Links - 7th February 2024 (1 - Hamas Attack Oct 2023: UNRWA)

Hillel Neuer on X - "Q: Given the UN's big role in Gaza, UNRWA, has there ever been any indication to the UN that tunnels are being built under the city?
UN: Not to us. I mean... it seems to me that all this infrastructure was built in a highly secretive way. I mean, I see it just as an observer... To think that the UN had any understanding of what was… any information about those operations, I think, is... No is clearly the answer to that."
Hillel Neuer on X - "The UN has 13,000 staff in Gaza. None of them ever saw or heard anything as Hamas drilled 350 miles of terror tunnels beneath their homes, along with 5,700 tunnel openings. The London Tube is 250 miles."

Hillel Neuer on X- "Five days ago, we exposed a Telegram group of 3,000 UNRWA teachers in Gaza replete with praise of the Hamas massacre of October 7th. UNRWA cast doubt that they work for them. The UN spox disparaged us. This 🧵 will show how the group admins and members are indeed part of UNRWA."

UNRWA fact-checked after calling report about hostage 'unsubstantiated' - "UNRWA claimed that a report that a teacher working for the agency held an Israeli civilian hostage in the Gaza Strip was "unsubstantiated" on Friday, with community notes on X responding by listing several incidents in which UNRWA teachers were linked to or expressed support for terrorist groups... Channel 13 reporter Almog Boker posted on X (formerly Twitter) that a released hostage had told him that a teacher associated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East had held him in his attic, barely provided him with food, and neglected his medical needs... the UN agency responded that "spreading unsubstantiated claims about UNRWA must stop immediately."... readers wrote "claims against UNRWA have been documented for a long time," adding a list of links to incidents of its staff being linked to or supporting terrorist organizations.  The list included a case in which a headmaster of an UNRWA school was found to be building rockets for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, and a recent report by UN Watch showing how agency teachers celebrated the massacre committed by Hamas on October 7... the IDF said it had found dozens of rockets hidden under boxes marked with UNRWA's insignia in northern Gaza.  The UN agency has also admitted that it has found tunnels under its schools and rockets inside its schools on multiple occasions."

UNRWA School: Students at School Run by UNRWA Boast about Wanting to Murder Jews - "Students at a school in East Jerusalem run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) were recorded in a recently resurfaced video explaining how they’ve been taught to murder Jews and take part in the generational struggle to reclaim land which they believe belongs to Palestinians. The documentary was shot in 2022 in a school in the Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem and recently resurfaced amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. In the video, students who appear to be as young as seven or eight years old tell an interviewer “we have been taught that the Jews kill our children.” “Stabbing and trampling Jews brings respect to the Palestinians,” says another child. Another student explains that she is “ready to carry out a suicide attack.”... “The textbooks of UNRWA students in the Shuafat refugee camp feature pictures of murderers who committed terrorist acts and killed many Israelis, as a sign of praise and as a role model,” Bedein told Ynet. Earlier in the video, adults living in the Shuafat refugee camp explain that they will never leave the camp because to do so would be to abandon their “right to return” to the formerly Arab villages their ancestors lived in generations ago."

Hillel Neuer on X - "Dear Commissioner-General Lazzarini: We are hereby calling on you to resign immediately as the head of UNRWA. We note the following:
1. We officially and with detailed evidence informed you again and again about terrorism supporters at UNRWA. You did nothing.
2. On the contrary, you defamed us, telling donor states to “shield” UNRWA from “political attacks that seek to undermine its legitimacy as a way to erode the rights of Palestine refugees.”
3. When we exposed 113 UNRWA teachers who support terrorism, you didn't fire a single one. Instead, your response was to defame us as “an organization with a deep history of unfounded and politically-driven assertions against the Agency.”
4. You then defamed us before the UN General Assembly, stating that UNRWA faced “intense politically motivated attacks” which “sought to question its mandate, its relevance and the integrity of its staff” through “attacks on the quality of the education that Palestine refugee children receive.”
5. When we exposed 3,000 UNRWA teachers in a Telegram group that celebrated the Hamas massacre of October 7th, your response was to accuse us of a “smear campaign.”
Mr. Lazzarini, you knew about terrorism supporters throughout UNRWA, but you refused to take action or even ask us for the detailed evidence.  Now that terrorism by UNRWA staff has caused many of your top donors to freeze their funds—including the US, Germany, Canada, Australia, Italy, Finland, Netherlands and Switzerland—you must take responsibility.  This Tuesday at the Joint Hearing of the United States Congress, I will be addressing the dangerous harm caused by UNRWA itself.  But at this current moment, you must draw the appropriate conclusions. We are calling on you to resign immediately."

Melissa Chen on X - "There was no way the Gaza tunnels could have been built without some degree of “cooperation" from NGOs, especially the UNRWA, as the lead NGO for humanitarian relief in Gaza.  At the very least, aid workers would’ve seen a lot of subterranean construction going on, and in the best case scenario, were wholly uncurious about the project.  Many countries have cut funding to the UNRWA because its “educational" materials were rife with antisemitism, its teachers were openly engaging in antisemitism online and at least 100 UNRWA "grads" were among the October 7th invaders.  Not surprising, when you consider the glee and ecstasy on the streets of Gaza when corpses of the Nova music festival go-ers were paraded through immediately following the Oct 7th attack.  What’s clear is that the UNWRA, the chief humanitarian org in Gaza and one that carries the imprimatur of the United Nations, is in reality a vehicle for facilitating Hamas's human shield program and a propaganda outlet for brainwashing Palestinian children with unadulterated hatred.  Now, it’s found to be directly staffing combat operations.   The time for the UNRWA to be stripped of its charter was yesterday.   As bad as that would be for Palestinians, it strikes me that aid centers run by someone other than the UNWRA must be set up on the periphery and the people of Gaza must be made to evacuate to them.  A humanitarian organization for the well-being of Gazan refugees was instead helping to engage them in human shield warfare and sabotage their lives.  It’s as if we had a World Health Organization - tasked to prevent pandemics, coordinate pandemic response and investigate pandemic origins - fail to do its job and even aided in the coverup.  Oh wait. We did have that.   It’s not just that so many of our supranational institutions are corrupt; what’s striking is that so many are doing the exact opposite of what their stated purpose / telos is, despite lavish funding from Western tax payer dollars.   We are funding and thereby aiding and abetting the clown world we all find ourselves in now."

The Mossad: Satirical, Yet Awesome on X - "Uh oh. Trouble in paradise.  Hamas statement on UNRWA:  "We strongly condemn the dismissal of UNRWA workers based on claims of the occupation.  We condemn the words of the head of UNRWA who called the "resistance" by the term "terrorism".  UNRWA's call for the release of the prisoners imprisoned in Gaza is political intervention on the part of UNRWA in a matter that is has no relation to.  We demand that UNRWA retract the dismissal of the workers.  We demand that UNRWA resume and fulfill its role immediately in all parts of the Gaza Strip.""

Aviva Klompas on X - "Palestinian children in UNRWA schools:
➡️ "We have to make war"
➡️ "The Zionists are our enemy"
➡️ "Jews are terrorists"
➡️ "I am ready to stab a Jew"
➡️ "Stabbing and running over Jews brings dignity to the Palestinians"
UNRWA: We are utterly neutral 🙄"

Intelligence Reveals Details of U.N. Agency Staff’s Links to Oct. 7 Attack - WSJ - "At least 12 employees of the U.N.’s Palestinian refugee agency had connections to Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel and around 10% of all of its Gaza staff have ties to Islamist militant groups, according to intelligence reports... Six United Nations Relief and Works Agency workers were part of the wave of Palestinian militants who killed 1,200 people in the deadliest assault on Jews since the Holocaust, according to the intelligence dossier. Two helped kidnap Israelis. Two others were tracked to sites where scores of Israeli civilians were shot and killed. Others coordinated logistics for the assault, including procuring weapons. Of the 12 Unrwa employees with links to the attacks, seven were primary or secondary school teachers, including two math teachers, two Arabic language teachers and one primary school teacher. The information in the intelligence reports—based on what an official described as very sensitive signals intelligence as well as cellphone tracking data, interrogations of captured Hamas fighters and documents recovered from dead militants, among other things—were part of a briefing given by Israel to U.S. officials that led Washington and others to suspend aid to Unrwa. Intelligence estimates shared with the U.S. conclude that around 1,200 of Unrwa’s roughly 12,000 employees in Gaza have links to Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and about half have close relatives who belong to the Islamist militant groups. Both groups have been designated as terrorist organizations by the U.S. and others. Hamas has run Gaza since a 2007 coup. “Unrwa’s problem is not just ‘a few bad apples’ involved in the October 7 massacre,” said a senior Israeli government official. “The institution as a whole is a haven for Hamas’ radical ideology.”... 23% of Unrwa’s male employees had ties to Hamas, a higher percentage than the average of 15% for adult males in Gaza, indicating a higher politicization of the agency than the population at large... The Trump administration suspended funding for Unrwa in 2018, saying the agency’s mission was fundamentally misguided. The Biden administration renewed funding in 2021. The Oct. 7 intelligence reports seen by the Journal identified an Unrwa Arabic teacher who the reports said was also a Hamas militant commander and took part in a terrorist attack on Kibbutz Be’eri, where 97 people were killed and about 26 people were kidnapped and taken as hostages to Gaza. Another Unrwa employee, described in the dossier as an Unrwa social worker, played a role in absconding with the body of a dead Israeli soldier, which was taken to Gaza, the reports said. He also coordinated trucks and munitions distributions for Hamas before being killed... Israel says it has documented deepening ties between Unrwa and Hamas since the militant group cemented its hold on Gaza in 2007. Unrwa has admitted to finding Hamas weapons stored in schools and Israel has repeatedly said Hamas tunnels run under and through Unrwa buildings as well as other civilian facilities. The former head of Unrwa’s union in Gaza was fired in 2017 after Israel found out he had been elected to Hamas’ top political leadership... A math teacher belonging to Hamas was close enough to a female hostage in Gaza that he took a picture of her. Another teacher was carrying an antitank missile the night before the invasion. One Unrwa employee set up an operations room for Palestinian Islamic Jihad on Oct. 8, the day after the attack. Three other employees, including another Arabic teacher at an Unrwa school, received a text from Hamas to arm themselves at a staging area close to the border the night before the attack. It was unclear whether they went. A different elementary school teacher did cross into Israel and went to Reim, a district where a kibbutz, an army base and a music festival were attacked. One of the intelligence reports seen by the Journal said a 13th Unrwa employee, who didn’t have a discernible affiliation with a terror group, also entered Israel. Hundreds of Gazan civilians flooded across the border as part of the Hamas-led attack, Israel says. Teachers make up nearly three-quarters of Unrwa’s Gaza-based local staff. Unrwa schools, which use textbooks approved by the Palestinian Authority, have come under fire for using materials that allegedly glorify terrorists and promote hatred of Israel. Unrwa says it has taken steps to address problematic content, but a 2019 U.S. Government Accountability Office report said that measures haven’t always been implemented. Since Oct. 7, Hamas has stolen more than $1 million worth of Unrwa supplies, including fuel and trucks, according to the intelligence report. The intelligence assessment alleges that Hamas operatives are so deeply enmeshed within the Unrwa aid-delivery enterprise as to coordinate transfers for the organization."

lelemSLP on X - "Your news don't tell you yet, but I will. You heard lies about Israel for decades.  Israel does not occupy Gaza from 2005. You want us to "Free Palestine" and then the wars will stop? We freed Palestine in Gaza, 19 years ago.  The only reason you think that it's still occupied is because UN told you so.  UN, United Nations, who you considered to be neutral international organization. @HillelNeuer  (who should definitely receive Nobel Peace Prize) was warning UN for many years. Warning about education to terror that UNRWA was inciting in Gaza. UNRWA schools raised generations of terrorist, kids were brainwashed from early childhood that their only life purpose is to kill Jews and to occupy Israel.  Is it surprising that's what they do when they grow up? All the terror attacks, all the rockets launching, all the wars that they started during these years, and culminating in barbaric October 7 massacre performed with Nazi-like cruelty and efficiency, murdering 1200 innocent people in one day, including babies, children, women, elderly and their caregivers, chasing innocent people with the goal to murder as many as possible, burning families alive, cutting children to pieces, raping, kidnapping 240 people including babies and toddlers, all this is the result of education that generations of these terrorists received. Received by UNRWA.  Why did UN not only ignore the requests of @HillelNeuer  to check the serious issues that he raised during the years, but even attacked him for raising these questions?  Didn't they care that such education to terror results in actual terror?  Well, it's not that they didn't care. They cared and that was exactly their plan.  UN and Radical Islamic regimes designed this whole scheme. It was a win-win situation for them. Radical Islamic Oppression Colonization Regimes (that Hamas are proxies of) want to murder all Jews and occupy Israel (and then destroy all West). UN was getting lots of money from all over the world, labeled as donations to Palestinians. The whole money and Jew-hating scheme worked perfectly as long as the wars kept going. Peace would have ruined the scheme.  And the best part of the scheme - the victims are Jews, Israelis. It would never have worked if the victims were any other nation. They couldn't have murdered people of any other nation and then blame the victim. But it worked with Jews. The world has thousands years of experience in scapegoating the Jews and blaming them for everything.  That's why you believed so easily when they said we are occupying Gaza. And in your brain Palestinians became the victims and Israelis became the aggressors.  Please, when you know the truth now : Demand Hamas to surrender and to release all the hostages now! Let's stop the madness and start thinking about peace. Without UN and without Hamas.  #DefundUNRWA #DefundTheUN #BringThemHomeNow"

A UN agency in Gaza is in crisis. Palestinians may pay the price : worldevents - "In its 70 years of existence, UNRWA has permanently resettled a whopping grand total of 0 refugees, despite billions in funding.  It has aggravated the conflict by having a major crossover of Hamas members and supporters in its ranks, has directly funded radicalized education, has sheltered weapons and tunnels in its buildings, has changed the laws about what constitutes a refugee, and has continued to push the idea that the Palestinians need to be resettled in Israel, leading to a never ending refugee crisis. This has been documented for years and only now is getting the major international attention it deserves.  It is very much a good thing that UNRWA is having its funding cut. The entire thing is rotten to the core systemically, has accomplished nothing to actually end the situation, and something else needs to take its place."

Mor Hogeg on X - "The Palestinian refugee status is deceptive and rooted in decades of distortion of basic facts.
1. According to the @UNRWA's website, a Palestinian refugee is defined as a "person whose normal place of residence was Palestine during the period from 1 June 1946 to 15 May 1948, and who lost both home and means of livelihood due to the 1948 conflict." This is the basic @UN definition.
2. By September 1948, a @UN report stated that there were 360,000 Palestinian refugees.
3. Shockingly, as of 2024, UNRWA serves a staggering 5.9 MILLION Palestine refugees.
4. This dramatic increase can be attributed to UNRWA's distorted definition of a Palestine refugee, which adds to the basic UN definition "the descendants of Palestine refugee males, including adopted children."
5. The hereditary nature of the refugee status is unprecedented and unparalleled, as there are no other instances where refugees automatically transfer their status to their descendants.
6. Furthermore, a Palestinian refugee maintains its status even after he acquires a new citizenship, and UNRWA considers those who were internally displaced (for example, moved from Gaza to the West Bank) as refugees - in contrast with UNHCR's policy.
7. Note that while UNHCR is another UN refugee agency responsible for handling all refugees globally, Palestinian refugees have their own agency, UNRWA.
8. In conclusion, UNRWA's policies are one of the key contributing factors to the Palestinian refugee problem.
9. Additionally, recent events have revealed UNRWA's undeniable involvement in terrorist activities against Israeli civilians and hostages. Its cooperation with #HamasTerrorists is an obvious and unquestionable reason to #DefundUNRWA."

Olia on X - "I was a political refugee in 1989. I got US citizenship in 1996.   As a refugee, I lost my Soviet citizenship, and most of my possessions, as we were allowed to leave with only 2 suitcases and $100 per person. I didn’t get any aid once I got to the US. In fact, I had to pay back for the air flight from Italy to the US.   If @UNRWA  rules applied to me, not only I would still be considered a refugee entitled to all kinds of benefits, but my children born in the US and their future children would still be refugees.    It’s insane that the world accepts it and gives financial aid to multiple generations of “refugees” all over the world."
AG on X - "No one would ever think to label the children Jews expelled from Arab countries post-48 as refugees, much less offer them aid and suggest they have the right to land from where they left. These rules apply exclusively to one group."
Olia on X - "Great point. Also, survivors of the Holocaust lost everything - families, possessions - but nobody called them refugees once they left Europe."

Israel-Hamas war: UNRWA may be forced to end lifesaving aid due to funding suspension, official says - "The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has fired 12 aid workers accused of involvement in the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel, and has launched an investigation. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said yesterday that he was "horrified" by the allegations and that those found to have been involved would be referred for potential criminal prosecution. Germany, Australia, Finland, Italy and the U.K. joined the U.S. and Canada today in suspending funding to the agency"
