If We Can't Criticize Islam, We Can't Reform It - "Unfortunately, though, it looks like this process will encounter a most stubborn resistance. This is not only a result of efforts from fundamentalist Muslims, but also on the part of Western intellectuals, regressive leftists, and the political far right. It's astonishing when western liberals, who claim to possess the legacy of the Enlightenment, say that Islamists and jihadists abuse Islam. What makes them so certain? Why do they claim to have evidence that fundamentalists are not Islamic and have nothing to do with Islam? Apparently, the Prophet Muhammad also misused Islam: why else would it read in the Quran and Hadith that he conducted religious wars against the Jews and unbelievers, and approved the killing of apostates? Despite this betrayal of the Enlightenment, scholars and intellectuals can now be found throughout the Islamic world who are not afraid of calling things by their names, and who openly express concerns about the contemporary problems within Islam. For example, Dr. Elham Manea, a Yemeni-Swiss lecturer of political science at the University of Zürich, argues that the Prophet Muhammad has two faces: a peaceful one, but also a violent one. Dr. Manea further contends that sticking one's head in the sand and suggesting that Islamism is a corruption of Islam is an exercise in futility. To find an antidote for this problem of rampant fundamentalism, it's much more important to recognize that Islamism isn't something alien, but is an important part of mainstream and traditional interpretations of Islam"

Study: Asian-Americans Viewed As 'More American' If Overweight - "Asians who were heftier were not only more likely to be perceived as being born in America, but to also possibly be a naturalized citizen. The study did not find a similar correlation for black, white, nor Latino individuals... Previous research conducted by Cheryan found that many immigrants in the U.S. eat an abundance of junk food to fit in."

Bondi synagogue ban: Terrorism fears prompt move, Jewish community left ‘furious’ - "A LOCAL council has banned the construction of a synagogue in Bondi because it could be a terrorist target, in a shock move that religious leaders say has caved in to Islamic extremism and created a dangerous precedent. The decision, which has rocked the longstanding Jewish community in the iconic suburb, was upheld in court this week as the nation reeled from the alleged airline terror threat and debate raged over increased security measures at airports and other public places. The Land and Environment Court backed the decision by Waverley Council to prohibit the construction of the synagogue in Wellington St, Bondi — just a few hundred metres from Australia’s most famous beach — because it was too much of a security risk for users and local residents. Jewish leaders are shocked the decision appears to suggest they cannot freely practice their religion because they are the target of hate by Islamist extremists — and that the council has used their own risk assessment of the threat posed by IS against it."

The Trouble With Day Care - "kids who spend long hours in day care have behavior problems that persist well into elementary school. About 26 percent of children who spend more than 45 hours per week in day care go on to have serious behavior problems at kindergarten age. In contrast, only 10 percent of kids who spend less than 10 hours per week have equivalent problems. Developmental psychologists are sweeping this information under the rug, hoping studies will churn out better data soon, argues Jay Belsky, a child development researcher at London's Birbeck College and a longtime critic of his fellow scientists. He contends that the field of developmental psychology is monopolized by women with a "liberal progressive feminist" bias. "Their concern is to not make mothers feel bad," he says... The more time in child care of any kind or quality, the more aggressive the child, according to results published in Child Development. Children in full-time day care were close to three times more likely to show behavior problems than those cared for by their mothers at home... "It's so obvious that this is the worst of politically correct rhetoric," counters Belsky, adding that if researchers were studying the amount of time spent in poverty and they got the same results, no one would dare put a neutral spin on the data. Belsky has been outspoken on the issue for decades. In the 1980s, his studies showed that children spending long hours in day care had higher levels of aggression than those raised by their mothers. Detractors excoriated him then for using bad science to criticize working women... What if, Belsky asks, "kids experiencing long hours in day care are more likely to use drugs, are less ambitious and have trouble with relationships? Parents will say, 'How come no one warned me?' It is our scientific responsibility to tell people what they may not want to know.""
The contrast with the publicity spanking studies get is instructive

BBC Radio 4 - Moral Maze, Brussels Bombing - "I think that we are still failing to grapple with the core reason for Islamic violence which lies within the Islamic world and while we do that there's more of a danger that we are going to restrict the liberties of all of us rather than deal with the problem at root which is what we should be doing...
We shouldn't listen to the liberal and neo liberal hand ringers who try to say to us that if we tighten up security the jihadists will have won. That is total rubbish. The jihadists will win when we are all terrified and when they stand a realistic chance in their own minds of establishing a Caliphate in Europe. Anything we do to prevent that is going to stop them winning...
You gun down a dozen journalists in a newspaper office in Paris and programs like this one spent weeks saying what are the limits of free speech? People are slow learners on this one. They really are. We learned everything we need to know about the jihadists a long long time ago. They keep telling us why they do it and they keep on doing it. And people like some people at the BBC and the media and certainly many of our politicians just keep ignoring them...
Why they think that Belgium is a crusader nation. Belgium!... Belgium's foreign policy did this...
The Schengen agreement works beautifully when a French citizen decides to go to Brussels for the weekend. It works horribly when a Belgian jihadist decides to go to Paris for the weekend and that is the problem, that is the much bigger problem than anything that the Prime Minister, Home Secretary or even dare as I say as I say the BBC ever want to address...
You say it's a dreadful distortion but it just happens to be by an amazing coincidence the same dreadful distortion practiced by Boko Haram, practiced by the Islamists who are massacring very large numbers of Christians in Iraq and so on around the world. It's exactly the same distortion. Doesn't that strike you that there is something perhaps that is quite deeply rooted here and is not a distortion?...
They don't want to undermine our democratic liberties. They want to conquer us and destroy us"

Bill to cut off aid to Palestinians passed by U.S. committee - "A U.S. Senate committee approved a bill on Thursday that would cut off $300 million in annual U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority unless it stops making what lawmakers described as payments that reward violent crimes."

Stop Infantilizing the Palestinians - "Breaking news: The Palestinians are not the first refugee population in the world, far from it, nor, incidentally, are they the only refugee population from the Arab-Israeli conflict. Nearly a million Jews were forcibly evicted from their homes in Arab countries, but all of them resettled elsewhere rather than opt to languish in refugee camps ad infinitum. But the Palestinians definitely are the first to be designated by the UN as “refugees in perpetuity,” handing the title to their children and their children’s children. How long must this unique status on the planet go on? Shouldn’t there be some statute of limitation in order to begin to change the mindset and put a halt to these camps, which serve as incubators of hatred and revenge?... the Palestinians could have had a state on more than one occasion between 1947 and 2017, yet they rejected each opportunity. That’s not an opinion, but a fact. But, of course, the price to be paid was recognition of Israel as a sovereign nation alongside the Palestinian state, a price they have been unwilling to pay... Palestinians launch gruesome terror attacks against Israel, such as the murder of three people in Halamish last week, and then reward the killers and their families with generous monthly stipends. One estimate is that the Palestinians will spend up to $300 million in 2017 alone for this purpose. This should be kept in mind the next time someone wonders why more schools and hospitals aren’t being built in the West Bank."

SJW-Infested BioWare is Getting Ripped Apart by Gamers Over the Terrible Mass Effect: Andromeda - "the last time Mass Effect: Andromeda was covered on TRR, it was due to BioWare and their SJW allies in the gaming media crying about an article in which Ralph exposed Andromeda’s self-proclaimed Lead Facial Animator as an incompetent misandrist. Apparently BioWare was going for the Ghostbusters 2016 strategy of covering up a shoddy product with cries of Muh Harassment (never mind that this approach failed horribly in the case of Ghostbusters)... It’s already clear, going by both the critics and the public, that this is by far the worst Mass Effect ever made – which I’m sure has nothing to do with the game also being the first Mass Effect made since BioWare went Full SJW… Just imagine the blow that this will be to BioWare’s reputation. What a spectacular case study it will provide of what happens when SJWs infiltrate your company, and of why going with a bunch of diversity hires instead of more experienced, more competent and more motivated white males is a mistake."

So The "Ta-Ta Towel" Is A Thing And I'm Not Sure How To Feel About It - "Don't you just hate it when you're getting ready for a night out and your boobs are all over the place, knocking things over and forming a pool of sweat?"

When Should a Child Be Taken from His Parents? - "People know that a call to the hotline is an easy way to blow up your life. If the caseworker believes your kids are in imminent danger, she may take them. You may not be allowed to say goodbye. It is terrifying for them to be taken from their home by a stranger, but this experience has repercussions far beyond the terror of that night. Your children may hear accusations against you—you’re using drugs, your apartment is filthy, you fail to get them to school, you hit them—and even if they don’t believe these things they will remember. And, after your children see that you are powerless to protect them, this will permanently change things between you. Whatever happens later—whether the kids come back the next week, or in six months, or don’t come back at all—that moment can never be undone... “The reckless destruction of American families in pursuit of the goal of protecting children is as serious a problem as the failure to protect children... We need to understand that destroying the parent-child relationship is among the highest forms of state violence”"
The fetish for "protecting" children continues to wreak havoc

Casual sex on spring break: Intentions and behaviors of canadian students - "In their review of the tourism and vacation literature, Herold and van Kerkwijk (1992) identified the characteristics of vacations that were conducive to casual sex activity as a sense of freedom from at-home restrictions, a relaxation of inhibitions, a focus on having a good time, and high alcohol consumption... The students portrayed spring break sexual partnerships as initiated rapidly, often within hours of meeting, and as temporary, not lasting beyond the spring break period... Women were less likely than men to form pacts or agreements with friends about casual sex; but when they did, women made agreements with friends not to engage in sex while in Daytona (15%), whereas men formed agreements to have sex (46%). In the elicitation interviews, students described agreements among women to "pull your friend out of a situation" if it appeared she might become sexually involved; men described competitive pacts to see who could "get laid" the most... Fewer men engaged in coital activity with new partners than intended to (55% of the men in this sample intended to engage in coital activity, but only 15% did). For women, however, there was almost no difference in the percentages who intended and who engaged in coitus with a new partner"
In other words, women can always get laid

How Canada became an education superpower - "If Canadian provinces entered Pisa tests as separate countries, three of them, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec, would be in the top five places for science in the world, alongside Singapore and Japan and above the likes of Finland and Hong Kong... Within three years of arriving, the Pisa tests show the children of new migrants have scores as high as the rest of their schoolmates. It makes Canada one of the few countries where migrant children achieve at a level similar to their non-migrant counterparts. Another distinguishing feature is that Canada's teachers are well paid by international standards - and entry into teaching is highly selective."

'Teen Vogue': White People Using GIFs Of Black People Is Racist - "According to feminist writer Lauren Michele Jackson, when white people use GIF reactions of black people they are engaging in "digital blackface"... The feminist argues that white people posting GIFs of, say, NeNe for The Real Housewives of Atlanta or Michael Jordan, is actually unjustly dumping "a huge amount of emotional labor" onto black people"

Sibel Kekilli Porn Videos | Pornhub.com - "You may know her as the tough mistress of Tyrion Lannister in that show everyone is talking about. You know, the one with thrones, kings, dragons and loads of softcore fucking. But the actress Sibel Kekilli really busted her initial acting chops doing the hardcore stuff. That’s right… the famed HBO show supposedly needed to cast loads of real-life experienced on-screen whores to give their show that realistic edge"

Sexual Orientation and Risk of Pregnancy Among New York City High-School Students - "14.3% of female and 10.8% of male students had experienced a pregnancy. Swiss court convicts man for ‘liking’ defamatory Facebook post in landmark ruling - "Mr Kessler then brought a case against the defendant, arguing that by ‘liking' the posts the man spread their content by making them visible to a larger number of people, and that he acted with intent to harm and without any justifiable cause... the defendant in this case had said in court that he supported the content and wanted to disseminate it"

From lonely failure to duchess of Hollywood - "The presence of clothes is worth mentioning, since in 1999 she was photographed naked, apart from a few books, for Tatler magazine, thereby simultaneously interesting a new audience in 18th-century politics, and infuriating those with fewer assets to flaunt. “If I’d known, I would have brushed my hair,” she says, now that the fuss is safely behind her."

Why Did Obama Pander to the UN’s Stunning Anti-Israel Bias? - "Israel is not the biggest problem in the Middle East, by a long shot. But you wouldn’t know that from the disproportionate way in which the UN has treated the country. Despite abstaining from the vote, America’s UN Ambassador Samantha Power herself noted that for as long as Israel has been a member of the UN it has been “treated differently” from other nations. And commenting only a week before this latest resolution, even outgoing Secretary General Ban Ki-moon agreed that “decades of political maneuvering have created a disproportionate number of resolutions, reports, and committees against Israel… In many cases, instead of helping the Palestinian issue, this reality has foiled the ability of the UN to fulfill its role effectively.”... Opposing Israel is The One Ring that binds us all. It is the sacred god that must not be questioned. So deep runs this bias against Israeli transgressions, that to call it out is to arouse immediately incredulity and ad hominem abuse... Secretary Kerry noted that Israel’s current government is its most right wing in history. Without a hint of irony he failed to mention that’s exactly what happens when a country faces repeated jihadist terrorist attacks... I remain unaware of a single Middle East pundit not tied to Obama’s State department who holds that the outgoing president has done a good job in the Middle East"
