#trending: TikToker criticised for wearing bralette and blazer to work - "A French fashion influencer known as "Laurie" has gone viral for her skin-baring "office outfit" in a TikTok video posted last month, putting the spotlight on Gen Zers and their unconventional attire in the workplace.  Laurie, 24, works with her grandmother to sell handmade crochet tops, which are typically cropped and backless with a V-shaped neckline... "I don't know which (night) club you work in... but where I'm from, if you show up like that, you get sent straight home."...   In Singapore, it is also not uncommon to see Gen Z TikTokers styling cropped tops and shorts as part of their #workfits.  Whether or not this is acceptable, however, is constantly up for debate. In a video from Singaporean TikTok user "intotheunknnown", which gathered 377,300 views, she shows off how she wears a cardigan to "make all (her) cropped tops work-appropriate"...   In a couple of TikTok videos earlier this year, a beauty and fashion critic who goes by the handle Pretty Critical argued that popular clothing brands such as Revolve and Reformation have hilariously missed the mark on the casual workplace trend.  Trying to jump on the bandwagon, these brands have taken to advertising "workwear edits", which feature cropped tops styled with cropped blazers, as well as miniskirts and revealing cutouts.   One of the videos by Pretty Cynical on "workwear that will get you fired", posted in August, has amassed 572,000 views and 930 comments from baffled office workers.  One comment read: "It's like office attire cosplay."

No evidence old Christmas tradition had women ‘begging’ for husbands’ forgiveness - "A bizarre story about an old "Christmas tradition" between husband and wife is roaming around Facebook.  The post features what appears to be a dated, black-and-white image of five women kneeling in front of a line of men who are supposedly their husbands with text above that reads:  "At Christmas women used to apologize to their husbands for all the mistakes they made during the year and beg for forgiveness … let’s not let this beautiful custom get lost..""

Are single women actually happier? Study misinterprets data, researchers say - "Wilcox said, Dolan's findings do not align with other studies on marriage and happiness for women.  In data from the General Social Survey between 2010-2018, analyzed by Wilcox and researcher Nicholas Wolfinger, married women between the ages of 18 and 50 reported significantly higher rates of happiness than their divorced, separated, or single and never married counterparts. According to GSS data, married women without children reported being "very happy" at a rate of 45%, while married women with children reported being "very happy" at a rate of 41%. Women separated or divorced without children reported "very happy" rates of 27%, while separated or divorced women with children reported "very happy" rates of 21%.  For single, never-married women, their reported rates of being "very happy" were at 24% for those without children, and 19% for those with children.  The pattern held when adults were questioned about rates of unhappiness, Wilcox and Wolfinger found.  Wolfinger noted that he was unable to reach Dolan for comment on an article he wrote about his data analysis, but Wolfinger said that "the story becomes clearer after looking at the ATUS questionnaire. First, it's important to note that general happiness is being measured, not happiness within one's marriage. The two are related to be sure, but far from perfectly. The GSS has separate measures of marital happiness and overall happiness, and the correlation coefficient between the two is .39."

Woman who gave birth to ELEVEN kids by EIGHT men responds to accusations she's trying to get money - "A woman who has given birth to 11 kids by eight different men has responded to haters who accused her of only having so many children so that she could get money from the government.  The woman, named Phi, from Memphis, Tennessee, has earned viral fame on TikTok for often sharing a glimpse into life with her massive brood, where she has gained more than 90,000 followers.  But the mother-of-11 is often forced to defend her decision to have so many babies against online trolls...  Phi opened up about her decision to have so many kids with different men in a video that got more than 2.9 million views, and she explained that she did it so that her children would never be 'fatherless.'  'One thing I'm sick of having to explain is why I have eight baby daddies,' she said. 'I'm gonna explain this one time for y'all so there won't be any more questions.  'If you have one and you take away one, you have zero. But if you have eight and you take away three, you still have five.'  'If I only had one baby daddy and he leave or die my kids would be fatherless, but if I have eight and three were to leave or die my kids still have five dads'"
Presumably if you criticise someone the media don't approve of online, that doesn't make you a "troll"
From her children, it looks like she has a black fetish

Boy, 2, drowns in pool while OnlyFans mum posed for photoshoot - "A two-year-old boy drowned in a villa swimming pool while his OnlyFans model mother partied with friends for a photoshoot inside the house.  Chawanakon Hancharoenpanna was taken with his 26-year-old mother, Wiyada Pontawee, and her photographer husband to the house in Pattaya, Thailand, on Valentine's Day.  Several other adult models were also understood to have attended the party, which also doubled as a photoshoot."

How women cope when men don't find them attractive

In a Changing China, New Matchmaking Markets - NYTimes.com - "In Joy City, Ms. Yang gave instructions to her eight-scout team, one of six squads the company was deploying in three cities for one Shanghai millionaire. This client had provided a list of requirements for his future wife, including her age (22 to 26), skin color (“white as porcelain”) and sexual history (yes, a virgin)... A widowed 67-year-old pensioner, she was clearing a spot on the ground for a sign she had scrawled for her son. “Seeking Marriage,” read the wrinkled sheet of paper, which Ms. Yu held in place with a few fragments of brick and stone. “Male. Single. Born 1972. Height 172 cm. High school education. Job in Beijing.” Ms. Yu is another kind of love hunter: a parent seeking a spouse for an adult child in the so-called marriage markets that have popped up in parks across the city. Long rows of graying men and women sat in front of signs listing their children’s qualifications. Hundreds of others trudged by, stopping occasionally to make an inquiry." Ms. Yu’s crude sign had no flourishes: no photograph, no blood type, no zodiac sign, no line about income or assets. Unlike the millionaire’s wish list, the sign didn’t even specify what sort of wife her son wanted. “We don’t have much choice,” she explained. “At this point, we can’t rule anybody out”... A generation ago, China was one of the world’s most equal nations, in both gender and wealth. Most people were poor... As recently as 1990, researchers found that a vast majority of residents in two of China’s largest cities dated just one person before marriage: their prospective spouse... One firm transported 200 would-be trophy wives to a resort town in southwestern China for the perusal of one powerful magnate. Another organized a caravan of BMWs for rich businessmen to find young wives in Sichuan Province... Teacher Fei, as her employees call her, runs a series of “how to be a better wife” workshops that coach women on the finer points of managing a wealthy household, reading their husbands’ moods and “understanding the importance of sexual relations.” The fee for two, 14-day courses is $16,000... She had just spent an hour with a rich Chinese businesswoman in her late 30s. The woman proposed spending $100,000 on a campaign to find a husband who matched her status. “I had to tell her we couldn’t take her case,” Ms. Yang said. “No wealthy Chinese man would ever marry her. They always want somebody younger, with less power”... The marriage candidates on offer in the parks, she discovered, were often a mismatch of shengnu (“leftover women”) and shengnan (“leftover men”), two groups from opposite ends of the social scale. Shengnan, like her son, are mostly poor rural men left behind as female counterparts marry up in age and social status. The phenomenon is exacerbated by China’s warped demographics, as the bubble of excess men starts to reach marrying age. Finding a Chinese spouse can be even more challenging for so-called leftover women, even if they often have precisely what the shengnan lack: money, education and social and professional standing... “She’s been introduced to about 15 men over the past two years, but they all rejected her because her degree is too high.” The failure compelled him to forbid his youngest daughter from going to graduate school. “No man will want you”... the office’s management team ferreted out and dismissed the office mole — a secretary whom the competitor had recruited as a spy. But it took a full week of apologies and vows of enhanced security to coax Mr. Big to finally sign the contract. The terms stipulated that his file would be destroyed, “Mission Impossible”-style, once he had found a wife... A rural migrant and door-to-door salesman, he struggled to find a shared topic of interest with the woman, a 35-year-old entrepreneur and Beijing native who had arrived driving a BMW sedan... even before broaching the possibility of a second date, he said, the woman made a proposition: if they married, he wouldn’t have to work again. “She said she made enough money for the two of us,” he said. “I could have anything I want.”"

They simply can't share parenting responsibilities. They can't loosen their grip on the parenting reigns and inevitably treat the man like he's another one of her children. There was absolutely no difference whatsoever in how they communicated with and treated their kids and how they communicated with and treated me. That's one of MANY reasons I will NEVER go out with a single mom again. Good luck, guys."

The vibrator: from medical tool to revolutionary sex toy - "Many of us have heard the story that Victorian-era doctors first used vibrators, applying them to their female patients to treat them for hysteria. But it turns out this may be a myth... The idea that doctors used vibrators to masturbate women for hysteria can be traced back to a book called The Technology of Orgasm: "Hysteria," the Vibrator, and Women’s Sexual Satisfaction. Published in 1999, it was written by the historian of technology Rachel Maines, now a visiting researcher at Cornell University in the US.  Despite the book’s resounding popularity and acclaim – including the 1999 Herbert Feis Award from the American Historical Association – the theory has some pretty unstable foundations, according to recent paper published in the Journal of Positive Sexuality. The study is the latest piece of research by historians seeking to undermine the claims of The Technology of Orgasm – and its holds on both the history of sexuality and the popular imagination... Lieberman proposes an alternative view. Yes, mechanical devices known as ‘vibrators’ – and advertised as back or neck massagers – were being used by women in intimate ways as early as the 1900s and 1910s. But there’s no evidence that that was the case prior to 1900, when vibrators were being marketed to physicians, not directly to consumers.  And it certainly wasn’t the case that doctors, unaware of what the female orgasm really was, were using these devices to cure women of their hysteria... “She presents it as though no one is aware that it’s an orgasm,” Lieberman says. “But there was an awareness of the clitoris and women’s sexuality at the time.” There is evidence that in the 19th and early 20th Centuries, for example, doctors in the US and the UK theorised about what kinds of sexual behaviours in women were healthy and which were not, and there was general awareness of the female orgasm.  Then there are problems with the historical examples cited in Maines’s book. Maines cites five sources towards the start of the book to back up her claim that doctors commonly used vibrators “especially in gynaecological massage”. But several of these sources don’t back up this claim. One doesn’t mention vibrators, hysteria or gynaecological massage at all – in fact, the passage referred to is about treating period pains with electrical currents. The author stresses that for patients with period pains “complete absence from sexual excitement is of the highest importance”.  Another of the sources makes no mention of hysteria, massage or vibrators. A third also makes no mention of gynaecological massage, only general massage, and the term ‘vibrator’ doesn’t appear anywhere in the book.  Throughout the book, Lieberman found this pattern repeated over and over... What we know is that vibrators were used on the body as a panacea for almost every possible ailment... Hysteria, too, was among the list of conditions vibrators were used to treat. But for these patients, the vibrator was more likely used for a relaxing massage of the back or neck than for any kind of erotic use, says Lieberman... Lieberman’s paper is not the first to challenge Maines’ theory. Scholars including Helen King, a Classical historian at the Open University, London, have challenged Maines’ claims that this practice stretched back to the ancient Greek and Roman worlds.  “Maines wants a line of history going all the way back to the time of Hippocrates, so she was determined to find doctors massaging their female patients to orgasm in the earliest written sources,” says King.  But it was not common practice in the ancient world to let doctors anywhere near the women of the household, she says. Another problem was that Maines didn’t distinguish between satirical writing from this period and genuine medical literature... When doctors began to realise around the early 20th Century that vibrators were in fact not the cure-alls they were taken to be, the manufacturers of these devices were left with a problem... As time went on, these adverts became more or less subtly sexualised. Shirtless men and women in low-cut blouses would be shown happily displaying the vibrators. Because of the coyness around advertising vibrators explicitly as sex toys, it’s hard to pin down when they were first widely known to be used as such... In Alabama, obscenity laws still prohibit advertising and selling vibrators."

Reverse Tanning: What It Is & Why It's Huge In South Korea - "The (suspect) logic is that a whiter canvas better showcases the meticulously pampered skin they spend a great deal of time and money to achieve. And, that’s why “white tanning,” also known as red-light therapy, has taken Seoul by storm. White tanning is as much a paradox as it is a misnomer (seriously, that name makes no sense). Unlike the tanning most Americans are familiar with, which uses UV light to increase melanin production, white tanning is accomplished through infrared light — so there’s no actual tanning going on. But, there isn’t much whitening happening either. Despite its slightly misleading name, the real reason the trend has picked up in Korea is because of its promises to improve skin tone.   It may sound slightly dubious, but science is on its side. NASA (yes, rocket scientists are behind white tanning) developed the technology to treat wounds in space by stimulating the body in healing itself."
Meanwhile, I'm told that white women need makeup because flaws show up more easily on white skin. So "suspect"

How do you tell a guy you just started dating that you are a sex worker and the only way you would stop being one is if he makes a serious lifelong commitment to you?"
Tried posting this in r/sexworkers forum but apparently it was offensive. Honestly, not sure why.  The only way I would stop doing sex work is if I met a guy who was basically proposing marriage. He'd have to have  a very high income and own some property and be able to take care of me financially. Until he makes this commitment though I'm not having sex with him. At least not for free. Until then he's just another client who needs to get in line  like everybody else and hand me some cash. Or alternatively I'm open to just being friends."

Ever heard of a “hot boy summer”? Or a “feral boy summer”? Of course you haven’t, because men are fine just the way they are.
