TDS Case Study: Project 2025 and the Draft

Trump Derangement Syndrome really short circuits reasoning skills. One particularly egregious case, which I have just encountered, involves Project 2025 and the draft.

Now, left wingers have been peddling a lot of fake news about Project 2025, and have been getting really hysterical over it, for a long time.

However, in this case, what strikes me as particularly deranged is that they provide a reference (which does not say what they claim) - and still double down on their madness (and mock those who disagree with them as being unconvinced by evidence).

Here is a post shared by The Other 98%:

"Project 2025 opens up the draft to all public school seniors for a 2 year commitment. Private school kids are exempted."

Let's ignore for starters the fact that as it is today, "Almost all male US citizens and male immigrants, who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service". As we know, the left don't care about men.

In the comments of the post, lots of left wingers claimed that the bit of Project 2025 that was proof of this claim was pages 102 and 103.

But here is what Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise actually says:

"Improve military recruiters’ access to secondary schools and require completion of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)—the military entrance examination—by all students in schools that receive federal funding."

Notice that there is nothing about the draft in here, much less a 2 year commitment.

"Schools that receive federal funding" is also not the same as "public schools", as private schools can receive federal funding.

Of course, facts don't matter when it gets in the way of the left wing agenda.
