"Rock journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read." - Frank Zappa

Someone: who the fuck is frigid girl
and why isn't she becoming a nun or something

Me: bunnies?

Someone: i've adopted them!!!!!!!!!!!!
well subject to a home visit by the rescue people
and my getting the hutch set up
they are GORGEOUS

Me: that's nice, dear
I hope you're sterilising them
or you're going to have even more

Someone: well duh

Me: how many?

Someone: two. the rescue had actually got someone to adopt them previoulsy but she'd had changed circumstances
so they're already grown up and bonded

Me: ah

Someone: i'm so excited!!!!! my god they were so cute

Me: can I take bets on when the novelty will wear off =D

Someone: i've been researching this for 5 months and am very aware of my responsibilities to them, so you can fuck off

Me: ...
so grumpy

Noodles: no wonder you realise that girls are so messed up... they make it too obvious

Someone: tell u something u will be happy
u know up till today
my friend is still praising ur hair
i am really erm...

and she said
in fact a lot of people who's in the same lect as u
were impressed with ur hair

MFM: every decent arts performance [in Singapore is expensive]

I think part of the problem is that the arts institutions are broke, so they're heavily reliant on ticket sales
whereas in the west the big arts institutions rely mainly on donations

Me: I guess
but RSC?

MFM: the esplanade is broke?

Me: anyway singaporeans are willing to pay

MFM: higher income s'poreans are willing to pay
it is absolutely not a haven for penniless students

Me: well as long as the seats are filled...

MFM: yes, I suppose they don't care whether art serves a public purpose

Me: well if you have no money what can you do?

MFM: oh well. I'm just annoyed at the sudden narrowing of my artistic experiences

Me: well
better than if you hadn't broadened them in the first place

MFM: and three years ago we didn't have to pay so much to watch guest orchestras
bastards
$58 minimum for RNO??

I paid around $30 for Leipzig Gewandhaus when they came
inflation ain't that much

Me: ok
are the two comparable?

MFM: Leipzig is much better imo

Me: well
reputation, not playing

MFM: reputation too

RNO is only like 15 years old
or 20
pletnev organised it in the ashes of the cold war
and he's a less recognised conductor than blomstedt

oh lang lang is coming; all the racists can drool over him now

Me: you mean racial chauvinists

MFM: this is v. good, but $58 as well:

Me: ooh zukerman

MFM: I watched two concerts in chicago featuring zukerman for less than that, fuck them.

Me: well in utrecht I paid 14 euros for student tickets

MFM: lang lang is $68, all the rich piano kids can go drool at him

Me: you're not going for anything?

MFM: nothing above $30

Me: wah good luck man

MFM: yeah I've exiled myself from artistic events

Me: how much were you paying in chicago?

MFM: usd10
usually

occasionally they don't release student tickets
but the most i paid was usd18 for cso
and usd36 for opera

Me: kissin for 25 euros

I miss utrecht.

MFM: london too had good student prices
it's usually students who are cash-strapped, and who *should* attend arts performances (for their education etc.)

but as I said, even normal tickets were reasonable in chicago
kissin for 25 euros is cheap, it would prob be like $70 in sg
I watched kissin for usd10 of course
