Tresidder Memorial Union at Stanford University

"Even for a casual visitor just passing through Palo Alto, it's difficult not to feel the glowing presence of Stanford University. Like a whisper on the winds, constantly swirling, and tantalizing the curiosity, the university is ever present on the mental horizon...

It's no wonder that the inhabitants of Palo Alto and the surrounding areas are fiercely opinionated about and arc-welded to Stanford and its environs. Local residents hearken to Stanford as an integral part of their lives...

There is a saying that once on campus, "one never actually leaves Stanford." When one has a world-renowned university in his backyard who'd want to travel anywhere else?"

God, the last time I came across something so smug and pretentious was in RI when they appealed to the Rafflesian Spirit and Ethos and had a Junior Rafflesian Investiture Ceremony, and even then it wasn't so bad.

All this despite RI being 68 years older than Stanford, hurr hurr.
