"Is fuel efficiency really what we need most desperately? I say that what we really need is a car that can be shot when it breaks down." - Russell Baker

I went down to Hong Lim Park (Speakers Corner) for the JBJ Memorial just now.

I was stunned at the huge turnout, and that the organisers had managed to get a lit place with a banner and chairs for people to sit.

When I got closer, I realised it was a Martial Arts Display, and that the people in the audience were all old folks.

The real memorial was behind this.

Not a bad turnout still.

The setup, with tea lights, candles, photographs and a piece of mahjong paper to write condolences/wishes/thoughts on

A closer look

"Sic Semper Tyrannis - gssq"

HWMNBN: i would have written: "You fought for and believed in people unworthy and unable to rise up to your standards."

There was some Indian guy being interviewed in front of a camera, and he was saying that he'd spent 20 (?) years sailing (?) around the world, and that he said he could never compare to JBJ's sacrifices but he would try to carry on the fight. He called for a televised dialogue with the PM, SM and MM even though he wasn't as smart as them, or had as much political experience. Good luck to him in getting that done. Finally, he vowed not to step off Singapore soil again before this task was done.

The photos suck. Too bad. The only real camera I had with me with Superfly's (from Hari Raya Bazaar day) but I don't have a suitable card reader.
