter or instagram where they post strict homophobia or holocaust denial.  When the right has nazi flags show up at their protests, we expect them to kick them out, but when we complain about the left having hamas and hezbollah flags at the protest, we get hit with thousands of angry comments saying that its not true and that even if it was who cares, solidarity forever by any means necessary.  you refuse to kick out theses people from your protests. you eagerly march alongside them. At a certain point, you're personally responsible for the situation devolving to this point."
Plante decries 'unacceptable' vandalism during pro-Palestinian protest : r/montreal - "Why either side? Have you seen a pro isreali protester throwing a molotov cocktail? A pro isreali shooting bullets at Muslim schools? Or pro Israelis sharing list of Muslim owned businesses? The answer is No. These 2 groups are not the same..."

Meme - dahlia kurtz ✡︎ דליה קורץ @DahliaKurtz: "🍎Do you think it's okay for a Vice Principal to sign his work emails like this?  "Our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of Palestinians."  I'm pretty sure it's against Toronto District School Board policy. But then again, it's pretty clear @tdsb  is against Jews."

A year into the Israel-Hamas war, students say a chill on free speech has reached college classrooms - "Lieberwitz, who teaches labor law at Cornell University, has been alarmed by the growing number of colleges requiring students to register demonstrations days in advance. “It’s so contradictory to the notion of how protests and demonstrations take place,” she said. “They’re oftentimes spontaneous. They’re not planned in the way that events are generally planned.”"
If protests are spontaneous, they don't need outside sponsorship, right?
Of course, the same people who claim terrorism supporters have the right to take over campuses want to punch "Nazis" and "fascists"

Pro-Palestinian protesters pitch encampment outside Jewish Democrat's Ohio home - "Masked pro-Palestinian demonstrators escalated their harassment of a Jewish congressman on the eve of Monday’s anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack, pitching an encampment outside Ohio Democratic Rep. Greg Landsman ’s Cincinnati residence."
Of course, if you harass politicians the left approves of, you're a danger to democracy

Columbia student group retracts apology of member who said ‘Zionists deserve to die’ - "The most prominent pro-Palestinian student group at Columbia University walked back an apology it had issued for a student who said “Zionists don’t deserve to live.” The statement on Tuesday from Columbia University Apartheid Divest also included an explicit call for violence. It comes as pro-Palestinian groups at Columbia and other universities have made clear that they intend to continue and in many cases escalate their activism in the current school year. “We support liberation by any means necessary, including armed resistance,” the CUAD statement said. “In the face of violence from the oppressor equipped with the most lethal military force on the planet, where you’ve exhausted all peaceful means of resolution, violence is the only path forward.” The student, Khymani James, had made the remark about Zionists in a video he posted in January, in which he also said, “Be grateful that I’m not just going out and murdering Zionists.” Columbia barred James from campus in April, after the video resurfaced and garnered widespread attention and criticism. At the time, James was a prominent activist in Columbia’s pro-Palestinian encampment movement... James filed a lawsuit against Columbia in a New York State court, saying the university had violated his rights by misusing the student conduct system to discriminate against and harass him. Less than two weeks later, CUAD released its statement retracting the apology. The retraction was published a day after the first anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 invasion of Israel, and said CUAD’s original statement in April had been written by the group’s organizers, not James himself. It cast the statement as a betrayal of the group’s principles, and offered an apology to James, saying he had been subjected to discrimination. The apology “does not represent Khymani or CUAD’s values or political lines,” the statement said. “CUAD organizers were complicit in not maintaining our political line.” James thanked the group for the statement, writing on Twitter, “I never wrote the neo-liberal apology posted in late April, and I’m glad we’ve set the record straight.”... CUAD hailed the October 7 attack and posted, “We are Westerners fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization.” Columbia disavowed the Tuesday post in a statement to the New York Jewish Week. “Statements advocating for violence or harm are antithetical to the core principles upon which this institution was founded. Calls for violence have no place at Columbia or any university,” Columbia said. The university’s community standards state that “threats of violence, or the inducement of others to engage in violence” are not covered by free speech protections. James had made the comments in a meeting with university staffers about a previous post in which he had said, “I fight to kill.”"
Clear proof that Zionists are violent and "pro-Palestinian" protesters need to defend themselves. Columbia University needs to be ashamed of itself for censoring "pro-Palestinian speech"

Columbia cracks down — not on the antisemites, but their critic - "Columbia University is only getting sicker. In the latest news, it has banned Business School prof Shai Davidai from campus, supposedly for harassing students on Oct. 7 — the anniversary of Hamas’ terror attack. It’s pretty obvious that the real problem is that Davidai keeps getting in the faces of the campus Jew-haters as they demonstrate. Meanwhile, no sanction at all for the keffiyeh-clad students who flooded campus that day chanting “resistance is glorious” and transparently antisemitic taunts. This comes a few months after three deans went on leave after news broke of their mocking text exchanges during a panel discussion about antisemitism on their campus. Joseph Sorett, the dean of Columbia College, was in on the group chat, but somehow is still on the job. In other Columbia news, the Columbia University Apartheid Divest radicals now say they’re sorry they apologized for Khymani James — a Students for Justice in Palestine member who said, “Be grateful that I’m not just going out and murdering Zionists.” Mind you, he (one of several pronouns James accepts) said that at a disciplinary hearing. At one point, he expressed regret, too — but no more, and his fellow CUAD fanatics are standing by him, citing the “anti-blackness and queerphobia that Khymani experienced” after their initial disavowal. None of them seem to mind Hamas’ “queerphobia”: They still praise the terrorists’ “historic act of resistance” Oct. 7. And Columbia hasn’t expelled a single one of the rioters who broke into Hamilton Hall in April, and probably never will. Nope: The school’s leaders are just silencing Shai Davidai. They couldn’t be sending a clearer message."

We've strayed from free speech to where murder is lionized: Ivison - "a self-proclaimed journalist named Samira Mohyeddin posted on X that “tens of thousands” of people were marching in Toronto to mark the one-year anniversary of “Israel’s relentless bombardment and genocide” in Gaza. The new journalism fellow at the University of Toronto’s Women and Gender Studies Institute, and former producer of CBC’s The Current, made no mention of what had prompted the “relentless bombardment.”... As Adam Kirsch, an editor at the Wall Street Journal and author of a new book called On Settler Colonialism, put it in a recent Munk Debate interview: “People who have protested the killing of Palestinian civilians are actually very excited about the killing of Israeli civilians” as part of a colonial struggle. That the settler colonial model is an ill-fit for what is more accurately a clash of two national movements carries little weight with young progressives who accept the paradigm uncritically. To them, Western civilization is an invasion and has no right to exist... B’nai Brith, the Jewish community organization, recorded a 109 per cent increase in antisemitic incidents last year, the worst on record. Violence against Jews increased more than 200 per cent. It is a grim picture, except for the fact that law enforcement seems belatedly to be getting its act together... The country’s largest municipal police force arrested two men for carrying Hezbollah flags last week. Given Hezbollah is a listed terrorist entity, the men were charged with public incitement of hatred. Canada has laws against advocating genocide (section 318 of the Criminal Code), public incitement of hatred (section 319-1) and wilful promotion of hatred (section 319-2), but they have been used sparingly because of freedom of speech concerns."
The left wingers who are very keen to prosecute "hate speech" get very upset when people are arrested for advocating genocide, inciting hatred and supporting terrorists

Meme - Steve McGuire @sfmcguire79: "Remember the Harvard students who occupied a building and received free burritos and Twizzlers?  One of them says, “every faculty member who has mentored and taught her over the past four years has told her that she did a brave and principled thing, and they are so proud of her.”"
"During her appearance, *** apologized for any emotional harm or disruptions caused by her actions and emphasized that the group did not block access to any of the spaces in University Hall and posed no threat to the occupants. *** also commented on the fact that every faculty member who has mentored and taught her over the past four years has told her that she did a brave and principled thing, and they are so proud of her. Reflecting on the lessons she has leamed from the incident, she stands by her actions on November 16th because she feels as though they are historically contextualized and informed by her scholarship, as a student of American History and Literature"
House Committee on Education & the Workforce @EdWorkforceCmte: "🚨“Harvard failed, end of story.” -@virginiafoxx   New Harvard documents show that administrators overwhelmingly failed to discipline those involved in antisemitic activity on campus."
If you think faculty at colleges are radicalising their students, you're a dangerous far right conspiracy theorist spreading misinformation

Meme - Vivid.🇮🇱 @VividProwess: "A Palestinian father is crying about his “dead” child.  He forgot to tell his child not to scratch his leg in the middle of the act. Oops."

Saul Sadka on X - "October 6 was the original October 7.  In Egypt, October 6 is celebrated as Armed Forces Day. Every town has an October 6 Street, and there is even an October 6 City. Understanding why explains much about the Arab-Israeli conflict:  October 6 is the day when Egypt, Syria, and 10 other countries launched a surprise attack on Israel on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur. The Pan-Arab armies lost the war, and despite initial minimal gains, they were pushed back to approximately the pre-war lines within 20 days. The IDF was an hour's drive from Cairo.  Despite outnumbering the Israelis, the attackers lost men and materiel at an 8-to-1 ratio—a catastrophe. But as dictatorships, they lied and sold the loss of 20,000 men for no gains, despite their rank perfidy, as a victory. You take what you can get.  October 6 was the high-water mark of the 30 year Pan-Arab attempt to ethnically cleanse the Middle East of Jews. The reality that Israel was invulnerable to conventional conquest, even when using every dirty trick to gain an edge, led the eliminationists toward asymmetrical warfare—i.e., the Soviet-backed nationalist terrorism of the PLO, PFLP, etc.  Over the 40 years that followed, this was gradually neutered, petering out in the Second Intifada. However, the Iran-sponsored Islamist resurgence followed.  Fifty years and one day later, October 7 became the high-water mark of the Islamist attempt to wipe out the Jews, with Hamas' ironically named "Al Aqsa Flood."  The secular Pan-Arabists peaked on October 6; the Islamists on October 7. Like the Egyptians in 1973, Hamas had a few good hours, and no doubt they will name cities in honor of that day. But their plan to destroy Israel via radical Islam ended that day at noon—just as the Egyptians and Syrians failed 50 years before.  Maybe, after 120 years of disfiguring and immiserating their own societies to try to defeat the Jews, the Muslims of the Middle East will reconsider their honor war against the Jews. Or maybe not, but then they will keep losing, and this time there will be no doubt to anyone about who won."

Meme - Eyal Yakoby @EYakoby: "The official diversity committee at Oklahoma State University’s psychology department sent an email soliciting students to participate in the "Week of Rage" sponsored by SJP.  The first event is on Oct. 7th to celebrate the massacre. This is systemic antisemitism."
Alan Rosca @alanrosca: "It’s also a celebration of an abhorrent terrorist act by an Islamist terror group.   This radicalization and celebration of violence and terror in campuses across the country is a serious national security issue."
Some people claimed this was not a celebration. Weird that it started on October 7th, then

David Reaboi, Late Republic Nonsense on X - "When I see these videos, I’m still furious. And I’m sure I’ll be for the rest of my life. But, after a year, I’m even more sure of something else:  In an orgy of blood and slaughter, live-streamed to the world, the Palestinians lived up to their nihilistic calling—it was the greatest day in their history, the magnum opus of their national accomplishment, and the distilled essence of their identity.   For a day, they roamed southern Israel like an ancient brigand army, killing, raping, abducting, and sowing terror in a country they want fervently to destroy, but could never build. It could only recede from there. And it has.  None of them care there will never be a Palestinian state; it’s just Western elite psychopaths and morons who still cling to that absurdity. But, after a year, the smarter Palestinians should understand that their plan to destroy Israel is going nowhere. Honestly, I don’t care whether or not they understand; the result will be the same.   The genocidal fever-dream that’s always been in lieu of their national aspirations will never succeed, but they will continue to ground themselves to dust chasing after it."

Khamenei says Gaza war 'a symbol of the power of Islam'
How cheeky of him, dissing Islam like that

What Hamas misunderstood about the Middle East - "PERHAPS IN HIS final days he reflected on the irony. Last year Hassan Nasrallah had not been eager to start a war with Israel. Hizbullah’s leader felt dragged into it by Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas in Gaza, who had declined to consult his allies before his men attacked Israel on October 7th. But Nasrallah joined the war anyway: his own rhetoric left him little choice. Almost a year later, that decision would cost him his life. His assassination on September 27th was among the most momentous events in a momentous year. The worst massacre in Israel’s history led to the deadliest war in Palestinian history, Iran’s first direct attacks on Israel, even the first time in any war that missiles had been intercepted in space. None of this would have happened without Mr Sinwar’s fateful decision last October... Mr Sinwar wanted a cataclysmic war that would reshape the Middle East, and he got one. But in many ways it has not gone to plan. Gaza is in ruins. Hamas is battered. Hizbullah has lost its leader, its military command and its reputation for competence, while Iran feels vulnerable. There has been almost no sustained and spontaneous protest in the Arab world. No regimes fell, wobbled or cut ties with Israel. Even the economic consequences have been limited. The price of Brent crude is $10 lower than it was the day before Hamas attacked Israel, regional war be damned. Mr Sinwar went to war with two assumptions: that he would enjoy the support of a strong and united “axis of resistance”, a constellation of pro-Iranian militias; and that Israel’s conduct would inflame and mobilise the region. Those beliefs were shared by many Arab, Israeli and Western officials. The Hamas leader would have had good reason to expect help from Iran and its proxies. For years Nasrallah had promoted what he called the “unification of the arenas”, the idea that Iran-backed militias had forged a tight alliance and would co-ordinate to fight together against Israel and America. Battle-hardened from years of combat in Syria, Hizbullah would be primus inter pares. Israeli strategists were convinced by such talk. They warned that a “ring of fire” was encircling their country. Yet when it came time to test the idea, Nasrallah was hesitant. An overwhelming majority of Lebanese, including around 50% of his Shia constituents, opposed going to war to support Gaza. Nor were his Iranian patrons enthusiastic. Hizbullah’s arsenal was supposed to be preserved as their shield against a possible Israeli attack; they did not want to jeopardise that arsenal in order to protect Hamas. Nasrallah settled for a half-measure, a campaign of short-range missile fire that depopulated a slice of northern Israel but failed to halt, or even slow, Israel’s war in Gaza. It was hardly the full-throated support that Mr Sinwar expected. When Hamas officials met their Iranian sponsors in the weeks after October 7th, they complained about the lack of help. The Houthis in Yemen were more eager to join the fight, but they had their own limitation: distance... Iran and its proxies were victims of their own hype. For all their talk of unity, the “axis of resistance” is a network of disparate militias that operate out of failed or failing states. The past year has shown that they do not share the same interests, and that many have only a limited ability to wage a long-distance war. That leaves Iran in an uncomfortable position. The militias were meant to fight on its behalf—allowing Iran to stay out of direct conflict with Israel. Yet now the Islamic Republic feels compelled to fire ballistic missiles at Israel to avenge attacks on those militias, a step that will surely invite Israeli retaliation. Its shield has become a liability... Arab states have become more ruthless about suppressing dissent and no longer view pro-Palestine protests as a useful safety-valve for public anger. Posting on social media is displacing activism on the streets. Moreover, some people abhor Israel’s actions but find it impossible to support Hamas, an Islamist group backed by Iran. Most of all, though, there is a deep sense of fatalism. After the traumatic decade that began with the Arab spring in 2011, people are too exhausted and resigned to protest about anything. All this has made for an odd paradox: Arab states have been bystanders to an Arab-Israeli war. They denounced Israel’s war in Gaza but did not sever ties with the Jewish state, nor did they try to apply serious diplomatic or economic pressure on its Western backers. At the same time, they were desperate to avoid any confrontation with Iran, even when its proxies caused them real harm... In Lebanon the decapitation of Hizbullah, a militia-cum-political party, offers a chance to loosen its stranglehold on politics. A good place to start would be for parliament to select a president, filling a post that has been vacant for two years because Hizbullah and its allies insisted on choosing a crony. That vacancy has made it impossible for Lebanon to appoint a new government or fill key security posts."

Sinwar’s Bloody Gambit Changed the Middle East—but Not as He Imagined - WSJ - "just like the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks—in which Osama bin Laden aimed to destroy American power in the Middle East and spearhead an Islamist takeover of the region—Sinwar’s bloody gambit didn’t quite go to plan. In the short term, it has showcased Israel’s military strength, defanged the Iranian-led “axis of resistance” and made the aspirations of Palestinian self-determination more remote than ever. In part that is because, instead of facing a concerted attack from its foes, Israel has managed to go after them sequentially... Sinwar’s Oct. 7, 2023, plan has resulted in catastrophic devastation for Gaza and horrendous suffering by ordinary Palestinians who were never asked for assent to a war against a much stronger foe. Yet, the crisis he precipitated also punctured the illusion, long nurtured by Netanyahu, that Palestinian aspirations to statehood could be ignored forever as Israel pursued normalization with other Arab nations... “A necessary condition for any kind of positive changes in the Middle East is the elimination of terrorist masterminds like Sinwar and Nasrallah,” said Mark Dubowitz, chief executive of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a think tank that supports Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan. “But it’s not sufficient. Unless there is a concerted effort to weaken, to undermine, and if history smiles on us, to bring down the Islamic Republic of Iran, then these terrorist organizations will regenerate because the Iranians will continue to finance, weaponize, train and coordinate these terror armies.”"
Time to offer the Palestinians yet another peace deal that they will reject and/or accept but go back on, or that's ignoring their aspirations to statehood

Palestinians in Lebanon call Sinwar's killing a loss for their nation
Weird. I thought Hamas was holding Palestinians hostage and normal Palestinians didn't support terrorism

Sean Padraig McCarthy on X - "Israelis promised some of the poorest people on earth $400,000 and a chance to escape death if they betrayed Yahya Sinwar and none of them would do it. Over here in the richest country on earth people stay silent about genocide to protect their acting careers. What a contrast"
Wilfred Reilly on X - "A big reason for this is that Hamas is the dictatorial government of Palestine, and anyone to "betray" Sinwar would have been - if I recall the threat correctly - anally raped for days and then burnt alive. Spinning this as a sign "the great man was truly beloved" is beyond insanity."
Orli Peter on X - "Wait. You are saying Israel offered to stop the “genocide” and pay Palestinians substantial money if they release the hostages, and you think it’s commendable that they refused that offer? You would rather have the “genocide“ continue as long as they maintain their “honor” by refusing Israel’s wishes?"

Saul Sadka on X - "With Sinwar dead, 31 of the initial 54 "playing card" leaders are confirmed dead (58%), others are undoubtedly dead too, but unconfirmed by Israel. Assuming that the Hamas rank and file are dying at the same rate (in truth, they are certainly dying more), and taking the median estimate for Hamas' initial strength at 35,000, we can predict that c. 21,000 Hamas men are dead. At the at least 3,000 captured alive, and a conservative 5,000 severely injured, and we can see that Hamas are down to just a few thousand fighters.  The IDF has achieved this while losing 350 of their own, a kill ratio of 60 to 1, while keeping the combatant-civilian casualty ratio at a record low in modern warfare. Despite the unprecedented civilian setting and the weaponzing of the laws of war agaisnt them.  This is the real reason Hamas are done. Sinwar is just a trophy."

Tom Cotton on X - "Hamas’s genocidal leader, Yahya Sinwar, was killed in Rafah. Remember, Kamala Harris “studied the maps” and demanded that Israel not enter Rafah. Sinwar would be alive today and terrorizing the world if she got her way. Kamala Harris cannot be trusted as commander-in-chief."
Matt Whitlock on X - "“It would be a huge mistake for Israel to enter Rafah. I've studied the maps” I will never get over this sound bite. The worst possible combination of ignorant and arrogant."

Meme - "The far left has often spoken about the need to "abolish billionaires." No nation has abolished more billionaires in the past month than Israel. Ismail Haniyeh, worth 4 billion dollars, has been abolished. Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas' multi-billion dollar empire, has been abolished. The far left should be cheering Israel on as it abolishes the billionaires of Hamas."
"HAMAS LEADERS' NET WORTH. ISRAEL UNMASKS LAVISH LIFESTYLE OF HAMAS LEADERS"

Israel Killed Sinwar by Forcing Him From the Tunnels - WSJ - "even before the Oct. 7 attacks, Israel considered killing Sinwar, who was seen as a national-security threat, according to people involved in the plans. Israel at turns failed to find the right moment or pulled their operations when officials disagreed on the mission, the people said.  After Hamas militants killed 1,200 people and kidnapped around 250 others in October last year, there was no longer disagreement.  So began one of Israel’s biggest military and intelligence operations, led by Israel’s internal security agency, Shin Bet, and carried out by the Israeli military with help from U.S. intelligence agencies... Arab negotiators offered Sinwar an escape in exchange for allowing Egypt to negotiate for the release of the hostages on behalf of Hamas, but he declined. Sinwar clung to the hope that the conflict he ignited might draw in Iran and its proxy in Lebanon, Hezbollah, setting off a regional war against Israel—a possibility that remains... Israel’s military closed in on Hamas’s underground labyrinth, destroying strategic tunnel complexes. The Journal found that the tactic forced Sinwar to surface. With ever-fewer places to hide, he spent more time above ground... As Arab mediators tried to speed up cease-fire talks, Sinwar urged his comrades in Hamas’s political leadership based outside of Gaza to refuse concessions. High civilian casualties would create worldwide pressure on Israel, Sinwar said in a message... Sinwar messaged Hamas officials, urging them to refuse a hostage deal. Hamas had the upper hand in negotiations, Sinwar said, citing internal political divisions within Israel, cracks in Netanyahu’s wartime coalition and mounting U.S. pressure to alleviate the suffering in Gaza"
Weird. The terrorist supporters keep blaming Israel for being the one to reject ceasefires and killing Palestinians. Seems Sinwar must have been a Mossad agent since he was doing what the "Zionists" "wanted"

Exclusive | Gaza Chief’s Brutal Calculation: Civilian Bloodshed Will Help Hamas - WSJ - "In one message to Hamas leaders in Doha, Sinwar cited civilian losses in national-liberation conflicts in places such as Algeria, where hundreds of thousands of people died fighting for independence from France, saying, “these are necessary sacrifices.”... In an April 11 letter to Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh after three of Haniyeh’s adult sons were killed by an Israeli airstrike, Sinwar wrote that their deaths and those of other Palestinians would “infuse life into the veins of this nation, prompting it to rise to its glory and honor.” Sinwar isn’t the first Palestinian leader to embrace bloodshed as a means to pressure Israel. But the scale of the collateral damage in this war—civilians killed and destruction wrought—is unprecedented between Israelis and Palestinians... Even without a lasting truce, Sinwar believes Netanyahu has few options other than occupying Gaza and getting bogged down fighting a Hamas-led insurgency for months or years.  It is an outcome that Sinwar foreshadowed six years ago when he first became leader in the Gaza Strip. Hamas might lose a war with Israel, but it would cause an Israeli occupation of more than two million Palestinians.  “For Netanyahu, a victory would be even worse than a defeat,” Sinwar told an Italian journalist writing in 2018 in an Israeli daily, Yedioth Ahronoth... “We make the headlines only with blood,” Sinwar said in the interview at the time with an Italian journalist. “No blood, no news.”... Though Sinwar planned and greenlighted the Oct. 7 attacks, early messages to cease-fire negotiators show he seemed surprised by the brutality of Hamas’s armed wing and other Palestinians, and how easily they committed civilian atrocities.  “Things went out of control,” Sinwar said in one of his messages, referring to gangs taking civilian women and children as hostages. “People got caught up in this, and that should not have happened.” "
The only "genocide" here is autogenocide
Weird. Why didn't Sinwar know that it was the IDF who killed everyone on October 7th?

Richard Hanania on X - "Sinwar refused to make a hostage deal, specifically citing Biden administration pressure on Israel as a reason to fight on. You can talk about “human rights” in Gaza all you want. Have the honesty to admit that you take the pro-Hamas position that ensures they will rule forever."

Notes from Underground | The New Yorker - "Sharatha eventually explained the source of his despair: his sister, back in Gaza, was dishonoring the family by having an extramarital affair. Could Sinwar help find a way to have her appropriately punished? Sinwar promised to get word to his brother, Mohammed, a leading member of the Hamas military wing in Gaza. (Hamas prisoners routinely smuggled out messages through visitors.) The interrogation record notes that the deed was soon accomplished by one of Sharatha’s brothers: their sister was found dead in the Strip."
Richard Hanania on X - "Sinwar led "an enforcement squad that punished those who collaborated with Israel or who committed offenses against orthodox Islamic morality, including homosexuality, marital infidelity, and the possession of pornography.""
A true liberal hero!
