Links - 29th February 2024 (2 - Hamas Attack Oct 2023)

Hezbollah says Israel will 'pay price' after deadly day - ""The enemy will pay the price for these crimes," Hezbollah politician Hassan Fadlallah told Reuters, saying Hezbollah had a "legitimate right to defend its people"... Israel said Wednesday it was responding to rocket fire from Lebanon that killed one of its soldiers and wounded eight others in Safed, about 15 km (10 miles), from the border... Hezbollah has been waging near daily attacks on Israeli targets at the border since its Palestinian ally Hamas stormed Israel from Gaza on Oct. 7, killing 1,200 people and abducting some 250, according to Israeli tallies."
Given how terrorism supporters always mention what Israel does but never mention what the Arabs did to provoke it, it's clear they believe Jews have no right to self defense.

Terry Glavin: The despicable untruths behind Selina Robinson's political lynching - "an elaborate act of vandalism at Robinson’s offices by an “antifa” group that NDP cool kid Avi Lewis publicly encouraged journalists to ignore, via Twitter, because it makes his “anti-Zionist” side look bad: “Journos,” Lewis tweeted, “I know you can’t help yourselves, but please don’t fall for this.” The problem here is that what too many journalists have fallen for is the “anti-Zionist” alibi that Robinson said something “racist” during that Jan. 30 B’nai Brith Zoom call. She didn’t. This is what Robinson said: “We have a whole generation of 18- to 34-year-olds that have no idea about the Holocaust, they don’t even think it happened. They don’t understand that Israel was offered to the Jews who were displaced. So they have no connection to how it started. They don’t understand that it was a crappy piece of land with nothing on it. There were several hundred thousand people, but other than that it didn’t produce an economy; it couldn’t grow things, it didn’t have anything on it.” Roughly half the land set aside for Jewish refugees in the United Nations’ 1949 partition was the Negev Desert. According to accounts from the British Mandate for Palestine in 1941, it was only British swamp-draining efforts in the other half that made vast tracts of present-day Israel habitable, from “areas where intense endemic malaria had resulted in no population for generations.” Some of the most fertile land had only recently been reclaimed “after centuries of waste.” There isn’t anything controversial about this history. It is fact. It is not racist, Robinson was not racist for saying so, and the nine rabbis of the Rabbinical Association of Vancouver were quite right to tell Eby that in ditching Robinson he had capitulated to “a small but loud group of people,” that he had “given in to bullies for political expediency,” and that his capitulation would be remembered, the next time Eby came calling for support."

Federal funding supported academic conference with speakers who celebrated Hamas attack - "The “Mediations of Racial Capitalism Conference” is a three-part lecture series aimed at highlighting “the constitutively racial character of capitalism in its complex intersections with structures of settler colonialism, anti-Blackness, heteropatriarchy, and empire,” according to a website promoting the event. On Feb. 9, it featured at least four academics who have published controversial statements on social media about the Israel-Hamas war. “It is deeply concerning that government funds are being used to give a platform to speakers who openly support terrorist organizations and their terror attacks,” said Richard Marceau, the vice-president of external affairs and general counsel for the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), in a statement... Risam clarified why Hamas’s massacre of over 1,000 Israelis was legitimate in early December. “That rapid decline of my follower count tells me that academics love decolonization in theory but aren’t here for it in practice.”... Kareem Estefan, the director of art history at Christ’s College in the U.K., applauded Houthi rebels in Yemen for attacking international shipping containers in the Red Sea. Just four days after the Hamas onslaught, Estefan denounced claims that it was the worst atrocity committed against Jews since the Holocaust as “dangerous” and drew a “false comparison.” In February 2023, the Canadian government pledged to revamp its vetting process for federal funds after Laith Marouf, an anti-racism specialist, was paid over $100,000 and found to have made several antisemitic posts online. Despite those assurances, f unding for the conference came from federal sources, including Canada Research Chairs (CRC) as well as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). “After the Laith Marouf scandal, the Government of Canada promised that funding would never again be used to platform hate and there would be increased scrutiny on funding recipients. These changes were supposed to be implemented across all federal government bodies, not only Canadian Heritage’s funding programs,” Marceau said."

Cori Bush on X - "As a survivor of rape, AIPAC’s tactic of exploiting rape is outright vile and appalling. Their playbook relies on bullying, lying, harassing, belittling & intimidation to try to manipulate the public & force those calling for a ceasefire into submission. It won’t stop us."
Wilfred Reilly on X - "The idea that the real.problem with Hamas' mass rapes is "the Jews exploiting them" feels like a new low."
Of course, this doesn't stop feminists inventing rapes to push their agenda by bullying, lying, harassing, belittling & intimidation

David Collier on X - "Another terrorist attack in Israel.  Civilians targeted. One dead, and a pregnant woman severely injured.  Meanwhile calls for Israel to surrender (immediate ceasefire) are debated by British politicians.  Of course the children of these MPs weren't kidnapped or raped by Hamas."

Chaos erupts as UK parliament votes on Gaza ceasefire - "The uproar followed a decision by Hoyle to ignore precedent and allow a vote that helped the opposition Labour Party – which is tipped to win a national election later this year – avoid a large-scale rebellion among its own lawmakers over its position on Israel’s war on Gaza."

Channel 4 News on X - "“I don’t want another [terrorist] attack on this house” Speaker of the House Lindsay Hoyle announces there will be an emergency debate on Gaza and apologises for the part he played in the chaos yesterday, but says he was acting with the safety of MPs in mind."
Stephen Knight 🎙️ on X - "We now find ourselves in the entirely foreseeable position of having to do politics in a way that suits violent, Islamist extremists.   It didn't have to come to this. It could have been prevented. But we adopted a strategy of bending over backwards to avoid offending anyone and attempted to destroy every single person that dared to notice the problem."

leekern on X - "Check out this shit:  The British Parliament shivering and twitching anxiously because they were scared of some Islamists chanting at them…  …passing a motion telling off Israel because they’re fighting Islamists who actually raped, tortured, murdered and kidnapped people - and who have machine guns and thousands of rockets  British politicians are telling off Israel for fighting Islamists they themselves are also scared of  How pathetic and servile and craven and beaten and cowardly are our politicians when it comes to Islamism and jihad…"

Meme - "NoooOoo! How dare musicians talk about music at the music event! They should be my political propaganda mouthpieces instead! NoooOoo!!"
quinnfebrey: "annie lennox calling for a ceasefire during the grammys but being completely overshadowed by taylor swift announcing the release of some new songs is like an onion headline except it actually happened"
The left insist in shoving politics into everything

Khaled Hassan on X - "We would have a ceasefire in hours if:
- Qatar informed Hamas that they would be expelled from Qatar if the hostages were not unconditionally released.
- Egypt informed Hamas that no aid will go through if the hostages were not unconditionally released.
- UAE and Saudi Arabia informed Hamas and the Palestinian Authority no financial support if the hostages were not unconditionally released.
The US can pressure the above countries to do exactly that. It won't be easy, but is 100% doable. Instead, they choose to pick on Israel and let the terror-sponsoring Qataris get away with it, meet with them, and express their "gratitude". We're led by spineless imbeciles!"

Meme - "Palestinian supporters step on a puppy wrapped in the Israeli flag. They also attach a zip tie and string around the young puppy's neck to the Palestinian flag as they smile and laugh.
Ayman Mokdad"

Richard Hanania on X - "Israel offers to not conduct a ground invasion of Rafah if the Palestinians release all hostages by Ramadan.  One again, I am just in awe of the humanity of the Israelis. They have always shown respect for Islam, even though it has rarely been returned. Here is an opportunity for Hamas to show that it cares about the Palestinian people. Here’s a chance for the Palestinian people themselves to turn on their oppressors, and pressure them to make peace.  Unfortunately, none of this will happen. Despite this gesture, Palestinians have shown time and time again that they hate Jews more than they love their children. Practically all Palestinians either think like this, or at least are sympathetic enough towards this view to give it passive acceptance.  Why does Israel make this offer then? It does the world a favor by showing once again what the moral stakes are. Perhaps it hopes by some miracle the Palestinians will show for once that they value something in this world other than killing Jews.   The odds are long, but Judaism must remain a faith of humanity and hope."

Qatar criticises Israel's Netanyahu over pressure on Hamas to release hostages
Given that they support terrorism, this is not surprising

Thread by @mishtal on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App - "The @washingtonpost ran an article about the journalists killed during the Hamas conflict.  My own research suggests whoever put it together engaged in deception  The end result is that the WP lies to its readers and spread raw Hamas propaganda... 50% of those in the CPJ list worked for Hamas or Islamic Jihad. Some even put out a 'call to arms' on the morning of Oct 7.  The WP missed them all.  How did the WP randomly select seven journos to profile and avoid all those who work for terrorist groups? It gets worse.  79% of the Gazan 'journos' used their social media to praise terrorists and celebrate the murder of innocent Jews.  The WP avoided every single one of those too. This is beyond all reasonable statistical probability. About 20% of the 'journos' didn't work in Journalism and some had obvious ties to key terrorist targets. For example Ahmed Shehab was killed alongside his uncle who was Islamic Jihad royalty.  The WP somehow avoided all these dubious choices too.  We can therefore dismiss the possibility that the seven perfect profiles were chosen at random.  Someone carefully selected which ones to profile and must have found and needed to ignore many unsuitable candidates because of their ties to terrorism or visible extremism. The Washington Post article does not mention many of the journalists work for terrorist groups. Nor mention most journalists openly supported the slaughter of Israeli civilians.  And yet this must have been known by whoever did the Washington Post research. Instead the WP article paints them all as heroes. How did the WP choose their seven and not find out the truth? It is impossible.  I sent these questions to the three journos named in the article -Ellen Francis, Artur Galocha and Joe Snell  I never recevied a response. The Washinton Post motto reads ‘democracy dies in darkness’.  They are right, democracy does die in darkness – and they are some of those helping to kill it."

Hen Mazzig on X - "Defacing a statue of the late Amy Winehouse because she wore a Jewish star necklace is truly disgusting.  If you can’t stand to look at a symbol of Judaism on a memorial for a Jewish singer because of your dislike for the Israeli government, perhaps the antisemitism and Israel thing is more connected than you think…"

Dr. Maalouf ‏ on X - "HOLLAND: a gay activist thought of showing up to a pro-Palestine rally to show some support and was quickly put in his place by Muslim migrants. “Get out of here, you don’t belong here. You’re disgusting. Get out or we’ll kick your ass, f*g.”"

Gov. Kathy Hochul Apologizes For Israel-Hamas Analogy to Canada - The New York Times - "In remarks made at a Jewish philanthropy event, Gov. Kathy Hochul said that if Canada attacked the United States as Hamas did Israel, “there would be no Canada the next day.”"
Looks like it's not just Jews who have no right to self defense

Top UN court rejects S.Africa request for more Gaza measures - "The court has yet to rule on the underlying issue, but on January 26 it ordered Israel to ensure it took action to protect Palestinian civilians from further harm and to allow in humanitarian aid."
This won't stop the terrorism supporters from continuing to lie that the ICJ found that Israel was committing genocide

Top UN court rejects S.Africa request for more Gaza measures : theworldnews - "And this from a country that does nothing to stop the farmers and their families from getting murdered and tortured? You have to be kidding me. Fucking muppets.Talking about South Africa here."
Top UN court rejects S.Africa request for more Gaza measures : theworldnews - "I mean, South Africa’s case is based on an entirely new definition of genocide not in the original 1949 statute that ascribes the mens rea to one person and the actus rea to another person, then charges both parties as a personal union without evidence of conspiracy. It doesn’t seem likely that an impartial court would accept that novel legal theory."
Top UN court rejects S.Africa request for more Gaza measures : theworldnews - "Same country that couldn't put Zuma in prison because of "prison overcrowding". The one guy who should have been put in prison in SA"

Investigation: The antisemitism that Oct. 7 unleashed in Canada - "Just one per cent of the country’s population, Canadian Jews were already disproportionately the victims of hate crimes before Hamas launched its armed assault, and the Israeli military responded in Gaza.  But something happened after Oct. 7 that has brought it into the open in ways uncharacteristic of a diverse nation that prides itself on tolerance and the embrace of multiculturalism.  “It’s almost like a world gone mad,” said Rabbi Menachem Karmel, principal at Yeshiva Gedola, a Jewish elementary school in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood... In intelligence briefs released under the Access to Information Act, the Canadian government’s Integrated Terrorism Assessment Centre said violent extremists were spreading antisemitic rhetoric.  Using social media as their “main pathway,” extremist influencers have praised Hamas and disseminated antisemitic content and conspiracy theories that incite violence, according to an Oct. 12, 2023 report.  “The narratives encourage hate crimes, violence and terrorism,” said the report, titled Canada: Trends Influencing Antisemitic Violent Extremism... Since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israelis, he has claimed the conflict is a “jihad,” and those killed fighting would be rewarded with 72 virgins.  “We pray that Allah grants them victory over the criminal Jews,” he said in a recent Friday sermon that was later posted on his Facebook page... A South Africa-born preacher, Kathrada has never been charged, and has denied promoting hatred or inciting his followers to do anything more than adhere to his version of worship.  In the days after Oct. 7, he posted questions online he said a news reporter had asked him, and provided responses.  “Do you think your comments are hate speech? Response: Are they serious?! Not a single word of what I have posted is hate speech,” Kathrada wrote... the non-profit group that runs Kathrada’s prayer centre has received government funding...  MEMRI has issued 60 reports on him, including one that quotes him preaching that non-Muslims are “enemies,” and not to associate with them.  “I want our children to understand this well: the non-Muslims are the enemies of Allah, therefore they are your enemies,” he said in one of the videos.  In another video, he said that “people of faith hate the Yahud because of their disbelief in Allah.” He defined Yahud as “Zionists, Zionist Jews, whatever you like.” Yahud is the Arabic term for Jews.  “If you do not hate the opponents of Allah you have no faith,” he continued. “Having said that, once again, we have not ever called toward violence toward others.”... Under the heading “Online proliferation of incitement,” it cited his sermon about the beheading by French extremists of school teacher Samuel Paty, whom he called a “filthy excuse for a human being.”... Sent a series of questions, Kathrada did not respond directly, but later wrote on Facebook that he was being harassed by “lazy misfits” who “twist people’s words.”  “Corporate media is anti-Islam, anti-Muslim and straight up dishonest. I urge them to hold their breath for a response,” he wrote... “I personally have felt safer in a bomb shelter than in the streets of Montreal,” said Ora Bar, a Concordia University student who grew up in Israel.  Last November, Bar was part of a group that set up a display in support of Israelis taken hostage by Hamas. A pro-Palestinian group put up its own table nearby.  Videos taken at the time show a student shouting at the Jewish group, then grabbing their Israeli flag. A brawl erupted. Three were injured and a 22-year-old student was arrested.  Across town, a University of Montreal sessional lecturer was suspended after he was allegedly videotaped at a protest calling a Jewish student a whore and telling her to “go back to Poland.”... Shimon Fogel, CEO of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, said even when anger is directed at Israel, it is often rooted in antisemitism.  “Israel has for many years now become the proxy for the Jewish people,” said Fogel. “And for many who hold hostile views, presenting them or characterizing them as hostility towards Israel is easier, and more politically correct, than simply giving expression to hatred towards Jews.”  “But really, from our experience they’re one and the same,” he said.  “There is a reason the Jews are being targeted on the streets of Toronto or Vancouver or Montreal. There’s a reason that schools and synagogues are being firebombed,” Fogel added.  “And it’s because the antipathy is for the Jewish people, and the Jewish state is only an extension of the Jewish people, not something, independent and separate.” What concerns Fogel is not only the hatred that has found voice since Oct. 7, but where it is coming from, notably progressives who had partnered with the Jewish community on issues such as LGBTQ2 rights.  “It’s really hard to wrap our heads around, the kind of alliances that are beginning to take shape,” he said. “So in addition to being anxious about the hate being directed to us, we are profoundly puzzled by these alignments.”"
Damn Islamophobia and censorship of pro-Palestinian speech!

2nd youth charged in connection with anti-Jewish terror plot - "A young person has been charged as the alleged "co-conspirator" of a 15-year-old Ottawa boy already accused of plotting a terrorist attack against Jewish people, according to the RCMP."
Damn censorship of "pro-Palestinian" speech!
No one ever asks why the pro-Israel side doesn't do this sort of thing

Defense minister reveals identities of 12 UNRWA staffers who 'actively participated' in Oct. 7 onslaught - "“In addition to these 12 workers, we have significant indications based on intelligence, that over 30 UNRWA workers participated in the massacre, facilitated the taking of hostages, looted and stole from Israeli communities, and more,” Gallant says in a briefing with foreign press."

Hamas had command tunnel under UN Gaza HQ, Israel says - "Israeli forces have discovered a tunnel network hundreds of metres (yards) long and running partly under UNRWA's Gaza headquarters, the military says, calling it new evidence of Hamas exploitation of the main relief agency for Palestinians. Army engineers took reporters for foreign news outlets through the passages... Reporters on the closely escorted trip entered a shaft next to a school on the periphery of the U.N. compound, descending to the concrete-lined tunnel. Twenty minutes of walking through the stifling hot, narrow and occasionally winding passage brought them underneath UNRWA Headquarters, an army lieutenant-colonel leading the tour said. The tunnel, which the military said was 700 metres long and 18 metres deep, bifurcated at times, revealing side-rooms. There was an office space, with steel safes that had been opened and emptied. There was a tiled toilet. One large chamber was packed with computer servers, another with industrial battery stacks."
Weird. The terrorism supporters keep claiming the IDF don't allow the media to see the alleged tunnel. Of course, another cope is that Israel built the tunnel

Footage of Hamas barbarism shows why ceasefire is not an option - "These were people armed not just with grenades and AK-47s, but with cellphones and body cameras to document their pogrom for the whole world to see. Numerous scenes feature Hamas fighters with big smiles on their faces, cheering and laughing as they take pictures of the bodies strewn on the ground around them.  Also documented were scenes from Gaza of returning terrorists, who were met with a heroes’ welcome as they dragged young women, clearly beaten and raped, from the backs of their trucks.  In a call intercepted by Israeli officials, a Palestinian man can be heard proudly bragging to his father that he had killed 10 Jews and telling him to go on WhatsApp so he could see for himself.  After witnessing these horrors, it’s hard to disagree with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s characterization of this as a “battle between civilization and barbarism.” Which is clearly why Israeli officials have been screening this video for members of the foreign press over the past weeks. Last Thursday, members of the Ottawa press gallery were shown the footage. Somehow, the CBC’s reporter managed to file a 1,800-word story without once using the word “terror” or “terrorist.”  This is the other battle Israel is waging: an information war for the hearts and minds of the global public. Sadly, this is a fight in which Israel’s enemies clearly have the upper hand.  For years, anti-Israel rhetoric fermented on university campuses and has now spilled out into the wider world, along with a vile progressive ideology that spurns western civilization and liberal values.  We saw scenes of people jubilantly cheering in the streets after the United States was attacked on 9/11, but those were largely confined to backward countries half a world away where homosexuals were stoned and women were kept in beekeeper suits. It’s hard to imagine anyone celebrating the terrorist attacks on the streets of New York, Toronto or London.  Yet that is exactly what we witnessed here in Canada and other western countries, even before Hamas had finished slaughtering and raping innocent civilians. Protesters were trotting out tired old tropes about Israel’s “disproportionate” response, even before it had fired a single shot... South Africa — a country that surely knows the difference between an actual apartheid state and one that needs to build security barriers to prevent hostile neighbours from blowing up buses and mowing down hundreds of party-goers at a music festival — announced on Monday that it’s recalling all its diplomats from Israel and called for a “comprehensive cessation” to the hostilities.  Politicians in Ireland — an island that’s no stranger to the horrors of terrorism — have been vocally critical of Israel, with its premier suggesting the Jewish state’s response amounts to “collective punishment” and its foreign minister saying the campaign in Gaza has been “disproportionate by any measure.”"
All the footage filmed by Hamas doesn't stop terrorism supporters from gaslighting that it never happened

Meme - Hen Mazzig @HenMazzig: "The FBI has arrested and seized 28 guns from a woman in Oregon who threatened attacks on Jews and other minorities on social media.   She wrote that she “feels Jewish people treat Palestinians in the same manner as the Nazis treated the Jews.”   When will people understand that this isn’t a game?  When you use antisemitic rhetoric that weaponizes our own trauma against us, it inspires real-life violence against Jews."
Act.Forward🇺🇸Christian. Wife. Mom. Pediatrician. @Act_Forward: "This is bigger than just Anti-Semitism. That saying A LOT because never in my life have I seen so much terrible hatred and violence directed towards our Jewish communities.  The culture of violence that is applauded and cheered online towards "the other" group is appalling.  It leads ONLY towards increasing hate and bloodshed. We MUST call out terrible rhetoric when we see it, no matter what "side" it comes from and hold people accountable for ILLEGAL calls for direct violence.  Failure to do so WILL result in more deaths 😔 as ignorant bravado becomes real bloodshed."

Meme - "FROM THE CITY TO THE PLAZA DEPORT THESE FUCKERS OFF TO GAZA"

Meme - Jonathan Kay: "Academics at another Canadian university express support for the terrorist attacks. This time it's @Carleton U teaching assts & contract instructors defending terrorism as "retaliatory escalation against settler-colonial systemic violence/oppression"
"CUPE 4600 stands in solidarity with Palestine
We recognize that the events of October 7th are a retaliatory escalation against the current and long history of settler-colonial systemic violence and oppression in historic Palestine against the Palestinian people. Israel has imposed a brutal blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2007, cutting the Palestinian people from the rest of the world and forcing them to live in an open-air prison. CUPE 4600 understands that in order to cease the continuous and tragic loss of life, the root cause of violent Israeli settler-colonialism must be addressed. We recognize that decolonization is not a metaphor and must be enacted through the repatriation of Indigenous land and life (Tuck & Yang 2012). Humanitarian justice requires the liberation of Palestine as well as an international commitment to ensuring Palestinians are granted the human rights they have been denied for over 75 years."
