Another reason not to trust Singapore media

One of the reasons why the media in Singapore is not world-class is that they play games with their content.

Take, for example, this ChannelNewsAsia article, Suspected pirates board Singapore-registered vessel.



You wouldn't normally suspect anything, but if you had viewed the article when it was first posted, you would've noticed that the ship's managing company, "GBLT Shipmanagement Pte Ltd", was mentioned (on a side note: who chuckles when they hear the name of this company?)

In Google's cache you can see that the company's name was mentioned in an older version of the article:



The original article (as far as I can tell) is available on Xinhua (how ironic).

While respectable news agencies do correct or otherwise amend their articles, they ALWAYS have a note at the top or the bottom detailing what has been changed (and why).

(I seem to recall that CNA has done this sort of shit before, but this can be yet another item in their Hall of Shame)
