"Here's to woman! Would that we could fall into her arms without falling into her hands!" - Ambrose Bierce

Crossing the God Divide - "As the semester went on, of course, my view of Liberty became more nuanced. I spent more and more time getting to know my hall-mates, and I learned that they weren't the angry zealots I'd feared. They didn't spend their free time sewing Hillary Clinton voodoo dolls and penning angry missives to the ACLU. They played intramural sports, gossiped about girls, and complained about their exams, much like every other group of college students in America. And that realization—that you could be both an extremely conservative Christian and a perfectly likeable human being—wreaked havoc on my secular worldview... meeting Falwell in person, I saw a different man than the red-faced demagogue I had loathed from afar. He spoke fondly of his grandchildren and told me about his lifelong love of practical jokes. He prayed for me and signed my Bible as a memento. He steered our conversation clear of his political controversies, and, as a result, he came across as a funny, folksy religious leader, not a hate-spewing fundamentalist... some hard-line evangelicals... are capable of introspection, doubt, and a certain measure of compromise... Liberty and Brown shared some unexpected similarities"

How does prayer work? - "If one is at a higher spiritual level (above 50%) divine subtle (intangible) frequencies begin to be received directly through the Brahmarandhra itself. The Brahmarandhra is a subtle opening above the Sahasraar Chakra (as per the spiritual science of Kundalini yoga) that has access to the Universal Mind and Intellect. This subtle opening is closed in people of a lower spiritual level. The primary factor that helps the opening of the Brahmarandhra is a lower level of ego. When in this phase of our spiritual growth the need for the prayer mudraa as explained above becomes less and less. However if a person between the spiritual level of 50% - 80% complements his prayer with the recommended mudraa, then he gets the benefit of additional Divine Consciousness. This additional benefit is 30% more in the case of a person at the 50% spiritual level and it proportionately become less and less as the spiritual level increases."
How scientific.

Is the Conservative Movement Losing Steam? - "The policies of the new conservatism are powered largely by emotion and religion and have for the most part weak intellectual groundings. That the policies are weak in conception, have largely failed in execution, and are political flops is therefore unsurprising. The major blows to conservatism, culminating in the election and programs of Obama, have been fourfold: the failure of military force to achieve U.S. foreign policy objectives; the inanity of trying to substitute will for intellect, as in the denial of global warming, the use of religious criteria in the selection of public officials, the neglect of management and expertise in government; a continued preoccupation with abortion; and fiscal incontinence in the form of massive budget deficits, the Medicare drug plan, excessive foreign borrowing, and asset-price inflation."

Govts stand is clear - "Asked further on the government's stand on homosexuals who try to push their cause publicly, he cited the recent Aware debates on homosexuality and Section 377A of the Penal Code... as examples of how they could get 'unproductive and divisive'. He also said that the Penal Code debate showed how the 'homosexuality issue polarised society.' 'Our society will not reach a consensus on this issue for a very long time to come. The way for homosexuals to have space in our society is to accept the informal limits which reflect the point of balance that our society can accept, and not to assert themselves stridently as gay groups do in the West,' said Mr Wong."
I actually agree with him
