Admiral Invalidator on X - "Anyone snitch tagging this proof of the man Lin Yu-Ting doing the illegal strike called a rabbit punch, illegal in all combat sports bc it can cause paralysis or death, is getting instantly blocked. You might as well work for the people who made this possible."

Meme - Julian Reichelt @jreichelt: "BREAKING NIUS: The birth certificate of #ImaneKhelif that declares her "female" was only issued in 2018, 19 years after she was born and exactly when Khelif's career as a "female" boxer began. The issue date reads: "2018/04/01". The official stamp also reads "2018". Khelif's father has shown the document publicly. #Paris2024  https://nius.de/sport/geburtsu"

Colin Wright on X - "Sure, there's always the remote possibility that Umar Kremlev, the president of @IBA_Boxing, is simply lying about the boxers' DNA tests. But why would he lie about something so easily debunkable? The "Russian disinformation" narrative sounds so far-fetched, as lying about this would only make the Russians look worse.   Of course, I'm always open to new evidence emerging and disproving my current beliefs. At the end of the day, none of us are going to see the actual lab tests directly. So we are forced to either believe of disbelieve any organization who claims to have tested their DNA and presented the results.  I see no good reason to believe the IBA would be lying about performing 2 DNA tests on the athletes, which led to their disqualification for not having XX chromosomes."
Markus T 🥷🎮 on X - "Reminder, disqualified AFTER the fact and the initial appeals were cancelled, by the fighters. Even they knew they wouldn't win the appeal."
Grandpa Jack Foster on X - "My understanding is that continuing the appeals would have made the test results public."
Markus T 🥷🎮 on X - "Which would have proven that it was "Russian disinformation". Otherwise, clearly something to hide"

Meme - "They keep saying Imane Khelif is a man, but I told them she can't be, she was born with a vagina"
"Exactly! Don't those bigots know what you're born with literally defines your sex"

LetaLeStrange on X - "Things that DON'T make someone male:
1. XY chromosomes
2. Testicles that manufacture sperm and testosterone
3. Adjusting your junk on international television
Things that make someone female:
1. A passport 2.
A pic from childhood where you're wearing pink
3. A grainy photo of a birth certificate that's only 5 years old
Have I pretty much got it?"

Carole Hooven on X - "Male and female are real and meaningful reproductive categories. This is not a zero-sum game where we must deny biological reality and alienate people who accept it, in order to support the needs of gender-diverse people. The opposite is true.   "None of this is happening in a vacuum. The fight over ensuring fairness in women’s sports has become a major flashpoint in national politics.  The same day Carini faced Khelif – Biden’s sweeping rewrite of Title IX guidelines took effect. The new rules change the definition of “sex” to include gender identity and would force all educational institutions that take federal money to allow for transgender athletes to choose the sports teams and locker rooms they wish.""

Olympic boxer controversy raises legitimate questions of fairness - "honest conversations and concerns over eligibility shouldn’t be thrown into the same category as “abuse.” Simply raising these questions is not hatred – it’s seeking a level playing field, which any athlete should understand is the ultimate goal.   The fact that male and female competitions are separate, and that “mixed” Olympic relays are evenly split between men and women, imply an explicit understanding that gender differences matter.  Fairness in sports also matters, that’s why so many rules exist. It’s also why performance-enhancing drugs of any kind are barred.   It gets more complicated when the “performance-enhancing” substances are intrinsic, but they’re no less important.   For instance, if Khelif and Lin have XY chromosomes, as the IBA seems to suggest, they are benefitting from more testosterone than other female athletes, and that’s a fairness problem. An IOC spokesman has said: “They are women on their passports. It’s not helpful to start stigmatizing like this.”  What matters is what their chromosomes say. Evolutionary biologist Carole Hooven, who recently left her teaching job at Harvard University after being lambasted for speaking the truth about human biology, has written about how some individuals can have XY chromosomes yet sex development differences can lead to them being “born with female-appearing genitalia.” But they are still male. I don’t know if that is the case with Khelif and Lin, but if it is, they could have an unfair biological advantage over other female athletes.  This is no fault of their own, and they should identify as they wish, but when it comes to competing at the highest levels, their chromosomes do matter... Kindness and acceptance are worthwhile goals. They shouldn’t, though, be used as an excuse to allow some athletes unfair advantages over others."

Visegrád 24 on X - "Algeria claims zionists are behind the row with boxer Imane Khelif who failed a sex test but was allowed at the Olympics. Yassine Arab, director of the Algerian Olympic Committee says: “The Zionist lobby want to break her mind (…) They don’t want Muslims being highly ranked"

Genevieve Gluck on X - ""My internal testicles... don't make me less of a woman." Caster Semenya was one of three males with a DSD who cheated women out of medals during the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Those who pointed this out were slammed as "racists," with a particular campaign of harassment against Lynsey Sharp, who teared up during an interview after she lost out on a bronze medal - due to the lack of sex verification testing by the IOC."

Dark Hegel™️ on X - "The blood work results were released for the boxers Khalid and Ting, and the physician reading the results stated that the results from the lab show “that these boxers are male.” To all those gaslighting us for the past week: here’s a big fat F U!!!"

Sulaiman Ahmed on X - "IN THE 2020 OLYMPICS IMANE KHELIF LOST TO IRISH BOXER KELLIE HARRINGTON IN THE QUARTER FINAL No one complained and said it’s a man and shouldn’t box. Why?"
People don't get upset at dopers if they lose. Clearly they are hypocrites and just hate successful sportsmen, and don't really care about doping

Thread by @jessesingal on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "I'm all for not auto-trusting an organization like the IBA (or the IOC for that matter!). But I'm trying to construct a scenario in which the IBA publicly lies that it conducted two separate chromosome tests on both athletes, publishes that lie, and alerts the IOC in June 2023. What would be the purpose of such an audacious, sprawling double-lie? I think you can simulatneously think the IBA is corrupt and that that doesn't automatically render invalid every position the org has ever taken. Also, in this scenario, neither athlete appeals or makes any attempt to reestablish eligibility under the IBA standard. If they are in fact eligible this would be a pretty easy thing to prove, even for an athlete of limited means, especially if they raised a ruckus about it. Sorry I think one of them appealed but then dropped it, so "neither athlete appeals" isn't right. But neither fully went through with an appeal."

Meme - Jesse Singal @jessesingal: "Pretty remarkable stuff by the AP
'Overcome with emotion, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif left the ring in tears after a resounding victory this weekend. Khelif has faced days of hateful comments and false accusations about her gender following her first fight against an Italian opponent who quit seconds into their bout.  “It’s because she’s African, because she’s Algerian,” 38-year-old Algerian fan Adel Mohammed said Saturday, when Khelif clinched an Olympic medal. “These comments are coming from white people … it’s a kind of racism.”  Female athletes of color have historically faced disproportionate scrutiny and discrimination when it comes to sex testing and false accusations that they are male or transgender, historians and anthropologists say. Khelif and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-Ting, who won her bout Sunday after similar abuse and questions about her gender, are the latest examples of women of color who have found themselves caught in the contentious debate around gender regulations and perceptions in sports.'
There is always an adjunct medical anthropologist available to provide expert insight into these questions
'“Nobody was disqualifying Michael Phelps for having particular biological features that allowed him to excel in swimming,” said medical anthropologist Danyal Kade Doyle Griffiths, an adjunct professor with the City University of New York.'
Just... no. Factually, no. The IBA specifically said the test was *not* about elevated T levels. This AP reporter had time to interview a number of humanities "gender" "experts," but not to familiarize herself with the basic facts of the case.
'In Khelif’s case, the banned International Boxing Association disqualified her from the 2023 world championships after it claimed that she failed unspecified eligibility tests for the women’s boxing competition, citing elevated levels of testosterone. The Russian-dominated body — which has faced years of clashes with the International Olympic Committee — has refused to provide any information about the tests.'
One of the most consistent features of botched science stories involving hot-button subjects are that the journalists have no science reporting background to speak of, but instead cover "race," "identity," etc. Which are important beats! But don't qualify you to cover science."
Clearly, this has nothing to do with testing to discover disorders of sexual development being standard in rich countries but rare or non-existent in poor ones. It must be racism.

Olympics viewers convinced Turkey sent a 'hitman' to compete in Paris - "Turkey’s Yusuf Dikec has been dubbed a ‘hitman’ by Olympics viewers after his cool and calm performance in the air pistol shooting. The 51-year-old is competing at his fifth Olympics, having previously participated in Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo in 2021... Dikec stood out from the rest of his competitors with his minimalist equipment. Typically, pistol shooters compete wearing specialist eyewear to help improve accuracy and huge protectors in order to block out any distractions. But Dikec, a retired non-commissioned officer in Turkey’s gendarmerie, turned up to the event with a pair of regular prescription glasses and a standard pair of earplugs."

Paris Olympics Say The Last Supper Inspired Opening Ceremony - "A Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony scene reminiscent of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” continued to stir controversy Sunday as Paris 2024 producers and the ceremony’s designer Thomas Jolly released separate, apparently opposing statements on where it drew its inspiration... “For the ‘Festivities’ segment, Thomas Jolly took inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting to create the setting,” producers said in the statement. “Clearly, there was never an intention to show disrespect towards any religious group or belief … [Jolly] is not the first artist to make a reference to what is a world-famous work of art. From Andy Warhol to ‘The Simpsons,’ many have done it before him.”"
The organisers didn't get the memo that it wasn't The Last Supper
Clearly, context doesn't matter, so if you're okay with someone waving your country's flag but not using it to wipe his ass, you're a hypocrite, because they both involve the same flag

Meme - "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE CHRISTIAN TO BE DISTURBED BY A DRAG SHOW WITH KIDS, DARK SYMBOLISM, AND SOMEONE'S BALLS HANGING OUT AT A SPORTING EVENT"

Meme - Joseph Guillermo: "As a teacher of ancient philosophy and philosophy of art, the apologetics by the Paris Olympics that arranging their performers along the composition of Da Vinci's "Last Supper" is actually a homage to "Bacchal Banquet" is such a weak rationalization that grasp at straws. Aside from the arrangement being evocative of the more popular Last Supper of Jesus, which I think is what triggers people, I have to point out that the choices are nowhere near other Bacchial-themed paintings like that of Caravaggio, Titian, or Velázquez. Heck, the blue choice for Bacchus is weird because he is usually dark-skinned in the ancient Greek imagination, and the usual iconography of gods with blue complexions is usually evocative of Dharmic traditions that portray Rama or Krishna to represent their tranquil disposition. As such, the apologetics feel like a poorly thought-out PR statement that people with little knowledge of art and ancient Greco-Roman history might accept uncritically.  Moreover, this interpretation is odd because Bacchus, the Latin version of Dionysus, was never celebrated in the Ancient Olympics. The Olympic festival was an event that celebrated physical excellence and the rational control of the body's energy. As the name "Olympics" suggests, it honored Zeus, the god of Olympus, and in some sources, his son Heracles, known for his physical excellence during his twelve labors. In contrast, Dionysus is the god of harvest, intoxication, and ecstasy. His celebrations were so rambunctious that even pagans reported other pagans celebrating them secretly outside the city walls and in the shadows of the forest because they were too scandalous for the conservative Romans. Bacchus is the mad and raging one and the only physical feat he is known for is how he tears animals and even people into pieces for amusement, only to resurrect them and repeat the process. His thiasus of maenads were infamous for their orgies of dismemberment and feasting on raw meat, which horrified even other pagan contemporaries. Bacchus is such an awkward choice, especially when you look at how he was never mentioned in the official website of the Olympics' myth: https://olympics.com/ioc/ancient-olympic-games/mythology. Heck, the list they provided is what I expected would be the pagans gods they could have made homage to: Apollo, the god of health and archery; Hera, the goddess of oaths and monogamous marriage; Athena, the goddess of wisdom and controlled spiritedness; and Zeus, the protector of the family. Unless, of course, the intention is to communicate that the gay and trans community embodies these irrational, uncontrollable traits of tearing up animals and people for amusement, which would be a bizarre and disturbing message to be proud of, especially in the context of the Olympics."

French Bishops lament 'scenes mocking Christianity' at Olympic Ceremony - "Following the globally broadcast ceremony, many leaders of other religious denominations expressed their solidarity with the French Catholic Church... In response to requests for explanations, Michaël Aloïsio, spokesperson for the Paris 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee, responded on Saturday, July 27, on Franceinfo: "We stand by our decision to push boundaries.""

Meme - Collin Rugg @CollinRugg: "NEW: The Paris Olympics is under fire for including a *child* in their hyper-s*xualized, blasphemous rendition of The Last Supper.  An apparent child could be seen joining the drag queens during the performance.  Instead of bringing people together, the planners of the event apparently wanted to mock the religion of 2.4 billion people."

Iranian spiritual leader condemns insult to Christ at Paris Olympics opening ceremony - "Iran's spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei asserted that Jesus Christ is undoubtedly respected by all Muslims and the Islamic Republic resolutely condemns any insults directed at him."
Why don't they Trust the Experts that this wasn't the Last Supper? Since it was Islamophobic (as Muslims recognise Jesus as a Prophet) does this change things?

Devon Eriksen on X - "This, and Disney Star Wars, and all of modern Hollywood, and all of Manhattan tradpub, can be explained with one simple idea.  And no, it isn't "Satan". No religious suppositions are required. What's going on here is venial, and even more depraved.   Narcissism.   You see, there are two kinds of artistic creativity. Both are based on egotism, but one is healthy, and the other is destructive.
The first says "Art is about beauty and truth. I will create that which is beautiful and true, that which uplifts those who look upon it. And my ego will be satisfied when my work is acknowledged as good, both by myself and others."  This is based on a healthy version of egotism... pride.   Pride is self-respect, a sense of one's own proper dignity or value, as earned through merit, virtue, and accomplishment.
The second says "Art is about self-expression. I will create art based on whatever is in myself, no matter how ugly, deceptive, and low. I will make myself visible in every aspect of my art, and my ego will satisfied, because I will be the center of attention, with everyone looking at me."   This is based on the sick version of egotism... narcissism. It is the ego that demands to be the center of attention, regardless of what others actually wish to see or would like to pay attention to.   It is the revenge of the neglected child, not on the mother who ignored him, but on the entire universe.
Great art is not about self-expression. It comes from the self, it is shaped by the self, but it the truth it expresses is shared and universal. This is why it speaks to others, not just the artist.   When we look upon a fine sculpture, we see only David, not Michelangelo.   When we read a great story, we do not see Tolkien, and we forget, for a moment, that Frodo and Sam aren't real.   We can say Van Gogh painted one white iris because he was lonely, isolated within a crowd, but if we do say that, we care because we have been lonely, too.
Great art makes the artist invisible. He waits backstage until the art is done, and it is time for him to step out and take a bow, receive his applause and be satisfied in a work well done. He does not stand between the audience and their enjoyment of the work.   But, for this precise reason, great art cannot emerge from narcissism. The narcissist cannot bear to upstaged by anything, even the work of his own hands, the child of his own brain.   The narcissistic artist creates art not to please others, but to force others to look at him. He must stamp his personality on every corner of the work, make it his and his alone, and remind the audience, in every moment, in every place they direct their gaze, that this work is his, and that he is what truly matters, here.   This art, shown here, is not ugly by accident. It is ugly because the artists wish you to look upon their ugliness, both outer and inner.   It is ugly because its message is not "look at this" but "look at me".
This is why the left is obsessed with "representation" in art. This is why they cover themselves in ugly, mismatched tattoos, and dye their hair pink, purple, and blue. This is why they write self-indulgent stories about "identity" and "finding your squad".   They are screaming their identity at the void, never realizing that it's not only possible, but easy, to be unique without being interesting or useful.   Those who fancy themselves to be beautiful unique snowflakes would do well to remember that the slightest touch of heat will turn them into homogeneous, ubiquitous, undifferentiated water.   They can work for Disney all they want, making black lesbian Jedi so that "the character can look just like me", but the character will be boring because they are boring.
In other words, what we are seeing here is not a rebellion against god (if you are religious) or civilization and merit (if you aren't), it's something far worse.   It's the petty, ugly, banalities of an entire subculture of tiresome neurotics who cannot dredge one single beautiful, interesting, or true thing out of their souls that would make you voluntarily pay attention.   I blame their mothers."

Six Christians arrested in Paris for driving around in bus marked "Stop attacks on Christians" - "These Christians spent the night in jail for driving a bus with an anti-anti-Christian message on it. Let that sink in for a minute.  You're not allowed to spread messages telling people to stop the mockery of Christianity, though if your message mocks Christianity you're just fine and it'll be televised globally for everyone to see."

Olympic gymnastics: Romanians appeal score after inquiry drama at floor final - "The Romanian Olympic Committee says it has appealed Sabrina Maneca-Voinea’s score from the floor exercise final at the Paris Games after a last-minute inquiry on behalf of American rival Jordan Chiles prompted heartbreak and rage from the former gymnastics powerhouse... Maneca-Voinea was given a 0.1 deduction for stepping out of bounds during her routine, but replays showed she narrowly kept her heel inbounds during the moment in question. The Romanian Olympic Committee said its president, Mihai Covaliu, wrote a letter of protest to the International Gymnastics Federation asking it to reconsider Maneca-Voinea’s score, saying an initial challenge was rejected...   “Aware of the negative impact on Ana Maria Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation aims to correct the mistakes made by the judges and to restore the rights of our athletes,” the federation said.  The results of the floor exercise have caused an uproar in Romania.  Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said Tuesday he will boycott the closing ceremony because of the “scandalous situation.” Ciolacu promised Romania would honor Barbosu and Maneca-Voinea as Olympic medalists, “including in terms of the prizes.”"
